Fantastic experience: Very kind and non-judgmental people. They explain everything they plan to do with lots of check-ins to make sure you're doing ok.

Fantastic experience: Welcomed from the point of walking in the door to the end of the appointment. It was my initial exam so lots of X-Rays, pictures and the dental hygienist explained what was to happen every step. More advanced technology from my previous dentist in Texas. I have already recommended Real Life Dental to 3 friends looking for a dentist.

Fantastic experience: Real Life Dental made me feel welcome and comfortable the entire time I was there. All of the staff were wonderful and explained everything before they did it to make sure I was comfortable the whole time. As someone with trust issues in doctors, I really feel as though I can trust all of the professionals here with my dental care.

Fantastic experience: I same into today for a cleaning with my five year old son for our first appointment at the Christiansburg office. Our experience was fantastic! I had a very thorough cleaning with Kelsey and Dr. Kim answered all my questions. Charles did the cleaning for our son and he explained the x-rays and took time to make our son feel very comfortable and have fun. They also have TV's overhead for the cleanings which helped my son feel at ease because he got to watch Paw Patrol. Afterwards we visited the "treasure chest" for the kids and upon leaving my son exclaimed multiple times "That was SO FUN!" and asked when we could come back. That was not at all the anticipated response I had when taking my child to the dentist so I highly recommend the practice. :)

Fantastic experience: I've gone to this dentist for 20 something years! They are wonderful!!! I had a traumatic issue they fixed initially and i was stuck for life willingly!!!

Negative experience: Make sure you're insurance is in network with them prior to being seen. My insurance changed and I stupidly assumed they would tell me my plan was out of network before being seen. Unfortunately they did not and then they put that back on me. If medical professionals (like myself) are required to abide by a the no surprises act, then dentists should too. I'm now out over $200 for services there because no one brought it to my attention until afterward. Their website says they work with all insurances. But that really means they'll bill your insurance but won't inform you if they are in network or not. I'd go elsewhere unless you're 100% clear on your benefits.

Fantastic experience: I was very impressed with Real Life Dental. It is quite a set up that they have in Christiansburg. Everything is very modern and high tech. All the staff is very friendly and professional. My hygienist, Lindsay, was great. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. She explained everything and did not rush. I will return for all my dental needs.

My hygienist was very gentle and she was receptive to visual pain signals and was willing to return to a sensitive spot after some time to ensure my comfort. The dentist themselves are also extremely knowledgeable and they always work with you to best meet your needs and all questions/concerns are addressed.

Negative experience: I'm very disappointed in the way I get treated when I go here. My Insurance pays 100% of my cleanings but they tell me they increased the price and I have to pay $38.00 on the spot that day. I call my insurance and they tell me that they pay 100% for my cleaning and that they will have to reimburse me for charging me. I have been seeing Dr. Thompson since sometime in the 90's. I am his oldest Patient but due to the way I get treated by his office I will be looking for a new Dentist office to go to.

Fantastic experience: I have never been disappointed with Real Life Dental.I generally don’t have to wait beyond my scheduled time, my hygienist is phenomenal and Dr.Kim know what to keep an eye on in regards to my teeth. Highly recommend, real life dental!

Negative experience: I started my dental journey with Damon Thompson when he was in practice with his father. Dr. Damon Thompson has always been a superb, professional, and affable dentist! Over the years, I have watched his own practice evolve. He always maintains the very best of colleagues and staff. Most recently, however, I experienced a tactic that I found to be unprofessional and unethical. I had previously called to set up an appointment. The receptionist gave me that appointment slot, and I viewed that as a verbal contract when I agreed to the appointment time and date. In other words, our interaction established that we both agreed to act in good faith to honor that appointment. A week before my appointment, I got phone message from Jeannie at Real Life, who said, "...give us a call by 2 o'clock today" to confirm that appointment. At 2:54 today, I received a call from Leslie, who said, "...unfortunately, since we haven't heard from you, we will be taking that off the schedule." A week? And threats. Again, this is totally unethical and intimidating practice on the part of Real Life Dental and a blemish on dentistry in general. I am appalled. C.N. Bean

Fantastic experience: The Christiansburg staff Dr. Flop and his hygienist team is Great!!! Always taking the best care of all your dental needs, giving good advice. Always very kind with good attention to details.

Fantastic experience: Great group of people. Our first visit was free due to insurance, which was nice. They cleaned his teeth, applied whitener and took care of a build up of calcium on one of his gums. They made a rescheduled visit in 6mo before he was done and scheduled a Dr to look at his xrays regarding his molars.

Fantastic experience: I had my six month cleaning done at the this office and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and very pleased. I moved here from New Jersey almost 6 years ago, and up until now I couldn’t find a hygienist that would clean my teeth as thorough as they did in NJ. I do have upper implants, which means they wouldn’t touch behind the denture at all here in VA. (Unless it’s taken off, which means it has to be unscrewed). Up until now. This time I was referred to Heather Quesenberry. After taking me in, we talked about what my expectations are, and I have to say she listened, did an amazing job. Finally I found someone who is knowledgeable when it comes to cleaning implants behind the dentures. Heather made my day yesterday, I am looking forward to my next appointment with her of course.

Fantastic experience: I lost a cap on a tooth Friday night. I called on Tuesday and was able to get an appointment on Wednesday morning at the Christiansburg location. I was very impressed with Dr Matthew Rofrichter and his assistant, Brandi. They were both very professional and made sure I was alright during the entire process. I would highly recommend Real Life Dental if you are looking for a dentist.

Fantastic experience: Fabtastic service. The dentist spends plenty of time with me at each visit going over concerns. She lets me know of any problem areas to watch to try and resolve issues before I need cavities filled. The office is very organized and friendly.

Negative experience: Odd, policy of prepay for service ? So if they mess up , to bad for the patient . Policy is very non client positive , and all about them making $$ be prepared to run the gauntlet of sales pitches when you check out. It’s all about the $$$ here .

Positive experience: Everyone is very helpful & so nice. My only problem has been a 3+week wait on permanent crowns. The temporary ones won't stay on more than a day so I have no front teeth. Everyone there has tried to help but nothing worked. It is no one's fault just very frustrating. But

Fantastic experience: Dr. Kim did everything except whistle while he worked so efficiently and expertly on a cavity. He was upbeat as usual and his assistant equally cordial. Dr. Kim takes all the fear generally associated with seeing a dentist moot.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Kim recommended a molar implant where I had an extraction 16 years ago. I took his recommendation and the process was very easy and painless! Dr. Kim and Brittany took amazing care of me, making sure I was comfortable and well informed at each visit. It took 4 visits to complete the process: Visit 1: Full dental scan and xray for lab to create molds to accurately sink the anchor Visit 2: Setting of the anchor into the bone. Sounds scary, but they got me completely numb and I did not feel a thing! Visit 3: X-ray to verify the anchor was accepted and a mold taken so the lab could create my new tooth!! Visit 4: Setting of the tooth After almost 2 decades of cutting my gum often where I had no tooth, and chewing on the opposite side, my quality of life now has improved so much! I am truly grateful for Dr. Kim, Brittany, and my hygienist Heather for their recommendations, their high quality of care, and their ability to create a stress free environment for dental work. I will follow Dr. Kim and his team anywhere! Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: This dentist office is so great. Very accommodating, and a has a really nice building, waiting area, and very comfortable chairs (plus TVs on the ceiling while you’re getting your teeth cleaned!) all that said - it wasn’t even my favorite part. I loved how the dental hygienist explained everything to me while she was cleaning. The evaluation was also really thorough and helped me with doing some different things for my TMJ/TMD, which will also help my gums and tension headaches. I’m thoroughly impressed by the dentist practice, their services, and their attention to detail.

Fantastic experience: I came in to get a crown for a broken tooth. The prep was painless and Dr. Kim was able to make the crown and put it on in less time than I was told. I am pleased with the results.

Real Life Dental has always provided me with exceptional service from basic cleanings, broken tooth repair, to guiding me through wisdom tooth removal. The hygienists are kind and very professional and my dentist is very easy to communicate with. I recommend Real Life Dental to anyone who is looking for a new dentist and this is coming from someone who used to DREAD going to the dentist!

Since they had made the crown, they replaced it at no extra cost and had the new one ready when I arrived for my appointment. Within 30 minutes I was out with a new crown and a smile. Negative experience: Still dealing with a cracked crown that was only 18 months old. I complained of pain from this tooth at both cleanings during those 18 months. It cracked in half and miraculously the pain was gone. Went to get it checked and was quoted 500 dollars to fix it. Then went back for a cleaning and the price had increased to 1900 dollars with the reason being that the dentist that places the initial crown was no longer employed there. Very upset.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was attentive and friendly. Slight mix up with quoting incorrect charges initially but Megan was extremely helpful through it all. Lexi and Dr. Fulop took great care to make sure I was comfortable and felt safe. You all seem to work as a fun and great team with each other and your patients. Happy to have caring practitioners. Fantastic experience: Charles is my hygienist and he was/is amazing! Not only does he accurately recall my specific dental issues & concerns, he exhibits the utmost professionalism & has incredible bedside manner. He offers suggestions to help establish good oral health & hygiene and it is apparent he knows of what he speaks. I’m sure all the hygienists offer fantastic service but Charles really is top tier & is the primary reason for me continuing my business with Real Life Dental. Thanks for all you do, Chris!

Fantastic experience: Growing up I did not have the best experiences with dentist and my teeth were already a sensitive subject for me. Real life Dental has been the one place that has been patient and kind. They have always treated me with such respect and kindness. I’ve been going to their practice since 2017/2018. I started going to them when I was in the Radford area and now live in the Roanoke area. I will still go out of my way to go to them because of how great they are.

Negative experience: I don't want to even give this place one star. The room they put me was dirty, dirt in corners and on windowsills. Dentist didn't even look inside my mouth. The X-ray I was charged for when I arrived at my oral surgeon this office sent was such poor quality and didn't even include the roots of my teeth the redid the X-ray clearly and correctly. The dentist acted like she didn't want to do her job. I gave them all my insurance information and I thought what they told me to pay was high. I received my explanation of benefits from my dentist and then called my insurance. This office made me pay the entire amount of charges but acted like at the office that was after insurance. My insurance said they should have never done that and gave me the correct amount I should have paid. Insurance said Real Life Dental owes me a refund. Now let's see if they actually refund my money. I would never recommend Real Life Dental. I would find a real dental office and not this place. The Betty Business Bureau needs to look into this office.

Positive experience: I was pleased with services but was not informed that the clinic was no longer in united healthcare network until services were rendered. I was not prepared to pay for services and as a result rent or groceries will have to wait.

Negative experience: This is the worst dentist office I have ever been to. It is a cash grab. I was told I would owe one amount when I got there, and when I checked out I was told a significantly larger amount. When I asked why I wasn’t told this amount initially, because that’s a lot of money to be blindsided about, they lied to me telling me I was told before hand. They told me I was told this in my reminder text and they could pull it up and show me. They looked and they were caught in their lie and saw that there was no text telling me I would owe that much. So they told me the person at the front desk told me, but I didn’t even check in at the front desk because it was busy so someone else checked me in so that was also a lie. I was not prepared to pay hundreds of dollars because they told me I would owe something else and decided to add a bunch of cost throughout my appointment without telling me until the end. That is wrong to blindside someone at the end of their appointment with hundreds of dollars after telling them they would owe a smaller amount. I will never be returning here and you should avoid going here unless you want to be blindsided with cost and lied to that you were told about the costs. I have never paid this much money at a dentist in my entire life. I was treated with so much disrespect even though I was the one who caught them in a lie about telling me the cost before hand. They also tried to convince me of many dental problems I apparently had and needed to get treated even though no other dentist had ever told me I had them. I am just in shock that I was flat out lied to about the amount of money would owe yet be treated as if I was the one lying. I have worked at a front desk of a business before and I can not fathom lying and blindsiding people about money and treating a person like I was today.

My experience was nothing but the best and we were able to go through all my options for treatment. They are very respectful and one of the most professional dental businesses out there. Not only will I continue to be a patient here, but my family. I could go on and on about their services because they hit the nail on the head with everything during the appointment. I couldn’t have asked for a better team and experience. I also had fillings done, what an amazing team that cares about your comfort! Even with being pregnant they are able to get my dental needs checked! I really am thankful for Real Life dental and my dentist!

Fantastic experience: It's always a good experience with Dr. Kim and Brittany!! They do excellent work and explain and are very good at they're job. I only have one complaint this is the only dentist office I ever been too where I have to fill out paperwork every single visit that's extremely irritating!! But other than that great place to get your dental work !!

Negative experience: This review should have been a five-star rating, as my family has always been impressed with Dr. Thompson and his staff. However, that changed drastically after my 16-year-old daughter had her fillings done by Dr. Combs. She exhibited the worst bedside manner and caused my daughter harm during the procedure. Dr. Combs performed the entire procedure while blasting loud music and discussing her personal life with her assistant the whole time. She did not acknowledge me as a parent when she entered the room, nor did she stop to check on my daughter's comfort throughout the procedure. She showed no compassion for her patient. My daughter said she was crying and shaking due to pain but felt like she couldn't voice it. After it was completed, my daughter couldn't close her mouth completely on one side. Dr. Combs kept filing down in one area that is now sensitive and told her, “Let’s test drive it” when she told her it felt uneven. We expected some soreness, but now four days later my daughter is experiencing pain and worsening headaches. The inside of her mouth is also scratched. We will not be returning to see Dr. Combs. We believe she is incompetent and the community should be aware.

Fantastic experience: I had my first visit at Real Life Dental and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming. The hygienist was very sweet and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire cleaning process. The check-out process was quick and seamless. Highly recommend this office to anyone looking for friendly and professional dental care!

Positive experience: The care was ok dentist was nice my complaint is how they want to shove crowns down your throat that are very expensive and think everyone can just dish out over 1000 dollars. They act like it’s nothing to pay. First ask me if that is what I want don’t assume and act like that everyone can afford that. 2nd I planned a root canal and at a prior visit set up and paid for it so when I came back there was nothing to pay and at the end … yep had to pay more they left the build up of crown out of the work up price so I had that to deal with. Probably want be going back for the simple fact they push stuff on you.

Fantastic experience: I experienced trauma to my front teeth. My relationship started off with Dr. Combs doing an X-Ray end of day when I could not get into any other dentist. They went above and beyond for their patients from the moment I walked in in distress. ~ Four to six months have passed and we just completed a double root canal. I would travel to come to this location and see the staff as they are true professionals. When Dr. Combs was not available on one of my visits I saw Dr. Fulop. He was very through and even though it was a cleaning he still checked over my general health in a manner I have not quite received before from a dentist. The focus on the patients is superb and they never made me feel uncomfortable. They have a large staff as well to facilitate life as we all may know it. Patient First Professional Confident Quality I highly recommend the Christiansburg, VA location (have not been to any other) and if your in need of a dentist from a cleaning to complex procedure I would not hesitate to see Real Life Dental.

Fantastic experience: What a pleasant dental experience. The staff were amazing, everyone was informative and kind and clearly very competent at their jobs. The ambiance of the facility itself was very comfortable, natural light is in almost every room which made things feel more open, and the equipment was state of the art, so I knew I was getting quality treatment! I really enjoyed my experience there and am looking forward to going back.

He will walk you through every step of the process and explain everything that he is doing. Dr. Fulop also continues to be the best dentist you could want. He carefully comes in to examine what the hygienist has discovered and explains the best, step forward in your dental treatment. Highly recommend Real Life Dental to anyone. They are an exceptional dental service.

Fantastic experience: My experience at Real Life Dental was wonderful! The staff and Dr. Combs made me feel comfortable and listened to my concerns. I must say, I’ve never had such an experience at a dental office. I’m eager to return and I didn’t think I would ever say that about a dental appointment! I highly recommend this office.

Fantastic experience: Dr Combs is the greatest!!! My son has ASD and everyone in the office was patient, caring, kind and allowed my son to have no filter with his humor. We were so impressed and happy that I purchased the in house coverage they offer. No way will my son be going anywhere else!! Clean and high-tech office. Just amazing!! Ty to everyone that's helped me and my son!!!

Fantastic experience: Great place with knowledgeable, friendly staff! By far, the best experience I’ve ever had at a dental office. They have streamlined the process with headsets for constant communication between front and back staff which minimizes waiting time. They also offer a comfort menu to help make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Hof has been the BEST EVER!!! My husband needed quite a bit of work done and he took great care of him throughout this whole summer process… his dental assistant Brandy was a God send to my husband and they both took excellent care of us through this process!!! Highly recommend this office and especially Dr. Hof and Brandy.. thank you guys for a job well done

Positive experience: I did not like this last visit . Reason why is . I told Dr Kim I would need the gas if he pulled a tooth . An that Dr Thompson used the gas for me. Dr Kim told me I could go to Dr thompson an let him do it then. I just want every one to know I would be with Dr Thompson . If he would have took me. He has always been my dentist and I love him an his work. Dr Kim tells you what he is going to do . Not what you want .

Negative experience: Can we give negative stars, because that is how bad our experience was! Would not recommend them to my worst enemy! So many problems and complaints, but here's the gist – 1. Between making our appointments for cleanings (family of 7) and our actual appointments (lucky only 2 of us), the practice stopped taking our insurance. However, they never said anything and we didn’t find out until the bill! 2. Even though online forms were filled out WITH list of medications and health issues WEEKS before appointment and discussed with staff while booking appointments; hygienist and dentist freaked out about meds/condition, and would not allow cleaning until note was given from Neurosurgeon, Vascular Surgeon, and Primary Dr. So only x-rays were taken, not cleaning but was BILLED for cleaning and they REFUSED to not charge me for it since that was what I showed up for, but didn’t receive! 3. I have never been passed around so much, either in an office or on the phone! At visit, receptionist to person who walks you back to hygienist to billing/scheduling. So many people, and none of them helpful! 4. Needless to say, we got a new dentist, but the x-rays we paid for could not be transferred as they encrypted the files (which I’m thankful for) but would not give the new dentist the key to un-encrypt them. I had to drive to the office to get hard copies so that the new dentist could see us so we didn’t pay for the x-rays a 2nd time! I was a patient of Dr. Thompson's father for years before he retired, and I had met Dr. Thompson before he started Real Life which is why I felt safe making the appointments with Real Life. I really couldn't have been more wrong and feel the practice is just out for money, not in it to help and care for patients like his father was. I've reached out several times to the practice and have not heard back from them or Dr. Thompson as I requested. Very sad experience!

Fantastic experience: Everyone was very professional and very friendly. Excellent care by the dentist and his assistant. I am excited to have found Real Life Dental.
