The intake team was timely and reached out to me and got me an appointment today as a new patient. Crystie (Amazing), Tiffany (Sweet Pea), and Angelique (Front desk receptionist, my angel ) were all so patient and understanding to assist me. I was in pain for the past 2 weeks. This was the first office to respond to my emergency . I highly recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: Excellent Experience! Dr. Christian is a personable, caring, and patient professional. For me, going to the dentist is stressful because I expect to experience pain, discomfort, and an exorbitant bill. Absolutely not the case with my experience at Konikoff Dental Associates. I experienced very little to no pain during my major procedure and with my dental plan , I paid almost Nothing out of pocket. I am very grateful for Konikoff Dental Associates.

Negative experience: I have been coming here for years and now that will stop. Can't get a regular 6 month cleaning until February because of lack of patient access. Insane. Got switched to a hygienist only visit without a doctor and the visit felt rushed. Not sure why they are taking in more patients when they can't meet the needs of existing clients.

Fantastic experience: I m one of his oldest patients date back to buying my house in Chimney Hill 1982 and his first office was in the Chimney Hill shopping center. I continue today as everyone on staff is a pleasure to meet and conduct business of a healthy mouth. Over the many years that have passed I gotten to know all the dentists and technicians. Dr Miranda is the man!! Always excellent and positive he the children dentist he just as great with adults who don’t like taking shots in their gums.

Fantastic experience: Dr.Pearl and the staff are extremely polite and are always asking how I am doing during ANY treatment I may be getting done, I have high anxiety and tend to be tense alot during procedures. This has helped me to feel more comfortable during the visit and to have less stress and anxiety with each visit. They also describe what will be occuring during each visit and answer all questions thoroughly.

Fantastic experience: I haven't been to a dentist in a long, long, long, time. Last night I cracked not one but two of my teeth. Called Konikoff in the morning to see when if they could get me in and had an appointment within an hour. Of course, I needed two crowns, and they explained everything involved with the procedure and payment options. The staff were super helpful and friendly and I would definitely recommend this practice!!

He always tries to make me feel comfortable and keeps me informed of everything he will be doing. Negative experience: They only want your money and they are not looking for your best interest. Front desk lady rude and unprofessional. They never sent over my X-rays to my new dentist. I went to pay my deductible and I paid for it in cash the lady counted out the cash in front of me and gave me a receipt and then when I left, she called me saying that I need to give her another $20 even though she literally counted the money in front of me and I counted it with her. And then issued me a receipt saying that I owed nothing with the receipt stating how much cash I gave her and then calls me after I leave asking me to come back in to give more money. She was clearly blatantly trying to steal $20 from me. I do not trust any of the billing staff there they are blatantly trying to steal from customers. Still need my x-ray sent to the new dentist, but I have not received them.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Konikoff Dentistry for 35 years beginning with Dr. Konikoff and now with Dr. Joe Dobson who both have taken excellent care of my dental needs including fillings, crowns and bite guards. Dr. Joe Dobson was the dentist for my 2 children as well and he was wonderful with them and made them feel comfortable and took excellent care of them. Both doctors take the time to listen and treat you like family. The dental hygienists and assistants I have seen have all also given me excellent care and are all very patient and kind. Office staff are always helpful and kind as well. I would highly recommend this Dental Practice to anyone!

Negative experience: Completely ridiculous experience at Konikoff on Lynnhaven and Salem Rd. today! My son had a dentist appointment today, so I stopped by my dentist office, which is downstairs from his, to schedule an appointment for myself. Do you believe they wouldn’t do it?! I had to fill out a request for them to call me to schedule an appointment! I went in and told the receptionist that I needed to schedule an appointment. She was like “Oh, we’re not accepting walk-ins today bc we only have one receptionist.” Obviously confused, I said “Oh, no, I just need to make an appointment.” She said “Yes, that’s a walk in. You’ll have to fill out this form to have them call you to schedule an appointment.” And it’s not like there was anyone else at the counter or anything. I mean, what’s it take, 2-3 minutes to schedule an appointment for someone?! So I have to schedule a time to schedule a time to get my teeth cleaned?! Completely ridiculous!

Positive experience: Love Miranda DDS, he's kind, compassionate and skilled. He is complete with care and listens. Martial DDS should be fired or retired. She's Rude, Unknowledgeable in Medical Issues, and holds NO Empathy for patients. Her dental skills are lacking and her estimation of dental needs incorrect. She isn't a value to this firm.

Fantastic experience: 2024 General cleaning for my 93 year old mom. The hygienist was great with my mom because her mom is Japanese like my mom. She talked a little Japanese to my mom which made her very comfortable. 2025 Now 94 years old, visit was great to have same hygienist. Mom was a little tired walking in from handicap spot so they offered her a wheel chair after visit. They had someone push her out so I did not have to bring wheelchair back in. Fantastic experience: Exceptional staff from check-in to check-out! Melissa was my dental hygienist today, and she was truly amazing and very professional. Konikoff Dental offered additional services in keeping with advanced technologies, which I opted to take advantage of during today’s visit. Melissa fully explained the laser procedure and it was done in 5 minutes, as advertised! Dr. Pearl is so gracious and caring, as this is my third time seeing her. If I could do more than 5 stars, I would.

Fantastic experience: New patient appointment for establishment of care and routine exam/cleaning. The practice is easy to find with plenty of parking. Check-in was easy enough, with only a few papers to sign since you are able to submit your medical history online prior to your appointment. One paper was to opt in or out of an "Oral ID" exam for an extra $34. The one thing I didn't like about this process was that this paper stated "The CDC recommends all patients, ages 17 and above, be screened with the Oral ID annually" which to my knowledge is not true, the CDC recommends annual screenings but does not specify that it should be with the Oral ID device. Your hygienist and dentist already do a visual screening and they will still screen you without the Oral ID if you opt out of it (which this paper does not make clear/known). I looked into Oral ID. The device is basically a fancy blue flashlight and the research (in 98 potentially high-risk oral cancer patients) suggested it may increase the sensitivity and specificity of identifying oral cancers, but the sensitivity and specificity was already pretty high (above 89%) even without the Oral ID. Is it worth $34? That is for you to decide (and depends on your pretest risk and how much that additional sensitivity and specificity vs $34 mean to you). It also looks like there are both dental and medical codes that can be billed for this service, but there was no indication that they would try to bill insurance for it if you were to opt in. Like many other practices, you will get x-rays your first appointment if you don't provide recent x-rays before the appointment. The dental hygienist was polite, efficient, and thorough. She also happened to be from the ODU dental hygiene program where I used to get my cleanings. I was asked if I wanted fluoride treatment at the end for (if I recall correctly) and additional $28 that insurance would not cover. The dentist Dr. Miranda was very polite, personable, and thorough with treatment recommendations. He also had a recommendation for a powered toothbrush that doesn't break the bank. Treatment recommendations did include considering a non-invasive oral device. The check-out desk broke down the expected insurance coverage and out-of-pocket cost, but ultimately the decision was up to me. For all additional offered services (Oral ID, fluoride treatment, oral device), the interactions were low pressure, nobody was "pushy" about making the purchase, and nobody had issues when I would opt out. It may be too early to know, but I have not had any issues with billing or insurance. I was told they were billing my insurance and I was not charged anything as I left my appointment. Overall it is a large dental practice and like any practice must remain sustainable which means it must also be a business. I can't say I'm shocked nor blame any practice for trying to have additional revenue streams, but at least none of it was pressured, though the paper consent for the Oral ID assisted screening was perhaps misleading. Just discuss all your options and alternatives and make informed decisions.

Fantastic experience: Konikoff Dentistry has served my family for over 30 years (Me & my husband and 3 sons from childhood who all are now in their 30"s. Dr Mattioli has been my Dentist for almist the entire period of time starting at her Battlefield office location to her return to the Lynnhaven office location. I missed her for a short time when she transfered to shore Drive office location. Dr Mattioli is an awesome dentist! My trust in her as my dentist reduces some of my anxieties when I have to have dental work. I even referred her to my mother for dental work.
