River Run Dental

Negative experience: Thursday 8-10 received text to confirm appointment tried 6 times to reply message said oops something went wrong. Tried calling at least 3 times finally got a voicemail a replied okay to appointment. Tues the 15th received message that message was confirmed and to fill out form. I filled out in writing and brought to dental office Wednesday at Appointment time. Received a courtesy call from Mario Tuesday the 15th around 6:30pm. Arrived at dental office at 1:50pm for confirmed appointment with Amy day at 2:00pm. Sat in lobby till 2:30. One of the trainees (I guess) came and took me back. She told me that Amy had emergency after I asked, and I questioned about time for appointment being late, she showed me where appointment time had been changed. I' am okay with Amy's emergency and appointment time being changed, but let patient know ahead of time. Also very concerned about not being able to reach office by phone, If you have an emergency. very dissatisfied. May even look for other dentist. Charlie Berry

Negative experience: If i had time to find a new dentist/hadn’t invested so much $ with these ppl they’d never see me again. From the scheduling debacles, to the money hungry ness, it’s horrible. Oh if you’re a working individual(9-5), they make it very hard as far as time/appointments. Extremely money hungry!!! False charges on my account multiple times. I even left work early to make an appointment they rescheduled without my knowledge. Terribly run business. Not personable. Only good thing is it is esthetically pleasing to the sight. Other than that 0/10. Update: a team member never reached out (per review response below). I got a temporary crown on Thursday and within 3 hours it cracked. Inside of my cheek bleeding and swollen from the temp slicing it. “Emergency appt” scheduled for 5 days later.

Negative experience: Good dentists, not so good office staff. They send us an inflated bill and after multiple calls to River Run Dental to no avail I checked with our insurance company to discover that the claim was not sent/processed. Then it AGAIN took multiple calls to River Run Dental for them to submit claim to our insurance. Regardless of how this started it could've been fixed after the first call...let's try to be better!

Fantastic experience: I sincerely hope this review doesn’t fall on deaf ears, because the hygienists, dentists, and managers at this office have all been incredibly knowledgeable and kind, they deserve to be supported by a functioning scheduling system. Unfortunately, I've experienced serious issues with scheduling on two separate occasions. The first time, my appointment was cancelled the day before without any notice. I didn’t receive a call or voicemail, and my missed call log was empty. I tried calling the office multiple times, but each time someone answered and immediately hung up. Texting the provided number was no help. I decided to show up anyway and thankfully, there were no issues when I arrived. Given I needed more dental work, I scheduled another appointment before I left. But again, a week before the appointment, I received another automated message saying it was cancelled, no explanation, no follow-up call or text. I reached out again. No one would answer the phone, but someone via text confirmed that my appointments were still on the schedule. Confused but hopeful, I showed up only to be told I did not have an appointment. This was incredibly frustrating, not only because it had happened before, but because I had arranged childcare for my newborn just to make this appointment. I was on the verge of finding a new dentist, but then Mario stepped in with truly exceptional customer service. He took the time to speak with me privately, apologized sincerely, and managed to fit me in with another doctor. Even if he hadn’t been able to do that, I would have walked away feeling heard and respected thanks to the way he handled the situation. I’m still a patient here solely because of how well I’ve been treated by Mario, Dr. Sinclair, Dr. Adler, and the wonderful hygienists. But if the scheduling system isn’t fixed soon, I can’t keep risking wasted time, missed appointments, and the logistical stress that comes with arranging childcare for nothing. The team deserves better and so do the patients.

Negative experience: It's hard to get anyone to answer the phone and when they do they tell you they will call you back in 15 minutes and never do. I called 3 days straight and every time he told me " I will call you back in 15 minutes " and nothing. I left multiple text messages and all I get is someone will get in touch with you . So don't waist your time with this office I don't recommend

Fantastic experience: I truly appreciate the care I received during my recent visit. I felt listened to and respected throughout the entire procedure. Although I had heard negative things about this type of treatment beforehand, my experience was completely different—in the best way possible. I’m very grateful for both my dental hygienist and my dentist for making me feel comfortable and well cared for.

Fantastic experience: I LOVE going to my dentist's office!!! Riverrun is where I go. Everyone who works there is so nice. They are all very kind and friendly. The most important thing about the staff at Riverrun is they are very professional. They do great work on their patients. What I really, really like about going to Riverrun is the Spa-like treat that you can receive, if you request it. For example, the dentist chair can be turned into a massage chair. One time after a treatment at Riverrun, my dentist asked me if I wanted a "cool" eye mask to help me relax while I sit for a few minutes in the massaging dental chair. Of course, I said, "Yes"! I couldn't believe I was at a dentist office getting this wonderful, relaxing spa-like treatment. When I get major dental work done, I always ask for "gas" because I don't want to feel a thing. I like how at Riverrun requesting that you get major dental work done under the influence of "gas" is no problem. Other dental places have talked me out of not using gas because the gas apparatus will get in the way of the dentist as s/he is working on me. But at Riverrun, the spa-like dental office, using "gas" is on the menu Note: You will have to pay for the "gas" that you get there If you want to go to a dentist office where the whole experience is amazing, Riverrun is the place for you! They even have small bags of snacks and small bottles of water and can sodas in the waiting room!! Thoughtful things like providing snacks and a refreshing beverage to patients as they wait a brief period in the waiting room, makes me love my dentist office at Riverrun.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Vincent is one of the best in the practice! She is experienced knowledgeable and shows compassion during every visit…simply a God send to River Run Dental and the dental industry!

Negative experience: Been trying for 4 days to get a call back regarding rescheduling my appointment due to new dental insurance but all I get is a chat text stating someone from the office will reach out to me. I started this on Monday 07/07/25, it is now Saturday 07/12/25 and still no HUMAN response. Gonna have to rethink this practice. No new patient gift no tour(which would've been awesome)and now no callback. There are more dental options, so I might need to explore those options. I wanted River Run dental to be great but it has fallen short. #myexperience

Negative experience: I have been going to this office for almost 10 years, since before they changed their name to River Run Dental. I love Dr. Adler and I used to really love my dental technician too. However, over the past two or three years I have only had terrible experiences here, and today I've finally decided to find a new dentist. I had a nightmare experience with their Invisalign program. An estimated 6-9 month treatment expanded to 2.5 YEARS, and the whole time, I had to beg the office to get ANY information about my treatment plan. It got so bad that the office manager (who was rude and uncaring, as well as impossible to get a hold of) said they would refer me to their partner orthodontist who would continue the treatment for free. Well, surprise, the orthodontist's office called me and said that the continued treatment would NOT be free, and she had no idea why River Run told me it would be, and that this happens ALL THE TIME. They've had multiple patients referred from River Run with the same misleading info. When I tried to contact the office manager at River Run about it, she never answered my calls and never returned my messages. When I saw her in person, she was incredibly dismissive and once again told me she would "look into it and call me back." Which she never did, of course. So I just decided to stop my Invisalign treatment after 2.5 years. I am not happy with how my teeth ended up, but I really couldn't deal with it any longer, especially being unable to talk to anyone about how long my treatment would ultimately take. Also, they keep scheduling me for 7am appointments and then messing up their schedule. Today was the last straw for me. I was scheduled for 7am this morning. I received a text from River Run last week confirming my 7am appointment. And this morning, I was outside the clinic at 7am-- alone. The receptionist didn't show up until 7:18, and proceeded to tell me they don't have any appointments scheduled for 7am and someone should have called me months ago to fix it. She was so rude and acted like I was a crazy person for showing up to my scheduled appointment on time. She said they could try to "fit me in," but I wasn't on the schedule so she didn't know if they could. This clinic has gone downhill so much. It's sad because I do really love Dr. Adler. But this will be my last appointment here. If I could go back in time, I would tell myself not to start Invisalign treatment here at all, and would encourage anyone considering it to think twice.

Fantastic experience: They have a comfort menu and were very gracious when I stated my preferred pronouns. Highly recommend to folks who have fear/discomfort surrounding dentists. Also, the visit ends with a breakdown of costs for any work needed to be done which was helpful.

Negative experience: *attaching Photo with review aswell because this was too long** I have been coming here for the last 6 years. I always recommend this dentistry to everyone I know because I felt as if the community there was awesome! In the past year or two none of that is true. Everytime I have called 9 out of 10 I don't get anyone and if I do the staff is rude. I have Invisalign that I've started her and God! Do I wish I never got it with this dentistry. You wouldn't even believe how unorganized it has been for me! I came back in to get my next scan for the refinement trays. The tech tried to convince me that I shouldn't do the refinement because it was only minor changes and wasn't sure if the refinement would even do anything (even though my front two teeth still have a gap with a lot of spacing on the top row of my mouth and over crowding on my bottom with the front bottom teeth over lapping each other) She also warned me it would probably be months of the trays again. Which if Im paying this much to get them straight what are a couple more months! I said all that was fine and we scheduled my next visit for about a month out because that's how long it would take my trays to arrive. I come into my appointment and my tech was a bit confused and asked me why I was in. I told her I was there to pick up my refinement trays. She informed me that my scan was never even sent out! Blamed it on the person who I saw before even though she was in the room assisting her the entire time. She told me not to worry and she would expedite it for me for the inconvenience, she informed me "it will probably be a week and a half - two weeks tops" and gave me the option to mail to me. I told her to let me know when they came in and I would either pick them up or she could mail them depending on what was going on. I thought that was nice and I updated my address with her just in case. During this same appointment I was informed my balance was 3K?!?! and going to collections?!?! I told them there was no way that was right and was not going to leave until they told me where the money I paid went or to fix my balance! It took about an hour but they "found" my payments and blamed it on the new system! (which they also did this to atleast three other people I know and won't answer when you call) Fast forward I message the tech through my dental monitoring app almost weekly about updates on arrival. Come to find out she did not in fact expedite anything, if it's going to take 4 weeks still then don't tell me otherwise! You set an expectation and had no follow through! No updates! Nothing! After many messages with no response I finally got one saying they have arrived(Tuesday)and if I wanted them to be mailed or to pick them up, I responded and said I would pick them up. I went to pick them up, where I waited for a little over 20 minutes before finally brought back ( mind you I was just there to pick up the trays) Mario informed me he mailed them on Friday!! I messaged them Thursday regarding the arrive of my trays with NO response!! I was very frustrated not to MENTION they mailed them to the wrong address. I expressed my frustration and anger with Mario with it all. he was very kind and told me he would stay on it for me. In disbelief that he would do anything to my surprise he went above and beyond to get my trays personally which was a complete surprise based my recent experience with river run. This whole situation has shown me that River run is not only disorganized, no communication but has zero regard for the time of others, I am saddened because River Run has completely gone down hill which is very sad because in the past they were the best in all Richmond. Im not happy with river run nor my Invisalign journey!

Fantastic experience: I was very happy with my first appointment at River Run Dental. My son recommended me too come there and I’m very thankful. Dr. Sinclair and hygienist Ms. Amy are understanding and patient with me. I have had trying experiences pryor that wasn’t pleasant. They both were a blessing. Thank you!

Positive experience: All great except issue with your oxygen tank running out and aparatus uncomfortable.I am trying to reach my portable batt operated supplier to see if safe for Dental work. Also got text for bill after being told nothing owed. Should have gone to insurance I thought. Will call you tomorrow on that.Staff and building excellent close to me which matters when my oxygen only lasts 1 hour before needing charge.

Fantastic experience: Ugh it’s time for a root canal:( met with Dr Kahn who listened to my concerns and went over everything. He was very thorough and kind, his assistant was equally amazing. Love this practice and how they work with me and my dental anxiety. I will always recommend them.

Positive experience: Adding a patient portal for communication with the practice would be a significant improvement over the current system, which involves unreasonably long wait times just to reach what seems to be the sole scheduler. It's especially frustrating to wait on hold for eight minutes, only to be disconnected and asked to wait for a text message that never gets a response. I’ve been a patient of this practice for many years and have dealt with these frustrations for quite some time now, but the ongoing difficulty in getting anything done without physically going to the office is becoming increasingly exhausting. Thank goodness for the phenomenal providers at Shrader Road or I'd have given up.

Fantastic experience: First visit. Efficient check-in, pleasant lobby, taken back to exam room on time. I was handed a “comfort menu” which was a first! You can chose a neck pillow, blanket or other amenities designed to make you comfortable (no alcohol ). An oral cancer exam was done with some type of special light instrument. Good thorough cleaning and very importantly a dentist who spent time answering my questions about future tooth implant. A very good first experience.

Fantastic experience: I went in for my routine cleaning although it had been over a year I had been in. Everyone was pleasant and my hygienist, Cathy Jo, was so sweet. I had been through 2 years of health issues and been on blood thinners so she was very understanding on why my gums were bleeding. I saw Dr. Sinclair and she was wonderful. There is some restoration work to be done on a couple of molars so she made her suggestions and I booked an appointment to go back in next month to get the work done. I have been a patient with River Run for over 20 years and love that there are so many female dentists working there. They have smaller hands which makes the experience much better for me. I recommend River Run Dental to anyone who is looking for a new dental practice.

From the moment I walked in, the customer service was outstanding—every single team member I interacted with was warm, professional, and genuinely kind. They immediately put me at ease, which meant a lot since I hadn’t been to the dentist in years due to some pretty negative past experiences. The atmosphere of the office was incredibly welcoming and calming, which helped ease any anxiety I had. The staff took the time to explain everything clearly, never made me feel rushed, and were extremely attentive to my comfort throughout the entire visit. If you’re someone who’s hesitant about going to the dentist or looking for a place where you’ll truly feel cared for, I can’t recommend this location enough. Recently, I had a crown that came off, and River Run Dental was very responsive in getting a new one made and put back on. Negative experience: I normally do not post reviews, but I feel as if I need to share my experience with this dental practice in hopes that I can save someone else from going through something similar. I have given full details of my experience below for those who'd like to read in full, but here's a quick summary: River Run's billing department is horrendous. I have been trying to settle a $300 "outstanding balance" with them for years. I paid for Invisalign in full up-front, and after completing treatment, I was told that the outstanding balance on my account was due to an issue on their end. After dealing with this for years, with reassurances that they were handling this issue along the way, they sent me to collections. -- Full experience below: I went through Invisalign at this practice in 2021. After running it through my dental insurance, I opted to pay in full up front for the portion of what my insurance did not cover. Upon completing my Invisalign treatment plan, I was informed that I had an outstanding balance on my account for about $300. As I had pre-paid in full, I was reassured that this was an issue on their end. They stated that they needed to resubmit with my insurance. Every few months, I would receive a bill for this ~$300 from River Run. Both through phone calls and in person (I've talked about this to so many different staff members, including the billing office and office managers) I was assured they were looking into it. They saw the notes on my account, and told me not to worry. Flash forward to 2024 (yes, this had been ongoing for years at this point). I received a text message that River Run is going to send me to collections if I do not pay in 3 weeks. I call the office, and am told I need to speak to the office manager, but she is unavailable and will have to call me back. Almost 3 weeks later, three days before the "send to collections" date, I finally received a call from the office manager. The office manager goes through my account with me, and says that this little over $300 is not actually all from Invisalign. On top of the Invisalign balance, it's a couple of dollars owed from a fluoride treatment here, a couple of dollars owed from another fluoride treatment there. I explain that I always pay for fluoride after my cleanings, so I'm not sure how I would have leftover balances from that. She states that I am correct! Actually only one of the fluoride treatments from years ago has an outstanding balance. They "applied a promotional deal" to the fluoride, but it turns out the promotion was actually invalid, so now I owe a few dollars for that treatment. I ask if I can pay for that now, and she tells me to just pay during my next office visit for a cleaning. (When I went for my final cleaning at this practice, I tried to pay for this fluoride "outstanding balance" and the staff member I spoke to did not see what I was referring to on my account, so I could not pay it) As for the outstanding Invisalign balance. At no point could anyone tell me exactly what specifically this balance was for, other than that it was from Invisalign. The same was true for this call with the office manager. She assured me that she would reach out to my insurance (as I have been told every time I've talked to someone about this issue), and that she would call me back as soon as possible. Three months later...I got the call back. Apparently, after speaking with my insurance, the insurance has not received anything from River Run about this outstanding balance in years. So River Run will make sure to get that submitted now! And promised that they would keep me updated. This was in mid-October 2024. My only update from River Run is that they have sent me to collections. :) During all of this, I kept going back because I truly liked my dentist. My hygienists have always been friendly. But, with shady billing practices, it's just not worth it. There are plenty of other dental practices out there with great dentists and proficient billing departments.

Negative experience: Unfortunately the service has gone down hill. I never can get anyone on the phone to schedule or inquire about anything; they make you communicate via text stating someone will get back with you and they never do. More recently, I recommended my mother to this location and she did not receive any of the complimentary services, i.e. water/aromatherapy/etc.. they offered me when I first visited nor did they acknowledge her as a new patient. I've been waiting weeks to find out if my Invisalign trays are in and have been getting the same automated response. The only time I actually spoke with someone was when a girl called to tell me they had to cancel my appointment because my trays were not in. Ridiculous.

The doctors and technicians there are top notch for their kindest, punctuality and professionalism. I live on the other side of the river now but will make it a point to continue opting to be seen at the Richmond location.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Sinclair and Jessica took great care of me in putting in my temporary crown. Both were kind, concerned for my comfort, and took their time so I didn't feel rushed.

Fantastic experience: Very patient, thought I left my wallet at home, so receptionist started to reschedule me, then I decided to take one more look in my car and found it, so I was able to be seen. Dental hygienist very friendly, walked me back, kept me well informed. Dr. Khan, very friendly, explained testing he was going to do to determine if I would need root canal. At checkout business Manager friendly and informative. Definitely great group of people, highly skilled and great customer service, not to mention very nice office space.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely outstanding care. No stone was left unturned from thorough exam, to detailed cleaning, to insurance research, to elaborate explanations and preventative planning. If you’re a new patient like I was ask for Amy to be your hygenist. She is Smart, personable, constantly concerned for your comfort, and happy to divert the conversation from dentistry to cycling, horses, and Virginia driving practices.

She was just awesome, when I tell you, little or no pain, this visit, my first with her was wonderful. A special thanks to her assistant Kiersten, the best supportive person a person could ask for. Positive experience: I generally always a nice visit. I've been a patient at River Run Schrader since I moved from NC 2YRS ago. My 5YO, too. The staff are always nice. I haven't had a poor experience. My visit today was lovely. The dental hygienist was informative, honest, and welcoming. The office is always clean. They offer different things to relax you. Today I learned the chairs have a really mild massage feature lol.

Fantastic experience: from the kindness and competency of all the staff, to the tiny little chapsticks they have available to help keep your lips from cracking during treatment, the neck pillows and sunglasses available during appointments, to the warm moist lavender scented towels they offer before you leave, and the free La Croix flavors and coffee in the lobby, this place does everything it can to make your visit feel comfortable and safe. i love going to the dentist now!

Negative experience: Impossible to get anyone to answer the phone. I called and would be told, "you are the 2nd caller in line" and then get transferred to voicemail. Over and over and over and over and over again. I texted with their automated number for scheduling and was repeatedly told someone would reach out! No one. Ever. Reached. Out. Going elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: River Run always makes sure I’m comfortable and well taken care of. The hygienist is gentle and careful not to hurt me, which hasn’t always happened in the past at other practices.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Adler is amazing. Her and the entire staff at River Run Dental were warm and so upbeat from the time I checked in to the time I walked out. I went in to get my teeth fixed and from my first visit to my last I have been so THRILLED with the results. I would recommend this practice to everyone that wants to feel better about themselves. Negative experience: I got Invisalign through them. Everything went great with that process. I have been trying to get them on the phone for over three weeks to try to get a replacement retainer. Every single time I get them on the phone they have to “ask someone something” and they will “call me right back”. This has happened multiple times with no call back and then I sit on hold to get back in touch with them for 30+ minutes for them to repeat that process again and again. I spent a lot of money to get Invisalign through them, and without my bottom retainer all that money will be wasted. Not to mention I make my routine 6 month cleaning appointments 6 months ahead of time and THEY cancelled my last appointment and didn’t have any openings for a cleaning until 4-5 months past when my cleaning was scheduled for and essentially told me it was my problem not theirs. If you want good customer service or availability to be able to make an appointment or even get someone to simply give you a call back, this is not the place for you.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at River Run Dental is so pleasant and lovely. Every staff member has treated me with so much kindness, respect, and transparency. Their casual nature, personally, makes me feel so comfortable whenever I'm there. I'm only living in Virginia for 2 years now and leaving the state again soon, but I am really upset that I have find a new dentist office because River Run is the most phenomenal dentist experience I've ever had in my life.

Negative experience: I've been a patient with River Run for well over 5 years. In the beginning they were great. The snack station, coffee/tea bar and little gifts they give for better comfort was a plus but dont let that fool you. They hardly ever answer the phone. After holding for a while to speak with someone, they disconnect the call and send you a text message only to say that someone will be in contact with you and they never reach out. I've literally had to go in person to schedule an appointment. There's been 2 separate occasions where I went in complaining of tooth pain and they gave me fluoride toothpaste and sent me on my way. They informed me that there was no cavity and that my teeth were just sensitive only to later tell me that I needed a root canal. On one occasion I guess the owner felt bad as he instructed the staff to book me with him just for him to say "no cavities, try this fluoride toothpaste but instead of rinsing, let it sit and you should notice improvement." A couple weeks later, no improvement and the pain was worse. I went in and was told that I needed a root canal. It seems like everytime it's always "you need a root canal." How does this go unnoticed? What happened to filling a cavity? The months/years I've been complaining and being given fluoride toothpaste when I should've been having a filling. Seems to me like they only care about the money and not the quality of service. There was one girl who was so rude and condescending when giving me my treatment plan. She didn't even provide me with accurate information. I ended up speaking with Amy who was phenomenal but sadly, she's one of a handful there who provide good customer service. I was really hoping that River Run could've been the one for me but I think it's time for me to seek other options.

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit, and it was a wonderful experience! My hygienist was Amy, and she was Awesome! This was, by far, the best experience I’ve had at a dental appointment. From the staff, who were amazing to the menu of items they offer to keep you comfortable during your visit- that was a great option to provide patients! Dr. Saavedra was Awesome! Very professional, explained options very thoroughly and provided a treatment plan, which worked well within my budget! Thank you all so much and see you soon!

Fantastic experience: This was probably the best dental experience I’ve ever had. I only wish I’d switched to them sooner. Every single person was so sweet, they were all very thorough, and the office was gorgeous. Also I swear the chair slightly massaged my back the whole time. Crazyyy. Loved it

Fantastic experience: I have been going to River Run on Shrader Road for a few years now and have always had a wonderful experience! Everyone is always so kind and helpful— from the front desk to the treatment coordinator. I usually see Dr. Rusnak, but had to reschedule my Invisalign initial fitting and cleaning last minute which led me to working with Dr. Saavedra. He was so nice, explained everything thoroughly and really took his time. I came in at 8am and ended up coming back later in the afternoon for a filling and a crown. The whole team listened and emphasized with my situation (my dental benefits were changing suddenly) and were so gracious to find a way to fit me in same day. I am so thankful for this team and the experiences that I have had, although it has come with challenges. I will say it does feel impossible to get someone on the phone and I did have several issues getting my Invisalign trays in, resulting in having to rescan a few times. With that being said, this team really makes me feel cared for and things happen so I will continue to happily visit this practice. Oh, and ALL of the assistants and hygienists are SOOO sweet!!!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Alexa Vinson very thorough and caring.I’m terribly afraid of the dentist and Dr. Vinson very sensitive to that and goes the extra mile To make you feel comfortable! Very professional and attention to detail. River Run dental clinic was prompt in confirming appointments, the staff was extremely courteous!

Negative experience: I have never had a bad experience with this dentist office until yesterday. Went in for a cleaning and the hygienist was super rough!!! Left with a mouth full of blood and terrible gum pain, so bad so that the gums were swollen for an entire day! So much blood that the hygienist had to continuously use the suction tube multiple times. They could tell I was uncomfortable and asked me if I was ok and I was like it hurts and all they could say was “you need to brush harder” are you kidding me my teeth are very healthy!! Never had a cavity! The doctor that came in however was very kind and seen that I was bleeding and she even used the suction tube. For whatever reason this dentist office is not how it use to be and it’s honestly sad…
