Positive experience: The dentists and hygienists are good with the children. Love they updated the lobby. But the last two simple check-ins we have arrived 5 mins early and have had to wait over 30 mins past our appointment time to be seen for a standard cleaning. Something is missing in their processes for this to happen twice 6 months apart.

Unfortunately, we have had to put several precautions and health screenings in place in order to ensure the safety of our campers and our team during this global pandemic. While we are taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety of all, our team still maintains efficient, thorough, and fun visits. Our Excelsior location is 5 years old and is not located in a large medical facility. It is a great option for those seeking such an environment. We are so glad to hear all else went well with your visit! We appreciate your understanding while we have worked hard to create a positive experience as we adjust to our new normal. Fantastic experience: Dr. Dwight at Camp Smile Orthodontics went above and beyond yesterday as our daughter has several months to go in her braces journey but recently has had some health issues and is needing an MRI, we surprisingly got one for next week and he made time and rearranged schedules to get her braces off and get a retainer made for her so she can get the MRI as fast as possible. They were so kind and I am so grateful as it's already stressful and they made it easy. I was already happy with their care and now I am Thrilled with it! I highly recommend them and their dentistry team as we've been using them for over 12 years I have two older kids now they were very sad to outgrow them I mean everyone wants a superball after your appointment! I have a sad follow up to report, our insurance has now changed and we didn't know they were out of network nor did they ask our minor child for her new card prior or after treatment, instead she was treated as "normal" and now we are left with a huge bill that should've been "free" and the staff is unwilling to help. while I understand some of that is on me for not double checking it's also on them for treating her with no new documents in place. We even offered to go halves as there's fault on both sides. Just a consumer be ware as our family has spent A lot there over the years with three kids and I thought we'd be treated better than this. I think reviews should be honest and are here to help guide so hopefully my issue won't be yours one day!

Negative experience: They won't inform you if your insurance is out of network, even if they know that it is when booking the appointment and when they check you in. Worse, they then push for unnecessary things that I obviously would have said no to if I had known they were out of network. Insanely expensive for a quick, simple kids' visit.

During both the onboarding process and in all of our new patient paperwork (which is signed by legal guardians), we explain that the relationship is between the policyholder and their insurance provider. It is the responsibility of the policyholder to understand their plan’s network status, coverage, limitations, and annual maximums, as this information is provided directly by your insurance company. To help ensure families are not surprised by coverage decisions, our team submits pre-estimates to insurance prior to any recommended treatment. We are actively implementing software improvements to provide real-time estimates from insurance carriers, but ultimately, these benefits remain governed and disclosed by your insurance company . Our specialty-trained, board-certified dentists base every treatment recommendation solely on clinical expertise and the best interest of your child’s oral health. They are highly trained, conservative in their approach, and treat each case as if it were their own family, not based on insurance coverage or fees. Additionally, our fees are well-researched and are consistent with other specialty clinics in our region. In fact, our revenue cycle management team continuously reviews pricing benchmarks to ensure our services remain competitive, especially considering the specialized care we provide. We understand your concerns and want to support you through them. Fantastic experience: Morgan and Dr. Colin were so amazing with our 17 month old. She came home and played with her new toothbrushes! We learned great tips to get her started with dental hygiene, and we couldn't be happier . We just had her 2 year mark appointment and Again my daughter was treated with great care and fun - songs and patience and great treatment- we even got to see how her teeth are coming in and did a fluoride treatment successfully- no small feat with a barely 2 year old. Negative experience: Be aware if you need to schedule a frenotomy, they won’t bill your health insurance. They give you a form to submit for reimbursement. I was not told this until we showed up for our appointment and were turned away because we couldn’t pay $750 for the surgery up front. Will not be back and wouldn’t recommend going here since they’re not transparent with their policies while booking the appointment.
Sarah, we are truly sorry to hear about your frustration and want to extend our sincere apologies for any misunderstanding surrounding your scheduled appointment. While we regret any confusion, our protocol is to inform families at the time of scheduling about the financial process for frenectomy procedures in order to help avoid any surprises. As a dental clinic, we are able to bill dental insurance when applicable. However, because frenectomies are often covered under medical insurance, we provide families with the appropriate medical claim form so they can submit for direct reimbursement. This is a very standard and common practice, similar to how general anesthesia or other medical services are often handled. If your medical insurance covers the procedure, you would still receive the benefit directly from your insurer, and this process has worked very well for many families. We would genuinely appreciate the opportunity to speak with you further and better understand your experience. Please contact us at 763-383-1788 and ask to speak with our practice administrator. She would be happy to assist you and help address any remaining concerns.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Hugh and the staff are great at communicating about my daughter’s progress and the next steps with her braces. They are also quick and efficient and I appreciate that. I miss Dr. Bobbi but I know we are in good hands with Dr Hugh and the staff!

Fantastic experience: Outstanding experience. Hard to find neurodiverse-affirming care in an ultra fun environment. Love their motto of “rewriting the pediatric dental experience.” Best part? You get to use a token in the bouncy ball machine at the end of your visit! My AuDHD daughter loved this part -AND- she still got to pick out her favorite color bouncy ball from the front desk afterwards (#win). Bonus logistics that helped: TV screens with Netflix on the ceiling during cleaning/procedures, colorful waiting area with play climber, patient staff that take the time to explain & teach, NO SHAMING about brush/floss/etc, and alternate prizes of chapstick & mints (for kids who don’t want a bouncy ball).

Fantastic experience: I brought my 2.5 year old and it was such an amazing experience. Our dental assistant Amber and Dr. Bobbi were amazing with my daughter. The entire way home she begged to go back to the dentist! The details they have and the way they keep her comfortable are truly fabulous! My only feedback on the negative is they have first time patient forms both electronic as well as paper. They take a ton of time to do both and are fairly redundant. Offering one or the other would sure help a busy working mom. Every time we go we are more and more impressed. Now been going there for six years!

Negative experience: This is an unfortunate review for we had been bringing our kids here for a few years now. But over the years a terrible trend had developed it so happened that camp smile will over inform you of your appointment. But then every time I would get my kids there 20 15 10 minutes early the same thing would happen. Oh sorry we’re not ready for you even though if we’re late we’re charged 250 dollars. And these pattern happened all the time and on top of them saying that were early I would see families coming after us and wait 1/2 minutes and go right in . And so after a couple of years of this I am starting to feel it’s because my family is not white and that we are a black family that we would be treated like this. I’m not calling any particular person or group of people racist. But it is unfortunate that begin the only black faces in the lobby waiting and continuously watching white familys go in before you. And this has happened for a couple years this way and it’s hard not to feel like there’s a hint of racism involved by someone. And no one every treated my kids like such or myself but the actions of waiting and always seeing white familys get helped before us after we had been there early via camp smile request so we are not penalized. And then to see people walk right in every single time is over frustrating. We will no longer come back to camp smile because movie tickets just don’t help the feeling of being treated has we’re not as important as the clients. And I know if I had expressed this in the moment I would had come across as an angry black man who doesn’t understand camp smile is busy and there sorry for us waiting. That would be fine if it was once maybe twice but very six months for a few years yeah there’s more to the situation than that I feel. And I was very very angry today but I want to show my children a better way and that there more important than anyone else may thing. But this is our last visit to camp smile I hope this response helps you find a better way to no seem a type away to non white clients.

At Camp Smile, we are proud to serve families from diverse cultures and backgrounds, and we uphold the core value of treating every individual with equal dignity and respect. Race, background, creed, or any other factor has no role in how patients are treated or seated. Patients are brought back based solely on the schedule of the provider they are seeing, and with multiple doctors working in one location, this can sometimes result in the perception that families are being seated later or after others, but is again solely base on the provider’s availability with whom they are scheduled. Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend Dr. Mary Tran-Wexler enough! She released my newborn daughter’s tongue tie, and the entire experience was incredible despite the circumstances. She was so kind and professional, which immediately put me at ease. What I appreciated most was how thoroughly she explained the procedure and aftercare, she listened to my concerns and ensured I understood every step and felt comfortable. Fantastic experience: My daughter fell and wasn't a patient yet. They were so kind and helped me get her in as soon as possible. It was such a stressful day for me, and the person I talked to on the phone was so kind. Once we got there, everyone was very welcoming. The dentist we saw was incredible with my 16 month old and made me feel better. The front desk gave my daughter a duck, and it made her day. We look forward to coming back for many years.

Fantastic experience: Camp smile never disappoints! Our appointment started around 10 minutes late, which is totally understandable. Upon leaving, we were handed a handwritten note a personal apology and a special gift to thank us for patiently waiting. It was totally unneeded, but a wonderful display of customer service!

Positive experience: This is a great running business. They use conventional methods to clean your childs teeth. Their dental surgery is very well run. High prices with our insurance but I'm sure any others would be the same.

Fantastic experience: We love Camp Smile and we love this location. My 3 1/2 year old was a little nervous today (understandably). The bus and climbing structure he could explore before his appointment really helped make him feel at home. Every person we spoke with was kind and wonderful with my toddler. Our hygienist was perfection.

Fantastic experience: Everything about camp smile was wonderful. From the fun and inviting office and patient rooms to the staff. I believe my daughters hygienist was Lindy and she spoke to my toddler in away she understood and made her feel comfortable with her first visit. She was literally miss Rachel in scrubs. Lol. Dr.Collin was amazing! He gave daughter options as to what she wanted to do for teeth cleaning and exam. He made her feel like part of the exam and explained the tools he was using. Best experience ever. If you have kids, bring them here. You will not be disappointed. Great job Camp Smiles! You made this Dad smile.

Fantastic experience: The place was very welcoming. My son (autistic and ADHD, 6 1/2 years old) loved the play setup in the waiting area. The staff was all warm and kind to both of us and I didn’t feel judged for how my insurance had caused delays in finding a dentist. My son had everything explained to him patiently and he was allowed to touch things before they went into his mouth. The hygienist and dentist both went at his pace and respected him and answered all of his questions. I was merely an accessory in the room for mild emotional support and his transportation. I didn’t hesitate to call back and set up my other son for an appointment tomorrow morning after we got his autism diagnosis. (They only take MA for kids with certain disabilities.)

Fantastic experience: Camp Smile is amazing! From the moment you walk in we are always greeted by friendly staff and the waiting rooms are kid friendly making any child feel relaxed and comfortable. I’ve never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time and we’re typically called back before my youngest makes it through the play area LOL! The knowledgeable and incredibly friendly dental assistants and doctors are incredible, every staff member and doctor takes their time and works around my children’s needs, they are present and focused and take however much time is needed to make my kids feel comfortable and safe. I also take comfort in knowing that they have the latest technology for example, they have a new technology for fillings that’s totally different, much quicker and painless which is amazing. My kids are spread out in ages from 5 to my oldest being in braces so I’ve had the opportunity to experience the high quality service for a multitude of different services and I can honestly say I’ve never left feeling completely satisfied and grateful for such an awesome place that caters to kids. The experience is consistent between locations as well - in my experience it’s a culture of care thats a standard within the company and it reflects through everyone that works there. We’ve have some “unique” circumstances and their support staff couldn’t be nicer and more helpful. They even went the extra mile to work with my insurance to submit requests that are typically denied by most insurance companies but to their support staff it was about doing the right thing not what was convenient and that’s hard to find these days. To say it simply…The name fits because all three of my kids walk out smiling after every visit and so do I!

Fantastic experience: The staff were friendly, and most importantly, the environment and approach by the whole team were very focused on making sure that the experience was not only not traumatic for our 2 year old, but even a positive and fun one. The kiddo enjoyed climbing around and driving the play van before the visit, and the bouncy ball at the end. During the visit itself, the techs and dentist were thoughtful to explain the minimum that they would do at the visit (brush teeth) and, if our kid seemed open to it, gradually adding in more (exam with mirror, flossing, flouride, etc.). By focusing on not pushing our kid’s limits, they actually ended up making our toddler comfortable enough they were able to do it all. Look forward to successful future visits.

Fantastic experience: They are so good with my 3 kids, explaining everything as they go so there are minimal surprises as they get used to going to the dentist. The waiting room is very fun and my kids are always excited to go to the dentist knowing they will get a token to use the bouncy ball machine at the end.

Positive experience: Attentive, kid focused staff and dentists. Very helpful over the phone. Thumbs up mostly. They’ve been somewhat supportive of my choice to not use fluoride but a little antagonistic of it (at least initially) as well as delaying X-rays. We also have had some pretty subpar cleanings. We went to our orthodontist dentist immediately after a camp smile cleaning and the assistant said- it looks like I need to do some cleaning before the doctor comes in- just some build up we want to get off… I had just come from another cleaning appt for the same kiddo! But overall, I like them- especially for people who don’t prefer biological dentistry. It would be awesome if they had a dentist there that was more holistic in their approach for those of us that appreciate a less conventional approach.

Negative experience: I took my 3 yr old autistic son there about a month ago, he was overstimulated of course which is normal for him but we had better experience his first time at different dentist and they were very helpful when he did get overstimulated, we also waited in the waiting room for an hr or so, I had to take him in the hallway to calm him down before someone came to get us for our turn, but the upsetting part is that we went over his needed procedures and they were supposed to get back to me to schedule appointment but no one ever followed up with me nor did they call to try scheduling his appointment, honestly I would go elsewhere for his services… Disappointing!!

Negative experience: Let me start off by saying that I rarely write bad reviews. The dentists we saw were fine: sweet, understanding people. But the way the office is run is frustrating. The biggest thing I want people to know is if you are military, do not come here. They say they work with TRICARE, but only partway. Anyone in the military understands how hard it is to actually check if an office is in network, so I took the office’s word for it. (They do tell you to double check, so that part is on me.) Our out of pocket bill ended up being over $1400 to get our 6 children’s teeth cleaned. I called the office and asked if they would be willing to adjust the price at all and they refused, but offered a payment plan…. not helpful. That is how I would describe this entire office: not helpful. I should have run the other direction when the receptionist saw me with all 7 of my small children in the office and still insisted that I continue to rewrite things over and over on the new patient paper work. All so she could type them into the computer. She actually rejected the paper work when I would write “same” for the repetitive information. Not to mention that the visit for 3 of my children took 3 hours! Overall, a terrible experience for us. Make sure they work with your insurance (completely) before coming here.

You are 100% correct in stating that our team can assist with guidance on specific insurance policies and benefits, but will not guarantee what your specific plan coverages entail. With thousands of insurance policies, it is crucial for the legal guardian to verify the benefits with their insurance company prior to the visit, as the contract is directly between you and your insurer. Our role is to submit for payment on your behalf. This information is stressed both in the new patient paperwork and new patient phone calls. Regarding your frustrations with new patient forms, we understand that providing all the necessary information can be time-consuming when you have several littles. To improve this process, we transitioned several months back to an electronic process which is significantly faster and folks are not stressed out completing them in our facility prior to the start of the visit. We appreciate your understanding and thank you again for your feedback. Our providers and team are constantly working to improve our systems and processes within the clinic for all families.
Fantastic experience: Summer who was my daughters hygienist was AMAZING! She literally showed her everything she used and explained it in a way a child her age would understand. She let her touch things so she would feel comfortable. It made the whole visit so much easier and put my daughter at ease. My daughter is definitely more comfortable with going to the dentist and is already ready to go back again.

Negative experience: Was told by the front desk lady they haven't been taking new patients in over 4 years, but there are reviews from 4 MONTHS ago of people talking about their first visit! I told the lady my baby has a lip tie that needs to be corrected and that they are literally the only place my insurance will cover. Thanks for the help I guess

Fantastic experience: Camp Smile does an amazing job, each time we visit!! The ladies at the front desk at check in and check out are so friendly and sweet. The dental hygienist was the absolute best! She was patient, gentle and explained everything to my boys and that definitely helped calm any nerves while they were in the chair. Fantastic experience: My daughter had a great experience at Camp Smile! After being VERY scared and having a couple not so great experiences at other dentists, she was pretty nervous - but I was surprised how well she breezed through her cleaning and x-rays! The hygienist explained everything, went at my daughters pace, offered choices of flavors, and was overall fantastic. We will be coming back to Camp Smile!

I just wanted to express my gratitude for the staff at Camp Smile especially Dr. Britta and her assistant Abby at the excelsior location. We are working through a treatment plan for my son and we’ve had a couple visits but he loves coming here. The level of comfort, explanation, and reassurance is outstanding. Negative experience: It was our first visit. We were early. We were seen 15 minutes late. Fine. Then our hygienist was amazing and cleaned and made daughter comfortable. We then waited about 40 minutes for a Dr....... To arrive..... They never did.... Our hygienist has to go get another Dr to see us... So we time to see us was 11:10. In 11:30. Done with hygienist at 11:45. Then Dr arrived at 12:30... As a parent this was a very poor experience. It's an appointment based clinic. The Dr missed our appointment. My daughter however had a great experience, and was sad about waiting, but not upset. That's what's important to me. Hoping for better next time.

Fantastic experience: Took our kiddo here today. We've been hesitant since he has autism, but holy cow, they were fantastic here. They made him so comfortable, allowed him to explore and touch as necessary to satisfy his senses, and encouraged him to do such a great job. I'm so glad we went here as we want to make the dentist fun and would recommend Camp Smile for all kids, including those that are neurodivergent!

Fantastic experience: I could not have been happier with our experience at the Plymouth location of Camp Smile. The appointments were easy to book, staff very helpful and friendly over the phone. My toddler (2), loves the waiting room with the big car to drive and climb. I brought both of my littles at the same time (2 yrs and 10 months), and they each had a great experience. My 2 yr old is typically VERY wary of strangers and I wasn’t even sure they would be able to even get her to open her mouth, but they were very accommodating with letting her sit on my lap the entire exam, and the hygienist was so patient and calm- she was able to brush and floss my daughters teeth without any tears! A miracle. The dentist was equally friendly and patient. On the way out the staff gives you a token to get a bouncy ball out of their big machine and it was the highlight of my daughter’s whole day:) We will definitely be coming back! The only slight downside is parking kind of sucks because the lot is really busy since it’s in the hospital building- just give yourself a few extra minutes.

Fantastic experience: It is really nice seeing how intentional Camp Smile is about their space from the design of the building to the thought strategy of the dental hygienists and dentists . I love that the staff is willing to meet the child where they are at based on each kid's individual needs and are so patient. I watched my kid go through an entire exam and I'd never seen him so comfortable in a dentist chair! The assistant patiently explained each task she was going to perform, likened it to something relatable to a child, and patiently began the task being mindful of the kid's response and pausing for breaks as needed. It was so comforting to witness as a parent! I can't imagine taking my kid elsewhere. I'm grateful to have found this place and recommend them to anyone who will listen!

Fantastic experience: Quick and thoughtful response by on-call emergency dentist (during 4th quarter of the SuperBowl) assured us we could safely wait until morning to address the issue. Easily got appt at 10 am Monday am. Doc McGuire (sp?) was thorough, thoughtful, helpful and reassuring. And he was able to do the “fix” procedure to repair two chipped teeth right away. So, my teen daughter chipped her teeth during Q3 of the SuperBowl and was evaluated, patched up and in school by lunchtime the next day. Fantastic! (And she only had to miss school one morning — not on two different days for eval and repair!) Thank you, Camp Smile!

Fantastic experience: I have a kiddo with sensory processing disorder and apraxia and they have been nothing but amazing with him every time! They explain everything clearly, they talk to him, they don’t force anything, and when needed, will sedate for the dental work to reduce the trauma. Coming here is worth the hour and 30 minute drive! Fantastic experience: Camp Smile was a great first experience for my 2 year old daughter. They truly took the time to talk to me about my concerns or my practices at home, and they took the time to walk her through everything to ensure there was no surprises. They explained what each tool was and showed her before using each one on her hand. They have fun little prizes, and my daughter asked for “more” when I asked her if she liked going to the dentist. Fantastic experience: Dr Laura Kotteman and her team are amazing. Our 2.5 year old is very used to brushing and flossing. We’ve been doing that since he was a tiny baby with teeth so it’s really no surprise when he likes the dentist. But I would argue that even without being used to it, the team at Camp Smile goes over and above. Taking the time to explain each thing, tool, sensation, and noise to the kids. Our child especially likes the waiting room portion of our visit to the Plymouth location. We are excited they plan to open a MG location that will be closer to us, too!

Fantastic experience: I was initially referred to Camp Smile by my dentist for my almost 2 year old. He had chipped a tooth and I wanted to get it looked at. They were able to get me in really quickly (same day!) which was great because of course I was concerned. This place is a kid’s dream when it comes to a doctor’s office. Not sure about the other locations, but the Plymouth location is decked out with a mini VW bus climbing area and everything is bright and fun. The staff and doctor were great. We ended up bringing both of our toddlers a month after the emergency visit to establish care. They are masters at getting your kids to cooperate and not hate the dentist! They gave my toddlers fun little toys, let them pick their toothpaste flavor, and got them warmed up to the scary parts of going to a dentist. They get a token at the end of their appointment that they can insert into a gum ball machine that is full of bouncy balls. Aside from all of the cool kids stuff, the hygienist and dentist were really nice and took the time to answer all our questions. I didn’t feel rushed or brushed off in any way. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We love Camp Smile! It has been a great place for our toddler to feel comfortable during his first dental visits and somewhere he looks forward to returning to! They explain everything to the kids at their level and make them comfortable. They are extremely patient and well trained to deal with kids and also very thorough.

Fantastic experience: We have been going to Camp Smile for over 13 years now and love it! The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is fun for kids, and each dentist is amazing. We don't even care which dentist we make appointments with because they are all so very good with our kids! We drive completely out of our way to go there and it's worth it!

Positive experience: They were obviously very experienced working with kids, and my kid loved it, but also they’ve clearly done this for a looooong time and weren’t really sensitive to a new patient/parent and her diagnosis. I would have liked some options, more choices, instead of what felt like being shuffled down the conveyor line. They would be great if you aren’t on a budget and don’t have a kid with any dental issues.
