Negative experience: Familia dental is a joke!!! Unfortunately some people this is the only place they can go due to insurance. An individual went in with tooth pain and was scheduled to have extractions and they were rescheduled 5 times and a year lapsed! They then said they needed to re-access only to reschedule an appointment again probably to have the same thing happen again! The individuals spouse is taking flak at work because they are missing work for dental appointments and may potentially get fired. Familia doesn’t care as long as they can get you in their building they are charging your insurance they are getting paid either way all the while you suffer. They are scamming the insurance companies and neglecting their patients!!! They should be ashamed of themselves!!! I hope this individual seeks legal counsel and can get the help they need from a reputable dental office that won’t jerk them around

Positive experience: I give a 3 for this appointment only because it was the fastest appointment I’ve EVER had at this location—though you’re going nowhere fast most of the time. It was loud in the office (patients and staff) but I didn’t mind it at all. Everyone was hilarious, nice and made sure I was less anxious during my visit.

Positive experience: I really like the young man in there , he’s fast but still makes sure ur comfortable.. they definetly need a bigger office though. There’s not anyone that takes my insurance that could ever be better than they are. The older lady comes off a little rude in my option. She has a serious mean mug that can kill. She was very short with us the one time I seen her. But overall I’ve had a lot worse before and the young man is so awesome he makes everything worth it

Fantastic experience: I am currently in the process of having all my teeth removed and getting dentures same day. It has not been easy on me and I really wasn’t a pleasant patient at first I will admit I was extremely nervous and I’m not proud of it but the staff helped me get threw it even though they had a lot going on yet went out of there way as far as helping me do breathing exercises and helped me calm down I suffer from bipolar social anxiety so for them to be this nice to me even when I wasn’t pleasant says everything to me when I had a bunch of teeth removed because they was so bad and one was severely infected I am so very appreciative of the care and patience I received here and how any questions I had they gladly took the time to explain it to me sometimes probably more then once cause the first visit I was on so much pain from my infected tooth I barely remember what we said . I’m so excited to get my teeth and to be able to actually chew my food and not be ashamed when I smile thank you to all the staff for your amazing work and compassion has treated me and put up with me through this journey . I’ll try and upload before and after once I receive my new teeth in a few weeks

Negative experience: This establishment is awful. My appointment was at 2:00 p.m. I did not get called back until 3:30 p.m. I have never been to an establishment that make a patient wait that long without given a patient updates. The front desk staff should have at least said something about the long wait. People that came in after my got called to the back before I did. I will never come back and I wouldn’t recommend this establishment to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I’m grateful to have a dentist as wonderful as Dr Rawaa, especially since I have Medicaid. She is always so nice, professional, and supportive in any care that I have needed. The dental assistants that have worked with me Ciara and Marcavius are very friendly and did a great job in cleaning and caring for my teeth. They also helped make me feel comfortable in addressing any concerns I had. I do wish that the facility could be updated and made to look nicer for the patients and especially for the staff. It should reflect the quality of care you get at the office regardless of where it is and whom it mostly serves. The receptionists are also very friendly and helpful when I’ve called to set appointments. 5 Star on Care Thank you all.

Negative experience: Horrible! The wait the time it takes for regular tooth clean and on to of all that yall cancel an appointment the day before and push it back 4/5 months later. The place need to be closed down! Had me bring my three kids in together one had an appointment at 11:30 12:00 and 4! They said bring them all in together we came in at 10:40 wasn’t seen to 12:40 and 4 kid was told she need to come back at that time. We come back at 4 they reschedule her and only do a brush!

Positive experience: the dentist was in and out with checking my teeth took him almost only two minutes looking at my teeth and checking my teeth. it was the fastest cleaning i ever have everytime i go for a teeth cleaning. sometimes your seating in the waiting room or back in the chair to be seen for awhile before being seen. dentist and staff need to make time for each patient and not b speedy and in and out so fast and hurry on to the next patient.

Fantastic experience: This morning I honestly was not feeling moving around at all. But because it’s school time me and my son had to make a visit to Familia Dental for his school dental physical. I will say normally I despise going to this place. But this morning I ran into a really sweet receptionist and an amazing dental assistant.. my son was so terrified being that it was his first appointment but our dental assistant Ms. Nae reassured my baby she would take great care of him and she did just that and more… she talked him through the process and was so gentle and patient. I have to be honest and say both her and the front desk receptionist gave me an entire different outlook on this place… I can’t wait for our next appointment and I hope I am lucky enough to get paired with Ms Nae again!

Fantastic experience: I walked in at the East. St. Louis, IL. location, with my disabled grown son. Friendly, professional front desk. Xray tech, Hygienist and the Dentist all had wonderful beside manner. My son is blind and partially deaf. They were patient with him, as he adjusted to the new surroundings. Overall, a very pleasant and professional experience!!!

Negative experience: Terrible service. No communication. Left alone for looong periods of time with no explanation. Little regard for hygiene. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!! Appointment was at 10 am. Called back at 10:08. Signed consent, left alone at 10:11. Have been waiting for 40 minutes now. When I made a comment to someone about how we've been waiting I was told "we're really busy." Ever since then people have been poking their head into the room and looking at me, and snickering. Pretty confident the tiny level of service is going to go down now since I spoke up. How ridiculous. Don't offer an appointment for 10 am if the patient won't be seen for over an hour and will be sitting in the room alone staring at a TV with zero communication from anyone about anything. I don't have all day to wait around because your establishment doesn't understand how to schedule correctly.

Negative experience: If I could leave a zero start I would! I have been here multiple times to just be sent away. This time the doctor was down right rude to me telling me it’s my fault because I can’t take off work for this and that I need to open my availability if I want his help, like excuse me sir are you going to help cover my bills for the days I have to take off work! And then they say oh we can get you in today so I drive all the way here to be sent home AGAIN! I’m tired of living in pain and I just want help! I do not recommend this place at all! Not to mention I don’t think they know how to clean anything here!

Negative experience: My appointment was scheduled for 3:30 and I waited in the waiting until 10 minutes before closing and was never seen. I left knowing that the facility closes at 5. The place is also filthy. Just to think that someone is going to be working on your exposed mouth. Not a good first impression.

Positive experience: We had a very nice first time experience. The receptionists were very nice and the dental assistants were very nice and knowledgeable. Dr . Mahamad was very nice and professional and took good care of my brother with his tooth extractions. When we got home we called the office and they returned our call and answered all our questions. Negative experience: The website says sedation dentistry but that isn't true. To have 23 pulled I would love to be put to sleep but there are no oral surgeons in this area that take Medicaid.

Negative experience: I like the dentist and staff I just wish the floors were clean and the rooms are clean after each patient! I went to wash my hands and it was dirty in the sink like someone had rinsed mouth out and they didn’t clean the room and it appeared to be the day before because it was old and dry!

Negative experience: Everyone was very friendly. The dentist did not make my granddaughters first trip to the dentist exciting. He acted as if he didn’t really have time for her. He was looking at another patients X-rays while we were in the room. He was very unprofessional. After taking her tooth out he threw it away without even asking if I wanted to keep it. He didn’t offer a toothbrush or toothpaste. The waiting room carpet and chairs were stained and dirty looking. I know most of the patients have Medicaid but they deserve a clean environment. My granddaughter has an appointment in December and Iam considering looking into going somewhere else even if that’s means driving farther out of the City of East St Louis. It is so sad how businesses in the city are so different in comparison to Fairview Heights or Ofallon. I am a Medical Assistant and I really thought about walking out but my granddaughter was so excited to be at the Dentist. Please Consider making things better.

Negative experience: FILTHY! FILTHY! FILTHY! Dr. Rogier is fantastic. However, this is the filthiest facility I have ever encountered and not even his fantastic knowledge and skill could ever get me to have myself or a family member receive care here. This is an infection waiting to happen. Even equipment used above a patient was dirty and could easily drop dust and contamination into a patient's mouth.

Fantastic experience: Starting my denture journey....first off I was so excited when I learned that Familia Dental even offered dentures,I never thought it would be possible. 2 days ago I went in for full mouth extraction. Negative experience: Staff is friendly, but they have serious issues with being on time. I was not taken in till 20 minutes after my appointment time. Then after the tech did the general cleaning, it was over 45 minutes before the dentist came in and did his part. The staff also needs to learn how to tell people to turn their phone volumes down and show consideration to other patients. Some of the other patients need to learn this lesson, and teach it to their children.

Fantastic experience: The dentist and staff are patient and friendly. However, my wait to see the dentist was too long, over an hour. Also, the appearance of the office reflected a need for cleaning. Appearance exemplifies professionalism that should always be obvious to all who walks into an office. Anyone needed to have dentures replaced, must have Dr. Rogier of Familia Dental to create the dentures. After six months, I received my dentures. They were a perfect fit. The level of comfort is indescribeable, no gum pain. The dentures also looked great and I received many compliments. Again, need replacement dentures, Dr. Rogier is your man.

Fantastic experience: I went in there I was a few minutes late they had no problem with that they were very compliable with that and then at this one tooth that was just giving me havoc for I don't know how long now like I seriously was about to jump off the roof head first and these dudes took it out all of the numbing the shot and the tooth coming out took like 30 seconds because they're awesome I can't honestly recall that doctor's name but that doctor and the young man that took my x-ray I love them I pray I get them again when I go back I give it a five

Negative experience: Initially the appointment was scheduled for Monday June 9th, I attempted to check my daughter in for her cleaning. I was asked if I had an appointment and I stated yes my daughter does I was told to sign the clip board and have a seat. I waited about 15 minutes and asked was that all I had to do to check in. The receptionist said “your a walk in.” I said no you asked if I had an appointment and I stated yes. You said sign in and continued talking. She then started to check me in and stated the provider was not in office and I would have to reschedule my daughter. They didn’t even call. The place is not professional. They don’t do bad work overall but they are very ghetto.

Fantastic experience: They took their time with me. I need a really good deep cleaning and they did exactly what I needed. Can wait to go back to see how my teeth look. Negative experience: Love my dentist but the scheduling is a disaster here. I've went to my scheduled appointments to be seen hours later. Don't have time to sit at the office all day. I called just to see if my appointment was at the correct time today. Stayed on the phone for a half an hour and nada. Nobody picks up the phone! Drive all the way there just to be told it was cancelled because Dr. is out of town. Its all of my fault and my problem because I didn't check my voicemail. If you're going to send me a voicemail tell me my appointment has been cancelled and to reschedule. Again, call nobody picks up the phone! I told them wasn't getting their text messages. Told to check my spam/ junk folder twice. Nada! I tried to give them my e-mail address, wouldn't accept it. What is the point of having an e-mail address on your appointment cards when you don't respond to those messages either. Rant over!

Positive experience: I have a few appointments in this clinic and I was taken care of by Dr. Rawaa. Overall the clinic is fast and efficient and very friendly. Dr. Rawaa always asks if I have any comments or concerns and always makes sure I am informed about the condition of my teeth and what is the best treatment plan. Very satisfied overall!

Negative experience: Very unprofessional. The dentist was rude and didn't even tell my husband a plan about his teeth. He didn't listen or answer any of our questions after we waited in the waiting room an hour after our appointment time. They took more time talking to each other about their personal lives rather than my husband's mouth. Just ghetto as hell. My husband is still in pain and the dentist still probably doesn't know that. He was too busy flirting with the techs to know. Just sad.

Negative experience: Everytime I go there they have some excuse why they can’t do what I need done today and I have to come back. Now I have been without teeth for almost 34 mths and do t go back for a mold til 6-31. NOT HAPPY!!!!

Negative experience: I and another gentleman were stuck in the waiting room for two hours after our appointment time. We watched as the waiting room filled up and emptied twice. And as a women who was nodding out so bad she missed her name being called THREE different times and when she said something they made a point to bring her back. Once I was finally brought back I asked to avoid the X-ray if possible (I had a tooth break but am 35 weeks pregnant) the tech went back to the doctor and came to me saying I can do the X-ray or reschedule. If this dentist would have taking the time like all of my time he had wasted in the waiting room, he would have seen the tooth has a metal filling and though it may not be properly fixed without an X-ray it could have some more filler added to prevent food from getting between the original filling and tooth and causing even more damage until after my child is born. Not to mention just how generally rude most of the staff was and how dirty and unwelcoming the entire office felt. The giant hole in the dentist chair was also quite off putting. Highly recommend going elsewhere. And run if you hear your seeing doctor Roger.

Negative experience: 1 star simply for the fact all the employees were very kind and easy to work with. However.. horrible experience otherwise. Cleanliness of the facility was below average. The “cleaning” was getting your teeth brushed for less than 1 minute. I clean my teeth more thoroughly at home. No floss, no plaque removal, no fluoride treatment. So defeats the purpose of going to the dentist. Then a very minimal exam from a dentist. They also say they see kids, however, despite having an appointment for my toddler, the dentist made no attempt to even check her teeth. Unfortunately this is the only option in the area for people with Medicaid. Increased training and resources to this facility is definitely needed in order to actually provide quality dental care.

Fantastic experience: The first thing I look for is cleanliness, and a certain level of organization. And I must say, I'm excited about being a new patient with Familia Dental. The staff is very passionate about the care,and well being of their patients. Not to mention, the professionalism, and the care you receive after treatment.

Positive experience: It takes a good amount of time to get an appointment to get a cavity filled, but the dentist is really nice and none judgemental. Update: the reception staff was not great. The security officer was ignoring people eating and drinking in the lobby, but went out of her way to tell me no phone calls while in the lobby, but my phone was in my pocket and I was using earbuds. So It was if there was just a person I was talking to at the time. No need for this person to say anything to me because I wasn't violating someone's privacy.

Negative experience: Reception was very rude and sounded like they didn’t know what they were doing. Told them it was an emergency, and they didn’t seem to care. Or want to look for anything that could possibly be closer because “it takes time to look ma’am”. I’ve never had this kind of experience with reception before. She confused me with how she questioned everything I said. And after that she wanted to hang up instead of making an appointment for me and said she would “call back” and I had a feeling she wouldn’t.. overall I had heard great things from from the other staff and workers. Very upsetting that this was my experience.

Negative experience: Went in for a first time exam and x-ray. Was scheduled for 10am. Before sitting down, I asked how long it would be, she said "there's one person ahead of you". I sat and waited over an hour, as around 15 people or more went ahead of me. At approximately 11:20am, I was brought to the back to just get a scan of my mouth and was put back in the waiting room due to "no rooms available". The waiting room was completely over flown. After waiting 20 mins, I was brought back to the back, where I reclined in their seat and kindly waited. It took about 30-45mins for the doctor to be ready for me and foe his assistant to get the x-ray prepped. He did a real "quick cleaning", in which wasn't even a correct "full cleaning". I'm guessing he was in a hurry, as the lobby was way too full. The scheduling person is either scheduling too many people at once in a day or their appointments are way too close together. Other people in the waiting room were also complaining about waiting over an hour from their original appointment time, before being brought back as well.

Negative experience: The initial check in was over an hr. I signed in and they skipped over my name. Until I went and asked them if they needed any additional information like everyone else. Then they walked me back and said someone was waiting, which took another 15mins. My total experience was definitely not enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: Top notch service from check in to check out everyone was amazing..front desk clerks.. X-ray techs and of course the dentist. Me n my husband were truly amazed at how professional courteous respectful and knowledgeable everyone was. I truly wish I had gotten everyone's name but I'll get it at my next appointment..

Negative experience: This is the worst dental provider I have ever been to or taken someone elae to. The front desk staff are rude and very unwelcoming and the dentist was worse. He told us that 90% of their patients have Medicaid and "you know how people with Medicaid are." And the person I was with has Medicaid! So he was badmouthing Medicaid patients most of the visit. We also had to wait for hours just to have an exam and cleaning. They also reschedule appointments all the time including the day of and 15 minutes beforehand. We also showed up on a Saturday for an appointment and were told they had called us to reschedule that appointment earlier in the week, but no one called. I could go on and on but I'll stop. THE PROBLEM IS THEY ARE THE ONLY DENTAL PROVIDER THAT TAKES MEDICAID WITHIN 60 MILES SO THEY KNOW THEY CAN TREAT YOU TERRIBLY AND GET AWAY WITH IT. It's so infuriating.

Positive experience: The doctor and the assistants that worked with my son directly were awesome. Butttt... there was a man (staff) cursing another staff and going on about how what he was going "to do" to the other person. I also heard another doctor that was working talking in demeaning manner and I had to wonder if this was why the other guy was so worked up. I might have wanted to square up too.

Negative experience: My husband tried to get treatment here. He is learning English. Because of their name and the community they serve, I assumed someone there would be able to speak Spanish. That was a mistake, my mistake. However, as someone who works in healthcare, there is a protocol for treating a patient who doesn't speak English. That protocol was not followed. My husband was treated with impatience and contempt by every person he interacted with. Nothing about his condition or treatment was explained to him. Nobody bothered to get informed consent. Turns out, he had gum disease that was about as advanced as it could possibly be, but we didn't know that because La Familia just took his money and didn't bother with informing him about the condition or treatment options. This isn't how things are supposed to work with medical treatment of any kind. Furthermore, because we paid handsomely for the X-rays I wanted to take them for our records. When I made an appointment somewhere else, I mentioned that he had very recent X-rays from La Familia that we would really prefer to not pay for twice. She replied that she was sorry but the X-rays from La Familia are not viable because either they don't do a good job on them or their equipment is bad. So we're out the cost of the X-rays. Basically, I'd never recommend anyone go there, no matter what language you speak.

Fantastic experience: Famila Dental is a good place to go when you need to. The workers, techs and doctors are professional and although it may take a long time to be seen, they do take walk-in’s. The earlier you arrive the better!

Negative experience: Multiple people have created accounts and set up appointments with this place using my phone number. Every time it happens, I call and they tell me they have removed my phone number from the accounts and put a note stating to not allow it again. But here I am, with even more appointment messages AGAIN!!

Negative experience: My appointment was at 11am. Sat in the waiting room until 1250pm. When I got called back all the employees were talking to each other about lunch instead of working. I was scheduled for a deep cleaning and they only did the bottom and rescheduled me again for the top in a month. Terrible services.

Positive experience: The assistants and doctors were kind and helpful. I came in without an appointment and the doctor saw me and pulled my tooth almost right away. I was in so much pain but can now rest easy tonight. I’m very grateful.
