Fantastic experience: Our daughter just had her very first dental appointment here, and we couldn't be happier! The staff was super friendly and most of all patient with her. We had such a great experience and will be back again in 6 months!

Positive experience: I have been coming to this office since I was a child. I am now 35. I have never had a bad experience up until this last visit I had. The check in process was uncomfortable and unprofessional. I had to repeat my name at least 3 times to the receptionist. Also, someone from the office ordered Jimmy Johns and it was just sitting on the counter not being tended to and I said something and no one realized it was there. I also watched a patient try to go back with a wheel chair to be with her elderly mother because the hygienist Mae told her to and the ladies at the front desk made it a big deal and would not let her back. There needs to be better communication and a more professional approach at the front desk. I almost walked out. Luckily Mae and the Dr I had are fantastic and made up for it.

Fantastic experience: Very nice staff. Professional dentist. No pain. Always go to Valparaiso Family Dentistry. I really like they have everything there, oral surgeon, tooth implants and general dentistry. It Makes the experience less stressful. Other places send you here & there for specialized work but VFD has it all there.

Negative experience: I have came to the office with my children for several years. Dr. Adams is amazing. Not sure why things are not being managed better in the office. I made three cleaning appointments for April 9th. All three were cancelled and had to be rescheduled. I was told the hygienist quit. Rescheduled for August 5, just received text that they need rescheduled again. Called office and I was told dentist will be on vacation. Want to reschedule for October 28. Five months waiting. I think it's time to look for another dentist office. Somebody should be covering for all the appointments they made.

Negative experience: Absolute trash factory! Do not go to this dentist office. They do not understand how to use insurance they do not care about your well-being. Anything you say to them is taking personally and responded with snide remarks and sarcasm. They told me I had to call my insurance company to see if the procedures that I needed were covered. This was Brandon telling me this. Then they told me that all they could do was pull my teeth. And they did not want to do the work that needed to be done on my teeth. I went to a place called Signature Dental Spa in Chesterton and they not only fixed all of my teeth without expensive root canals and unnecessary procedures but they also used my insurance! You people are a scam and unprofessional! Do not go to Valparaiso family dentistry.

Fantastic experience: Every dentist I have seen there is excellent. My hygienist I had today was very reassuring and kind when she knew I had a little bit of anxiety about getting a Novacaine shot. It’s always easy to get an appointment. I highly recommend.

Negative experience: This place is not heart friendly. I have been in and out of er with teeth problems. I get an emergency appointment and they say it needs to be pulled and I’m ok with that. I also want a sedation. So they send me to there oral surgeon and wait 3 days for an appointment for them to tell me they can’t do it cause of my heart conditions.

Fantastic experience: The office staff were friendly and helpful. The tech was helpful and efficient. The dentist was fantastic, helping me make a difficult decision. Then guiding me thru a treatment plan that dealt with my health issues.

Fantastic experience: Great customer care. Doctor Yusuf explained everything in detail which helped me understand and be ready for my procedure. The front desk lady( forgot her name) was also very patient kind keeping the busy waiting room calm.

Negative experience: Not a good experience as a new patient. As new patients we had our appointments all set up. When my daughter showed up they said they had notified her of a cancellation but she wasn’t actually notified. Then when she went back for her rescheduled appointment she waited an hour and a half before ever being seen. Two hours total by the time she was all done. Today I went for my appointment. Was told they called me earlier today to cancel. I actually never received a call from them as we have cell phones now and I looked through all my calls. They even read me back my number to be sure it was right. No one called me. Super annoying. They also texted me previously the forms to fill out, but sent Childrens forms. When I called them to ask for new forms I was put on hold for 15 minutes so I ended the call. Will be looking for a new dentist. Terrible first time experience with them. :(

Fantastic experience: Leslie did a great job. The best cleaning I ever had done. Dr. Adam’s did a great job too.

Negative experience: Absolutely awful experience hearing my boyfriend scream in pain from the waiting room. This place has absolutely no professionalism whatsoever. From the receptionist eating lunch at the front desk to employees bickering about lunch breaks in the waiting room in front of people anxiously waiting for surgery to no one knowing how to apply proper anesthetic for a 6’2 man so he wouldn’t wake up HALF WAY through surgery. They did not listen to a single word he said and forced him to be in pain while they finished. What a disgusting practice this is. Would never recommend this place to anyone ever.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to VFD for over 20 years and today was the absolute best cleaning appt I've ever had. The hygienist (sorry I don't remember her name) had the greatest personality and made me feel so comfortable. I've been having issues with my teeth as I get older and she made me feel so much better about my smile. It was nice to go to the dentist and joke around instead of feeling insecure. So thank you very much for a great visit!

The Dentist I had was so nice and patient with me and Alyssa was just a joy to be around and really made me feel listened to. I am looking forward to my appointment in August.

Negative experience: Terrible customer service, you never see the same providers and the hygienist presented a tx plan of adding sealants to our child at zero cost so we agreed and ended up with a bill over $300. I would never recommend this company.

They did a x-ray and brought calmness to a panicked little girl and her mom... If any further teeth related problems occur this dental office will be our first stop... Fantastic experience: Being a new patient, it took a bit of time to get checked in and my insurance verified. However the wait was worth every minute! Dr. Adams was very helpful in what steps to take and considered the financial applications of our decisions. They all took time with me helping me to understand what was needed and why.

Fantastic experience: The staff here are awesome. No other way to put it and I absolutely hate going to the dentist. They are a great team all around. They made me feel so comfortable and welcome. Dr. Adam's and Leslie McCall are my people. Can't say enough about them two. Most clients I encounter here are happy and satisfied with the work this team provides. Kids and older adults alike. The only small problem I have witnessed was the front doors for wheelchairs. I will be more than happy to help pay for new doors. Keep up the great work.

Fantastic experience: Just had 3 wisdom teeth extracted with local anesthesia and honestly, it went better than I expected. I was super nervous going in since I originally wanted to be knocked out for the procedure, but everything turned out fine. I did feel a bit of pain during the drilling part, but Dr Yousef was great along with Assistant Q. They told me to raise my hand if anything hurt. He immediately gave me more anesthesia, and after that, I didn’t feel a thing. The whole procedure took about 45 minutes. Once the anesthesia wore off, there was definitely some pain, but the prescribed ibuprofen helped a lot and kicked in pretty quickly. I’m currently on day 2 and the pain is almost completely gone, just some minor discomfort here and there. I’ve been sticking to soft foods, brushing gently, flossing carefully, and rinsing with salt water, especially since I’m really trying to avoid dry socket. If you’re in the same boat, staying clean and being careful after eating definitely helps! Can’t wait for the week to be up so I can slowly go back to eating regular meals

Negative experience: Trust lost,taken advantage of, tooth tampered with that did not need to be addressed. Failure to acknowledge what their staff did and to repair the damage done, now experiencing extreme tooth temperature sensitivity and pains. I thought I could trust them and they abused that trust. Upon my second visit I was told to use sensitivity toothpaste, and the damage done was never acknowledged! I made them aware, and was told it was probably a hairline fracture that could not be seen, nothing from them!!!

Fantastic experience: 10/10 would recommend, I came in with a partial extraction from my dentist who could not succeed and I was nervous, Doctor Aldelayme was AMAZING. He helped keep me calm and his assistant Q was just a total sweetheart. They’re very patient but quick to getting stuff done! I was surprised at when he told me we were finished! If you’re looking for someone to take care of your dental needs in a timely but friendly matter this is the place to go!

Fantastic experience: When I got to dentist office, the people behind the counter were very nice. I was then taken to the dental room the assistant was very nice and very efficient. The dentist took about 20 minutes or so when he came in he was just so kind and very concerned and I think he said if he could snap his fingers he would make me have teeth again something like that. The dentist was very efficient and friendly then they took me up front to make my next appointment and I will see them again on the 13th.

Fantastic experience: Had a great appointment with Leslie and Dr Adam’s. Leslie took the time to show me pictures and explain the process along with recommending a treatment plan and scheduling my next appointment. Dr Adam’s reaffirmed my treatment plan and was very thoughtful.

Fantastic experience: They have been so understanding and so nonjudgmental and it makes the whole situation so much easier for someone who has very bad social anxiety and just a lot of anxiety in general! Dr. Adams is the nicest dentist I’ve ever met! Just a genuine person who truly wants to help.

Fantastic experience: Since Dr Behrend departure, I have questioned the quality of care. It is routine to be there for two hours if I have a dental repair because the Doctor is juggling too many patients, so they spend 5 minutes and then leave to work on someone else for five minutes. The staff is great! Mae is the best Dental Hygienist. She takes time to make sure the cleaning is done well. You have phenomenal people, give them the time to do their job well.

Negative experience: Scheduling department sucks balls, cancelled my appointment the day of, tried setting up another one at a different time, same day, but that wouldn’t work with me for that day, lady said she would call me back with a new date… that was a month and a half ago. Now i go to moody in demotte way more professional

Fantastic experience: Great experience from beginning to end. Very friendly staff at the front desk. The asst. Alex was so good with our 6 year old granddaughter, she explained everything and was super patient. Our hygienist, Leslie, was also great and Dr Adam's made Payton very comfortable.

Fantastic experience: I hate my teeth, they are my biggest insecurity, and I hate going to the dentist because of the judgment I feel. A broken tooth I've been dealing with finally had enough and caused a huge abcess on the roof of my mouth and severe pain and I had to go in. Dr. Yousef took care of the abcess and extracted the tooth quickly and without making me feel judged in any way. I am planning on calling to make an appointment with the regular office to talk about future plans to fix my teeth. Yesterday at this time I was in constant misery and now I feel almost fine, thank you!

Fantastic experience: Did not wait in waiting room long, friendly, caring, compassionate service. Very thorough checkup and cleaning.

Negative experience: This place has no canceled on me twice in a row. Last week they had a scheduling conflict, and canceled my appointment, and I rescheduled for today, and now just got a text saying they canceled again. And my last cleaning tje same thing happened. I am done with this office. Don't waste your time scheduling an appointment here. They have to many patients to deal with Find a smaller practice that won't cancel on you every time you make an appointment.

They also were very understanding about how I needed to know prices on everything and provided me with estimates as I left. Will definitely be going back!

Positive experience: I'm basing this review on my appointment today with the hygienist and doctor. I would've given 5 stars if the atmosphere was nicer and had more modern amenities. The extensive paperwork they have you complete is ridiculously long. It took me almost 30 minutes to complete it for my daughter and myself. The font was so small- I'm sure so they could fit it all on one page- front and back. We were very happy with the professionals we interacted with today.

Fantastic experience: Got my wisdom teeth removed from here today. They made me feel very comfortable for my very first surgery ever. The nurse I had today was super nice and she even gave me a first bump at the end of my surgery. The doctor/dentsit was also nice and he explained everything so I can feel comfortable and ready. Negative experience: My husband received poor care and horrible treatment. He needed a bridge. The bridge he received did not fit. Multiple telephone messages left for the office manager, never received a call back. Emails to the office manager were never responded. Furthermore, a tooth filling was put in and it fell out 3 times. Poor quality services and poor follow up. Wanted to give Zero stars but it won't let me.

Fantastic experience: I was in a lot of pain over the weekend and with mothers day weekend I had trouble finding a place that was open. First thing Monday morning, I started calling around to get a tooth pulled. Valparaiso Family Dentistry got me in right away. The procedure was quick and completely painless. Everyone there was kind and made me feel very comfortable. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: I am not sure what has happened in the last two years but family dentistry has gone down hill. They repeatedly have canceled appointments for me and my kids a week or two before the appointment. Then tell me they have nothing open for three months. Their billing department is an issue every time now; like a bate and switch they say everything is paid; then they send you a bill say ing it changed because the dentist they pick for you. Sad because the staff is very friendly but operation and management is not the same anymore.

Fantastic experience: I went to this practice for a tooth extraction because they were in my insurance network. I was able to get an appointment quickly, and was sent several reminders prior to my scheduled date. The office staff were friendly and efficient. The dr explained everything to me, then had the assistant prepare a financial estimate. He then asked if there were any concerns. He told me what was happening as he worked and asked several times if I was OK. When finished, he explained again what he had done, and if I had any questions. I was given oral and written instructions for post care. I received a phone call the next day to check on me. No one likes going to the dentist, but I was pleased with the care I received from this dentist and his staff.

Fantastic experience: I don't think I got the deep scraping cleaning of tartar. That I normally get the assistant just scraped a little bit on my front lowers. And just a little bit on my uppers and nothing on the sides and back. I was disappointed. The doctor involved that looked at my Composite was fine wonderfull. A very nice man but I don't think I got a very good cleaning.

Fantastic experience: I like this dental office. They offer quick appts, even same day if someone happened to cancel or a slot was never scheduled. The doctors and assistants are kind and funny. They also don’t make you feel bad if you have a cavity or something else wrong with your teeth. We’re all human and sometimes we may not take care of our teeth the way we should or sometimes we do our best and still things happen. There’s no judgement and I appreciate that. The only thing I would recommend is for SOME of the front staff (not all) work on how they project themselves to us clients. Some of them come off dry or irritated at times. It’s understandable to have a bad day or a busy day at work that kind of takes a toll on you but as a receptionist/customer service representative, you have to be kind and put a smile on because the clients coming in have nothing to do with your personal feelings or battles and actually know nothing about them. So, it’s unfair to ever be dry or short with a client. Also, it never hurts to let someone know you’re having a day! I often talk to representatives for many reasons and sometimes they will tell me, “oh my goodness, it’s been a day!” And that lets you know, they’re human and having a day! But they’re still kind and that’s what matters.

Fantastic experience: Best dentist I've been to in my 39 years of life sofar. Staff is amazing and explained things extremely well. Glad I chose these guys. Highly recommend that's for sure.

Fantastic experience: Dr Yousef and his DA did amazing during my wisdom tooth surgery i was freaking out the days coming up to it but once i got in and he stared to extract the teeth he made sure that i was ok through the whole thing it only took him like 30 min (or less tbh) to num and remove the teeth. it been a couple days after and i don't feel anything. (was a little sore and had some swelling but that went away after day 1). Highly recommend Dr Yousef and his DA Q if you nervous to get wisdom tooth surgery.

Fantastic experience: I want to start off by saying I NEVER write reviews on any businesses, but I felt I needed to share my experience. If you're here for wisdom teeth reviews (like I myself was just 2 months ago) I strongly encourage you to keep reading. Dr. Yousef removed my bottom 2 wisdom teeth & I cannot recommend him enough. He was very thorough in explaining all possibilities of the procedure during my consultation, and very kind & patient while answering all of my questions. (I was an anxious mess about the whole procedure.) The day of the procedure he again reassured & answered all of my questions I had, minutes before being put to sleep. All while being as kind and calm as possible. I had no problems after the procedure & was back to eating on my molars within a week! I seriously can't say enough good things about him. It took me a year to finally go through with getting the procedure done, and I'm forever grateful I had such a good experience here!

Negative experience: I have no review of the actual dentist themselves. However, I can tell you their technology and their system they use is absolute rubbish. I made an emergency appointment online because I broke a tooth. It sends me an email confirmation and a text confirmation that my appointment is happening. I show up at the appropriate time and I am told there is no appointment and they cannot fit me in. Super! Just now I got a text message asking me to rate how my experience was at Valparaiso family dentistry... I kid you not. So I can't say anything about the dentist but I will say don't use their technology online.

Fantastic experience: Dr.Jones and staff were great, I went in for a consultation,but he was able to do some of the work that day pulling one tooth,and I will say it was painless and fast.. numbing the area was precise and the effects of novacaine did not linger, compared to my other experience elsewhere,no problem getting Rx to pharmacy for pickup

Negative experience: The dentist office has cancelled twice because the hygienist is always calling off. The front desk staff is extremely incompetent and questioned me why I needed two cleanings a year. The front desk staff called me rude. I am traveling from another county just to have this appointment. Their office is treating me differently because I have Medicaid and I am not being treated the same way as other patients. I called yesterday to confirm my appointment and I received a text today at 6:59am for me to reschedule. Then told me I can go somewhere else if I wanted to. The front desk staff would not let me talk and kept interrupting me. Medicaid patients are not treated the same way as patients that have regular insurance.

Fantastic experience: Jessica the receptionist is awesome and dr Douts is gentle and respectful with fearful patients.

Negative experience: Had the staff for the wisdom teeth tell me I would get 0 percent interest for 2 years if we got my daughters wisdom teeth out which I had the care credit card and they couldn’t submit it properly twice been calling to take care of them submitting correctly while I’m getting charged 30% interest on an already $1000 cost. They lied and can’t do their job to submit things correctly. I will give 0 stars.

Fantastic experience: I strongly dislike the dentist. However, if you feel the same, VFD will put you at ease from beginning to end. The facilities are beautiful and inviting. Front end staff is friendly and welcoming. Meadow is a true light in the office. Her vibe is incredible and rarely seen in medical professional settings. Dr. Adams is beyond words. Extremely knowledgeable, detailed, and amazingly funny. He was quick and to the point, leaving me with clear next steps, short and long term. This may be the end of my feelings toward the dentist since I know I found my dentist office for life! Dr. Adams and Meadow, you can't go anywhere anytime soon. To the owner/manager, continue to recognize these wonderful professionals (days off, raises, spotlights, gift cards, etc). For the first time, I'm looking forward to going back. God blessed VFD up and down, through and through always.
