Positive experience: Been a patient here for the last 5yrs. My teeth cleaning today wasn't so great. The young lady cleaning my teeth seemed to be in a big hurry and whole process was done in 15 minutes. She kept hitting my teeth with the metal part of the cleaning tool and she missed cleaning a few teeth and only flossed a few teeth as well. Saw Dr Barney and he was great but staff not so great. They booked another appt for me 6 months out but never gave me an appt card so I have no idea the date? Hopefully they can SLOW down next time.

Positive experience: Got right in for my teeth cleaning but process seemed a little rushed. Was done in less than 20min and the actual teeth cleaning and floss seemed sloppy. Also got a new appt. but was never given a written appointment card with date or time. Great staff but maybe overworked. Dentist also seemed rushed. Took less than a minute to check my teeth after cleaning. Maybe they have new 30 min start to finish goal.

Negative experience: Worst experience! Doctor spent less than 5 minutes with me. In that time he concluded I would need an implant which would be a year long process. And $9000! Praise God I got a second opinion! This doctor put a rod in. Started at 8 am. Was out & good to go at 10:30 am. And $2800. Big difference! Feeling I got at Sonoma Dental was a "herd them in, herd them out" feeling. Not good!

Positive experience: First I’ll let you know that you should never book additional appointments after you have a dental appointment scheduled. My prior experience has been excellent at Sonoma Family Dental. So when I booked this appointment for a possible filling and night guard lab consultation, teeth impressions, and a fitting appointment. I expected to be there for a little over an hour. The filing consultation with the dentist went by rather fast. Dr Patel is a wonderful dentist. The time suck came when they did the teeth impressions. It’s done with a huge plastic camera device that’s shoved in your mouth for minutes at a time as it creates a computer design. The person doing the impressions was nice and completed the procedure in less than 20 mins. After she completed the impressions she walked me back out in the lobby until they would call me to pay for the guard. Usually the checkout process & they see me pretty quickly and I was surprised to have to wait. Then after 5 mins waiting; the technician who did the teeth impressions asked me to come back. I was thinking that I was going to pay but it turns out she informs me that the computer system did not save the teeth impressions and she would have to complete process over. This horrible process had to be completed again not something I had time for or wanted to endure again. Now I suppose if I hadn’t scheduled another appointment so close to this dental appointment it wouldn’t have bothered me but I was so annoyed. The next time another dental tech completed the redo. I don’t know if it’s because the first tech messed up or if she had another appointment. Needles to say the procedure was completed in a quicker time and it wasn’t as painful. After we were done I once again had to wait to pay for the guard which annoyed me because I was late to my next appointment. I waited for about another 5 mins and paid. Once again I should have not booked another errand so close to my dental appointment. Totally my bad. I highly recommend Sonoma Family Dental just ask questions before your procedures.

Positive experience: Dr. L did a great job on my emergency crown but staff is difficult to deal with. They have owed me money (I overpaid due to their error) since March 15 and can't seem to get it refunded. Each time I call it's "I'll speak to my manager and get back with you." Never hear anything. I have given them my correct mailing address 3 times now (Las Cruces is my winter home) and they STILL don't have it correct. Waiting again and they will not let me speak to a dentist either.

Always awesome cuz they take care of the nervous nellies of the world with perfect amount of nitrous and pampering. Update: Gotta keep updating....I am way beyond nervous Nellie, I'm neurotic Nellie when it comes to dentists and dealing with what-all i have to deal with dentistry-wise right now and Anna has been making me feel comfortable enough to keep coming back. This girl is a diamond Update! As always....a great visit. Consult for pre-meds for a nervous Nelly (freaked out Franny, actually) when wonderfully ☺️ Wonderful as always....no nitrous cuz of the nature of the procedure, so that was terrible but that's me.

Negative experience: My first visit I was told by a dentist my teeth look fine, gums look good after cleaning. I questioned are you sure I have not had a cleaning in a long time. She said all looks fine, no quadrant cleaning needed except for one area, one tooth needs a root canal. Received the referral and opted to have the tooth pulled. I made a 2nd appointment, saw another dentist in this office who took x rays and showed me cracked teeth that need crown's. I was confused due to the first dentist who said all was fine. No mention of cracked teeth after she looked at my x rays. I was in to pull my wisdom tooth instead of an expensive root canal. This is my 2nd wisdom tooth to be pulled . The first one was no problem. This time was horrible. The dentist said a piece of my jaw bone came out with it! I was and am horrified. I am going to have to go back due to what feels like stitches that were to desolve pricking out the roof of my mouth. I will have to look for a specialist now. My gum is not healing well, very soft due to bone loss, a large chunk of gum is flapping . I was prescribed antibiotics last time I had this procedure preformed. Not this time. All I can say is I am horrified. I have always taken exceptional care of my teeth and gums.and to go through this experience is traumatizing and seems like I need a specialist now. I never had such an experience before.

Fantastic experience: Sonoma Family Dental is super professional, from the front staff to the dental hygienists to the dentists. They are kind, upfront and honest with pricing, and just all around great and good people. Anna is an absolute gem as a person and as a dental hygienist. Dr. Barney is great as well. I trust them a great deal, I never feel pressured to get any work done unnecessarily—-procedures are always explained and they answer all my questions so throughly. I can’t recommend this office enough.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Barney is a great dentist. He made sure to greet me and ask how I was doing since our last appointment meeting. He and his assistant made sure I understood the procedure I was about to undergo and answered any questions I had. He worked effectively and efficiently. After completing the work he again answered any questions I had and wished me the best until our next meeting. The entire administrative and support team are friendly, efficient, informative and professional. I highly recommend this dental provider and practice.

Fantastic experience: I drove my friend here for an appointment. She had to have a molar pulled. Ouch! Her whole appointment took less than 30 minutes, and they charged her LESS than what they quoted her on the phone. She said the dentist was very nice, and he gave her advice on how to care for a different tooth that had been bothering her. My friend had been here before for an emergency appointment and trusted the team enough to come back when a different tooth gave her problems.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Barney and his team are incredible. I really feel like they care about my experience. Even if I am there for something not needing Dr. Barney (e.g., x-rays), he always pops his head in and says hello. I have heard him do this with other patients as well. The office staff are always very nice, and the billing department has been very patient in dealing with my insurance. They are also very punctual. I think the longest I've ever had to wait in the waiting room was five minutes and I think that was only once and I've been going there for a little over two years. Thank you all for all you've done for me.

Fantastic experience: Awesome Experience! I called around to different dentist offices because I had an upper molar that was really hurting and I thought I needed a root canal. Sonoma Family Dental gave me a next day appointment in which I was seen by Dr. Liljenquist and his staff. Turns out I didn't need a root canal only a crown adjustment and within about thirty minutes everything was said and done. I am going to keep Sonoma Family Dental as my primary dentist and I highly recommend their services!

Negative experience: The hygienist who cleaned my teeth today continued to accidentally hit and scrape my gums with their tools. I am not talking about the edge of my gum where the tooth and gum meet. They would accidentally hit my gums in the center. They were a very kind person and I don’t think it was intentional, but I do find it careless. They were moving quite quickly. At one point I heard them speaking with some one else and I looked up and they weren’t even looking at what they were doing, they were looking at the person they were speaking with while cleaning my teeth and hitting my gums with their instrument. I am not afraid of the dentist and the tools don’t bother me. This was a very unpleasant visit. Further more…today was not a day that I saw the dr. BUT every time I have seen the dr. I have been spoken down to. My gums are not healthy and I do realize this is my fault and my problem that I created for myself. I do not need to be berated. I’d like to fix the problem and need help and assistance in doing so. When I have questions concerning my dental health, multiple times, the drs have acted like I was bothering them and I got very short responses that didn’t explain much. I didn’t go to school to become a dentist so I wouldn’t know the answer to these questions. It feels like the drs I’ve spoken yo (one of them being Dr. Barney) didn’t become drs to help others and instead because it was a good career that made them a good earning. Bravo . Good on you. …but given this, while in school, it might have benefited them to take an acting class or two so at least patients who had questions didn’t walk out feeling ostracized for being curious about their own dental health. Quit disappointed… Rant over…take this as you will…

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit here and the staff from reception to the person who did my xrays and my hygienist were very friendly and kept me informed of what each task was being done. The hygienist asked before starting if I had any sensitive areas. She did a great job on my cleaning even though we found a couple of sensitive areas, she gave me a break after each one. Dr. Barney was very nice and explained my exrays to me and any concerns he had with my teeth.

Fantastic experience: I was a walk in with a bad tooth. Paper work was done in a very quick manner and I was seen within few minutes. The dental assistant was very good. The dentist was very thorough and had a day set for further treatment. I was very pleased with the thoroughness and quick and efficient service. Grateful I found them.

Negative experience: Everyone here is friendly, but that's it. I had a root canal done in house, and it was botched so badly that I'm writing this review 6 months later, still dealing with the repercussions. When I initially went back in after due to extreme pain, I was told that they probably missed filling a canal, they don't have the proper camera to see how many canals each person has, and *shrugged* it happens. WHY ARE YOU DOING THE PROCEDURE THEN? Not only did they miss a canal but there is now sealer in my sinuses and an overfilled canal that pierced a sinus cavity. I have been to see an endodontist, an ENT, and 2 different oral surgeons, all telling me it's too risky for them to try to fix this. On top of everything the crown doesn't properly fit and has affected surrounding teeth. They screwed up my face forever. AVOID SONOMA AT ALL COSTS.

Fantastic experience: Honestly, I love the place. They are very welcoming and have time for their patients and importantly, very reasonable price and very high quality services. In short, i love their services. I will not hesitate to refer Sonoma Dental to anyone. Good job!

Negative experience: Most recent appointment was fine. I am very unsatisfied with issues relating to a dental procedure a year and a half ago. The issues are still unresolved, on- going and causing pain.
