Negative experience: I do not like leaving one star reviews very often, but this is a must to warn all of the other parents out there don’t even consider taking small children here if they have any sort of fear or anxiety about the dentist or trying new things. They are not child friendly. They may have a little area for children to play in but don’t let that fool you. This was my daughter‘s first ever dentist visit. I’m a first time Mom I don’t have much experience with this stuff, but I do know that my kid can’t be the only one who is afraid of something they’ve never tried before, especially at four years old. I would have much rather had the office tell me in the first place that they don’t do well with small children. Instead of telling my child, she was uncooperative within the first five minutes of the appointment and sending her off somewhere else and having to wait who knows how many more months to get in there. It breaks my heart to see my kid sob that way while a stranger tells her she didn’t do a good job, and it frustrates me to no end that other people feel they have the right to do that. I am her mom and I don’t need some cleaning tech telling her she didn’t do a good job and she doesn’t deserve nice things because she didn’t do a good job. Anxiety does not equal bad behavior. And to boot, as I was walking in, they tried to Call me and reschedule her appointment for later in the day. It didn’t sit right with me either that I felt like I was being put on trial. I understand I am responsible for her health but to go on about how not a lot of places will see her and how at least nobody near us will take our insurance because we have such a cheap insurance. ☹️ this is how my daughter and I were made to feel Please don’t leave one of those generic messages about how you want to make things right either I will not be calling the office. I will not be coming back there. Lol I am one of lots of one star reviews I see now. My mistake for not doing research I suppose.

Fantastic experience: Been going to MCDC since I was very young. Always loved all the staff!

Negative experience: Needed an emergency extraction. Went through all the hoops to register as a new patient to be told I had to be evaluated before an appointment can be set up. How hard is it to pull a tooth when it's causing someone to constantly pass out due to the pain.

Fantastic experience: I took my father to his dental appointment and everyone was very nice and attentive to his comfort.

Negative experience: I have no bad comments about the care I received, but I was treated poorly by office staff to the point I dreaded speaking to them. They are possibly overworked, but always excessively rude. I was chastised for becoming ill and not making it to an appointment, they do not understand if you have transportation issues, which is always a possibility when public transit and medical rides aren't dependable. It's unfortunate that many of their clients go through life weighted with struggles: mental health issues, health issues, and transportation barriers, that don't make for perfect patients. This place, a place that is supposed to help them, is another place where low-income people are treated with no compassion or care and I hope that changes for those of us who depend on this service.

Negative experience: I had an extremely disappointing experience at this dental office. From the start, the staff was dismissive, and the doctor seemed more interested in lecturing than actually addressing the issue at hand. Instead of focusing on patient care, they insisted on using a faulty blood pressure machine, despite their own nurse admitting that it had been reading high all day. Basic medical knowledge tells you that blood pressure should be taken manually with a stethoscope, not over clothing with an unreliable machine. When I questioned their methods, the conversation escalated into a heated exchange, with the doctor talking down to me rather than acknowledging the issue. After all of this, they finally suggested taking my blood pressure manually—only because I kept pushing back on their inaccurate machine. But by that point, my blood pressure had already spiked from the frustrating conversation and condescending treatment. Sitting there even longer just to wait for it to come down was a complete waste of my time. Instead of taking responsibility for their faulty equipment, they chose to argue and dismiss my concerns. Beyond that, the lack of privacy was shocking. The office is set up with open stations, meaning personal medical conversations are completely exposed. I could hear every detail of other patients' discussions, and throughout my visit, the sound of crying children filled the space. In the end, they refunded my money—likely to cover themselves—but the experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and not one I would wish on anyone. I would never recommend this place to anyone looking for competent and respectful care.

Fantastic experience: I had a scheduled cleaning for next month. The side of one of my molars broke off and not only were they able to see me for an emergency examination this morning but somebody canceled their appointment today which was convenient because it allowed me to get my tooth extracted today! The nearest hospital doesn't even offer emergency extraction but only antibiotics to prevent infection this little clinic does more then the closest ER when it comes to Dental emergencies. The staff is very friendly and welcoming the facility is very clean and also nice atmosphere. Everyone who took care of me did an amazing job and I would highly recommend this place to anybody. As I said sometimes they have cancellation so if you're on a waiting list you might be able to get in sooner than expected like I was able to today instead of having to deal with this exposed nerve for three more weeks they took care of me today and if not today I'm sure something would have opened up tomorrow or next week so I highly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: I was so scared because my tooth was badly chipped. I called for a appointment, I then went in and they took X-rays. Now the whole office is neat clean, smells good and looks new. The whole staff is very upbeat and serious about their job in dental care. I was told through my X-rays what was wrong and they immediately made another appointment for me, they even wrote out a prescription for me. I felt safe, heard and cared about. I got tears in my eyes now. Thank you all for taking my insurance and treating me so well. God bless you all.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience. My past dentist of 7 years was not doing x-rays and bonded 4 teeth together which caused a huge cavity problem. They were wonderful, friendly, patient and professional and my teeth never felt or looked better. Thank you

Negative experience: Lady at the desk was EXTREMELY rude. There was a miscommunication where it was stated my child’s appointment was 10 minutes early then it was which wasn’t what i was told. The lady then proceeded to be rude and said that just not to show up at all when i was already there for my actual appointment time. i just can’t believe the service here, unbelievable

Negative experience: I’ve been a patient at My Community Dental Centers (MCDC) for several years and, until now, was satisfied with the service. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend them due to a recent and extremely frustrating experience. On October 14, I had a cleaning and requested updated dental work that required a preauthorization from Delta Dental. I was told the request would be submitted, and I should expect a response within a month. However, after a month, I had received no letter from Delta Dental and no follow-up from MCDC. When I called MCDC to inquire about the delay, the receptionist assured me I should hear something soon. Three weeks later—still with no update—I decided to contact Delta Dental directly. To my surprise, they informed me that MCDC had never submitted a preauthorization request for my procedure. This was nearly two months after my initial appointment. I called the Port Huron location to address the issue and was met with excuses and unhelpful responses from the receptionist. When I insisted on speaking with a manager, I was put on hold before another staff member finally admitted that a separate department now handles preauthorization and is several months behind in submitting requests. Despite this delay, MCDC had no problem promptly billing my insurance for the cleaning performed in October. This level of incompetence is unacceptable. I am now facing potential complications with getting my procedure approved due to upcoming changes to my health and dental insurance in 2025. MCDC’s inability to handle time-sensitive matters demonstrates a complete disregard for their patients’ needs. I strongly urge others to seek out a dental provider that values their patients and takes healthcare deadlines seriously. MCDC has proven they are not up to the task. And to MCDC: spare me your generic, scripted response. Your cookie-cutter replies are as unhelpful and insincere as the service you provide.

Fantastic experience: Always nice and friendly, when they call. The new Doctor is wonderful and thorough.. Nice people. They are super nice when you keep your appointment and show up on time. And should I need an emergency visit, I can get seen easily because I'm always on time

Fantastic experience: My Community Dental center in Port Huron treated my mom really well. They are gentle and thorough and the ladies who call you and are in the front to greet you, are so nice. Both hygienists and the dentist gave us lots of information so that my mom could make decisions on dentures. If the process continues like it’s going so far, I will be elated and thoroughly recommend this dental center. Update: Dentures are in and Dr Ray continues to gently tweak them as my mom gets used to them. This practice continues to be fast, efficient, thorough and responsive. Dr Ray is great.

Fantastic experience: I was so happy with my toddlers first experience visiting the dentist. Carly was honestly just so amazing, she made it great for my daughter! And they had a treasure box with a bunch of goodies on the way out! Definitely recommend for kids!

Positive experience: It takes months to be seen there, but they have updated their system to help let you know when there is an earlier available appointment and I’m glad about that. However, we had this appointment for 5 months and they changed the time without asking us, from 1pm to 12:30pm and my mom has dementia and it’s really hard to get her ready and leave the house And make it anywhere on time. Our whole family (Who works together together to appointments) didn’t understand why they changed the time without asking. We were lucky we made it. Mom complains about mouth pain all the time and it takes months to be seen. I wish it were different. I think it’s cruel to make patient wait so long.

Only drawback in my opinion is the wait time to get an appointment. It took over a month to get in to the dentist even though I explained on the website that I was indeed having pain. But otherwise great service due back not until mid October so I must wait another two months for the extractions.

Teana, heather and I think Debbie were the front ladies I worked with today and absolutely amazing and make scheduling, checking in and everything a breeze.

Negative experience: UPDATE- I was refunded (check in mail) for the cleaning I did not receive, almost a month after the appointment. In the meantime I applied for the Healthy Michigan Plan and was accepted (in 10 days!) so I’m not going to have to deal with this again. Original rating 1 star, updated to 2 because I got the money back for the cleaning I didn’t get. Still had to pay for the exam I’m not going to have any use for (since I’m not planning on returning if I have the option). Original review: Extremely disappointed. They had me pay for an exam and cleaning, and then did not do the cleaning because my blood pressure was far too high (after not doing the basics for blood pressure readings like sitting for feet on the floor and letting you rest for 5 minutes). she complained that the monitor was having issues all day and that one of my readings was an error, another time it came unplugged and she didn’t even notice until i said something, and another time the cuff fell off my arm, but she didn’t try another device or anything. it was apparently reading 166/120, and they basically shoved me out the door because they can’t treat with blood pressure so high. No resources on low-cost doctors to get it checked, i didn’t even get the chance to ask because they didn’t let me stop at the front desk, so I went and bought a little monitor. my at-home readings are like 125/83 and 130/89, which aren’t amazing and i do plan to work on it, but they let me think i was at a really high risk of a stroke! And they aren’t refunding me for the service i didn’t receive. I got an exam, but no cleaning. I have a broken tooth and apparently need a root canal, but they said they don’t even do root canals, even though the website clearly says this location does. I don’t like the way I was treated, and i would expand more if the review box had more characters. I sent them a text with the full review, so they have all my issues. Things like being told to do things I already do (they never asked and never gave me a chance to say i do that already), shoving stuff in my mouth for x-rays and when i complained i felt like i was going to get sick from gagging, she laughed and said it’s the same they use on four year olds. Okay, but I still choked and felt like I was about to get sick! And if i did, she probably would have been mad at me for it. If you can afford to go literally anywhere else, please do so. I was worried about leaving a bad review because I probably won’t be treated well if I go back, but I won’t go back unless I have NO other options at all. Even then, not sure. They also had me sign things on a little tablet pad thing, and didn’t let me see what i was signing - just told me stuff like ‘this is to say the dentist checked your teeth’. I have no idea what anything actually was, but it’s not like i could refuse to sign! So i’m sure something somewhere said no refunds, but they didn’t give me a chance to read anything so I have no clue. That can’t be legal! Signing something you’re not allowed to read?? You can’t sign a contract if you only see the part where you sign… i sat out in the parking lot and cried for a good 10 minutes. Then i looked at the blood pressure form they gave me to get signed by a doctor, and the times on the three readings hadn’t even happened yet! My appointment was 12:40 and the first reading was 1:45 on the form. I left the office before then! So they can’t even get the time right on something like an important medical form, I wouldn’t trust them. Really upset I wasted my time, money, and got even more medical anxiety from them.

Positive experience: Well my experience for the most part has been pretty good with community dental centers. However, you said they called me in the script while I was there but the script never got to the Walgreens so I don't know if it was sent or something got screwed up but I know I'm hurting for certain and I don't know what to do I tried to call but nobody was there.

Fantastic experience: I have been to ALOT of dentists over many years. And I have to say MCDC is the best of them all. They are kind, polite, and actually care about your health. As well as fast paced to get the work done. Trying to get an appointment will take months. However that just go"s to show how good and popular they are.

I want to say thank you to the staff who were very kind and caring, especially about my visual issues. I’ve also had high anxiety going to the dentist, but they made me feel comfortable, so my anxiety was very minimal. I thank God for placing me there. All those that I encountered on my visit were professional and friendly. Overall, very good experience.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic experience: I have had an irrational and pathological fear of the dentist office for my entire life. Once comfortable with a dentist though, the experience becomes a little less traumatizing, and I might be able to make it through the entire visit without crying... but every time I would get to that point, something would happen and I'd find myself faced with finding a new one. One of my favorites sold his practice... at my first visit with the new dentist, she was personally offended by my weeping and acted rather hostile and demeaning about it... it was years before I saw another dentist. A vicious cycle developed. My experience here was like none other. The compassion and professionalism with which I was treated made my whole experience almost pleasant. And I had 2 infected molars yanked out. I don't know that I've ever been treated so kindly by any other healthcare professional. I would feel comfortable with recommending them to the most skittish of patients.

Everytime I have an appointment I always get asked to leave a review, so I guess I'll just elaborate. I usually have Michelle as my hygienist so it's nice to build a repor. She's quick, efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. Consistent EVERY TIME.

Negative experience: Do not go here! Very unprofessional, refused to let me speak with the office manager to make a complaint, and hung up on me 5x and then threatened to call the police if I called back. Im not sure who I spoke to (3 different people and none of them identified themselves). They told me her dad signed renewal paperwork at the last appointment but he never did. They want to quote their policies yet neither parent has set eyes on any policy of theirs! Save yourself the trouble and go to Lakeside

Positive experience: Good staff service. Most Dr's a very good. Had a couple didn't do well. Gad to have some reworked done right with other dentists. I have a new Dentists- Dr. Shane Langolf- best one yet.but I'm sure there are others as well.

Fantastic experience: Very nice staff. Came in for an emergency tooth infection. Contour didn't have time to pull it. But he tried anyway which was much appreciated! Needless to say i didn't get it out. The infection was too bad for the numbing to work. So they sent me home with antibiotic to bring the infection down before they try again.

Fantastic experience: I had received a upper and lower partial. The lower partial felt very uncomfortable. The staff did their best to make things right. After several visits they finally got the lower partial to fit right. The staff is very pleasant.

I'm doing well after I had it pulled out. Thank you for such good care. I want to thank you for my new crowns. You did a good job with them. I had another appointment and only had cleaning done. I am very pleased with there work an kindness. Very nice dentist ans staff.

Negative experience: I was very quickly looked at and was told I have 4 visible cavities. Thought that was odd so I went to a family members dentist for a second opinion and was told I only have 1. Not to mention the woman that did my cleaning was more concerned about talking to her co workers and getting to lunch with them than doing my cleaning properly, have never had my gums bleed and hurt so badly and my teeth shifted the next day. She hardly polished them left the back half. This is the second time I've had this dentist group lie to me to get money. Will not be giving them another chance.

They go so very, very far beyond any thing asked of them in their job. They are super friendly and make the task of bringing my mother here in a wheelchair from a nursing home so much easier!!! They deserve to be congratulated by the president of the company and a bonus given.

Fantastic experience: Revised: 11/2023 Annual Exam and Cleaning. A lot of bone loss but still strong teeth even with ongoing gum disease. Luv my dentist, Shelly. I feel comfortable. Staff is respectful and explain things thoroughly. Good service. Continue to work with me to maintain teeth despite my gum disease. Loyal patient, after several years. Fantastic experience: Takes a while to get in usually, but the cleanings and fillings I've had are better than any dentist I've ever been to! They take medicaid and even with NO insurance it's way cheaper than others in the county!

Dentist’s are totally awesome, personable, provide top quality work, answer every single one of my none ending questions and always go the extra mile for me. I love going to this Dentist Office. Positive experience: They are great and do a great job. My before and after pics are shocking. Only problem is LONG wait times between appts for dental work. 3 month wait after cleaning for the first fillings. Then another 6 month wait until next fillings. Then when they do those couple of fillings, they’ll make appt for the next few so it will be many more months before all fillings are done.

Fantastic experience: All the staff are very friendly and very professional. I am very happy to go with you ❤️today I was very nervous since I had to have a tooth removed and the doctor was really incredible. I didn't suffer, she was kind and considerate. I am very happy and I feel grateful.
