Oral Surgery of Tidewater

Negative experience: They never answer the phone and never call back. I have been having after surgery problems for over three weeks. I was sent by the VA Hospital to them for surgery. I ended up having to carry paperwork back and forth to make sure it got done. Surgery went great but the follow-up is a crap shoot. I am having terrible pains from tooth shards and can get no one to answer me. No way to treat a patient.

Negative experience: One of the worst medical experiences of my life, I had to cancel my surgery because their office staff has no clue what they were doing. Talk about incompetent, I called a week before my surgery to let them know to change my pharmacy, and the day before my surgery, they still had not done so. I waited at the pharmacy for 4 hours for the medications to show up that I needed for pre-surgical prep, but they did not. I called multiple times, and I was reassured that it was sent; it was not. The pharmacy called numerous times to find out what was going on, and again, he was reassured that they were waiting for the provider to sign the scripts that i had requested a week prior. To no avail, they were received at the pharmacy after hours, and I had to cancel my surgery due to the pre-prep meds not being available to me because the pharmacy was closed. I don't understand why this happened. I was very much looking forward to my surgery, and due to this incident, I will look for a new surgical office that wants patients to have what they should have, and for what would have been paid for fully. The only thing pleasant about this place was Dr. Ford's professionalism and friendliness.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful office visit. Staff was great. Oral surgeon was great. Made me feel comfortable.

Negative experience: Bring your own X-rays, insurance denied, and they want $187 for it and won't negotiate at all. I will never give them my business again. To OST, not calling, already paid the bill and not intrested in wasting my time with you.

Fantastic experience: All around great experience here with Dr. Ford (molar tooth extraction). I wish I knew the name of the assistant that took care of me both visits (consultation & surgery) because he was absolutely wonderful too!! (Light skinned guy late 20s early 30s maybe).

Fantastic experience: This has been the best medical/dental experience and treatment I have EVER had. The staff was super nice and accommodating. The doctor was quick, friendly, and knowledgeable. He knew my case very well based on my referral and consultation. The financial team, Laurie, super helpful and offered different options for my surgery. Just an upstanding staff and office all around! My doctor, Dr. Ford, even called me himself afterwards, to check how I was doing and to see if I needed anything else or had any questions. I’d highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I came in the office for wisdom teeth removal. I was incredibly nervous, as I’ve never had a procedure done before. The staff was friendly with smiles and the office environment was encouraging. Dr Guter performed my procedure in a timely fashion, and even reached out post-op for any questions, comments, or concerns later that evening. I am forever grateful for their hospitality during this experience.

Fantastic experience: I found this location for my 12 year old to get 4 teeth extractions. I did as much research as I could but I ultimately had to rely on faith. We had a great experience from the pleasant staff to the open communication. My daughter said the nurse is nice (she calls her the nice lady with the cool red hair) and Dr. Ford is funny. She felt really cared for when Dr. Ford called to check on her. Oh and it’s a beautiful, well kept facility. I highly recommend and I will use them again when my other daughter needs assistance. Thank you for all that you do!

Positive experience: Thank you Dr. Ford and his staff for helping me. I am 28 years old, U.S. Navy veteran and the Hampton VA Medical Center community care office sent the referral to them. The only thing I will recommend was to notify patients ahead of time of how to prepare for their oral surgery appointment. I spent $60 on my dip manicure Sunday and was notified the next day at 12:30 am via email of not being able to have nail polish. I had to go back and I spent another $30 to get it soaked off. I met with the other doctor in August 2024 and we scheduled for October. There was plenty of time in between for them to alert me of this. Either way I am on my second day of recovery. No pain. I got all the medications I need. I was put under anesthesia and this was my first time ever. I was very confused and emotional when I was in my vehicle because I didn’t know what was going on. An hour or two later everything started making sense. I wish I could have seen my tooth after extracted. It was a partially impacted (I believe) molar #32. Thanks again.

Fantastic experience: UPDATED‼️ (VA Approved Implants) Surgery went VERY WELL! The experience was exceptional. Dr Ford and his staff went above and beyond to make me comfortable. All I can say is, if anyone is nervous about getting implants I understand. But if you are in the hands of Dr Ford don’t be. Being complicated and uncooperative because of fear only makes it hard for the them to do their job. If trust was a person it would have been his staff that day. I laughed and joked with them as they prepared me for surgery. I was scheduled to come back in two weeks. During downtime I took the prescribed medication as needed. From my experience it is very important to rest and not talk even if you can. By the third day my mouth was in unbearable pain. And even though I didnt sneeze I still had bone graft seeping on the inside in draining down my throat. It was a tickling sensation that was very annoying. Because it made me have to keep swallowing for it to go down. I did call in was assured that it was normal since they over pack it. Because I was doing a lot of talking prior I just took my meds in rested. Overall is was worth the wait. And I’m excited to finish the process with the VA in 6 months I’m a veteran that was approved for two implants in December of 2023. I had three choices…in OST was the best of the three choices. After making my initial appointment I was seen within a week. The staff are very patient in will answer any questions you may have about the process. Meeting the Doctor for the first time was refreshing. (After expressing his surprise that the VA had approved my implants), he took a look in my mouth. He explained that I may need a bone graft and sinus lift before placing the implants. His knowledge of implants made it very easy to trust the process. He also explained the process with the VA approving the additional procedure before going forward. Btw, the office is freezing. I DO NOT like the cold. But they made it up with these cozy warm blankets that they are happy to provide if you express your discomfort to the temperature. In that made a big difference for my comfort level. (It took at least a month to get the additional work approved. In thanks to OST going above and beyond, alongside my constant reaching out to the VA, we were able to get it done.) The staff was ready to schedule me, within a couple days, for the second phase before surgery. This phase would take at least three weeks to a month to complete; the attachments that will be used to place the implants in the precise location desired. March 27, 2024 is my surgery date. I will come back with an update. STAY TUNED!!

Fantastic experience: This is without a doubt the best dental/oral surgery experience of my 71 years! When you visit, please take time to notice that every person working in this office has a smile on their face (even with masks) you can see it in their eyes. It says a lot! Special thanks to Dr. Guter, Emily and Sarah. See you on the 12th of March! Well, today is the 12th. My surgery was at 9 am this morning. I saw the sweetest nurse (Emily) and surgeon prior to surgery. Next thing I knew I was going home with my wonderful husband of almost 45 years. It's now 6 pm in the evening and I am doing great; less two back teeth! I'd like for everyone to know how wonderful Dr. Guter is. Beautiful bed side manner and very easy on the eyes. Hey, I am 70, not blind! Thank you to the entire staff for the care you gave me. Bless you all and all members of the medical fields and hundreds of the workers administering COVID vaccines. You are my heros! 2024 August Three years later I have returned to see Dr. Guter! He is still awesome and the rest of the staff are still excellent. Mildred and Gemma were wonderful and answered all my questions! I had a back tooth extracted and a biopsy done on my inner cheek. Zero pain following procedures. This group is great and stays on top of things. I truly felt as though I was their only patient!!!! Thank you Dr. Guter for your excellent care. T Farley

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough good things. Everyone I interacted with was professional and kind. It was clean and organized. Mary and Dr G were amazing. She was so patient and explained everything and answered all my questions. I am so thankful for her and the Dr. they really were the best!!

Fantastic experience: I had my surgery consult on 5-22-2024. Eric went over my medical hx and took X-rays. Dr. Ford explained everything and exudes a calm confidence. I was so grateful that both were friendly. Even when I first called to make the appt., Gabby was very helpful and polite. She helped me checkout after my consult too. Laurie went over the treatment plan with me and she was an absolute delight. My experience was a great one and I look forward to my extractions. For real…I can’t wait because they hurt! I know I’m in great hands with Dr. Ford and his team. Oh and a beautiful waiting area too!

Fantastic experience: Got all 4 wisdom teeth taken out yesterday, and what a smooth process! Did laughing gas and twilight sedation. Next day I hardly have any pain and the surgeon called me last night to check up on me. 10/10

Positive experience: Just got my wisdom teeth extracted. Eric was my surgical assistant. Dr Ford was my surgeon. I love Eric. Very professional. Great listener. Explained everything. Please give him a raise and as many snacks as he wants. Front office staff very friendly and professional. Dr Ford excellent. Went through the procedure and explained the risks very frankly. Very good experience. Four stars because time is a thing and I was taken back >15 minutes after my appointment time, which stressed me out more than the procedure itself. But that means that they were taking the necessary care of other patients, so I can't be that mad.

Fantastic experience: Had a very great experience, and I was very anxious and nervous, but the staff was very soothing and comforting. Don't get that very much these days. Very well organized and clean environment. I would highly recommend anyone to get their wisdom teeth removed here. Fantastic experience: So, yesterday I got 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Ford. Let me tell you something between the staff and the doctors this place is amazing. I’m on day 2, barely little to no pain and NO swelling! I have a serious fear of dentist. But, that’s been that way since a little girl. Oral surgery of tidewater definitely changed my mind! Fantastic experience: I am so grateful to have picked OST from my dentist referral lists . I had a huge abscess and I was in such excruciating pain, the entire team in the office from front to back took Such good.loving care and concern with professionalism. They fit me in immediately the day that I got the referrals and by the next morning they made it possible to have the tooth and abscess removed. They are all so very talented kind & compassionate. From , the office manager called in my prescriptions quickly before I left and had made it her purpose to get me in ASAP Dr. Ford was amazing he called to check on me after surgery at 7 pm that night. Fantastic experience: Beautiful place, beautiful staff, and will definitely recommend. They really care about their customers. They checked with my insurance and told me in advance how much I will be looking to pay. They were all so professional and courteous. The surgent was very nice and made us feel so comfortable and in good hands. At the end we were offered beverages and our way we went. I have never experienced that great quality of customer service from the very beginning to the very end so I was so pleased with them. I truly appreciate their work ethic and their care for their customers.

Fantastic experience: I had a very good experience with the overall procedure done. Everyone was very professional and courteous. I was very nervous but they made sure I was relaxed/calm enough before the procedure started. I didn't feel a thing! So thankful for that because I've had bad experiences in the past with other dentists. I would certainly recommend this doctors office if you are in need.

Fantastic experience: Would give more stars if I could. I was in immense pain from my wisdom teeth. Other places had 2+ month long wait lists just for a consult. OST got me in for consult and same day surgery 2 days after I called. The staff were all very nice and Dr Guter was so sweet and comforting. Thank you!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I cannot stress enough how wonderful this place is. The staff was amazing and caring. I had to have emergency surgery and I had been in excruciating pain for over a week. No one would help me and I felt defeated it was so bad I ended up in the emergency room because the infection had run so ramped. Dr. Ford accepted me with open arms when no one else would. He made sure I was going to be helped that day and end the suffering I had been going through. Dr. Ford and his team deserve an award! Thank You from the bottom of my heart.

Fantastic experience: We went to OST to ease my daughters mind of a procedure needing done- 2 exposures and 2 extractions as they offered sedation. From the first call to walking in the door to a beautiful clean office for the consult the staff at OST were phenomenal!! All went perfectly and they took the best care of my girl. She said everyone was so nice. Laura - Dr Fords treatment coordinator is phenomenal. Such a sweetheart and made my girl feel comfortable and at ease. Dr Ford was the best! He has such a great personality, listened to all my concerns and answered all questions, came out to discuss all after surgery, and followed up at 530 with a call to check on my girl. Fantastic experience: I had my wisdom teeth extracted yesterday and Dr. Guter and his whole team was wonderful! I was nervous and they did a lovely job not only keeping me calm but making me laugh. They all did a terrific job explaining all the steps and taking such great care of me.

Fantastic experience: I am 31 and got all 4 wisdom teeth removed (1 impacted) and incredibly after the surgery I felt next to no pain, not even enough to feel like taking a pain killer. Just nausea which settled down after a few hours. I am on day 2 right now and woke up with no pain at all its crazy. The staff were very friendly, caring, and helpful as well. Dr Guter even called me later that night to check up on me, at like 7pm at night. Incredible. They also do a no-insurance discount and accept Aetna vital savings which helped tremendously with the cost of the operation. If I had to do it all again I would go back to OST without a 2nd thought. Fantastic experience: I just had four wisdom teeth, one of which was impacted, removed. I am 33 years old and had put this procedure off for years due to extreme anxiety, I recently broke one of my wisdom teeth and the root was exposed and was killing me. The first place I went didn't seem to concerned about my pain level or the anxiety I was having. I searched again and did some more research and I found Oral surgery of Tidwater. They got me right in for a consultation the day after my tooth broke. I can't express how nice they were to me. They took X-rays and thoroughly explained what would happen, complications I might have being a older wisdom tooth patient, and most importantly my anxiety. They provided me anxiety medicine the night before and the morning of surgery. Once I arrived they were super nice, wheeled me right back and started an IV. I don't really remember anything after the IV but that's a good thing I guess. About a hour later I was done. There is some obvious pain post surgery but it's nothing what I imagined it would be. Thank you guys so much kindness and expertise. If anyone is considered a wisdom tooth removal I highly recommend them, especially parents, go ahead and have your kids taken care of like my parents should have so they don't have to suffer when they're older.

Fantastic experience: OST is a wonderful place. The waiting room is pleasant, bright, modern, comfortable, and clean. Dr. Guter removed a tooth using excellent care and skill. Dr. Guter’s outstanding assistant, Kylie, held my hand as long as I needed her. Kylie & Dr. Gutter made me feel welcome and comfortable. I know that I’m just another patient but that is not the way I felt. Another great feature of this practice is their complete transparency regarding the costs, my insurance limitations, their expectations. They sent timely reminders regarding my appointments, which were greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: Had 3 wisdom teeth taken out today and I was a nervous wreck going in. I was immediately put at ease by Eric who walked me through everything. Before I knew it I was being woke back up after the procedure. Some tenderness at the moment which is to be expected. Dr Ford literally just called to check how I was doing which is such a wonderful thing to do. He reassured me that all went well and he didn't forsee any issues with recovery. Overall I would highly recommend this place. Great staff and facility.

Fantastic experience: They were very quick to get me into the office for a consultation after spending the prior night in agony. Scheduled me an exact week out to get all four wisdom teeth taken out. Very courteous and informative, also very willing to answer all questions. I’m super nervous for the procedure but everyone was so kind that I almost don’t mind. 10/10

Fantastic experience: Needed an urgent extraction to be done within a month. They were very understanding and were able to accommodate me within 2 weeks. Office staff was efficient. Dr. Ford was phenomenal. Very minor discomfort after the extraction and bone graft. Almost no swelling. Dr. Ford personally called a few hours after to follow up how I was doing. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Second Procedure: Had a broke molar and wisdom tooth removed yesterday and still have no pain, just a little soreness which is great. They got me in within 2 weeks after another practice canceled my surgery because I was 10 minutes late. I will never schedule with anyone but them for my family from this point on. Everyone was great from from desk to oral surgeon. Thanks again for getting rid of the mind numbing pain caused by my tooth issues. First procedure: Had a molar and wisdom tooth removed yesterday and still haven’t noticed any pain which is surprising. Same day consultation and surgery went smooth and on schedule. Dental assistants/receptionist/billing staff were great and informative. Definitely would have future procedures done here.

Fantastic experience: I had a tooth extracted by Dr. Ford and my experience was excellent. The staff was also very organized and friendly. My prescriptions were called to the pharmacy of my choice about a week before my procedure. The day of the procedure, everything went well. I got the laughing gas and I was nice and relaxed. He was telling me everything he was doing during the whole procedure. I got my post surgery instructions and I went home. I would highly recommend this practice for all your oral surgery needs.

Fantastic experience: So thankful for Dr. Ford and his amazing team. I had an emergency wisdom tooth extraction needed during my third trimester of pregnancy, Dr. Ford got me in as soon as possible to relieve my pain. Fantastic experience: OMG, my visits were amazing ❤️!! The facility is always very clean and inviting . Customer service and the staff is fabulous and I feel welcomed from the time I walk in the door. Doctor Ford, his dental hygienist, the anesthesiologist, the nurse, and everyone else involqved took excellent care of me. Everyone involved went out there way in my opinion to make sure I felt safe and comfortable for my procedure. I was offered a nice warm blanket and a pillow to ensure my comfort. The procedure went extremely well, painless, and quick. The place is simply beautiful, people and all. Thank you to everyone for your excellent care for me!

Fantastic experience: This place is beyond Awesome. From the front desk to the surgeon. They go beyond to make you feel comfortable. Dr Ford did such an awesome job removing all 4 of my son's wisdom teeth ( and my son recovery was smooth) that I went the following week to have my tooth extracted.

Positive experience: The staff was very kind and respectful, the only overwhelming part is how quickly everything speeds up once they start prepping. I appreciated the at-home call from the surgeon checking on my status directly after my surgery. Office staff could be slightly friendlier but for the most part they were nice and helpful. Very much recommend this office for any oral care needs.

Fantastic experience: I had an absolutely amazing experience here. When my wisdom teeth became impacted and extremely painful, I couldn’t find any clinic within an hour and a half from me that had open appointments for several months. I was desperate and willing to drive far, so I called Oral Surgery of Tidewater and they got me in within 2 weeks!! I made the 2.5 hour trip there for my consult, stayed the night (and enjoyed the beach!), and got my wisdom teeth removed the next day. Dr. Guter and his team were AMAZING and made me feel at ease the whole time. They even helped me find a local pharmacy to send my prescriptions to since I wasn’t familiar with the area. I highly recommend OST to everyone, and I wish I was closer!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic team and care from everyone! Dr Guter and his team has made my getting an implant a smooth process. Mary is so upbeat and cheerful, and it makes a difference! I was a little fearful since I never had one, but they were amazing explaining everything in detail and not making you feel stupid for asking. They are incredibly organized and check up on you. It was impressive the surgeon calls at several steps along the way to make sure everything is going well. The office is great at returning calls and answering questions. I’m so thankful I am here having this work done, as they’re thorough and are using the latest technology to make everything easy and customized to your needs. I hope not to need this again, but they have set the bar for expectations. Rest easy, you’re in good hands here!

Fantastic experience: They were so smooth during the whole process. Helped me every time I needed a signature for time off of work. Called me after surgery to check up on me. The nurses and doctor were very knowledgeable when I asked them any questions about before and after the surgery. Highly recommend them. I’ve had some rough dentist outings over the last year and this was a great experience all around.

Fantastic experience: This was such a phenomenal experience. I was in so much pain from 2 teeth that needed to be extracted. The surgical staff was able to schedule me in promptly after just a couple days and they provided me with medications in the meantime to help control the pain. The entire staff was professional while also promoting an environment that was very calming and inviting. The procedure was quick with little to no pain afterwards. I also really appreciate that my doctor contacted me a few hours after the procedure to check how I was doing. This practice is one of the most thorough, professional, comforting, and caring ones I have ever been to. I HIGHLY recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: Very nice office. They were able to get me in fast. All of the staff was very friendly! The process was well explained and I feel prepared for my procedure. Update after procedure: had my tooth extracted and I can honestly say this was the best experience ever at a dentist. This is the way dental work should be done. Relaxed and pain free. I only remember the beginning and then being told we were done. I had all of my pain meds at home and was able to take one and sleep. Thank you so much for your kindness and compassion.

Fantastic experience: Staff was AMAZING!! They saw how urgent my situation was and although they couldn’t do it the same day, they did schedule me asap which was two days later. They were very polite and upbeat. They put me to sleep and woke up me and it felt like I literally just blinked. Very fast and after the numbing went away I was in no pain at all. Very caring staff and great experience. So glad I found you all.

Fantastic experience: LOVE LOVE LOVE this practice! This was the second time Dr. Guter took care of oral surgery needs for me and my family. The first time he did my son's wisdom teeth and this time I had to get a tooth extracted. Once again, from the moment I walked through the door, all the way through the surgery, the team was friendly, very professional and so kind. Dr. Guter is hands down one of my all time favorite medical personnel I've had the pleasure of meeting. He takes the time to answer questions and makes a patient feel like they matter. I really appreciate the personal phone call the day after surgery checking to see how I was doing. His assistant Gemma was also so sweet & informative! They truly took care of me! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE!

Fantastic experience: I tell ya for me I’m always anxious going to the dentist, but when I went in to be seen by Dr Guter, he was truly amazing! Dr Guter and his team makes you feel really welcome. He made me feel very comfortable and at ease while answering all my questions and concerns. He really genuinely cares about the well-being of my teeth. After my procedure, everything went so smooth, he even called and checked on me after. The front desk, the assistants, everyone is just so pleasant. Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff. The level of communication that this practice gives is amazing. I have a very painfully toothach and went to Aspen dental prior to coming to this practice. Fantastic experience: I had all four wisdom teeth out today. The entire staff was wonderful. Especially thankful for Mary who eased my anxiety and comforted me as I came out of anesthesia & Dr. Guter for making the surgery feel seamless, having the best personality and his just overall professionalism. From the appointment scheduling staff to doctors, and everyone in-between, they all go above and beyond. Every other office I called looking to be seen (& I called eight other offices between Williamsburg and VA Beach) made me feel like an inconvenience or just another number. OST actually cared from start to finish and I will be recommending them for anyone needing care.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at OST was so awesome and patient! I felt like I was listened to through the entire process and that my concerns and worries were addressed quickly! My surgery went well, completely as expected and the staff and Dr. Ford were amazing and so caring! * update I had full extractions of my remaining teeth with Dr. Ford, surgery went very smoothly healing has been going well I’m about a week out and my pain is minimal at this point! Follow up to come on February 8, 2023! If you are considering extractions go to OST you will never find better people than this amazing group! *follow appointment for two weeks after surgery. Everything is healing well and looks good! I’m so relieved to have made the decision to finally get the remaining teeth out and I could have had a better team of people to help me make that a reality! Fantastic experience: 10 stars!! I cannot say enough nice things about OST. Everyone in the clinic from the front desk to the surgical assistants and Dr. Guter were awesome! They made me feel warm and comfortable despite being extremely anxious about getting all four of my molars extracted. Dr. Guter even called me the night of my surgery to check up on me and to make sure I followed all post-op care. He also answered all my questions without rushing. Fantastic experience: If I could give a thousand stars I would. I had an urgent/emergent dental situation and my tooth needed pulled. I had the consult and seeing how busy the office was I assumed it would be a while before being able to schedule the surgery. They got me back in THAT day—Dr. Ford I think even shortened his lunch break (if he takes one at all). So impressed with the staff I asked if they were hiring!

Fantastic experience: The whole staff was great! The receptionist were very nice and polite, the lady dealing with the financial issues was super nice ! The dental assistance was great ! I don’t think enough dental clinics understand how important it is to have a kind dental assistance dealing with their patients , because patients sitting on that dental chair are usually feeling very vulnerable , specially if they are getting a procedure done. Dr. Ford was great ! He was very profesional and very nice. I didn’t even realize when my tooth was pull. He even called me himself to find out how I was doing. Every little detail was very organized and everything done in just the right order.

Fantastic experience: I don’t even know where to begin. I have severe anxiety when it comes to doctors, hospitals and of course major and minor surgeries. I needed to have 4 wisdom teeth and a second moral removed (wisdom teeth were impacted)for a total of 5 teeth. Dr. Ford and his wonderful team took such GREAT care of me and were so gentle in trying to ease my anxiety. They gave me as much information during the process of sedation that they thought my anxiety could handle and threw in several jokes along the way to further ease my worry. Dr. Ford is truly AMAZING at what he does and his bedside manner is impeccable!!! OST is a wonderful oral surgery practice and we are extremely lucky to have them in the Tidewater area! Fantastic experience: I was so upset when I got to the OST Clinic to find out Dr. Ford wasn't doing my surgery on Thursday because he needed important information for me to sign. After meeting with him he calmed me down. He assured me that he was going to do it today, Sept 23, 2022 and he will take care of me giving me the best care possible. Fantastic experience: In order to allow for possible heavy traffic between my home in Newport News and OST, my daughter and I left in plenty of time and encountering little traffic, we arrived at 12:30 pm for my 2 pm surgery appointment. Although there was anunforseen delay, I was brought into surgery by 2:30 pm. Once preparations took place and the anesthesia activated, the next thing I knew I was being roused awake and after assistance in using the rest room, i was taken by wheelchair to my daughter's car waiting outside the side door. All in all I was treated very well and professionally by Dr. Ford and his entire staff. De. Ford again went over the unique highlights we discussed on my initial consult in April and he answered all my questions this time. I am very pleased with this provider and strongly advise the Department of Veterans Affairs retain this office in the future. After I had to defer an appointment in early June due to delays of the VA in having my medications ready I booked another appointment for late June only to be told later that the VA changed providers and this office couldn't accomodate me any longer. When I compained later to the VA dental chief and patient advocate that my request to see the new provider hadn't made it to my dentist for over a month, the VA decided to honor my original provider, OST. I wish the VA would make an exception and keep this provider for the great future benefit of other veterans.

Fantastic experience: My dentist, Dr. Bergano, highly recommended this establishment to remove my son's wisdom teeth. Dr. Guter & his professional staff are friendly & very knowledgeable. During the consultation, we were at ease, & my son was at peace with going through the surgery. The day of the surgery, the staff continued to carefully explain what is to be expected so we knew exactly what to do at home during recovery. Dr. Guter even called to check on my son later that evening, after work hours. As my son began to heal, we had a question, and the 24-hour Dr. on call immediately returned our call. Thank you for a great experience. We even enjoyed the laughter of my son being loopy after his surgery.

Fantastic experience: Awesome!!! My consultation was quick, smooth, and professional. During my evaluation, Vanessa was very friendly and knowledgeable about my past surgery I had after wearing braces as part of the process to correct my underbite. Afterwards, I was introduced to Dr. Ford. He knew the surgeon whom performed my operation. We discussed the procedure he was going to do which would have no effect on my previous surgery. And last but not least was billing! Laura was amazing! ❤️ She discussed the options which best suited me and got me in the next day without having to wait a few more weeks until having the surgery done. I arrived half an hour early before pre-surgery. I don’t recall the nurse telling me her name that prepped me for surgery, but I would like to give her kudos as well. She too was kind and comforting before and after my procedure. Dr. Ford did a wonderful job making the whole experience incredible! Thanks to him and his professional staff!

I was super nervous when I arrived for my surgery on yesterday, but the receptionist was very kind and assured me that I would be just fine. Nurse Mary was great. She explained everything to me and she prepared me for surgery. I had a wisdom tooth extracted along with 2 other teeth. Dr. Guter was great. He has a way of making you feel better when you're nervous. I can honestly say he's the best Oral surgeon I've ever been to. He also called me the day after my surgery which tells me he's concerned about his patients. I would recommend OST to anyone who needs oral Surgery. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: I am totally and exceptionally please with Oral Surgery of Tidewater.. I totally suffered with tooth pain since June 12th 2022. I had been to other dentist, that were unable to deal with my situation for whatever reason. I made a phone call on Monday to OST, they were so concerned, and moved by the pain that I was in.. they didn't have an opening at first then they called me back the same day and told me that I could come in to have my teeth pulled on Thursday!!! I just was totally impressed with the staff Doctor Ford who pulled my teeth was awesome. They have won me over!! I highly recommend

Fantastic experience: I had Phase II dental implant surgery today and I cannot say enough great things about OST. From the moment you walk in, the front desk is friendly and helpful. The treatment coordinators are wonderful. Last but not least, Dr. Ford, Nikki and the rest of my surgical team were fantastic. Dr. Ford was very enthusiastic about explaining to me how the entire process would go once I was under and Nikki and the other assistant (I didn't catch their name) were amazing getting me prepped and calming my nerves before the procedure. I was asleep and then back in my dads car heading home before I know it. Despite a little mild discomfort at first, after some ice, ibuprofen and a nap.. I don't have much discomfort and have no doubt the healing process will be a breeze! If you're looking for an amazing, caring and enthusiastic oral surgeon who wants to help you feel look and feel your best - I highly recommend Dr. Ford and Oral Surgery of Tidewater!

Fantastic experience: Easy, kind, and informative. The whole process was easy, they went over all the finical responsibilities, they took their time to discuss the procedure. I never felt being rushed, if I had a question they answered it and it was so professional. The procedure itself was very quick, and they even talked to my husband about after care. My assistant was always there and explained everything in detail. The oral surgeon was very kind and once again took his time to explain what he was doing and made sure to keep the room relaxed.

Fantastic experience: Dr Guter, Mary, Jesel and Sara! took excellent care of me. I was nervous and they took their time to explain Everthing to me in a gentle, caring way. The procedure was smooth and took only 1 hour. I'm sore now but not Nearly as bad as before the surgery. I expect to have a quick, happy recovery. Also, the other surgeon, Dr Ford, stopped by and introduced himself! Great people! Absolutely loved this place.
