The staff is Friendly,attentive, to the point. Even have a Keurig Machine in the Lobby that I keenly took advantage of( coffee Fiend)...The Only DOWN side is the STAGGERING costs after insurance, Im left Contemplating buying a tiny home instead for the $ I Need in dental work ...

Negative experience: Dr. Kim was so cool! My dental assistant Rose was really great too. We were laughing and having a good ole time…the front desk folks too, the whole place really. I always get a little nervous at dentist offices because I feel there’s such a wide margin of professionalism and experience the dentist and assistants can have but this place was awesome! I felt so comfortable, and got everything I needed. They do amazing with military families as well. Update (06/10/2024): Another good visit, staff is super friendly and Dr. Kim is dope. I’m starting to get the feeling it’s a bit sale(sy) though. Right after your cleaning, they’ll hit you with a Night Guard pitch (or no pitch at all and you’ll have to refuse it once the proposed settlement bill is shown to you), mouthwash or cancer screening. I’m not saying these aren’t good things but everyone can’t need it right? They hit my fiancé with the night guard sale too and she ended up buying. Update (08/12/2025): Starting to not enjoy my experience here. If you’re not very careful, your ledger balance will accrue without you really noticing. Very pushy sales tactics leading to some buyers remorse on the night guard on their annual attempt to sell me on it. My wife was sold on this night guard too. The pitch is that your insurance is a good one that will pay for half of it…but these are estimated coverages and not guaranteed. I was charged for mouthwashes, cancer screenings and who knows what else that built up. It would have been a little different if I was asked to pay at the end of a visit instead of quietly racking up charges. It’s a shame because it’s close to where I live but my ledger balance was a little more than $500 dollars, it just blew me away. I think I’ll be looking elsewhere.

Negative experience: I visited this clinic once and will not return. I scheduled a regular cleaning after confirming over the phone that they accept Medicaid. I was told they might need X-rays since I was a first-time patient. The hygienist, Linn, noted that because I am pregnant, they would need clearance from my OB before proceeding, yet she immediately began quoting prices for a “semi-deep cleaning” before even determining if I needed one. I was told that it was mandatory and left me with no choice but to sign the paper because I was already laying down on their chair. Seem to have positioned me in a vulnerable spot so I couldnt say no. I was also told that I had to purchase a mouth rinse (which costs about $6 online) for $20, plus an additional $20 “medication” that Medicaid supposedly does not cover. She also tried to sell me a $500 mouth guard, claiming it was discounted from $733, despite me coming in only for a routine cleaning. Reading later reviews, I realized many patients reported similar upselling and overcharging. Throughout the appointment, Linn repeatedly commented on how young I looked for being pregnant. I am 29, and while she may have intended it as a compliment, repeated remarks about a patient’s age, especially in a healthcare setting, come across as unprofessional and judgmental. If I had actually been a younger patient, such comments would have been even more inappropriate. I am an LPN myself and I know how unethical it sounded to me. During the cleaning, she applied numbing cream and scraped my gums for only a few minutes, then left the saliva ejector in my mouth without breaks while I bit down on a mouth guard — and then walked away for several minutes. This was uncomfortable, unprofessional, and concerning. When I left, I felt really skeptical and realized I might've been played, I called the clinic back to clarify their charges, the lady over the phone from their clinic said that because I had tartar buildup they had to charge me for a semi-deep cleaning. AGAIN, SHE NEVER OPENED MY MOUTH TO CHECK IT BEFORE SHE COULD DETERMINE IF I NEEDED ONE. She already had a paper ready to be signed. Based on my experience and the pattern in other reviews, I believe this clinic engages in questionable practices that take advantage of patients, especially those on Medicaid. I urge management to review this hygienist’s conduct and implement corrective action. I will be returning to my previous dentist once my new insurance begins. If you go in because you have no choice due to the kind of insurance you have, I would make sure to question EVERYTHING. It mightve only been $40 they took from me out-of-pocket but being on a tight budget, this is still alot.

Fantastic experience: I came in as a new patient with some pain and swelling in my gum that turned out to be an infection of a previous root canal. Everyone we talked to in the office was incredibly understanding and helpful the whole time, and all of the procedures they did were well-explained to both myself and my fiancée who got to go back with me. I felt very cared for both as a patient and as a human, especially with the financial situation as this was an emergency that insurance wouldn't have immediately covered. I would highly recommend RenovaSmiles in Woodbridge for anyone looking for a new dental care provider, whether it be for routine cleanings or emergency dental work.

Fantastic experience: The workers, dental assistant, and doctors were amazing. I had an emergency situation and needed a tooth extraction and they were able to take care of it with my first visit. I am so thankful because I don’t need to be in pain for days ahead. I drove far for this place because they did tooth extraction here and I’m thankful to the doctor who saw the tooth pain I endured and got me all fixed up with smiles. The environment inside is very clean, nice, and suitable. I enjoyed my visit.

Fantastic experience: This clinic was all around top tier! Although the facility is I little tight, it was beautifully decorated, clean, and had minimal noise. The team (Tsigue, Dr Doe, Jenika, and all of the front desk staff) represented RenovaSmiles very well by providing some of the most friendly and professional service I’ve ever had. Dr. Anderson restored my confidence in the process and I am elated to start the process of restoring my smile after dealing with hyper emisis gravidarium while pregnant with my son. He immediately understood and created a treatment plan for me. The entire staff was warm, welcoming, and pleasant. I’m so glad that I find them. ♥️

Negative experience: I had an appointment today and was shocked by how they handled my visit. I have Medicaid, which covers my dental cleanings with no co-pay, but they still tried to charge me $20 for a cleaning. Then they said my wife needed a deep cleaning and wanted $80 as a co-pay — again, not supposed to happen with Medicaid. When I said no and explained that Medicaid covers this, they suddenly removed the $80 charge after about 10 minutes. This made me feel like they were trying to take advantage of us or hoping we wouldn’t question the charges. It was uncomfortable, unprofessional, and very disappointing. I would not recommend this place to anyone on Medicaid or anyone who expects honest billing practices.

Fantastic experience: Went in for my 6 mon check up. Techs are all professional & friendly. Though ts a quick paced office, I've never felt rushed. The techs & assistants want to insure your comfort & speak to you through the procedures. Dr. Anderson always gives of his time in answering all your questions. He wants perfection in his work & makes certain your happy with the results. Oh and he won't be retiring soon!! He'll be my dentist for a long time.

Positive experience: inconsistent with service. first time the dentist assistant took her time and my teeth felt very clean afterwards. the second time it seemed rushed and the doctor came in halfway in the cleaning. no explanation on what was being done or how my teeth looked. no new information from what was being watched from the last appointment. she kept stoping to talk to someone or call for the doctor but there’s a tool in my mouth and I was scared she was going to cut my gums. only thing that was explained was the cancer screening I needed to do and then pay for it at the end of service.

Fantastic experience: I had an appointment at Renova Smiles for a build up and crown an upper left molar. There was a very old amalgam filling in the tooth which was cracked and leaking amalgam. The appointment wasn’t bad at all. I barely felt the Novocaine injection and as the dentist drilled out the very old filling I didn’t experience and discomfort or pain. They do very good work at this office. Working in the dental field for over 10 years, I know a good dentist and Renova has them. I recommend this office!

Negative experience: This review was Dec 2024 Juan. Thank you so much for assist me in with my husband implants treatment plan. We picked this office for a reason and we are glad we did. Again thank you all and special thank to Juan. Today 05/23/25 This whole journey of 9000$ implants (one implants inly) started in start of 2023 and thank god we had it finished 2 months ago with completing the crown that cover the implants so today I call the office bcz the crown is moving and causing pain (who told us if you have any problem with it to call them bcz as their website says the provide emergency services) this afternoon so they can tell me couple excuses: 1. Dr. Anderson who did your implants/crown works only Friday here in Woodbridge office and he’s bot here today!!!! 2. I asked of there’s any other dr to look at and he said oh we are closing in 40 min (I told him I can come to he office now bcz I’m on my way to you and should be at your office in 15 min) and he said no they can’t do limited exam. 3. I explained to him that they can’t see him for dental emergency and he said no sorry!!!!!!!!!! This office has zero professionalism. They change in the treatment plan every time you there and add extra charges until I went in and went through the payments I did and thank God there was Juan the office manager from different location there and matter of fact he discovered they didn’t send the right codes to my insurance and he end up fixing the whole billing/coding but after today I’m so done and I promise you I will call the BBB to report this kind of practice. (With all due respect to the good people in that office) Plus when you operate a business where people pay you $$$$$ to provide your service can you ensure your front staff at least trained on been 1.compassionate , respectful and professional with your customer bcz they are your frontline that shows how good or bad your business is !!!!! 2. Teach them that the customers are the one that keeping people like you have a job and paycheck!

Positive experience: I went to Renova for my second 6 month cleaning. I was pleased that I was taken right on time and everything was done, but in an odd sequence. The thing was, they added on an irrigation rinse and a fluoride treatment that were extra charges that they didn’t let me know about before performing them. An extra cost of $52, although they think the $32 fluoride treatment they can claim through insurance. Overall the visit was good and efficient. Was in and out in less than an hour.

Fantastic experience: I went to the Renova Smiles Woodbridge office on April 28,2025 to have my bi-annual teeth cleaning. What an amazing process they have from X-rays being taken, to the actual cleaning process through to the dentist exam. The team was personable yet thorough. This office by far is the best dental office I have ever been to.

Fantastic experience: If you are looking for a new hygienist Tsige at Renova Smiles did an excellent job with my cleaning. The staff is very pleasant and everyone seems to be happy all the time. Also, Dr. Anderson takes the time to listen to you and provides professional advice to your questions or concerns. I would recommend this place to anyone. Negative experience: Came in for a basic cleaning. Silly me—I thought that’s what dentists do. Instead, I got a 60-minute wait in the chair followed by a hard sell for a “deep cleaning” that magically costs way more and, surprise, no regular cleaning unless I agreed. Then came the grand finale: a $500 mouth guard sales pitch and a treatment plan I didn’t ask for. At this point, I wasn’t sure if I was at a dentist’s office or a timeshare seminar. If you enjoy being upsold, pressured, and wasting your time, this place is perfect. Otherwise, avoid at all costs.

Fantastic experience: I had an appointment for 12pm for a general exam and cleaning, I needed a root canal done. I had to leave by 2pm. The doctor was great, quick, and communicated well.

Negative experience: Choose other dental clinics for your own good: Dr. Kim was very unprofessional, she injected my numing medicine while talking to other people with full distraction, thus left me suffering pain, also their new intern for hygiene was so uncapable. Protect yourself!

Fantastic experience: I've been going here for about 8 years now. I love it everyone's so friendly. I've never had a long waiting time its always less than 5 minutes before they call you back. They don't try to make you get other work done. They suggest things to improve or help your dental hygiene if you decline they move on. They are very through with the teeth cleaning.

Negative experience: What a terrible experience. I went here in 2022 when I had medicaid and had an okay experience. Linn the dental hygienist, INSISTED I needed to purchase a $500 mouth guard due to mouth grinding, so I did. I decided to come back with my husband for a regular check up and cleaning today 4/11/25, which in itself, was one of the most difficult appts to set up. When I made the appointment, I did not have insurance information on hand, so I called back later the same day 4/8/25. The person I spoke with stated that he input everything and it was all good, so I thought we were fine. Then I received another phone call two days later on 4/10/25 at 11AM, stating that my insurance was inactive. I called back super confused, and cancelled the appointment to try and figure it out so that I wouldn't get charged a cancellation fee since it was 24 hours before the appointment. I called back because I verified that all of the information I provided was correct through my husband's employer and Delta Dental website. This time when I called back, I spoke with a different person, who then stayed on the phone with me, while she confirmed that she was able to find our insurance. So I thought we were good! Then a man from Occoquan kept calling us to try to get us to go to the office there, every single day. He left a voicemail to call back IF we wanted to be seen there, which we did not, as it is even further from our home. The morning of the appt at 930am I received ANOTHER phone call from Occoquan stating they didn't have my insurance. I was so confused because I thought this was settled. I called Occoquan back and spoke to the same man who kept leaving us voicemails. I told him they needed better communication between their offices and he stated "No you just don't answer your phones" - WTF?! I was upset and hung up on him and called the Woodbridge office to make sure our appt and insurance was still set for 11am. The person that answered stated they would call Occoquan to figure out what was going on. The miscommunication between RenovaSmile offices is unexceptable. Then the day of the actual appointment. We arrived 10 minutes early to get everything settled. I got called back to begin at 1105 and they took my husband back at 1115. The whole time my husband was sitting in the chair until 12pm, no one touched his teeth. All they did was take his X-rays. In the meantime, I was next to him and Linn, the same dental hygeinist, was trying to sell me more things again. This time, I knew better and told her that we would not be paying for any additional services that were not inclued in our insurance. Mind you, when she looked at my X-rays, she GASPED and screamed "OMG this is not good this is very bad" while looking at photos of my teeth. It was the most unprofessional behavior I have experencied in a doctor or dentists office. Turns out, she was gasping about my "build up" on my bottom teeth. When Dr Anderson came in, he said everything looked good, no cavities or anything, and told me I really needed to use my mouth guard every night. He did not GASP in horror at my teeth, or insist that I needed to buy ANOTHER mouth guard, as Linn was insisting. And shocker, the new mouthguard she wanted me to buy, was also almost $500 just like the one I purchased before. I only received a polishing and floss, but never received the regular cleaning that I scheduled (prophylaxis). I did not realize this until AFTER I left and spoke with Delta Dental. In the end, my husband was so upset that he sat in the chair for 45 minutes, and did not receive ANYTHING, that we decided to leave. He is an hourly employee, and took off work to go to this appointment. That is time and money that my family loses and doesn't get back. I will never recommend RenovaSmiles to anyone. They are literally robbing people. Linn will tell you that you need all of the things and is pushy and condescending. It is extremely unfortunate because we actually liked Dr Joshua Anderson and his bedside manner, but we will never return here again for the incompetencies that we experienced.

Negative experience: I had a disappointing experience here. On my first visit, despite having a scheduled appointment and arriving on time, I had to wait over an hour and a half to be seen. I was frustrated but waited anyway. They told me I would need to come back, so a second appointment was scheduled. I returned today, hoping for a better experience. I even mentioned that I was flexible with timing and just wanted to avoid another long wait. Unfortunately, after waiting a few minutes, I was told they wouldn’t be able to see me. My only options were to wait a long time again, reschedule, or come back another day. I just said I’d call back after thinking it over. I’m sure others may have had better experiences, but in my case, the lack of organization and respect for the patient’s time was very clear.

Fantastic experience: The hygienist, Rose, was very thorough. However the dentist who was supposed to examine my teeth after my cleaning, did absolutely nothing. I had to ask her if she was going to look at my teeth. She barely looked in my mouth and did not examine each tooth or check for cavities. Otherwise, the office is fine and the front staff are okay. The 5-Star rating is for Rose!

Fantastic experience: Great dentists, techs, and staff! I actually go to the dentist every six months now and enjoy my visit. I used to dislike dental appointments until I came to Renova. They have made a huge difference! My teeth have never been healthier. They are very professional, kind and gentle!

Positive experience: The dentist,and assistant were both very good,if not great. My only ( and possibly petty) complaint is the onset, and duration of pain after the procedure. Unfortunately I'm not new to root canal( this being the sixth) and never experienced pain before I'd gotten home, or bad enough that kept me awake through the night... But that's really on me. I should have demanded prescriptions for possible infection and pain relief. It has now been 24hrs since procedure, and the throbbing is finally subsiding

You are informed step by step on the procedure being performed. I recommend this office for all of your dental needs. You won’t regret it!

Negative experience: awful service The scheduling department has no clue what are doing they will overbook the customers on the top of each other and they ask you to come back as they don’t have the bandwidth! Disrespectfully treatment of customers time!

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience at RenovaSmiles. We have now scheduled the whole family to come here. The staff was welcoming and the office was clean and comfortable. Dr. Do was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything clearly, making sure we felt comfortable and informed throughout the visit. I truly appreciated the care and attention to detail. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a skilled and compassionate dentist.

Positive experience: It was a good experience. I will say the front office didn’t really greet me or say much to me when first coming into the building so I was definitely confused and sat a few minutes before getting checked in. But once back the appointment went pretty quick and all the information shared from the dentist was accurate and informative I had head before.

Negative experience: Be very careful who is your hygiene assistant! My routine assistant was very proficient, unfortunately, it was swapped by a new person Jessica, who was transferred from another location. She was always distracted, she didn't know what she was doing, she didn't turn on the sucking tube when I was going through cleaning, I almost choked the whole mouth of rinse water because of her remiss, make sure you do not select her for your own good!
