Negative experience: I've been a loyal patient at Costa Dentistry for years, and until my most recent visit, I've had consistently great experiences. Dr. Kim is truly exceptional—she's warm, professional, and takes the time to make you feel comfortable and cared for. During one appointment a couple of years ago, she even held my one month old son so that I could have my services done. Hannah, my hygienist, is always personable and kind during my cleanings. Both have made routine dental care feel easy and pleasant. I've even recommended Costa Dentistry to friends because I genuinely believed in the quality of care and professionalism they provided. Unfortunately, my latest visit left me frustrated and disappointed. I was charged nearly five times my usual amount for the same services I routinely receive twice a year. When I voiced my concerns at checkout, I encountered an unpleasant interaction with Rachel at the front desk. She was rude and dismissive, offering vague explanations about price increases and changes with my insurance coverage. She pointed to a $60 fluoride treatment—up from $24—which I had never previously been told was optional or that the price had changed. Again, no prior notification was provided—neither at check-in nor through any form of communication such as phone or email. Even during my appointment, Hannah never mentioned that the fluoride treatment came with an increased fee or that it was optional. In all my visits, the only question I’d ever been asked was which flavor I preferred, so this unexpected charge felt particularly misleading. After pressing Rachel for an explanation of my out-of-pocket charges, I was told that Aetna had been moved under a different umbrella, resulting in a new copay of around $55 for a periodontal cleaning. For additional context, my parents couldn’t afford to take me to the dentist growing up, and as a result, I developed a gum infection. This means I now require periodontal cleanings rather than basic routine cleanings. Again, this is no different than the routine services I’ve received for several years. I expected transparency, especially when nothing about my appointment had changed. Instead, I was blindsided by unexplained fees, and the way it was handled made me feel dismissed rather than helped. To compound the issue, Rachel told me I’d receive an email with a detailed receipt of my out-of-pocket expenses—but it was never sent. I explained that I simply cannot afford a visit like that twice a year, and when I asked about alternative options moving forward, I didn’t receive any constructive guidance or support. Overall, I feel taken advantage of and am left with a bitter taste in my mouth—no pun intended. I'm genuinely saddened by this experience and now weighing the difficult decision to switch practices. I hope Costa Dentistry takes feedback like this seriously and improves communication and professionalism at the front desk—because the care I’ve received from Dr. Kim and Hannah deserves better support behind the scenes.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Kim is a pro and cares for your smile like she does her own! She repeatedly went above and beyond to communicate with me and my orthodontist to meticulously fine tune the treatment plan and final cosmetic work. Plus her team is all very professional, kind and super accommodating to get appointments. Highly recommended her and this practice.

Negative experience: This office has a lot of bells and whistles but there is no transparency for new patients. We asked Costa Dental if we were covered by our dental insurance and my wife was told yes. They told my wife that if your card states "Connection Dental Network" then all their providers are in network. My wife got dental work done and I also received a cleaning. We paid a copay for my wife and I paid roughly 160 for cancer screening and floride. Those fees were paid that day. About a month later my wife received a bill from Costa dental. I also was informed that I had an outstanding balance. This was due to Costa Dental not being in our dental coverage network. Had we known we would have gone with another dental office that was in-network. I left a voice mail and spoke to the front desk about my issue but never received a response back. There was no transparency with this office. I remember filling out a survey my first time with Costa Dental and I mentioned "Transparency" was at the top of the list as being important. I dont think we should have to pay extra fees for dental work because we were told by Costa that they were in our dental network. Unethical and unprofessional.

Negative experience: I was extremely disappointed with our experience. My wife chipped her tooth, so we paid for x-rays and an initial evaluation. The dentist simply reviewed the images—without even examining the tooth herself—and immediately declared that she needed a full root canal (costing $2-3k) plus a crown ($2k). When we later showed the x-ray to our regular dentist, he pointed out that the root was clearly visible in the xray and perfectly healthy, there was no cavity, and the chip was just a prior restoration from years ago. We ended up opting for a simple restoration with our usual dentist even being so far away. I would caution others to steer clear of this practice if you’re looking for a careful and conservative approach to dental care. Update: love their response and not so subtle attempt ad discrediting this review “we were unable to find you or your wife in our system” , I never said my wife’s and don’t have a last name published here. That phrase wasn’t for my benefit, but shows you a little more they’re more interested in covering themselves than anything else.

Negative experience: The staff was very friendly however this is the reason i'm giving you a one star. I have worked for several Doctor's offices. When you have a new patient you get the insurance information to see if that offfice participates in your plan. I ask several times if you take cigna & they said yes. Before the appointment you have to fill out tons of paperwork and include the insurance information. I even asked again when I got there is this all covered by my insurance and the answer was yes. Fast forward a month later and I get a bill for $90.00. I called my insurance company and they informed me that this office is out of network. Had I known that I would never have come there. This office did not do their due diligence to run the insurance number and call me to say by the way, we are out of network do you still want to come to the office because I would have said no. I'm glad I didn't continue my services there. Your office is going to have to absorb that 90.00 because I'm not going to pay it Andrea

Fantastic experience: I have been into a number of dentistry offices and am pleased to rate Costa Dentistry as one of the most advanced, well managed and very well staffed facility. From the front office to the back office and the doctor’s office you will be in the impression that is is a well positioned office to provide services worthy of patients trust. To be more subjective, I have to personally give my best assesment to Vivian, my hygienist, a cool, composed, experienced, friendly and caring person. My trust on her makes me comfortable knowing that my dental care is in good hands. It is my hope that you thrive in your chosen field. Congratulations, for a job well done.

Fantastic experience: Never thought I'd enjoy a visit to the dentist but here we are. The office is very nice and bright and welcoming. The place is bougie as hell but in the best way. From comfy lounge chairs and a beverage bar in the waiting room to flat screens on the ceilings, Costa is no ordinary dentist's office. You've got massaging exam chairs, beautiful forest views, and a "comfort menu" of amenities to make chair time a positive experience. But there's more than just fancy Great Falls finery to be found here. My hygienist, Winnie, was very kind and gentle but more importantly she was detailed and thorough. She explained and went over everything as it was happening. In the name of transparency, I was shown a detailed invoice and Winnie went over what each item was and what my portion of the cost would be. All in all, Costa Dentistry is doing all the right things and I can see why they're so highly regarded. I have another appointment next month and oddly enough, I think I'm looking forward to it.

Negative experience: ETA: It's also interesting to see that most of the 1-star reviews are related to how they handle billing and related communication. I only wish I had seen those reviews before going to this practice. Several communication issues have cost me money. I got an unexpected bill 3 months later because they were out of network "for a short time" without telling me and my insurance wouldn't cover as much as they quoted me. I had to ask several times why there was an extra bill before they would admit their mistake. I was at the practice less than 2 years. Other issues include using fluoride without asking or checking that my insurance would cover it (insurance did not cover it). After the first time that I had to pay extra, I had to remind them several times to not use fluoride at later appts because the staff in the back didn't know. When I was pregnant, I told the front desk when I checked in. Apparently, they never told the back staff because I had to keep reminding people throughout the visit, even though that can affect what they can and can't do at the visit. A different time, I had to talk to several people before they would agree to not use local anesthetic that I didn't want and would not be covered by insurance. It was also weird that they seperately told both me and my husband at our first visits after we moved here that we each needed orthodontic work. We're in our mid-30s, go to the dentist every 6 months, and have never been told that by a dentist. Conveniently, they had a special going on with a nearby orthodontic practice at the time?

Fantastic experience: Dr. Vasa is so kind and gentle. I am not used to having a dentist that walks in, makes eye contact, sits down, and asks how I feel and what can she help me with. She completely changed my perception of what type of service I should expect from a Dentist. Her treatment plan was reasonable and my return dental work was quick, affordable, and completed with no issues.

She made sure to keep me informed throughout my visit about everything she was doing. I really appreciate Leah. Dr. Vasa was very thorough in explaining the proposed treatment plan. She made sure I understand everything that was being explained. My Admin Personnel Rachel was very welcoming. She went over the billing process and ensured I understand the cost associated for the proposed treatment plan. Fantastic experience: I have unbelievably sensitive gums and all the things that cause dread when going to the dentist. I finally found a great practice who puts me at ease, informs me of my options and makes the visit to the dentist no big deal. Negative experience: Don't get scammed!! I called several weeks ago and made an appointment with Dr. Aleid as my insurance said 2 of the dentists here were covered and the other wasn't available. Recently I went online to double check coverage and didn't see the dentist listed so I contacted the office. They confirmed they were in-network so I went to the appointment. After the appointment they informed me my insurance was only 75% covered and I had a co-pay of $117. This should have been addressed before any service was performed. I can go to other offices for free, why would I choose this dentist if I thought it would cost me? I also was lured in with their gift card offer and was told I couldn't get it because I would not be returning for another checkup and that apparently this is a stipulation of the gift card offer. Again, they already got me and my money now they want to change the deal. I'm absolutely blown away by how rude the front desk employee was and this sketchy behavior. If you want to bring in new clients this is not how you go about it. I should also note I was not seen by the doctor I scheduled with - I was seen by a Dr. Vasa I think her name was. I was not told there would be a change in doctor either. This seems sketchy as well. For all the trouble they didn't even give me a free toothbrush like every other dentist office I have ever been to!

Fantastic experience: New Patient to Costa Dentistry! From the moment I walked in the doors I was very impressed with the atmosphere. It was time to care for my teeth again. My dental hygienist was fabulous. Paula took her time to explain how the Costa practice worked; every step she was going to take for this visit; have thorough instructions for better brushing/flossing. Dr. Jean Kim was so pleasant and compassionate about making sure I understood some issues I had and gave a referral for an evaluation. If you’re searching for a practice I HIGHLY recommend Costa Dentistry.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this practice! I used to have such anxiety when going to the dentist and I had an amazing experience at Dr. Costa Dentistry in Falls Church, VA! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how gorgeous and modern the office is—clean, bright, and welcoming. There is so much thought that went into elevating the experience for patients. The entire staff was also incredibly friendly and professional, making me feel comfortable throughout my visit. I came in to start my Invisalign treatment, and I couldn’t be happier with how smooth the process was. Dr. Costa took the time to explain everything in detail, ensuring I understood my treatment plan. The precision and care they put into fitting my aligners were top-notch! One of the best parts? They’re currently running an Invisalign special where you can save $1,400—such a great deal for anyone considering straightening their teeth! If you’re thinking about Invisalign or just looking for a fantastic dentist in the area, I highly recommend Dr. Costa Dentistry.

Negative experience: Terrible service. The billing is not transparent. When I brought up an issue that I was misinformed, the unapologetic personnel first blamed it on whoever was working there during my visit, later told me in so many words that " it is my problem and I should have checked" and hung up. Yes I should have checked but it is also on you to be clear up front and say " We do not accept this insurance" or " We are out of network". How hard is that ? A clean office does not compensate for bad attitude. I cannot trust this place anymore.

Positive experience: Have been with Dr Browning and my husband with Dr Costa for 3 years now. I've been happy with my routine care and have kept my dental insurance just so I can still go to this office. I'm in and out and even fillings aren't a big deal. I have been going to this practice for eight years now and I see Dr. Kim. She’s very good at spotting issues and addressing them. I felt my procedure went well with minimal discomfort. The staff is very friendly! Down one star, not happy with charging to use a credit card…

Fantastic experience: Best visit. I usually dread going to dentist but they made sure I was comfortable and at ease. Went back today and had another great visit. Love the staff. Seeing Suzanne was like seeing an old friend. She made me feel comfortable and excited for my glo treatment.

Negative experience: My wife was a loyal customer of Costa Dentistry, spending over $10,000+ on dental treatments , expecting quality care and transparency. However, our experience was nothing short of frustrating, humiliating, and unethical. Overcharging & Misleading Billing – I was charged extra for a crown, with the excuse that it was a "Hi-Tech Zirconium" that my insurance wouldn’t cover. Additionally, they billed me separately for a temporary crown, again claiming insurance wouldn’t cover it. This felt like a deliberate way to overcharge patients. Refusal to Submit to Second Insurance – Despite having a secondary insurance plan, they refused to submit the claim, making me pay out of pocket for charges that should have been covered. This is completely unacceptable and shows a lack of customer care. Unprofessional & Rude Behavior – The manager, Denise, was shockingly rude and insulting—in front of other customers! Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, she dismissed me in a condescending manner, making the entire experience humiliating and uncomfortable. Sent to Collections Without Providing Service – To make matters worse, they sent me to collections for a service I never even received. This is an outright unethical and predatory business practice. This is no way to treat a long-time, paying customer. I regret trusting Costa Dentistry, and I strongly advise others to be cautious, demand full cost transparency, and be prepared for unprofessional treatment. Their lack of integrity, disrespect, and shady billing practices are unacceptable. Avoid this place if you value honesty, professionalism, and respect!

Fantastic experience: The office was extremely clean and organized. I love their values of ensuring what your priorities are as a new patient. It was very welcoming and I felt I would have great care. My hygienist was very thorough in explaining what her recommendations were around my treatment. Very solid dentist, and super happy with my choice in visiting.

Fantastic experience: I had Bioclear done in September with Dr. Bhangra and was really happy with the results. Unfortunately, two months later, I noticed a chip in my front tooth. I reached out to the office, and they informed me that Dr. Bhangra was no longer with the practice. However, Dr. Kim reviewed my case and got back to me promptly. I was able to schedule an appointment, and Dr. Kim fixed the chip while thoroughly explaining why it happened. She also provided helpful suggestions to ensure the results last as long as possible. Her approach was conservative and thoughtful—she was hopeful we wouldn’t need to shorten the teeth further but encouraged me to reach out if necessary. The fix was done at no additional cost. Thank you, Dr. Kim, for your excellent care!

The dentist was thorough, professional, and took the time to explain everything. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a friendly and attentive dental practice. Plus they have comfort items too :)

Fantastic experience: The whole team is very professional and caring! Recently I found out that they are eager to give back to the community: the owners hold annual event to help those that don't yet have dental insurance by providing free services (cleaning, filling, extraction). I took mom of my friend to this event and was impressed by how many adults and kids they have help free of charge in one day! It was very well organized, staff was respectful, accommodating and did their work very well! I definitely would recommend this place!

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with the way this office has handled my billing. Nine months after my treatment, without any prior communication, you emailed my spouse claiming there’s an outstanding balance and threatened to send it to collections if it isn’t paid. This was a complete surprise, as I was told at the time of service that everything was paid in full. After the treatment, I paid $1,700 out-of-pocket following the insurance coverage, under the impression that this settled everything. Now, months later, you claim there’s still a balance, which was never communicated to me until this sudden threat of collections. When I reached out to negotiate, I agreed to pay $200 as a goodwill gesture, even though this was unexpected. Despite this, you informed me that no negotiation would be accepted, and I’m required to pay the full balance. This is unacceptable. Before proceeding with the treatment, I explicitly asked your office if the insurance would cover the cost in full. You assured me it would. Had I known that insurance would max out, I would never have agreed to the treatment and could have explored other, more affordable options. Your office failed to provide this crucial information and is now shifting the responsibility to me, hiding behind a clause that was never clearly explained. This experience has been nothing short of frustrating, and your lack of transparency and communication feels deceptive. Patients rely on accurate information to make informed decisions about their care, and your failure to provide that has left me feeling misled. After paying $1,700 out-of-pocket, the way this has been handled has caused unnecessary stress and financial strain. I will not hesitate to share my experience with others.

Fantastic experience: Love coming to costa dentistry. They make sure you are comfortable and whole experience is good. Vivian really helped make sure that I was comfortable during the cleaning applied a numbing gel and showed me the before and after pics. Overall best dentist I have been too and would highly recommend !

Update: I recently had a chipped tooth repaired at Costa Dentistry and was extremely pleased at the results. Dr, Aleid and Susanna took great care of me and quickly made the repairs I needed. Fantastic experience: Had a really positive first experience with Dr. Aleid and Susanna Carter (dental assistant) at Costa Dentistry in Ashburn. I had several teeth they needed to work on and they made me feel at ease and the process was smooth. Their entire office is very nice, professional and just really well run.

Fantastic experience: What is there not to like about the Costa experience? Friendly staff, beautiful office and a warm welcome. Dr. Kim is my dentist and she is great. Now I knew that I would get bad news and that is where I found the difference with her care - empathy - she not only gives you concise information but blankets them in concern and understanding of your feelings. My choices of treatments were given not in clinical terms but in easy to understand frames. I felt safe and comfortable - not an usual description for a dentist visit

Negative experience: Progressively going downhill from the poor customer service at the front desk to being told that my child’s teeth could not and were not adequately monitored due to braces, resulting in a root canal and being referred out to a specialist (I thought that’s what X-rays were for). There is a consistent lack of communication from the Dentist with regard to discussing treatment, on one occasion the Dentist departed the office without even taking time to discuss follow up care she recommended for my child. The front desk staff announces copays and insurance information in an open waiting room with no regard of privacy, traditionally this information is provided prior to booking appointments or days before vs at the time of appointment, at which point it feels like an ultimatum. Costa was not like this when we started. Beware!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Bhangra is by far the best dentist I have ever worked with! She has an amazing bedside manner, is so meticulous, and really does amazing work. I have had her work on my front teeth with bonding and they look perfect! She is one of kind dentist, and so gentle and listens to what the patient wants and needs. I would give her 10 stars if I could! Recommend her over and over again!!!

Fantastic experience: My son recommended this place to me, so we made appointments and traveled in from Florida. The office was very clean and more spa like than dentist office like. I have been in some real dentist dungeons and this is definitely not that. I indicated that I hadn’t been to a dentist in 10 years and they asked me questions like do I want lots of details about what they are doing or just the summary which I found really nice. When the technician was doing the scaling. I said it felt like I had popcorn kernels on the back of my teeth. She asked where and spent the time to get everything smoothed out. The technician had a very kind demeanor and was very accommodating even though I was a bit gruff at times. Highly recommend, they handled everything beautifully.
