Negative experience: I am extremely frustrated. I saw the dentist there in July. It felt like a multi level marketing scam the way they keep switching the people in and out the room to pressure you into a big sale. I knew my tooth needed work, so I decided to go ahead and pay for a root canal. They offered to do a payment plan, which I thought would make it easier, but it made everything worse. They took my first payment of $180 on the spot through Cherry Financial. I went to work. An hour later, they call saying my insurance wouldn't cover it, as they originally told me during their sales pitch. They said my insurance said I applied late this year, but I applied the first day of open enrollment. They said I could pay cash ($5,000) and they would give me a discount. I asked them to cancel everything because I was getting a scam vibe at this point. She said she canceled my payment of $180 and it wouldn't go through, no worries. It went through. I called and left messages with their office and I called Cherry Financial who said they had to return it. The run around. I left another message. No one has returned my calls. Today I get a text from Cherry Financial that my $180 payment will be processed tomorrow. The payments that were supposed to be canceled an hour after it was set uup.I never received any services that were part of this payment plan. They are charging me for a procedure that never happened. I was warned this place was all about the money and now I believe it. If you are reading this, someone needs to call me back and fix this as soon as possible. I am really disappointed in this dental office and would never recommend their services to anyone.

Fantastic experience: It’s now August and Village Dental At Olde Raleigh has replaced 12 teeth and added 12 porcelain crowns and 8 more teeth are ready for new crowns in about two weeks. I would like to commend Dr Martin and her entire staff for a job well done. My teeth were worn down by grinding my teeth at night and due to work stress. My new bite is fantastic and I am thankful that my wife found Dr Martin’s Cris and Mya. The first treatment was done with a pill and gas. The second treatment was with gas only due to me having to drive. It’s been a great experience and I love my new teeth. From the time I entered the office I was in the right place for my dental work. The front office was in tune with administration work and again made feel that I was in the right place. They then took me back to the examination room where they took X-ray’s and went through the various procedures. I highly recommend Village Dental for all your dental needs!!!

Negative experience: They tried to sell me over 4 thousand dollars of work saying I had over 8 cavities on 4 of my teeth when I didn’t even come in for tooth pain and they claimed that’s why my teeth hurt so much, I didn’t feel a single thing??? I went to my old dentist who fell out of my network the next week and who had told me a year prior I had no cavities no nothing, that I still didn’t have anything. I also had my aunt who’s a dentist herself look at my teeth and claimed there was nothing wrong and I just had gum inflammation that was minimal

Fantastic experience: We have been with Dr Martin and Village Dental for about 20 years. We have never had anything but stellar service. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Equipment is state of the art and it is truly painless treatment. I no longer dread a dental appointment. Bethany did my cleaning and also instructed me on the "Go-between cleaners " to reach the back molars. Nathan was the first one that took me "my chair". He did my X-rays and cheerfully answered my many questions. Also kudos to front desk. I didn't catch their names.

Fantastic experience: Always a great experience the dentist and the assistant were both open to helping me understand my teeth more in areas I felt like I was failing. My hygienist was Bethany and the assistant's name is Donshe. At Village Dental - Olde Raleigh. Donshe was very informative as well as Bethany. Donshe knew so much as the assistant and was very helpful with all concerns I had. I appreciate how knowledgeable, caring and honest she was. It was my first time going to Donshe and she is a blessing to the company. If I wouldn't have been a Dr.Wheeler client, I would want to come to Donshe and Bethany more. Keep up the great work ladies.

Positive experience: My dental visit was a great experience. Everything going on with my teeth was explained clearly in layman's terms. I was given several options regarding how to move forward. What is most impressive is that I was not pressured with a warning that I should have additional work done immediately.

Negative experience: Shalon did explain some of the things that will be happening during my procedure but she was not sensitive to the fact that she was hurting me while cleaning my teeth and I had to stop the service before she completed my dental cleaning. She was not very friendly and I’ve never had that experience at this facility before. All of my experiences have been pleasant except for today.
Fantastic experience: New patient alert: My appointment and experience at Village Dental Olde -Raleigh was amazing. The office was modern, clean, and very cozy. My new patient consultation was very thorough and enjoyable. My dental assistant Alexus was amazing. Alexus was kind, gentle, knowledgeable, and very professional. I could tell that Alexus enjoys her job. Dr. Foley… You are the best! ❤️ I appreciate your professionalism and caring spirit. Thank you for taking the time to examine and clean my teeth. Negative experience: When I first moved to NC I needed a dentist. It was blatantly obvious they were upselling dental work and using scare tactics on people. I believe they handed me a dental work plan that was like $10,000. I went elsewhere and got everything done for like $2000 and 8 years later I'm totally fine.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to this particular dentist office for 2 years and the staff is totally awesome. Carmen has cleaned my teeth a couple of times and she is so sweet and pleasant and I appreciate this. On 07/14/16, I came in for my appointment, and Tia, who was working at the front desk greeted me so politely. I enjoy being in an environment where you feel welcome and this is what the staff at Village Dental provides. I really appreciate Dr Wheeler who performed a tooth extraction on me. Haley and Essence were very kind to me. I love this team. On 06/02/25, I met the young lady who go by the name, Lonnie, and she was so kind while cleaning my teeth. She was very polite and I enjoyed her conversation.
Fantastic experience: Although took us much longer to get in the room, we were grateful to have a same day appointment versus having to wait over a week for severe pain. Very friendly staff.
Positive experience: The staff was nice but my consultations and billing questions still had me thinking I shouldn't have done the procedure required. I felt a little pressured. I was not expecting this cost. I had options but clearly felt not financially ready for the out of pocket expense. Not to mention the procedure was painful and still feel the effects after 10 days. I don't know if this was the right thing to do.
Negative experience: It has been several years since I have my last appointment at Village Dental. I have now moved to Chicago, IL and felt compelled to write a review after I visited my new dentist today in the city. During my last visit at Village Dental, I was told I needed several cavities filled and that they would be willing to fill them day of, if I was interested. I hadn't had a cavity in my adult teeth ever, so I decided to pass on getting them filled. I eventually went to a new dentist in the triangle area where they said I had no signs of cavities in any of my teeth. Again, after my visit at my new dentist in Chicago, IL, I was told I had no signs of cavities. My experience with Village Dental has not sat right with me for a while, so I decided to share my review. If you do visit this location, please be sure to get a second opinion prior to going through with any major procedures.

Fantastic experience: This care team was incredible. I went in for pain in a tooth and saw that i needed to have 3 extracted. They were able to work me in same day. Care was excellent and after having 3 extractions I am pain free in that area for the first time in months. Can not recommend enough.
Negative experience: I wish I would have done more research into how predatory this office really is. At the time of getting this work done I had gone In because they advertised a free cleaning and x rays. (Extremely false advertising) I was a BROKE college student at the time and was just trying to take care of routine dental health. I was sold on $2000 worth of work that I’m now not too sure I even needed done. But they practically scared me into getting it done. Let me also say I have great dental insurance which I’m now questioning if they even billed my insurance or just charged me out of pocket? They pressured me into applying for the care credit card which I was shockingly approved for to pay to get the work done. I fell behind on my monthly payments with care credit and the account got closed. Being that I was 19 years old at the time, I knew literally nothing about credit cards. Now I’m in a horrible place 2 years later with my credit unable to get approved for any loans on my own all thanks to village dental absolutely screwing me and preying on a young scared college student. My advice, do your research and get multiple opinions before you let a dentist sell you on thousands of dollars worth of work. This office is definitely shady and predatory, and it’s so sad the amount of reviews from people In this exact situation.
Negative experience: Bring your wallet and check your bill every time! This practice is trained to fleece you at every turn —- quickly adding in services without a care even when you remind them you are cash pay— they gloss over it unless you pause and ask for a quote. At first they refused to do my kids cleaning without an Xray (they are 9 and 10) and don’t need X-rays every visit. And then once quoted an X-ray they returned and said oh it’s going to be more than that because now it needs to be a full exam, plus the X-ray. Super unfriendly to the basic needs of a cost conscious consumer. If you have dental insurance and just don’t care — probably fine but if you are cash pay or have low coverage - BEWARE. I have been tolerating billing issues (errors all the time) with this practice for several years because the staff (most of them) are friendly but today was the last straw. Last visit!
Negative experience: Not a great experience. I scheduled my appointment a month ahead and received multiple messages asking to confirm. I replied to an email thinking that I had confirmed it but I guess that was not enough. On the day of the appointment another text came up saying “you have an appointment on 4/22/25 @ 10:00 am. Showed up and they couldn’t find it. Someone then looked and said “we tried to call but didn’t get a response” (I replied to the email and text messages and no record of any missed calls or messages from them) I then proceeded to fill up the new patient paperwork which they sent the day of the visit a few minutes before I got there. I sat and waited, 30 minutes passed and was told “it will be another 15 minutes” and it was 10:55 when I decided to leave. We as patients are asked to arrive on time and confirm the appointment or else we get charged a fee but they did not respected my time. I was hesitant about it from the beginning due to the constant calls and messages from them almost daily to “schedule” but it was pointless. I will not come back and hope not to see any bills as I will not pay for any “short notice cancellation fee” this was a waste of time.
Fantastic experience: I had a long and difficult procedure yesterday. Dr. Chong was very careful and was ably assisted by Aubrey. They kept me informed every step of the way and were sensitive to my needs. I have very little pain this morning even though there was potential for gum trauma. Yay! Well done, thank's guys!
Fantastic experience: Woooo . I have to give them the Rick Flair and Charlotte Flair anthem . The team of dentists , staff and experts was so awesome . This was my first time there , and they listened and talked me through ( step by step ) every single detail about my journey to recovery , and healthy start . Fantastic experience: Everyone was so kind, so sweet, especially Summer & Bethany… everything about my procedure was clearly explained, and I felt comfortable and cared for from beginning to end. A clean, welcoming, and extremely efficient operation. I had a dental emergency last week, and was having trouble scheduling on the website, so I went to the physical location, and Laura, the exceptionally kind and friendly lady at reception, scheduled me for the next day. During my appointment, Allandra and Dr. Foley took care of me with the utmost efficiency and compassion--in addition to their obvious expertise, they exude sweetness and light. Finally, Stephanie not only clearly and carefully discussed my further treatment options, but she had already figured out what insurance would cover. This place is not only thoroughly proficient, but they really, really care about how you feel. Highly recommended!

Although my routine cleaning and examination were scheduled for 11:20 AM, I arrived an hour early. Negative experience: I went today for a cleaning/checkup as a new patient. Safe to say I will not be coming back here. I haven’t been to the dentist in almost two years because I didn’t have good insurance, but I figured it was time to get a cleaning. Online they advertised having free x-rays, and they were able to get me in the week after I called. At all the other dentists I’ve been to, I have never had a fluoride treatment put on my teeth BEFORE a cleaning. Also the fluoride treatment was put on my teeth by the x-ray technician/assistant not by a hygienist. However, even the hygienist didn’t do a great job either. The assistant told her that I had sensitive gums before she cleaned my teeth, but she was very rough and just kept telling me to relax my lip when clearly I wasn’t comfortable. Throughout the cleaning she was spraying water all over me and overall it seemed very rushed. Also I forgot to mention that the assistant was giving me dental advice and showing me my teeth pictures/x-rays on a TV while using an AI program to show me my “cavities.” When the dentist talked to me she told me I had 5 cavities that needed to be filled and 4 more they had to “keep an eye on.” I am looking into getting dental insurance and will be getting a second opinion. I have no tooth pain and I brush and floss regularly. I have read other reviews on yelp and Reddit with many people that had the same experience as me or worse, and I’m very suspicious of the 4.7 star review that village dental has on google. Do not waste your time here they try to sell you more than you need.

Fantastic experience: I've been traveling from Huntersville to Raleigh for dentistry for almost a year. I have the most horrible gag reflex ever known along with dental anxiety. Dr. Wheeler! Dr. Wheeler accepted the challenge...and won. Never have I ever let anyone CLOSE to my mouth without being sedated (including my previous 3 visits with her). Last Thursday, she completed 45 minutes worth of work with absolutely NO sedation! She is AMAZING! And yes, I will be following her to her next location. Take a bow Dr. Wheeler, you EARNED it.
Fantastic experience: I was seen by dr Mire and her assistant Alice. The experience was good.Based on the bad reviews I saw before I came to my appointment, I was prepared myself being pushed on some treatments that I wasn’t really needed , or they would exaggerate my problem , or the price is really high. However it turns out not what I thought . The price is very reasonable, the first appointment is free comprehensive teeth exam. Alice did a really great Job on explaining everything to me. The membership plan only cost $244 which includes two teeth clean and two exams, other treatment is 20% off. I have been shopping around . some places don’t provide membership plan , single comprehensive exam will just cost around $300, and filling cost $350 to $550 per tooth depends on how many layers you want . Those do offer membership plan are about 300 to 500 will offer similar benefits. I made another appointment for my teeth clean, if the experience is good and I will definitely recommend my husband to get one too.

Fantastic experience: This group (& they truly collaborate among Docs/Hygienists & Tech's) is very professional, they are quite through especially 1st visit. It takes a couple of hours but they ask lots of pertinent questions to make sure the path forward is made for each individual....that's so rare. For me I have a 1-3 yr plan. I'm so glad my BFF recommended them to me!!! Oh did I mention they are so nice & easy going & funny. Negative experience: After 16 years as a patient at Village Dental, I was extremely disappointed with my recent experience. During a routine cleaning, the polishing technician suddenly informed me I needed a deep clean. This was never mentioned in any prior communications or during my last appointment, where I was told my dental health was excellent. The technician then told me Dr. Wheeler would be in to check my teeth, followed by the hygienist for my deep clean. Dr. Wheeler questioned the technician about the cleaning, and they left for 20 minutes before returning with the hygienist. Only then did the hygienist measure my gum tissue, finding several areas with a depth of 5. She then tried to explain the supposed need for the deep clean but couldn't account for why it was never discussed previously. The combined pressure from the hygienist, technician, and front desk felt like a high-pressure sales pitch. Despite my reservations, I scheduled the two required deep clean appointments. Seeking a second opinion, I visited another dentist who recommended only a standard cleaning, waterpik use, some minor cleaning under the gum line, and flossing. They also measured my gum tissue, finding only one area of 4, with the rest at 2-3. This was a stark contrast to Village Dental's recommendation. This experience has prompted me to advise other Village Dental patients: if you have any doubts about their recommendations, absolutely seek a second opinion. I'm incredibly disappointed and concerned that they were prepared to perform and charge me $440 out-of-pocket for a service I didn't need. My experience was truly awful.
Negative experience: I am giving Village Dental in Raleigh a 1-star rating due to their exorbitantly high prices. During my recent visit, I had fluoride applied to my teeth, I was charged over $70 for this service. Although I was aware that my insurance wouldn't cover it, I went ahead with the procedure, trusting that the cost would be reasonable. However, after conducting further research, I discovered that the average price for fluoride application typically ranges from $25 to $50. Furthermore, Village Dental's overall prices are nearly double those of most dental practices in the area. This level of pricing feels nothing short of highway robbery. I would not recommend Village Dental to anyone unless you're prepared to overpay significantly for their services.

Fantastic experience: I love Dr Yu and Angela the practice manager ! They are so wonderful and caring ! The dental assistant was awesome as well ! I’m so embarrassed that I can’t remember her name, but she was great! Very reassuring! The dentist is my least favorite place, but I felt calm and reassured the whole time with these three ladies !
Negative experience: What a disappointment! I called, made an appointment, gave my insurance card to the scheduler, and asked if my insurance was in-network, and she confirmed yes. I then scheduled my appointment. I went in for my appointment, checked in, and went on to see the dentist and hygienist. After my appointment, I was informed that I needed to pay half as is their custom; I was a bit taken back but didn't think anything of it. Last month, I received my EOB. Lo and behold, they are out of network. I called the office, and they confirmed they are out of network. Why is it OK to lie to patients and take money from them? I am very infuriated; I spent money that I was not supposed to pay because of a dental office that cannot be truthful to their patients. You had better believe I will let everyone know I never step foot in your offices. This is not OK, and this is not how to treat patients.

Negative experience: I’ve been going to this dental office for years. I was taken aback when I was informed on last Tuesday (Jan 7) that my appointment for the following Tuesday (Jan 14) was moved 3 hours since I had not “confirmed” the day before. I understand if you have policies that you want patients to confirm texts within a certain window, but mention that. I would have appreciated a little more consideration. They called me to confirm, but then told me my appointment had a new time. Im not sure why it was assumed I would have cleared a whole day on my calendar for a routine cleaning. I just decided to cancel and move on.
Fantastic experience: Great staff, short wait time and excellent (meaning no pain) work today...I've been a patient of Doc Martin for 30 years and I've been recommending his practice since day 1....he started with 1 small office off Edwards Mill Road in Raleigh and now he runs 4 offices...great guy....do yourself a favor and go to the best....
Fantastic experience: It was my first visit at Village Dental. I had a crown come off. Front desk staff me with insurance issues.Hailey brought me to the back, listened to what happened, and put me at ease on what they would do to help cement it back in place. She took x-rays, assisted dentist putting crown in, discussed my bill and set up my next appointment. She did all with a friendly attitude and made sure I had no questions about anything they did today. She was awesome. Very helpful and friendly staff all around.
Fantastic experience: I absolutely LOVED this place. Everyone I spoke with was incredibly professional and kind. They made me super comfortable and were very helpful when explaining billing and need to know information. They made sure I was comfortable and even provided headphones and music while I was getting my cleaning and filling done. I 1000% recommend this place! They were all amazing!

Fantastic experience: I had an extraction and a root canal yesterday December 2nd it was a lengthy process but you know they did it what I thought to be a great job and so I'm satisfied with the work that y'all did.
Negative experience: Worst experience ever in dealing with insurance claim since February. Finally resolved after I did all the work and was told multiple stories along the way. Lady that handles claims always too busy to even talk to me. Very inefficient office with having to see multiple people just to get teeth cleaned. Always seemed to find something they want to work on and then charged me for something I did not receive. Not sure if that is standard practice but bottom line I don’t trust these people.

Negative experience: Money-grabbing hacks. Refurbished equipment even though the office is new. I told them twice on the phone that I only want to do a dental cleaning. Arrived and suddenly it’s “we have to take x-rays.” Wasted my time, childcare I had arranged, etc. Had to walk out because I already have a dentist at home & didn’t need the extra x-ray radiation, just wanted to get my teeth cleaned while visiting family over the holidays because I’m a new mom and don’t have much time at home. Now they have all my medical info for no reason and will undoubtedly flood my family here with ads and calls. Well, if they so much as BREATHE trying to charge me a cancellation fee for the appointment they mucked up themselves, I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau and every possible medical authority for trying to pressure me to take x-rays when I might be pregnant.

Fantastic experience: I went with a concern about an area in my gum that had been sore for several days and had started bleeding and bled overnight. I called for an appointment and was told they would try to fit me in this afternoon but I might have to wait a while. Tweet minutes after arriving I was rushed to a room and the tech who saw me examined the spot, took X-rays and consulted with a doctor who examined the place and concluded that I had an irritated gum. He gave me some advice about treating it at and sent me on my way. Less than an hour! Greeted well and treated well!
Positive experience: Normally give them 5 stars but today they had asked if I could come on at 3:10 instead of 3:40 so I did. I waited until nearly 3:40 before they took me back. Said they only had one hygienist and one dentist today. Rushed through my cleaning and, for the first time ever, I saw no dentist.

Fantastic experience: My son and I visited this office today, and man, you never know what to expect when going to a dentist. We drove 54 minutes just off of the google reviews and they live up to it all!!Joy and Natalie were amazing!!!They helped calm my anxiety that was brewing from the costs of all the work that my son and I need done. They are so friendly and super helpful. Angels, I should say. Positive experience: The last two times i’ve gone for cleanings they just seem to be short staff when it comes to hygienist’s specifically and today I found out that they only have 1 Tues-Thurs! Stephanie and Bethany are great at what they do. But today I needed to wait about half an hour for Bethany to clean my teeth and it shouldn’t be like that. She should be able to clean my teeth on time since I schedule my appts 6 months in advanced. If that time isn’t going to be honored, why make an appt? Everyone who works here is extremely nice and does a great job at their job, they just seem sort staffed and have been for about a whole year now as this wasn’t my first experiencing needing to wait. Writing this review specifically for management higher up so yall can make the right decision and hire some more hygienists so it’s also just not on one person’s shoulders!!

Negative experience: Having recently moved, I gave Village Dental a try because it is in a convenient location for me. I was surprised to receive a very length "treatment plan" for a variety of work, being that I didn't have any issues with my teeth and my last dental appointment before the move went smoothly. I got a second opinion at a dentist that is further away but well-known to my family. The second dentist was professional and gracious and described the "treatment plan" as "extremely proactive". The dental staff were not as forgiving and mentioned being specifically aware of Village Dental as trying to sell services and procedures that are frankly not necessary. The staff at Village Dental are friendly and courteous, so nothing against them (and the reason I gave two stars instead of one), but it sure feels like there is pressure from above and among the dentists to sell as much as possible, even when the need is questionable. My experience was about a year ago, and having not gotten any of their suggested work done (now a patient at the second-opinion dentist where I've gotten cleanings), my teeth are healthy and comfortable with no problems whatsoever, so I believe that somewhat speaks for itself. If you check other reviews here and on Yelp you will see that I am not alone in feeling this way.
Fantastic experience: Very amazing and helpful staff. I’m terrified of going to the dentist but upon my first exam they explained so much and made me feel very comfortable! Today I had a tooth extracted and I barely even remember what happened! They took very good care of me and made sure that I was handled with care! I love this dentist office, I wouldn’t change a single thing and I will continue to go back!

Fantastic experience: New patients beware. I'm giving 5 stars not to Village Dental, but to the accurate 1-star reviews. Most of what I want to say about this place has been written there. I've given them multiple second chances, but when I recently got a second opinion from another dentist, I found that I didn't have a cavity, need a crown or a root canal. (This type of thing has happened more than once with them) I was with them for a very long time, and they clearly care more about money than their long-time customers. How much money have I paid for needless work over the years? Also, instead of polishing your teeth, they just brush them, WTH are we paying for? When I called to tell them I was leaving, they didn't ask why or care. That should tell you everything. Zero Stars.

Fantastic experience: Village Dental is ABSOLUTELY the best around in cosmetic dental sedation. The results that I got are life changing and I love the care that I get from all the staff members. Highly recommend that you go check them out and experience it for yourself.
Negative experience: Very disappointed. Decided to try out Village Dental because I stopped working in downtown Raleigh, where my previous dentist was located. When I booked the appointment the employee told me on the phone that the first cleaning for a new patient is always free. On top of that, I have dental insurance that has ALWAYS covered my cleanings at my previous dentist (which were more thorough than this one). I go to meet with the girl in the private room who tells me the prices of everything that is “wrong” with my teeth (to the tune of over 1k out of pocket), and she says the dentist did a “mod cleaning” which is a step up from the free cleaning and is charging me $42. As mentioned, I’ve never had to pay for the first cleaning in a year with my previous dentist. I can already tell this office is money hungry and dishonest, and I will make the drive to downtown Raleigh to continue being a patient at a dentists office I trust.
Fantastic experience: Dr Wheeler and staff were extremely patient and professional and took their time to explain options and different procedures. They were all very kind and gentle. I would highly recommend anyone to this practice, especially if you’re looking for great professionalism and a staff that cares.
Negative experience: Village Dental is an unethical scam. First of all, they make you watch a PowerPoint telling you everything that COULD be wrong with your teeth. That way, you're not surprised when those things are indeed "wrong" with your teeth. They also PUSH sedation dentistry even if you say you have no dental anxiety at all. At my initial appointment, they did this PowerPoint and then I had x-rays done. After that, they asked me if I wanted a cleaning. Um? That's what I booked it for?? Then, they told me that I had 5 cavities, needed 2 potential root canals, needed to wear a night guard because my teeth were being ground so badly, and that my teeth needed such a deep cleaning that I needed an "upcharge" cleaning to the tune of $1500 with insurance. Needless to say, as someone who hasn't had a cavity since I was a child, I was shocked. I got a second opinion from a trusted dentist and he did not agree with their opinion. It's an absolute shame that something as important as dental care should be treated as a moneymaker for this company. Check r/raleigh for even more details about them. Please, I beg you to go elsewhere and stop giving this sham of a practice money. EDIT: Not even 30 minutes after posting this review all of the sudden I receive a text message that I have an outstanding balance to my account.
