Negative experience: Never in my life going back to western dental bad service took my son for some work done on a tooth they took for ever they kept canceling my appointments but yeah they got me for like1200 dollar tooth paste treatment and electric toothbrush .so I just ran away from them for good

Negative experience: I started this journey with western dental in Merced on August 6th.I was given a treatment plan which I agreed to and signed an agreement for the price of $5,686.00 and I put down $780.00 deposit and would have recurring payments of $219.00 .When I came back on the 12th to start my procedure which included the removal of several teeth ,gum treatment and partials, there was a new dentist and I was told that the treatment plan that the previous dentist was going to do would not work and my only option was implants and the price changed to almost $17,000 a $12,000 price increase,and if I wanted them I would have to put down a deposit of $9,000 . I explained I did not have that kind of money and would go to another dentist for a evaluation they were ok with that and said they would cancel everything and refund my deposit, but it would take 2 weeks to get it.Two weeks later and I still haven't received my refund, I called them and went in they said they're still processing it. I called the customer service and they said they have no records of an cancelation....next step is filing a complaint with the BBB...The only positive thing going on there is the D.A. Keely Rosales. She is friendly,professional and very efficient .

Took my daughter for ortho appointment at 11am, we got there 10mins before her appointment but it took 2 1/2 hrs just to get put the upper braces on. The bottom braces had to be schedule for the following week. Whats the reason?? No, valid reasons it just need to be scheduled. Took her again the following week and again it took about 1hr. Once we got home, one of the bracket popped off....no problem things like that happen. We went in the following morning to get it fix but tell me why the orthodontist feel the need to squish her face because she was not biting down hard enough even after she already told the orthodontist her she was in pain? I have never been to an dental or ortho office that would treat their patient with little to no care. Orthodontist, if you need to argue, please do it in private and not in front of your patients. And don't take tools off of other patient's tray. Thats so unsanitary!!!! DON'T THANK ME FOR MY FEEDBACK IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO MAKE A CHANGE. DO BETTER!!!!!

Negative experience: Absolutely insane fees for just an exam and X-rays when there are local dentist who charge 3x less for the same service (my fault for assuming they were fair). Quoted me without insurance 2.5x higher than a local shop. The question I have is who do they think they are. Their chairs are broken and their equipment is old and the office is worn down. Oh and the girls behind the counter have a non-professional lack of effort attitude like you’re on their time and they are not on your time even though you are the customer. These places take advantage of people who are in pain thinking you’ll pay whatever to get it done. I’d rather drive 500 miles and wait a month with pain in my nerves and jaw than go here.

Negative experience: I’ve been a patient at Western Dental in Merced since 2020. My braces were supposed to be a 2–3 year treatment, fully paid off by my mom during the contract. However, due to my orthodontist’s serious fall injury, I — along with other patients — was unable to be seen for months. After she returned, appointments became irregular, sometimes only once every two months, and they frequently canceled or moved them. Around December, my orthodontist told me that although my contract had technically ended, I still needed more time in braces. I told her we had paid everything and my mom would not be paying extra. She said not to worry and that she would speak to the front desk so I could stay in treatment a little longer without being charged. I appreciated that and trusted her word. Now, months later, I was told by Nancy at the front desk that I had to pay $500 for the removal and retainers — services already included in the original contract. I explained everything, including what the doctor told me. Nancy was dismissive, rude, and refused to speak with my mom (even though she signed the contract when I was still a minor). She said I’m 19 and now an adult, so it’s between me and her — even though I’m not the one who signed the paperwork or paid thousands of dollars. My mom confronted them too, and they had nothing but excuses. What’s worse is that if Nancy is charging me for extra months of treatment, then why is the charge labeled for removal and retainers? If she truly wanted to charge for the additional visits, that’s a different service and cost. Instead, she’s using the removal/retainer fee as a cover, which feels dishonest, suspicious, and possibly illegal. I genuinely believe Nancy saw me as a young woman she could pressure and take advantage of. She used her position to act like she had power over me, and it felt like she was manipulating the situation because she didn’t think I’d fight back.

Negative experience: I had a terrible experience with this business. The owner, Nancy, is untrustworthy and seems focused on taking your money. Once I paid off my dental care, her attitude changed completely; she was rude and dismissive. Beware of her and her services, especially since she doesn't seem to have much regard for her clients.and she's botched.

Negative experience: don’t trust the five star reviews, this place is a mess. they lie about what type of appointment they put you down for, there is no privacy, rusty tools, and i genuinely have never had a worst dentist. for my treatment for wisdom tooth pain, to which i was scheduled to have removed which was confirmed multiple times and even ran through my insurance, he just told me to chew on the opposite side then proceeded to walk away. when i asked about the removal i was down for, they proceeded to gaslight me by saying i needed a consultation (i had one already with the insurance bill to prove it!) and then tried to charge me over $1000 for additional treatment after the removal whenever they got around to it. western dental sucks! go literally anywhere else.

Negative experience: Keely was extremely helpful and provided fast efficient service with me today. She was very supportive and kind. However, a staff member by the name of Shannely, in the general dentist department was ABSOLUTELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL with me during my visit. I requested to speak with Dr. Mendez, whom I was seen by at my appointment at 11am on 5/6/25, because his assistant informed me before leaving to return by 2pm to receive my cleaning before going to Ortho (I have braces) to have my wires put back on. However, upon my return at 2pm, the lady at the front desk explained to me the general dentist department was “unsure” what was told to me. This is NOT the first time this has happened! Because of this, the front desk never checked me in upon my arrival and after waiting 40mins, I went to the front desk to ask the lady how much longer until I am seen because I am in excruciating pain. That is when she informed me the general dentists department did not know what was going on and unsure about the information that was given to me by the Dr.’s assistant. The doctor himself also explained to me before I left and returned at 2pm, as he referred me to a specialist to for my wisdom tooth extraction, that if I am not able to find a specialist within two weeks, to return to western dental. However, I explained to him there is NO WAY I could wait two weeks. This appointment was in fact an emergency appointment after all! AND ON TOP OF THIS, I am currently pregnant which is even more cause for this extraction to be done immediately as high stress levels can lead to preterm labor! I tried explaining this to Dr. Mendez with Shannely present while also reiterating what Dr.’s assistant told me and asked for the name of the assistant which BOTH Dr. Mendez and Shannely refused to provide me with. They also made zero effort to communicate with the assistant as I requested to speak with her as well in order to receive clarity and have her accounted for. Overall, Shannely failed to exhibit professional care and customer service by refusing to allow the Dr.’s assistant to be present and clarify the information she provided me. Instead, she told me the information was never given to me and accused me of lying. This made my visit 10x more STRESSFUL and led to me having a panic attack. She should be terminated immediately.

Negative experience: This place is a SCAM, do not go!!’ 5hrs for an exam and they recommended unnecessary treatments. They were also rude and not helpful to my 73yo blind family member. Terrible place. I have been receiving phone calls and emails all the time almost a month after this awful first experience where we let them know we were not returning.

Negative experience: They take forever and most of the weight is just sitting in a chair. Dentist is chitchatting and resting on a chair. It’s ridiculous. It’s two hours of waiting about 20 minutes of actual dental work.

Negative experience: Something odd is going on, they scheduled a ortho consult on my behalf, and then I canceled that said consult. I went in to have my tooth fixed later in the day and was told I couldn’t due to insurance issues which is not their fault. However, I get a call today saying I missed both appointments. Then was hung up on. Something isn’t right about this place.

Negative experience: Came to my appointment early and checked in. An hour and 20 minutes later I see everyone getting called back except me.Asked the receptionist how much longer for her to tell me to wait that if she would’ve known I was here she would’ve called me. I told her the previous receptionist checked me in an hour and 20 minutes ago and she told me they will call me once a chair is opened! They are so unprofessional do not recommend this place their wait time is ridiculous!

Negative experience: This place is a joke.. this is my second time being here they have you sit and wait for over two hours for an appointment Mind you they call you three days prior to let you know what your appointment is for. Then when you get there after your 2 hour of waiting They tell you You’re there for something completely different. If I was you I would go somewhere else. Then you have the employees in the back talking, super loud about other employees and patients. Horrible experience. I will never recommend this place to anyone, and they’re super dirty.

Negative experience: My daughter had an appointment on 2/11 at 4pm, so I got out of work early (had to use my sick pay) and I called my dental insurance to verify that it was current (which it was). Because I was on the phone we ended up coming into Western Dental at 4:05 just a few minutes after my daughter's appointment. The girl at the counter said that we had to reschedule because she needed to call to verify my insurance, and since the number for the insurance verification closes at 4pm she said it would be impossible for her to call. I told her that I had just verified it, though, but she said that she had to call from her office. Even though I was annoyed, I said ok, and rescheduled to Saturday. She said that I would need to call on Friday to verify, the day before the scheduled appointment, since the office to call for verification is closed on the weekends. Since I was exasperated by the interaction I just said fine, okay, and didn't even question the fact that she had JUST said that SHE needed to call from HER office. I feel like since it was the end of the day she didn't want to deal with me. I feel like she gave me the wrong information and made us leave for nothing. I took off from my work early, and used my sick pay, for absolutely nothing. This situation really irked me.

The Staff & Dr's made me feel welcomed, comfortable and I was able to get through all my appointments with ease. They were all kind, patient and understanding. I'm so thankful for all the Staff members of this Western Dental office and their Orthodonics Department. Don't get me started!! ALL (each and every one of them) Heaven Sent! Thank you for making my experience tranquil. I look forward to my next appt. If I could give them 100 Stars I would!! I wish nothing but goodness for this office and ALL their Staff.

Negative experience: I recommend saving your money and looking elsewhere. While the prices might seem appealing, it's not worth the hassle. The receptionists are unprofessional, and the place feels like a money grab. They don't prioritize patient care, fail to send appointment reminders, and you'll end up waiting for hours even with a scheduled appointment.

Negative experience: I don’t know how to even start it was horrible will probably have to start looking for a new dentist. I’ve been here since a teen and today I came early for my appointment which was suppose to be for 2:30 I got here at 2:05 it’s currently 4:58 and I’m still waiting to get a cleaning and seen people get theirs before me I’m so upset I’m still in a room alone waiting.

Negative experience: Parents should be given the opportunity to accompany their minor child during procedure especially when the child already express that they are not comfortable and scared. I understand sometimes it easier to work when parents is not present but don't straight up tell a child "no, your parent can't go with you". DO BETTER next time.

Negative experience: If I could give ZERO I would. My son has been out there TWICE and they weren’t ready for him either time. Had to reschedule both times after sitting in the waiting room for over 2 hours. Such a waste of gas and time. They knew ahead of time and didn’t bother to call and reschedule. Inconsiderate! Counter staff was snappy and NO HELP. Avoid this place at all costs if you possibly can.

Negative experience: Everyone there didn’t seem to want to help, I need implants and the dentist didn’t provide any information about financing or any other options that may be available. They were quick to want to pull the teeth and send me to a specialist for more root canal’s. I bet if one of them were in my situation they would feel the same way. Western Dental in Hayward, ca on Jackson street sucks! If you can find somewhere else to go, I recommend trying anywhere before going here! Get it together western dental have more compassion for people.

Negative experience: After a year and a half of me telling them to fix my tooth, it has an infection and they finally gave me a referral. I had an appointment today and the doctor was not even there, this has happened 4 other times now, where either the doctor was not there or they scheduled me on day it was closed. This place is horrible and so are the doctors and receptionists. To top it off it’s dirty and I saw a rat while waiting in the lobby!!

Negative experience: The doctor just wants to extract your teeth, because that's how they earn the most money. (Even if you have no pain, and just need a filling.) Do not go there! I feel like I should warn people. Also, the nurse is wonderful and probably under paid, but the doctor is horrible. She didn't even give me a proper exam just looked at the x-rays and she didn't say anything else about my care options, just to extract my teeth. Which aren't even hurting me. She didn't tell me about crown options or anything.

Negative experience: If I give this corporation zero stars I would. My daughter's insurance lists all Western Dentals on her insurance. But when we arrive to the appointment we are told the doctors there are not contracted with her insurance. Then why are they contracted to work there. Beyond unacceptable and absolutely ridiculous. I call the Atwater Western Dental who states they accept her insurance but when I ask for receptionist to verify with my daughter's insurance he states he doesn't have access. What, all providers have access to insurance companies to VERIFY patients insurance. What a waste of time.

Fantastic experience: The staff was very friendly, informative, and gental with my whole exam/consolation especially the dental assistant who did my x-rays who was extremely kind, empathetic, and friendly. I wish I could have gotten her name because despite my severe dental issues, she was so exceptionally careful and caring when taking my x-rays, and she made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. She looked causasian with blond hair that was in a bun. Overall, I see myself going back to Western Dental for the rest of my dental work. Negative experience: I am visually impaired, and I wanted to tell you that I don’t recommend Western Dental. I’ve had so many ongoing issues with them that have made the entire process extremely stressful. The first major problem was with the bite blocker they placed. Despite my concerns about how it interfered with my breathing and use of my CPAP machine, they refused to remove it. This forced me to go to another clinic to have it taken out, which could have been avoided if they had listened to my needs. Another problem is their phone service. Every time I call to make an appointment, they put me on hold and then hang up on me. This isn’t just a one-time issue—this has happened repeatedly. Sometimes they ask why I’m calling, and when I say I need to make an appointment, they offer a time, but then they hang up before confirming my name or date of birth. It feels like they don’t take my calls seriously or value my time. When I’ve gone in person to address these issues, the front desk staff has been incredibly rude. They don’t seem to care about answering questions or providing clear information, and their attitude has made me feel disrespected, especially as a visually impaired person. I’ve tried to be patient, but the lack of basic courtesy and professionalism is beyond frustrating. I’m staying with Western Dental only until my braces treatment is complete because I’ve already invested time and money, but after that, I will never return. The service has been terrible from start to finish, and I’ve felt dismissed and undervalued as a patient and as a person with a disability. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone, especially if you’re visually impaired or have specific needs, as they clearly don’t seem equipped or willing to accommodate them.”

Positive experience: The only negative is the wait, initially I waited 3 hours before I was seen. Hygienist and the dentist were efficient and personable, did a great job.

Negative experience: This place takes advantage of people. I went in to have work done and ended up with a $3,000 bill(I dont have insurance, but still). Just for a deep cleaning, some gum treatment supplies, and a night guard so I don't grind my teeth. They also charged me for some antibiotic injections(which cost more than $150 per shot, and i got 4 or 5 of them). That didn't even work. Also, they tried charging me another $12,000 for 1 implant...... 1 IMPLANT.... Bedside manner was horrible, too. The guy I had was forcibly rocking a couple of teeth back and forth I was having issues with just to show me what I already knew. Safe to say, I went to another dental office, and they fixed all of my issues without trying to get a fortune out of me. Overall, they wanted about $17,000 for all the work they wanted done. I can't stress it enough. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

Negative experience: Never. Ever EVER get your braces here. Receptionists are terrible and WILL lie to your face. Appointments will be cancelled for rescheduled without notice. Or you’ll be given an appointment and the office will be CLOSED. DO NOT COME HERE. you will waste your time and your money, 0/10 if I could give 0 stars, I would.

Negative experience: I posted something roughly 3 years ago when I was about to get my braces. Had it not been for the braces I would’ve ran for the hills. I had scheduled a root canal and cleaning appointment, it was rescheduled because the specialist wasnt going to be in. I told the person who called me if they could fit me in the soonest day possible since it was really hurting. They rescheduled it Monday and upon arrival I was told that I didn’t have a root canal appointment just a cleaning but they couldn’t take me in because ortho was closed. I would assume they have all my information in the system so this is very unfortunate. I have to wait for August for the root canal which is very concerning. Not only are they not affordable like they claim to be but really unorganized with insane wait times and rude at times. Really crazy how they have 4 stars. Please I suggest go somewhere else!

Negative experience: Horrible place. Nice women behind the desk They Seem very. But. There is something wrong with this place. Spent 2 days trying to get my dad's antibiotics. They say oh I sent it to the pharmacy t Pharmacy says nobody sent anything and they said oh I sent it.The pharmacy says I didn't see anything and they said well, I sent it.I'm headed over there now

Fantastic experience: Today was my first time visiting and the staff here are some of the friendliest most compassionate people I have ever worked with. I have had bad experiences with dentists in the past that made me afraid to go back, but Western Dental has changed that! Even though my teeth aren't the prettiest and I struggled to get my payment sorted out, the staff remained empathetic and never made me feel embarrassed or ashamed, for once I felt like a human and not like a dollar sign. Making the switch to them was definitely the right choice!

Negative experience: PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!!! THEY JUST WANT TO BILL YOUR INSURANCE!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR TEETH OR YOUR KIDS TEETH! THEY MAKE YOU WAIT FOREVER!!! THEY HAVE BULLET HOLES IN THE WAITING ROOM WINDOWS, I WONDER WHY!!!

Negative experience: My wife went here appointment time was 3:00pm we got out at 6pm? What’s the point of making appointment if you only prioritized someone in your ethicity smh. Don’t be like that !!!!!!
