Since 1967, Jefferson Dental & Orthodontics continues to provide the most compassionate, high-quality, affordable and convenient dental and orthodontic care to our communities. We have over 70 offices throughout Texas and recently expanded to Oklahoma in 2021. We are the proud, official dentist of the Dallas Mavericks.
Our talented doctors, hygienists, dental assistants and team members are the very life force that allows us to care so deeply for our patients. Negative experience: I went to Jefferson Dental for an appointment but realized I wouldn’t be able to stay because I needed to pick up my child from school. I asked to reschedule for the next day, but I was told it would cost more. They also mentioned they close at 5:30, so I was basically told I had to be seen right then. The receptionist was not understanding, and I felt rushed and unsupported. Very disappointing experience. Does anyone have recommendations for a more accommodating dental office?

Negative experience: They will refuse to give you dental records. They will give you the run around till you go somewhere else. it is illegal for a healthcare provider or health plan to refuse to give you copies of your medical paperwork, as the HIPAA Privacy Rule grants individuals a legal right to access and obtain copies of their health information, with very few exceptions. You have the right to inspect, review, and receive a copy of your records, and a provider cannot deny your request because you haven't paid your medical bill or because they think the information might upset you. If your provider refuses your request, you can file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights (OCR) or your state's health agency.

Positive experience: Price went up by about $40 compared to what I paid in February of this year for the same work. The manager had no good explanation why I am paying more for the same work. She said that the prices went up at the beginning of the year but she couldn't explain why the fee paid in February is different than what I'm paying now. And also, if there is a stupid convenience fee to use a credit card why no one told me anything about it when I paid. I know notice the extra charge later on when I saw the receipt. when. I'm on social security and I feel like I'm being a squeezed.

Negative experience: I give this location zero stars the Dr was rude he was very pushy rough and rude the assistant Karina was wonderful the other ladies spoke a different language. The bathroom was disgusting the office is out dated. The girl came in to explain things I had going on and wanted to charge me an arm and leg this location only care about money very very pushy they only care about the money and not the patients. I will not recommend this office to anyone RUN FAR AWAY!!!!!!!

Positive experience: The AI phone answering service wasn’t that great, because I had specific questions about the services I needed and Miss Sophia (AI) clearly wasn’t created for that. However, I walked in and they took care of everything right on the spot!! I was in and out in about 2 hours! The office staff, hygienists, and dentist were very friendly and helpful! I’ll definitely use them again!!

Negative experience: This is the absolute WORST dentist I’ve ever been too. I went in for an exam on my tooth because I’ve been have excruciating pain on a filling I received at another place and the male dentist told me to go back there and he doesn’t see anything wrong. He didn’t even look at the tooth thoroughly. I said I feel a crack in the tooth and he said “there’s no crack” without even checking! He then left me and went to another patient. I asked if he could come back and SIMPLY CHECK to see if there’s a crack and the manger said he REFUSED. The manager kept trying to gaslight me and get me to leave the clinic. The male dentist here is incredibly rude and he won’t listen to you. Go. Somewhere. Else.

Negative experience: I was shifted to this location without notice from the one on Mason Rd because they closed the Ortho there. While the Orthodontists has been very nice and professional, I have had FOUR (4) Ortho changes from June 2023 when I started my Invisalign treatment. Every single time, I was never informed about the change. My current Orthodontist, Dr Wang, is really nice and she‘s the first to actually show me how my teeth would look like after her set of aligner treatments. What irks me and makes me never to recommend anyone to this WHOLE chain of clinics is the fact that they will cancel my appointments and reschedule them WITHOUT my prior knowledge. And when I try to call them to find out why, I am always put on hold for a long time or they will transfer and my call gets disconnected. Besides that, my treatment has been delayed multiple times because of Orthodontist changes and whatever reasons I am not told. My son who is undergoing Invisalign treatment with another clinic is already finishing his plan and he started way later than me. And he went to another clinic because of my bad experience starting at Jefferson. I recently found out that even if you are halfway through your Invisalign treatment, you can get a letter from your current Orthodontist and get transferred to another clinic. I didn‘t know I could do this so I endured. But if anyone reading this is UNHAPPY with how Jefferson is delaying your treatments/cancelling/rescheduling without your knowledge, you can LEAVE. Don‘t continue with them. It‘s been 1.5 years and they said my treatment is simple but I am still not done yet because of all the delays they caused. At this point, I am just frustrated and disappointed. P/s: I just arrived for today’s appt 5/12, which was the date given on my appt card to be told my appt has been moved (without my knowledge, again!) this is ridiculous.

Fantastic experience: I had such a pleasant visit at this office. I was feeling anxious about going to the dentist since it had been a long while since I last gone. The staff are very friendly and the hygienist and Dentist that worked on my teeth were also very kind. What I loved the most was that the staff was educational throughout the whole visit. Positive experience: 1st visit with all 3 of my children was great, the facility was clean, check in was easy, my only complaint was that we had appointments back to back starting at 9am and although we got in and got X-rays completed we did not see the doctor until 10:45 for my daughter and at 11 boys were still waiting. Overall the dental assistant and staff communicated well and were positive. Ask for C.Petit she was very patient and kind with my 7yr old all the staff were.

Negative experience: I wouldn’t refer my worst enemy here. Over priced, the older male dentist is not pleasant, and lil Brianna that answer the phone needs better communication skills. Only reason I gave two stars is cause the dental hygienists are great

Negative experience: Worst customer service I started my treatment in one location and this was the main reason i choose them they were near my house and they changed me to another location far from my house they never change the paperwork with my insurance and now they charge me for it even its not my fault. To finish my treatment I saw 4-5 orthos. Have been Trying to contact them for more than 2 months and no one knows how to solve the issue. Will definitely not recommend it to any of my friends.

The dentist and staff were professional, reassuring, and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I would give a 0 Start, if I could They're claiming insurance didn't' cover and now, they're just discovering They have extremely poor accounting system and constantly trying to up-sell!

Negative experience: I visited Jefferson Dental located in Fry Rd and Clay Rd just once for a regular cleaning, and it was the worse experience that I had, they were very unprofessional I got a cleaning and two two fillings and one of the fillings fell off, few days later. I told them to do just that work covered by my insurance, I paid the part they told me it wasn’t covered by the insurance the same day.$277.00 and now they are calling me saying that I have an extra balance of 227.00 to pay because the insurance didn’t pay the claim in total.

Negative experience: Jefferson Dental tried billing my insurance company for a service that I didn’t ask for. I ask for a basic cleaning. My insurance company denied the claim Don’t allow the staff to force you into giving them a 5 star rating prior to leaving!

Negative experience: I was in a lot of pain while the doctor was taking my tooth out. He was frustrated with me crying & stressing out from him pulling out my teeth. . He pulled on the tooth so hard but I was not numb ENOUGH, it hurt so bad. He was upset I couldn’t handle the pain. He said calm down it’s not that bad. I needed more empathy & slower extraction of my teeth. This man is not gentle, it hurt so bad to go through this procedure. . Another thing while going through my procedure the dr while in my mouth was having FULL blown conversations with the assistants about other things not related to me.

Positive experience: When I originally called I was told this clinic offered sedation. Then when I asked I was told that the Dr doesn’t like to use it as it gets in the way of his treatment. So after being assured it would be ok, I went ahead and did it without. The assistant goes to use numbing cream and the Dr has the needle before she has a chance to place it in my mouth and says the numbing cream doesn’t work it’s more mental than anything and then proceeds to stick me with pain in my mouth. I was then left alone layed back with no one to suction the saliva and bad taste from the injection. I tried to flag some staff down with my hands but no one saw. The assistant came back and said oh you can just suction yourself. I was at this point livid, SUCTION MYSELF?! I also was a bit worried because they kept saying tooth 13 (I don’t know these teeth numbers) but when i did a quick google of teeth chart, I just happened to say that the pain was not coming from that tooth and what was wrong with tooth 13. He said oh we can do the other tooth it doesn’t matter, what do you think? I am not the expert, so I just kept saying the pain is here ( pointing to that area).The hygienist who did my deep cleaning was good and quick, she listened to my concerns and talked me through. I would mark 2 stars but I’ll edit again after I come for the next part of my treatment in March.

Negative experience: Was feeling nervous about coming but everyone in the office was kind, professional and I felt comfortable throughout. Maggie the hygienist was great and so pleasant. Will make this my regular dentist at going forward. Update summer 2023 I have had so many billing issues with this office. You can never get in touch with anyone over the phone and no one responds to the emails sent. Very frustrating and their incorrect billing is costing me more money. Update November 2023 Still no resolution to billing issues. Removing another star. Calls always go to their answering service. Very frustrating and do not recommend. Update summer 2024 I had to file a complaint with my dental Company and the brace finance company OrthoFi. That’s the only way I got my money back and issue closed out.

Fantastic experience: Front desk lady carols was awesome. Very sweet and handles everything perfectly. I have ptsd so as far as repeating myself is an issue. She asked me something and if I did t know it then she took care of it for me.

Negative experience: Exam room not ready. Technician could not pronounce my name--Karen-- a common name, lead gown for X-ray was floppy and loose, blood pressure method taken incorrectly, no one knew cost of cleaning except office manager, dentist was abrupt and brief, x ray technician was excruciatingly slow and didn't seem to know what she was doing. Felt like she was an intern or still in training, except no one told me if she was, woman at front desk tried to blow off my questions with vague answers. Dental hygienist left my mouth with a gritty substance on it.

Negative experience: I would not even give them a one star . They did my root canal and I kept checking in with them as I was in pain . They were supposed to call me if the crown was ready . I called them twice and they mention we will let you know when it’s ready . Guess what 4 months passed by no one contacted about my crown or if I need to come . There was a black spot building on my fake crown . I called them after 4 months and said oh we are sorry there was some issue you need to come back again to give impressions for the crown . I went to the clinic after setting up the appointment they had me wait 1.5 hour and the clinic was going to close 5:30 . Such a horrible service . I am never going to this clinic unless you’re wanting to destroy your teeth . This is horrible ! They are a joke

Negative experience: I am pleased with the local in office service. The regional reimbursement office is another conversation. I have been dealing with a reimbursement issue for over 1yr to no avail. Multiple emails have been sent from the local offices to resolve this issue. My FSA card have been locked d/t the lack resolve from the regional reimbursement office. I am @ the point of getting legal involved in this issue.

Fantastic experience: Dr Gokay Goktug is excellent! I’m a huge baby, full of dental anxiety and I had teeth extracted by another provider . I got worried over weekend as their office was closed and thought I was beginning to have dry socket. He checked on me, assured me I was ok and gave me some TLC in the moment with my anxiety. I take my whole family here. I only see another provider as I need lots of breaks due to anxiety. My whole family loves this place and I do too, they take good care of us, thank you so much Fry Rd location, and Dr Goktug thank you so much I stopped bleeding just like you said and I feel great today, be blessed!!!

Negative experience: I like the doctors at Jefferson. However, admin need to get their act together when it comes to scheduling. I have to go to two different locations for cleaning vs ortho. EVERY SINGLE TIME someone schedules me at the WRONG location and I have to call and reschedule. EVERY TIME. I take of work for that day and rescheduling screws me. Not to mention how frustrating it is to book an appointment while I'm on location then when it's near time to go back I start getting confirmation request for the other location!

Negative experience: This establishment is full of unprofessional people. Imagine making an appointment and driving to your appointment, only to be called 10 minutes before your appointment while driving into their parking lot, that they'd like to reschedule. When I aired my displeasure and informed the person on the phone that I was already outside, I was asked to come in. To add to their unprofessional behavior, I was asked to fill out forms over. This was irritating because I had filled it out online and received confirmation emails to this effect. I obliged and filled out the forms. I provided my insurance card with the id and group number. The lady insisted that if I didn't provide my social security number, they would not be able to verify my insurance. Knowing that isn't the case, I asked her to call the insurance to verify. She was adamant about obtaining my SSN#. I was also resolute in my decision not to give it. In these days of cyber crime, no one gives such information out freely. Insurance has enrollee identification and group numbers for a reason. At best, this place deserves a zero star. The atmosphere is unkempt, and the lady I had an interaction with was unprofessional and uncouth. Buyer beware! Update: As usual, they responded with their boiler plate text. Do yourself a favor people, take your business elsewhere. Read the reviews, too many similar instances of overcharging patients, bad services, and many more unpleasant experiences. So no thanks, we won't be calling you back! Zero is what this business deserves.

Negative experience: I’m not sure if they even deserve one star. I recently visited Jefferson Dental and was extremely disappointed with my experience. From the outset, the reception staff were unhelpful and unwelcoming. The office itself was disorganized, and I experienced long wait times despite having an appointment. During my appointment, the hygienist seemed rushed . Additionally, I felt that the treatment I received was subpar, and i’m still following up having make multiple trips to have this issue resolve issues that should have been addressed during my visit. On top of all that I clearly asked in advance the cost of the services provided I asked I wouldn’t like only services that would be covered by my insurance company, which was a dental cleaning. I was told it would be covered by my insurance now they’re saying I signed the paperwork which I did sign the forms for a regular cleaning now they’re saying I signed the form for a deep cleaning the day of my visit I made it very clear to the hygienist. The my insurance wasn’t gonna cover deep cleaning, my insurance has not received enough information due to this insurance coverage is not being done correctly .I have call my insurance this clinic isn’t sending that right information I have called billing department and there nothing calling me back .After everything was completed, I was sent a bill of over $1400. I’ve had a terrible experience, reaching someone that would explain the cost of this I have contacted my dental insurance and they mentioned the service I wanted was covered but not a deep cleaning which was what I clearly mentioned I did not want. Overall, the lack of professionalism and attention to patient care was concerning. I would not recommend this dental office based on my experience. I will also be contacting the Better Business Bureau. Stay away from here if you don’t want to be scammed.

Negative experience: Im so disappointed in this place, I honestly don’t know where to start. I got braces for myself, as well as my son. I switched locations from Mason Rd to Fry Rd because I thought the incompetence was isolated to one location. Since being at the Fry location, last week I was placed on hold for 50 minutes, only to have my phone line connected to another patient who was also on hold. I video recorded my conversation with the as we tried to figure out how that happened. I’m almost certain that violated some sort of HIPPA. I called back, and spoke with the manager, and there’s no need to describe how that conversation went. There’s always confusion with scheduling. It’s like they don’t know they have two different areas independently working. For example, I schedule our cleanings on the same day as our orthodontic visits for convenience. It never goes as planned. They claim orthodontic side can’t see the cleaning side so they never know your times. You get there, and they say you don’t have an appointment. Then they reschedule you without telling you. I have text messages continuously asking them to stop changing my appointments to days I didn’t agree to. Lastly, I paid $3100 to pay off balance our braces + $200 for the copay of our laser cleaning. The office sent me a text 2 days ago saying I still owe $1800 when I have the receipt with me. Now they’re saying I owe $675 + $1800 smh. The level of incompetence is amazing at this place. Sad part is, I paid the balance off so I could have these people finish up so we don’t have to come back here. I advise you to stay away from this place! My experience has been absolutely horrible!

Positive experience: Dr Wang is amazing and compassionate, I wish I could say the same about others on the team. Sometimes I would arrive late for my appointment no more than 30 minutes late actually no more than 15 minutes late. Today I arrived 14 minutes late, Upon arrival, the lobby was full, so I added my name to the sign in sheet. My appointment was for 3:30 PM. I arrived at 3:44 PM. I didn’t get called until 4:09 PM. When I asked how much longer it would be the lady at the front desk. She was very friendly. She had a smile, but she told me that I had two patients in front of me. How did I go from an appointment at 3:30 with no grace. And two other people put in front of me. I understand people have treatments and I also understand that I was late which I always get a grace 15 minutes to make it to my appointment but why would the front office double book or even triple book that my appointment gets pushed back by 25 or so minutes. Dr. Wang is so sweet and attentive. I will recommend her to anybody but the front office needs some work and some organization.

Negative experience: I’m 9 months pregnant and went in for pain. I already knew what the issue was but needed a second opinion and treatment. When I called a person from a call center set up my appointment and I told him that I would like to confirm that they accept my insurance. He told me that after my appointment was set I would receive a call within 45 minutes and then they would be able to verify my insurance. I never received a call just a text that I had my appointment for 1pm. So i just decided to go anyway due to the pain once I made it there I was told to sign in and have a seat. About 15-20 minutes later I was called back up to fill out paperwork and verify insurance (New Patient). After about another 10-15 minutes I was told that they don’t accept my insurance so I asked how much to be seen for the day and they stated $29 for exam and xrays. I proceeded to pay and waited to be seen due to the excruciating pain. After another 20 minutes I was finally called back, questions were asked and a ton of xrays where taken on two different machines. Everyone up to that point was nice and friendly. The Dentist (Gokay Goktug )on the other hand came in and was being rather rough in my mouth and when I made a sound or moved because I was in pain. He sated that I was having a baby I should be able to take pain. That was strike one but I said nothing. He then said that I just need to brush more and that was causing the pain and I told him that it felt like something sharp was protruding out of my gums and showed him where and then he stated it was a piece of bone. I asked if that was the cause for the pain although I already knew and he said yes even after he stated that I need to brush more which he claimed was the issue at first. He got on his computer behind me and I received phone call regarding my children so I answered it. At the time he wasn’t talking to me so I picked up real quick to make sure my children were okay. As I’m about to get off the phone he starts talking to me and I say excuse me so that i can hurry and get off the phone and talk to him. He tells me who am I talking to him or on the phone and that he is a doctor and I don’t need to be on the phone. He was very upset and rude about it . I am in no way a rude person and I did feel bad about being on my phone but I needed to check on my children and didn’t mean any harm. He stormed off and called his dentist assistant to go where he went. I felt like he was as overly rude and aggressive so I left and didn’t look back. I cried all the way home because I was in shock that he talked to me the way he did and I was still hurting. He didn’t even give me a chance to apologize and tell him that the call was important he just went off. I don’t care if he was the president there is a way that you talk to people and how he handled the situation was completely unnecessary. I wouldn’t go back to this location if my life depended on it. That guy needs a true reality check and to understand that he is not God. If you want respect you give it. Simple I will be disputing the charges with my bank. And just because someone is pregnant and going to have a baby doesn’t mean that they should be able to take pain and that they can handle someone being rough in their mouth. Update: Had my baby girl 11/29/23, she was stillborn may she rest peacefully in Heaven

Negative experience: Such a money hungry facility. They overcharge the prices of what you’re actually getting done and your insurance will showcase different prices than what you got charged. The doctor is so harsh it hurts your teeth. He made me not want to ever get anything done, but thankfully, I found a great dental place to get my work done. After that, I realized that this place has unethical practices, which made me write this review. Ontop of that everyone there is unhelpful and all assistants look miserable at all times. Unfriendly facility, it is truly sad. I recommend staying away from this place truthfully, as they aren’t there to fix your teeth they are there to collect checks. They don’t care about your wellbeing as they complain when you have insurance. The current doctor I’m seeing motivates you to get insurance and finds ways to help you save money. I couldn’t speak less of a facility like this one and after seeing what a real dentist is. Also, if you confront them about mischarges they will ghost you and pass you around so they don’t have to deal with it. Shady place, really find another dentist! SIDE NOTE: ontop of being overcharged and sold things I did not need. I was not informed about the things I DID need. I am being billed additional to the ridiclous amount of money I paid out of pocket AND what they charged my insurance. I did submit a complaint to the TDOI. Again, please save your time and money and go elsewhere that’s more credible.

Negative experience: After my horrible visit to the Wallisville/ Uvalde location, I went to the Fry Rd location. I called Fry Rd location last Tuesday to make an appointment. I told them about my experience at their other location. They said they would make note of it. So when I got there, they couldn’t find my appointment, they didn’t have my X-rays. My appointment was for cleaning, getting a chip fixed and whitening molds. Once again I got no work done. They were just going to complete part of my work. Only cleaning. Apparently the dentist was busy, and couldn’t see me. What the hell is an appointment for?? So now I am 0-2 with Jefferson Dental. Two visits in a week, no work done. Strongly recommend everyone find another Dental office. This Franchise is a joke! Put 1 star because it was the only way I could leave another Review! Wow!!! Colin Pope

Positive experience: Although the dentistry seems to be adequate. Time management was terrible. Both visits had a great amount of waiting time. I can possibly understand the first time as I had a 1:45 appointment and things can get backed up as the day progresses. However, this morning I had the first appointment of the day. I arrived at 9:55 for my 10:00 appointment. No one even spoke to me until 10:15 and I didn’t get into the chair until 10:40. If you going to make a 10:00 appointment, all your should ready to go to work at that time. You sent me numerous reminders about my appointment. Perhaps you should’ve sent the same reminders to your staff. On a positive note, the hygienist that cleaned my teeth did a very good job and was very gentle.
