Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough good things about Kendall Rhode and Associates! From the moment I walked in, the office was spotless, welcoming, and full of the kindest staff. I’ve been to a lot of dental offices over the years, and many have told me—over and over—that I needed reconstructive gum surgery for receding gums. After having two surgeries already (that didn’t work), I was hesitant and honestly a little discouraged. I chose Kendall Rhode and Associates because I knew they were an office of integrity. Dr. Jeff examined me and, to my relief, told me I actually didn’t need the surgery at all. They weren’t trying to take my money like so many others had in the past—they truly wanted to help me and give me the best care possible. I never felt rushed during my appointment. Instead, I felt seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. Dr. Jeff and the entire team were attentive and took the time to explain everything in a way that made me feel confident and at ease. I couldn’t recommend them more highly. Any negative review you might see, I would take with a grain of salt because after visiting countless dental offices, I can honestly say this is one of the very best!! Thank you for everything!!!

I was in search for a new dentist who was not only skillful but also had great bedside manners. I luckily found Dr. Rohde via Reddit and the reviews were spot on. He and his office were well worth the drive from San Diego. I’ll definitely be coming to him for all my dental needs. Highly recommend. All of the staff I interacted with were wonderful.

Positive experience: After 80 years of bouncing around the USA's west coast, east coast, southwest, Hawaii and finally settling down in SB, I never thought that I would see the day that I would look forward to a dentist appointment. But such is the case with K, R & A. Their office is bright and cheery as is all of the wonderful staff that you encounter at the reception desk, in the waiting room or on the way to your dental chair. And to top that off, they do great work from examination and cleaning to dental procedures. Awesome place!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Renata Da Fonseca and her staff were fabulous. Very warm, patient and accommodating from scheduling to the end of our visit. Our son was nervous for his first appointment but left excited to come back next time. Such a relief for us to have his dental health journey start out so positively.

Negative experience: We have been so disappointed in Kendall, Rohde & Associates. They conduct deceptive business practices, negligent misrepresentation, and consumer fraud. WATCH OUT! They recently billed our insurance for procedures that were not performed. Yikes! They also billed us incorrectly - things just weren't lining up with the statements we received from our insurance company. Additionally, after five years of our family of five as patients, they had all of us in for nine appointments without communicating that they had dropped their contract with our insurance company. At every appointment, the front desk confirmed our insurance and mailing address, but did not bother to disclose the termination of the contract. The procedures were repeat procedures and had previously been fully covered. Had we been informed of the termination, we would have simply requested an estimate prior to proceeding - standard practice. We requested to speak directly with Dr. Rhode and Dr. Kendall on multiple occasions. Neither returned our calls. After years as patients of the practice, we were extremely surprised to be treated with such disregard and disrespect. The lack of disclosure constitutes abject failure in ethical duty to provide transparent information that directly impacts a patient’s financial responsibilities and decision-making. Watch out!

Negative experience: I rarely write reviews, but felt compelled to provide feedback, not only for future patients but also for Kendall, Rohde & Associates. I'll start by saying Dr. Rhode has excellent bedside manner—he was kind, professional, and saw me for multiple follow-up visits at no charge. I genuinely appreciated his care and attentiveness throughout. That said, I left the experience disappointed—not because the laser procedure to remove my mucocele didn’t work (I understand these things aren't always successful), but because of the cost and lack of transparency. I was charged $150 for the out-of-network consultation and $750 for the laser treatment. Afterward, I spoke with four other dentists—including my own father, who is a dentist—and all of them said the price was unusually high. One even commented that at that rate, the dentist could have covered the cost of an oral surgeon, who typically charges around $300 out-of-pocket for the same procedure. To be fair, Dr. Rhode is the only dentist in Santa Barbara (to my knowledge) who offers this laser treatment, which may explain the premium. Still, I wish I had been given a more detailed cost estimate upfront. The lack of transparency made the high price feel like a surprise, and it was frustrating to later learn how much lower the cost is elsewhere. I ultimately had the mucocele successfully removed in another country for a fraction of the price. I’m not writing this to warn others away—Dr. Rhode is a good dentist—but I strongly encourage prospective patients to ask for a clear cost breakdown or good faith estimate beforehand, especially when paying out of pocket or going out-of-network.

Fantastic experience: We have always had a great experience at Kendall Rohde, and recently my 2 year old slipped and fell, dislodging a tooth. The staff was wonderful in treating her, following up daily via text for updates and gave us clear instructions about how to treat the tooth. She is doing much better and we are grateful for the care she received and continues to receive.

They not only got me in to see Dr Kendal by 9:00 but she and her assistant were so kind and knowledgeable and fixed me up so I walked out with my tooth temporarily back in place. He reviewed my X-rays and assured me that my bone and overall dental health were actually in good condition. I truly appreciated his honesty, clear communication, and the straightforward way he explained everything—no pressure, just facts and genuine care. My hygienist, Noe, is also fantastic. He gives a gentle, thorough cleaning and takes the time to educate me as he goes. Best of all, he actually pauses to let me answer his questions—none of that classic dental game of “guess what I’m saying with four tools and a suction hose in my mouth.” Honestly, it feels like a real conversation and not like I'm trying to mime my way through a dental exam. Overall, I feel listened to, cared for, and surprisingly conversational during cleanings. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Munoz is my hero! I was visiting Santa Barbara for a few days, and late afternoon on a Friday, a cap on my front tooth came off. I'd had it for more than 20 years, so of course, it had to come off when I was out of town. After looking up dentists who were open (with good reviews!), I called Kendall, Rohde & Associates, and was informed I could come in. Dr. Munoz could sense that certain things bothered me (e.g. the sound of some devices), so she'd suggested I put in headphones as a distraction. The process was much quicker than I would have thought, and the tooth looks fantastic! I am so grateful to Dr. Munoz and the team for accommodating me on such short notice and for fixing my front tooth! It would have otherwise been a very stressful and uncomfortable weekend.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Fonseca is the best in both- being great in children’s dentistry and very personal and positive with our daughters. We had very hard time finding a dentist, especially for our youngest daughter, it was a constant battle. Fantastic experience: Making a 2.5-hour drive for a dental appointment may seem excessive to some, but after experiencing Dr. Rodhe's exceptional care and innovative techniques such as the use of laser technology for cavity treatments, I knew I had made the right decision. My visit and treatment with him exceeded my expectations. I appreciate his caring, kindness , humor, and his taking the time to thoroughly explain clearly every step of the way each procedure and treatment option. I also really like Dr Rodhe’s assistant Marissa. She was very kind and caring. As well as Mariaelisa the receptionist for her warm greeting.

Prices are extremely reasonable and they discount for ATM cards & checks. GREAT for kids... we have been coming here for years. Fantastic experience: I had THE best experience with Dr. Munoz and Marissa as a new patient at Kendall, Rhode & Associates. I first went for a regular cleaning, and they were warm, personable, thorough, and accommodating. I had a chip on a front tooth crown and decided I wanted it replaced, and Dr. Munoz and Marissa went above and beyond to make it a perfect match for my smile, as well as to ensure the experience was as painless and comfortable as possible. Making a crown for a single tooth is no easy feat, and they went to great lengths to ensure I was happy with the results. I can’t speak highly enough of these two—their attention to detail, kindness, and expertise--the entire experience was an 11/10 and I hope to be a patient for life!

Fantastic experience: This is a team of consummate professionals who are calm and friendly. Whether it's a routine visit or a broken tooth, once you enter their lovely offices you know you're in the best of care. Dr. Rhode, Terry, Tracy and the entire staff are the Best!

Negative experience: I'm satisfied with the clinical staff and treatment received at Kendall, Rohde & Associates. However the lack of transparency around fees, billing, and pre-authorizations from the office staff (notably Tracy) is upsetting to me. I am no fan of the insurance industry and appreciate how difficult they make life for providers and the insured. That said, I would have appreciated if this office supported pre-authorization claims so that way clients know the financial burden they might be up against. In discussions with Tracy, obtaining pre-authorization is 100% the burden of the insured, even when obtaining such pre-authorization requires specific clinical information. In my particular case, my wife needed a crown on her molar. We have coverage through Guardian for crowns so I assumed all was well and assumed that Kendall, Rohde & Associates worked with Guardian to have an understanding of coverage. It turns out that the particular crown type used (ceramic/porcelain) only is covered for certain teeth in the mouth (not molars), so this procedure was not covered as expected (by me). Tracy's position was that I needed to call my insurer to determine coverage and eligibility, articulating specific billing codes and discussing the specific teeth affected, so that I would have had the information up front. Perhaps this is my naivety in that I assumed dental offices would submit the pre-authorization (not unlike you see in other medical practices), but apparently, this is not the case. It's unfortunate this soured my experience with the office but I will be seeking alternate care and focusing on how the office is managed along with the dental care provided.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Fonseca is incredible! She is professional, explains things clearly, and is very affectionate with my children, who can get quite nervous when they come in for a cleaning. The dental hygienists are all great, too! We couldn't be happier at Dr, Kendall, Rohde and Associates!

Fantastic experience: As always- they are the best!!! Our whole family loves Dr Rohde and all of the staff. We moved to Ojai and willingly make the drive to see all of them! Even my 9yr old asks when she gets to go back! Update- right now we now live further away and we still come to this office because everyone is amazing. We drive over an hour and don’t mind doing it.

Positive experience: Great dentist, thorough and kind. Clean, modern office however, make sure to independently check your insurance to verify in network provider. Instead, I called the office to verify my insurance coverage prior to my first visit. After my visit, I received an unexpected large bill. Turned out Kendall and associates is not an in network provider for my insurance. Lesson learned. However, they did work with me and adjust the amount which I greatly appreciate. I would definitely continue care here if my insurance coverage allowed.

Fantastic experience: Never thought I'd be giving a positive review as I've been with the same wonderful Belizean dentist for 24 years I was very wary of going to another dentist, as Dr Gamaro in Belize is excellent! Had to have a crown done and normally I would pop down to Belize to get it done for $400, get a free vacation and be assured she'll do a great job. But it's hurricane season and hot and buggy. So I found this dentist and was very impressed. The shot was painless, the crown fits great! My first appointment for the temporary crown was punctual and professional. For the crown itself I had a 9am appointment to grind down the tooth, then an 11am to put the crown in. Both times I was being attended to by 5 minutes after, very punctual and I was in and out quickly and even able to work in between appointments. And apparently the price of $2400 is not excessive for the States. It's the next day, I experienced little to zero pain or discomfort and was very happy that all 3 appointments were PUNCTUAL so you don't spend your time in the waiting room worrying about what's coming. Very nice experience.

Fantastic experience: I can highly recommend Kendall and Rhodes. I used to go to Kendall and Rhodes when I lived in Santa Barbara, but when I moved to Ventura, I switched to a more local doctor. I had a root canal by a root canal expert in Ventura who indicated that I needed to go a regular DDS to have a cap. I scheduled the appointment which entailed two appointments two weeks apart. This is a real pain in the neck as I remembered that Kendall and Rhodes uses a 3D image to CNC a new crown in an hour. I switch appointment to Santa Barbara. When I arrived to the appointment they said that they could just fill in the drill hole with resin as nothing was cracked and a new crown was not needed. This is a difference from $2000+ to just $400, done the same day and no pain. How many dentists do you know who would forgo $1600+ dollars of easy money for the health, safety and convenience of their patient? I will continue to make the drive from Ventura to Santa Barbara just for services of Kendall and Rhodes. The office is extremely modern with the latest equipment supported by staff that is current and highly trained. It is a win-win situation.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Kendall and her assistant Lynn are amazing. Almost 14 months ago I discovered that the rod on my crown broke. Lynn was warm, welcoming, and encouraging. She explained the steps I needed to take to get it repaired and even fought on my behalf with the dental lab. I’ll be sad to see her retire at the end of 2024. No one loves having dental work done, but Lynn and Dr. Kendall make it enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: I needed an old crown replaced, and the whole process was so pleasant. Dr Rohde is an incredibly gifted dentist, and explains everything so well. Knowing what is happening, and why, is an important part of patient advocacy. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: This was my 1st visit to this office. I was greeted by Marlene who did all my x-rays & other things necessary for a new patient. Dr. Rhode came in, reviewed all information, examined my teeth & answered my questions. Laura then performed my cleaning. Everyone was nice and I felt very comfortable and welcomed.

Fantastic experience: Can't go wrong. Got a same day crown of high quality, fits great and feels durable. Same day as in a few hours, and a molar. Wow that's fast! Quite a bit better than the old West days... Cleanings went fine too, no complaints.

Fantastic experience: Dr Fonseca is the best! She is fabulous with children and a talented dentists. My kids LOVE her and love going to the dentist because she is so lovely.

Fantastic experience: Dr Rohde cares about the health of your teeth and gums above all. Hence his choice of treating cavities and gums with noninvasive practices like laser. Unfortunately I had a big cavity under my crown that went half through the tooth and this is too late to be treated with laser. Then he advised me to go for implant once the canal root was treated and decay is happening. He also spotted a small cavity under the veneer. Again laser cannot do anything. Sad I could not take advantage of this progress in dentistry 20 years ago.

Fantastic experience: Hadn’t been to a dentist for years. Don’t like going, however Dr Farkas was a pleasure, he was interactive, good sense of humor and told me as it is. Much appreciated. Also the hygienist was excellent.

Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with the dental hygienist, Noe! It was one of the best dental visits I have had! I hope they keep him! The front end staff has also been very pleasant and helpful!

Fantastic experience: It was my first time with Dr. Rohde. I was very satisfied, and also with Sonia, the hygienist. My former dentist was relatively fine, but the billing was never clear (for almost 20 years!), so I decided to look for another dentist and I tried Dr. Rohde. I like professionalism and simplicity, and clear bills. I think Dr. Rohde and Associates will provide these to me.

Fantastic experience: I had the absolute best cleaning experience of my life in there today. Terry was the sweetest lady ever and she was unbelievably gentle during the cleaning process. No aggravated gums, no blood, no pain, and I left with a big smile on my face. Definitely consider yourself lucky if you get her because you’ll know you’re in good hands! :)

Fantastic experience: Dr. Kendall is an excellent dentist. She’s straight forward and always makes me laugh. She lets you know exactly what she’s doing each step of the way, which calms me down. She’s helped me navigate some difficult dental situations the past couple of years. I drive an hour to go to this dentist, because they’re that good!

Fantastic experience: I have had nothing but positive experiences at this office, particularly with Dr. Kendall. She is kind-hearted, professional, knowledgeable, and gentle. She develops an individual relationship with each client; I feel safe and confident in her care. The front staff is also really nice, and they have great local artwork up. The office also has top-of-the-line equipment and technology. If I could give 6 stars out of 5, I would!

Positive experience: Hygienist was lovely as was the front desk staff. The space is very nice and inviting as well. However, I ended up with an unexpected bill for full mouth x-rays. When I called my dental insurance, they said this is only covered once every 5 years and I had had this done already within that timeframe. I myself am a healthcare provider and understand from the other side how challenging insurance can be, but am blown away that the office told me that I should have been aware of this even though they didn't ask for dentists' notes from the last 5 years, only from the most recent provider I had seen. I felt like I was provided an unnecessary service and then asked to pay for it. Even so, what prompted me to leave a review was that when I brought this up to billing the staff they were incredibly rude, short, and not understanding, placing all blame on me with a very defensive attitude. I understand it's not an easy job dealing with people frustrated by the insurance system, but do not see any excuse for that sort of behavior. Will not be returning and would not recommend purely based off of this interaction alone.

Fantastic experience: Everyone is always so wonderful and personable! Today I had Sonya who was terrific and, of course, Selena is always fabulous. Great to see Dr. Kendall and I’ll be back in 6 months. Highly recommended this office!
