Fantastic experience: I have been getting my teeth cleaning at Downtown Dental for over a year. And I can’t say enough how grateful I am to have had Jo, Ken, and Dr. Sheik as my care team. Jo is a super kind and warm person to talk to, she explains each step as we go, and in some ways, through her tips, I have re-disciplined myself to take care of my oral health. All and all, Jo, Ken, and Dr. Sheik take the time to listen, explain things clearly, and ensure I am comfortable.

Negative experience: Bad business practice. Out $200 for a cleaning. Gave me x-rays I was not due for rather than asking for records from previous dentist or checking with insurance that I am due for them. Called to ask about it and all she had to say was “well you signed something saying you would be responsible for any services not covered by insurance”. I am sure I did sign something generic like that, but it is still very bad practice and I feel scammed. I was also pushed to get the laser cleaning. Just extra money out of my pocket. I am now out almost $200 for a simple cleaning. Cannot recommend.

Negative experience: Took two months to get a crown - still the wrong color and poorly placed. The front desk people never return calls. Go anywhere else.

Negative experience: As a long-time, flexible client of Downtown Dental, I’m baffled by how they treat clear emergencies, such as a growing infection next to a recent procedure, as routine appointments. They refuse to prioritize patients who may be at serious risk due to complications from their own dental work. I’m leaving this review to ensure no other patient is treated this way. I managed to get an appointment, but it’s a full week out. I would not recommend this office for dental care, as they offer no emergency follow-up once a treatment is done. For example, if a crown placed just a day earlier falls off, or if an infection develops, they’ll simply schedule you for the next available slot—which could be a weeks away. By then, it might be too late to avoid further complications. That said their dentists are very nice people, it’s their office operations that sucks.

Negative experience: While the actual dental care here is great the Dentists/Hygienists themselves are skilled, patient, and professional. The front desk experience has been consistently frustrating. I’ve had multiple issues with billing errors and unexpected charges. Each time I think it’s been sorted out, something else goes wrong. It feels like there’s a serious lack of organization or communication on the administrative side. It’s really unfortunate, because the dental service is solid. But dealing with the front desk has made me reconsider whether it’s worth coming back. I hope they can get their billing and scheduling systems in order, because the clinical team deserves better support and so do the patients.

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible actually finding a new practice, I had a brand new crown put in sept of 2023, the crown came out 10/14/24, and downtown dental did the crown in 2023, when I got the crown, it was replacing one they did work on in 2014, I was assured in 2023 the products used to make the crown and the cement used, would guarantee no more crown coming out, unfortunately my crown came out only a year later, now I feel it’s highly unfair to charge me full price for a product they didn’t do correctly, and remember they’re the ones that put it on, $417 plus what I had to originally pay out of pocket from the crown in 23, I’m also making a report to the BBB! Don’t go here!!! Update as 6/14/25 the new crown they put in 10/15/24 has also fallen out

Fantastic experience: I have pretty terrible dental anxiety which makes me an absolute nightmare of a patient to deal with but downtown dental has been so kind and patient with me, especially Irene. She really helped calm all my fears without making me feel crazy or invalidated, and even sat with me after my filling to go through all of my concerns instead of rushing me out of the room. Dr. Sheik and Irene make an amazing team, I felt like I was in good hands and they made sure I wasn’t in any pain or choking on any water throughout my filling. I felt like a priority and like I had their full attention which is always appreciated when there’s a bunch of drills poking around your mouth. I also didn’t feel judged or shamed for the state my teeth were in which really helped ease a lot of my anxiety. They even called me after my appointment to check in since I was worried about pain or needing a root canal. 10/10 experience for me!

Fantastic experience: I trust the dentists and hygienists to do a fantastic job on my teeth. I most recently saw Ken who gave me a great cleaning and who almost made me forget I was at the dentist with his positive attitude and conversation. Negative experience: I visited for routine cleanings, but unfortunately, the scheduling has been mishandled three times. This has made the experience frustrating, and overall, the service quality has not met expectations. Check out is extremely long, I have waited an hour just to check out. Would not recommend the services to new patients.

Fantastic experience: I was a bit anxious after not having been to the dentist in a few years, but Johanna, the hygienist that I saw, was so kind and compassionate during the x-rays and cleaning. I was completely at ease. She talked me through everything she was doing and checked in throughout to make sure I was feeling ok. My teeth felt so smooth afterwards! I am incredibly thankful that my first visit back to dental care in a while was such a great experience! Then I saw Dr. Noor who was also very friendly and thorough. I did have some follow-up treatment to schedule, but she also seemed conservative, explaining what should be treated now, versus what we could wait and monitor. I appreciated that approach. She also answered all of my questions. Everyone else in the office that I encountered was really friendly and considerate. They seemed to all get along really well, while also maintaining a very professional environment. I’ve only had one visit to Downtown Dental (loop) so far, but based on that experience, I would definitely recommend it - especially if you see Johanna and Dr Noor!

Fantastic experience: I had a terrible toothache and needed immediate assistance. I called Downtown Dental and they told me to come on in. Dr Bobak did a complete and thorough review, advised me that a root canal has potentially failed. He let me know what options were available to me and provided me with a referral for follow up action. I am very happy with the professional service I received from Dr. Bobak and the staff of Downtown Dental.

I had a new hygienist named Becky and she was fantastic. Very gentle and considerate and at the same time very thorough. Fantastic experience: I was greeted when I came in, I was treated with respect and dignity. People were smiling. The atmosphere was not tense, it was rather inviting. The hygienist and dentist were exceptional and I thank God for them. I have a lot of anxiety about the dentist and they put me at ease. Negative experience: Been going here over 10 years. I'd give more stars because the dentists and hygienists are great, but they rarely seem to stick around. Probably because the past few years this office became more about billing than actually providing professional dental services. 6 months ago after surgery several stitches were missed and left in my mouth. The office did not return my calls after they told me they would, causing me to remove the stitches myself. And now I get bills for services on dates I was not there, I call the office and can't get an explaination. I'm told (4 times now) the manager will call me back. She has not. This office is more about billing than providing health care. Still no call back from the office, but downtown dental continues to send me bills for services they never provided. Reviewing the bills I've also found charges for x rays they never took. This place is shady.

Negative experience: Came in for a routine cleaning and oral check up exam. Overall there were no major issues with the experience. However upon reviewing my dental insurance explanation of benefits (EOB) I found dental code D1330 listed as a service which is oral hygiene instruction. It is my understanding, this "service" is for the dental/hygienist to review and explain how to properly brush your teeth and floss. I don't recall receiving these instructions and if I did I certainly do not recall my dentist/hygienist mentioning that this would be an additional charge. This charge is completely unwarranted for my case since I do not have any cavities, that aside this is at best a very questionable business practice. If this office is willing to engage in such a questionable business practice, it stands to reason what other questionable practices they have for more significant procedures. I will be seeking alternative dental care and I recommend everyone do the same. It is clear this office prioritizes financial interests and not patient care.

Negative experience: I’ve been going to Downtown Dental Loop for three years after a friend recommended it because of its convenient location near my office. However, my experience has been far from ideal. The office feels very unorganized and impersonal, with a constantly changing roster of doctors and cleaning technicians. It’s more like a “Grand Central Station,” with over 25 chairs (give or take) and no personalized service. I rarely see the same doctor twice, which makes it difficult to build trust or continuity of care. The quality of their work has been disappointing. The detail and craftsmanship are subpar, with results that don’t last. The person who did my implants was unprofessional and did a terrible job; thankfully, she’s no longer there. However, the office doesn’t stand behind their work, which has been frustrating. On top of that, they frequently mix up billing, causing unnecessary confusion and stress.

Negative experience: BEWARE! You have good insurance go elsewhere. Front desk staff very unprofessional. Fraudulent billing practices. I continued to go here after my dentist left the practice…first red flag. Biggest mistake. It’s the office staff and management who make this place unbearable. Please be careful if you move forward here.

Positive experience: I like the dentists here, and Dr. Noor was wonderful. She was patient, kind, and gentle. I like being treated by the dentists here. The missing one star is that every time I have to talk to someone about an estimate of benefits, I end up feeling like I am stupid and despite asking many questions, even asking them to explain it to me in "normal" language, it is still not communicated to me in a way that's accessible or helpful. This has actually caused me to go elsewhere for treatments because I thought it would cost less, then later after asking AGAIN on follow up visits, it actually would've been the same. Ive never had that with other offices and am not sure what the trouble is with explaining things clearly so that patients don't have to stress about payment and finding somewhere else to go.

Negative experience: Horrific Experience. Unfortunately, this dental practice is nothing more than a scam outfitted by poorly qualified “dentists.” The doctor claimed I had 2 cavities and I dutifully had them “fixed.” I have returned 3 times for followups. First, she left extra cement all over my teeth. A very unpleasant experience because it had to be ground off, then on followup visit #2, she claimed they weren’t sure why I was having pain in my mouth and checked and realized still more cement had to be ground off because my bite / how my teeth rested on each other had been changed by her “fix.” Then when I am yelling in pain on my 3rd followup, she tried to tell me I might have nerve issues. Scammer. I had no issues, no pain until this “doctor” decided to “fix” my “cavity” and caused daily pain with chewing. I think my favorite advice from her was maybe you should just “google it” when I asked what caused teeth yellowing and just chew on the other side of your mouth. After months of just chewing on the other side of my mouth and shooting pains if I try to chew normally, I am beyond upset with this horrible “dentist.” My teeth feel all rough where she worked and sharp because she clearly has no skills or proper training. So if you only need a tooth cleaning then they are okay, but it’s basically like going to a discount doctor who will scam you with treatments but are wildly unqualified to do anything except clean your teeth. Avoid at all cost.

Fantastic experience: I use Downtown Dental since 2008, I am very happy with there Services. In past I was always sacred to go to the dentist now I am ready to go anytime. Negative experience: Disappointing Experience with New Dentist and Poor Service I had been a loyal patient at this dental practice for many years because of the exceptional care I received from my previous dentist, who was phenomenal in every way. She was a great listener, had fantastic bedside manners, and truly cared about her patients' needs. Unfortunately, when I went in for a routine appointment recently, I found out—while already seated for my cleaning—that she was no longer with the practice. No one had informed me of this ahead of time, and this marked the beginning of a terrible experience. Since I grind my teeth at night, I rely on a custom-made mouthguard, something I've been using since I was nine years old, so I know how they should fit and feel. Very few years you'll get a new one made. During the appointment, I expressed my preference for the traditional method of fitting the mouthguard, as it has always worked perfectly for me, but they insisted on using a new scanning technology instead. The result was disastrous—the mouthguard didn’t fit at all, and when I told them, they dismissed my concerns and told me to "just force it in." It was painful and clearly the wrong fit. After several weeks of waiting for a replacement, I returned only to be handed another ill-fitting mouthguard. Again, I was told to just "get used to it" despite repeatedly saying it was uncomfortable and would alter my bite. Unfortunately, after following their advice, the mouthguard did exactly what I feared—it changed how my teeth fit together and even altered my jaw alignment. Throughout this entire ordeal, I felt like no one listened to my concerns. The staff, including the assistant and office manager, were indifferent and showed no urgency to resolve the issue. I left the practice feeling like nothing more than a walking paycheck rather than a valued patient. I will never return to this office and cannot recommend it to anyone seeking attentive and compassionate care.

Fantastic experience: Downtown Dental makes going to the dentist a pleasant experience. My dental hygienist (Alex) for today's visit was polite, experienced and took time to answer all of my questions. I even managed to get on a laugh or two. No shame, no pain. Just a great practice.

Fantastic experience: I’m so happy I was referred to Downtown Dental - Loop! The hygienist and dentist who serviced me were both wonderful. The cleaning was not painful at all and I am looking forward to my future appointments.

Negative experience: I had a terrible experience at Downtown Dental Loop with Dr. Cummings, and I strongly advise everyone to avoid this practice. A year ago, Dr. Cummings recommended and performed an immediate dental implant, which quickly turned into a nightmare. Both my primary dentist and I noticed early on that something was wrong with the implant, but when I brought this up during a follow-up appointment, Dr. Cummings dismissed my concerns and told me to wait until it "fully recovered" in six months. By then, I could feel the implant shifting in my gum just by touching it. Six months later, the implant was removed, and Dr. Cummings performed a bone graft procedure, telling me to wait another six months for recovery. Now, eight months after that, I've been told that the implant has failed and, even worse, that I am not a good candidate for implants in the future due to bone loss. This entire ordeal could have been avoided if Dr. Cummings had taken my concerns seriously from the beginning instead of making reckless decisions that have now cost me my chance for proper dental care. Throughout this time, the office showed a complete lack of professionalism. My emails were ignored, Dr. Cummings was consistently late to appointments, and the front desk staff were rude and dismissive. Despite the significant pain, time, and stress this failed procedure has caused me, Downtown Dental Loop only offered a partial refund, which is completely unacceptable. This office does not care about its patients, and Dr. Cummings’ irresponsible approach has left me with long-term damage and no viable solutions. I highly recommend staying far away from Downtown Dental Loop if you value your health and want to be treated with respect.

Positive experience: While I appreciate the welcoming staff and the pleasant environment at the clinic, I am concerned about the protocols for dental assessments and treatments. It is quite perplexing that after an initial examination by a dentist, who determines a need for a tooth extraction, an additional consultation is required. This consultation, unfortunately not covered by insurance, involves merely confirming the initial diagnosis, often in a matter of seconds. I find the necessity of paying an additional fee for such a brief confirmation to be quite unreasonable. It raises concerns about the efficiency and patient cost implications of the current healthcare practices. I believe there should be a more streamlined process that does not incur unnecessary costs to the patients.

Positive experience: The paperwork that was sent prior to the visit was confusing and was not possible to complete prior to talking with someone. I am an organized person and pride myself on being on time or early for appointments. I did not like the 6 or more reminders sent via text and email. Other than those things, three office visit was fine.

She is very thorough and informed me of everything she was doing as she went along & I love being informed! I learned a lot during my visit & returning there for all my dental work.

Fantastic experience: Wow! 10/10 for sure! I’m very grateful for Danny Mendoza. I didn’t think a quick conversation about the health of my teeth would lead to this amazing experience. He helped answer all my questions and provided great tips on how to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Initially I had some fear since I hadn’t gone to the dentist in over 20 years but he helped me overcome that fear by just coming in. Overall great customer service and glad to say my teeth and gums are in good shape.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to downtown dental for over two years and it’s been a great experience! The office is very efficient and organized. My most recent appointment I was very impressed with my dental clean up done by Becky! She was very friendly, professional, and attentive to detail. She demonstrated exceptional knowledge and was the best hygienist I’ve ever worked with! I recommend to anyone looking for a new dentist in the Chicago land area.

She walked me through everything that was going to happen before it happened. She ensured I was not in any pain, and her demeanor was calm and professional. Positive experience: disappointed with how the dental practice is managed. I felt like I was on an assembly line. Since Dr Patel sold Downtown Dental, everytime I go, there is a different dentist who pops in for a few moments. People are friendly and doing their best under this assembly line. Also, I am visually, and physically impaired. The door to their office is heavy and fortunately, often a patient leaving will hold the door for me to enter. Otherwise, if I fall trying to hold my cane and their heavy door, I might fall and injure myself. They seemed to be more interested in making as much profit as they can at patients expense

Positive experience: Downtown Dental is very quick and always has appointments available. The staff are always pleasant to work with and very gentle with your teeth. The Dentists seem like they’re in a hurry to get to the next patient if you’re just there for a cleaning, but that has been similar to other dental offices I have been to. Unfortunately, the billing dept leaves a lot to be desired. They sometimes charge me for things that are covered by my insurance, like fluoride treatments. In general, they have a lot of hidden little fees that just leave a bad taste in your mouth.
