Positive experience: 4-Star Honest Review Dr. Mike McCormick and the staff are great, and this rating is not a reflection of their professionalism or care. It’s based on my personal experience that day and the fact that I’ve never been fully comfortable with dental procedures beyond cleanings and X-rays—they’ve always been challenging for me. This visit brought back some traumatic memories, which made it hard to relax—I was shaking from nervousness. For some reason, the numbing didn’t take well this time, and the water and air felt very cold, making the area even more sensitive during the procedure. Normally, I’m fairly relaxed at the dentist, but this visit was more difficult. The next day (today), the area is still sore, throbbing, and slightly puffy from all the injections used to try to numb me. I may be somewhat resistant to Novocaine, which is why I often prefer either laughing gas or full sedation for procedures like this—I just can’t seem to relax otherwise. I’m not leaving a negative review, just sharing my experience. The crown that was replaced was also difficult to remove, which added to the discomfort. I’m taking Tylenol for the soreness and throbbing, and I’m hopeful things will return to normal soon. I still recommend this office because they truly care about their patients and do their best to provide good care, even when the experience is challenging.

Fantastic experience: Family friendly is an understatement here! I actually felt like a part of the family from the first interaction with an employee. Fast and friendly service, without high pressure sales techniques. I walked in and the staff was prepared for my arrival. My paperwork was finished and, as if they were watching, I was called back for my appointment. The staff member introduced, themselves very clearly and guided me to my seat. After a quick and painless x-ray session, they cleaned my teeth and without any pressure, offered me future treatment options and asked if I had questions. Simple, Easy, Quick, Painless, Good Communication, Clean Facility. 10 out of 10 in all areas! Thanks Dr. Mike and staff for an enjoyable, dental experience!

I let her know that dentists usually make me feel uncomfortable, but she made me feel at ease throughout the whole visit. My cleaning went great! Then I met with the dentist, who was clear and straightforward about my diagnosis(wisdom tooth removal) and got me referred.. Overall, a really positive experience!

Positive experience: I love Dr. Mccormick and that's the only reason I gave a three star. I have been going here for years, and i absolutely love this office. My regular lady retired and the new one I was seeing wasn't in. I can't even remember who I seen yesterday. She was super nice, but talked so much that I was out of their in 20 mins for a cleaning, and I remember thinking I was only back here for 20 mins, when it usually takes closer to an hour. I just remembered feeling annoyed because I just got off a 12 hr night shift, drove from Suffolk and didn't feel like I got a proper cleaning. I just felt my time was wasted and I received poor quality as far as service. I've never experienced this before. Again the lady was super nice.

From the front desk, to the hygienist and assistants, to the dentist himself, and to the person with whom you reschedule, everyone here is nice and professional. Hands down the best practice in the area.

Negative experience: Took over 8 months to get a cavity filled and then they told me i will probably need a root canal because of how extensive it was, well if it had been treated right away that would have helped. Another filling needed to be replaced with a cavity. Took 2 months to be seen again. He said he would be surprised if I need a root canal to n the future because of how deep it was. Takes too long to get scheduled for followups

Negative experience: The staff is always friendly and engaging. However, the hygienist that saw me had a cold. While she was masked, she was constantly coughing while leaning over my wide open mouth and overall face. It became irritating ti the point i said “thank God for that mask!” It wasn’t until then that she decided to turn her head to cough. I found the exam and cleaning segment to be rude and the absolute worst part of my experience. We are nowhere near done with COVID, not to mention ol fashion common courtesy. I understand the need ti work but if you’re sick, make a business decision and take a personal/ sick day!!!!!

Negative experience: I called for a emergency appointment, because I was told they were accepting new Tricare patients only to be rudely told no and hung up on. If you are not accepting emergency patients or new patients at all, then take yourself off the Tricare finder site and put you're not accepting any new patients on your website vs call for a appointment.

Positive experience: Was not impressed with my last visit. First, I had to wait for my hygienist to finish her conversation with another hygienist to be called back. I was watching them through the glass door. Second, appointment was rushed. Third, over the past 25 plus years I received a bag filled with floss, mouth wash and tooth brush. Not today only an appointment card. Fourth told to sit in a receptioni room to make an appointment with the receptionist. If I had not looked outside the door l would of been forgotten. The same receptionist who will never answer the phone when you call her but will send threatening threats of 95.00 if you don't confirm. Most disappointing visit in over 25 plus years. Now for the positive. I have recommended this practice to so many friends and family. There is not a finer dentist than Dr. McCormick. Everytime he goes out of his way to make you feel appreciated. I have come to know so many of his front office associates and hygienist from the past and present. My children started with Dr. Allen and now travel from Northern Virginia and Richmond to see Dr. McCormick. Tomorrow was a situation that I feel should be addressed so that this never occurs with another patient.

Positive experience: The hygienist Caitlin was the absolute BEST!!!! She was extremely engaging, professional and got me in and out in a flash!! Christie on the other hand, she was borderline rude and could stand to listen more and talk less!! I was trying to get her to understand that I had separate dental insurance from my wife but she wasn’t listening and kept insisting that what she was looking at on her screen was the true story. The customer isn’t always right but they deserve to be heard!!!

Fantastic experience: I've been a patient for many years but yesterday I met Ms. Keisha. Ms. Keisha was my hygienist and she provided me with a thorough cleaning. It's the best cleaning I've had in a long time because of her thoroughness. She took the time to deep clean, which frankly I didn't realize I needed since I go to the dentist every 6 months. My teeth were clean, they felt clean and looked great also I didn't feel rushed out of the chair. My appointments never feel rushed, which I also appreciate. The front office, hygienist and Dr McCormick is always professional and polite. Office and exam rooms are always neat and clean. Great dental office.
