Negative experience: Dr. Richard and his son made this place the best. Since Moss took over everything has declined. Dr. Moss upon first time meeting a long standing patient was definitely no bed side manner friendly. The hygienist that did my cleaning the last several times was rough and talked more than she cleaned. I canceled an appointment and yet they still charged me $45 no show fee. I called to pay and advised person to remove any future appointments as I would not be back. No apology, didn't seem to bother her at all that a long standing regular client was leaving. Didn't ask why or try to ask me to stay.

Negative experience: Jake Bateman and the staff are amazing. People that truly care about your smile!! People helping people, with a great kindness and attitude EDIT !! THIS WAS FOR BATEMAN DENTISTRY!!! ANDREA MOSS - DISMISSED ME FROM THE OFFICE FOR ZERO REASON GIVEN. IN MY OPINION IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE FACT I HAVE TATTOOS AND DONT MEET HER STANDARDS. I STILL HAVE YET TO FIND ANOTHER DENTIST. I HAVEN'T HAD LOWER JAW TEETH SINCE April 2024. NO CHEWING .. SHE LEFT ME COMPLETELY WITHOUT A DENTIST IN THE MIDDLE OF TRYING TO HAVE MY TEETH REMOVED AND IMPLANT DENTURES PUT IN. DEVASTATING!!!

Negative experience: The lady on the phone was rude didn't let me finish my concerns amd hung up, based off of that I won't be coming your dentistry.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Moss Family Dentistry in Kingsport for about a year now, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The service is always fast and easy, which I really appreciate. Everyone there is so nice and welcoming—it makes going to the dentist a lot more pleasant! From the front desk to the hygienists and dentists, the whole team is friendly and professional. Highly recommend if you’re looking for quality care in a warm, efficient environment.

Negative experience: Very deceptive advertising for their office. When you click on the "website" it takes you to Bateman dentistry, which Moss bought in 2023, so the rave reviews are for Bateman and not Moss.

Negative experience: After Dr. Bateman sold this practice, this practice went downhill. Dr. Whittaker Moss is a joke. Do yourself a favor and find yourself a new dentist. I had been a patient of Dr Bateman for years and always satisfied with the care I was given. I went for my next cleaning and I saw Dr. Whittaker Moss. He spend a minute with me and had no personality. Also didn’t do anything for my toothache I was having. So disappointed in the care I received that day.

Fantastic experience: Jenny has been my hygienist for many years and is the only one I trust with my periodontal issues. Dr Whitt makes the visit comfortable and pleasant.

Fantastic experience: I never have to wait long once I check in. The hygienist, Whitney, is amazing. I have seen all the dentists in the office and every one is very informative, knowledgeable and caring. The lady at the front desk, Christina, is an asset to the office. I never have to give her my name, she knows it. She is a gem, personable and always very sweet. She is one of the reasons I continue to go there. I used to have such a fear going to the dentist and avoided it for way too long. That all changed once I went to this office for a wisdom tooth issue. It is a half hour drive from my house but it is worth the drive for me. I am patient for life.

Positive experience: Receptionist does not “fit” with the rest of the facility… argumentative and a downer; also responsible for charges not applicable. Check your accounts! This advice is from more than two encounters. The remaining staff are courteous, helpful and genuinely engaged. Could not be more receptive and do a great job. Shout out for Christina ❤️ She is calm, helpful and patient- has your best interest in mind. Give ‘em try- even though we miss Dr Rick greatly.

The dentist came in as soon as she was done and discussed my results. I was given my next appointment and I was on my way. You don’t get any better than this! I was very pleased.

Negative experience: After the buy out of the practice I won’t be back. I have went to Bateman for at least 6 years with nothing but good feedback and results. Unfortunately after seeing my new dentist I have now had nothing but problems. I never felt fully informed about what or why I was having work done. I didn’t listen to my gut and now it has led me to my first root canal. I was told the wrong tooth needed a root canal. If I listened to the advice of the dentist I would have had unnecessary work done. I will have to see a periodontist to have work done to fix the damage to my tooth. Followed by further treatment by a dentist. What happened to me is now going to cost me THOUSANDS of dollars to fix(insurance will not cover). Bateman dentistry is just no longer a safe fit for me.

Fantastic experience: I am convinced that every position at Bateman Dentistry has the job requirement of, "Must be an incredibly nice, welcoming person," because that has been my experience in my years as a patient here. When you think of a dentist's office, a lot of people would imagine a very boring, clinical experience; when you're a patient at Bateman, you're immediately greeted with a warm welcome and catch-up (Christina!), and in my experience, I've never been in the waiting room longer than 10 minutes, and even that is rare (though, I'd gladly wait longer for their service!). My hygienist today (Whitney!) remembered me well from prior visits and is an absolute joy to converse with, and is stellar at checking in with you during your cleaning. She clearly prioritizes your comfort and needs rather than trying to push you out the door for the next appointment, and it's endearing and appreciated. Rather than jump right into cleaning, Whitney made sure to ask if I had any issues or concerns since my last visit, and made sure to thoroughly examine the area I described. It is refreshing to have a medical professional take your concerns seriously without a handwave, and Bateman has always been wonderful about this. Whitney (and every other staff member I've seen) are PAINLESS and FAST - on the right day, I could fall asleep during a cleaning. Coleen checked me out at the front desk following my visit, and once more proved that all of the staff here are just good people that don't see you as a walking pair of teeth. Let me say this: I'm an introvert at heart, and could gladly go through my entire day without a conversation; I LOOK FORWARD to my visits here, because of the people. Christina, Whitney, and Coleen - thank you and sorry if I misspelled your names!

Positive experience: ** 2nd Update: Dr. Andrea Moss called and removed the late fee and apologized. The fact that she reached out and went above what she had to is very appreciated. *Coming back to update my review. I don’t like leaving negative reviews and impacting business however, I feel like this one is justified and needs updating. I had called in a few months prior to request an appointment for a tooth that was bothering me. I was told that I had a cleaning coming up and they would look at it then. They stated they couldn’t work me in due to being understaffed and booked out several months. The tooth wasn’t unbearable so I decided to wait it out. My cleaning appt came along, I work early AM hours. I got a text last minute asking to change my appointment to 30 minutes earlier. There was no way I could make it on time due to work and stated that I couldn’t make it. I called in and asked to keep the original and was told by reception that I couldn’t keep the appointment that I’ve had scheduled for over a year and would have to take the earlier one. My appointment had to be cancelled. The part that really aggravated me was I received a missed appointment bill in the mail. I thought no big deal, I’ll call and let them know they requested a change and have it be removed.. So.. I call and ask if this can be removed, I was told no, that I missed the appointment. I missed the appointment because THEY wanted it changed the morning of. I tried asking further questions and just kept being told that it was basically my fault. I’ve had a lot of work done here by Dr. Jake, he was the BEST dentist I’ve ever saw. This place used to be 5 stars, I’d give it 1 or 2 now. Dr. Jake kept everything running perfectly and checked in on everyone in the office, I witnessed this while there for appointments. I’m not sure what happened to the customer service and proper flow of office procedures but it went out the door when Dr. Jake did. Sadly, I’ll be looking for a new dentist within the area. Original: Dr. Jake is great, as always. The staff is always wonderful as well.

Negative experience: I dunno what happened…. It was the only local office I liked. Granted I only ever saw Jake, he did AMAZING work on my bridge, I went back to the office to get a loose filling fixed. I was there for over an hour and sent home with a “to do” list. Nothing was done about my filling. I wasn’t given an appointment to come back to have it fixed. I was told to call back when I wanted to have my crown work done (not the same tooth) and that they were booked up until June or July to get in for that. They are on the same side so they wanted to do them at the same time. Sorry I don’t know how you expect me to wait months to get this fixed. I made an appointment to have this fixed and you sent me home with a broken filling and a bill. Could have at least addressed the reason I was even there.

Negative experience: I used to love this dentist when the original dentist was here. Now that it’s the husband and wife I will never go here again. I have very bad anxiety and bad experiences with dentist but Mr. Bateman understand and worked with me. The new dentist that is there, the husband, was told I had very bad anxiety and I would cry and be very anxious. I had a filling done and I was very scared after the filling he called my mother into a back office and asked her personally if I was autistic. I am not autistic, I have very bad anxiety when it comes to dentist. Whenever he was doing my teeth it felt like he was rushing to get it done and he was nothing like Mr. Bateman. All the new dentist cares about is money and it shows.

Fantastic experience: Great as always! I have been a patient of Dr. Rick Bateman for his entire career - he has been/is a blessing. Ms. Jeni is my dental hygienist who is absolutely amazing. Recently, I have started seeing Dr. Whit Moss and I am very pleased with his knowledge, skill, and manner. We are blessed that he and his wife are operating the practice in Dr. Rick's retirement. I think his patients are in good hands.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Dr Bateman at this location since 1995 when I was 5 years old! Sometime in the 2010s, his son Dr Jake Bateman took over, and also great! A new young dentist has recently taken over (I’m sorry I forgot the name), and she is excellent too! I really appreciate the short wait times, and the fact that all treatments are done in totally private rooms. The new dentist recently did a difficult filling for me, and I really appreciate her compassionate approach, even as I had a lot of anxiety and pain. I cannot recommend this dental office enough!

Negative experience: Gone here for years, and really going downhill. It doesn’t matter what they charge or whether insurance covers it or not, they will tell you that there is an outstanding bill no matter what. Very unorganized with appointments. Might be time for a switch

Fantastic experience: Diane was an excellent dental hygienist and the dentist (one of the new dentists, female, I forgot her name) was professional and personable. Even though I got less than exciting news, the visit was a very pain free and positive experience and I am acutely concerned about oral pain, ( there was none). The wait was only a few minutes and the paperwork required was less than I expected for a new dentist. The only thing that I saw as negative is the fact that they have an 8 month waiting list for appointments. Although I went on a will call list and they were quick to call me when an opening occurred, it is an opportunity they need to address.

Fantastic experience: Dr Bateman is awesome and excellent with chickens! I was very afraid of going to the dentist office prior to coming Dr Bateman, after my first visit with Dr Bateman I'm more comfortable going to the dentist and my blood pressure doesn't go through the roof. You won't find a better dentist around. My only concern is for the lack of client input when it comes to partials- the type, what they are made of. They chose metal without inquiring as to my opinion. I'm more conscious about it than I was the missing teeth. It sits in its cup 98% of the time I dislike it so much. Reminds me of the metal mouth guy in 007. It's hideous. My only disappointment with him, otherwise Dr Bateman is great, especially for those who have had really bad experiences with dentists before.

Positive experience: Dr. Jake is an excellent dentist and hygienists are great. Here is the problem I am having that is making me frustrated. When I call to make an appointment, there is no way to talk to an actual person. This has changed from how it used to be. I have to leave a message however there is no follow-up call. To actually make an appointment I had to physically go to the office. This is ridiculous and not good for business in my opinion. I have had to do this once already for an appointment. I need to reschedule that appointment and after several days wait I guess I am going to have to go by the office again.. I don’t know of another doctor’s office that I have used that I have had this type of negative experience. Please follow up with patients or let us talk to an actual person when calling.

Fantastic experience: I was terrified of the dentist due to past experiences. This office has gone above and beyond to make me comfortable even when I have had a couple freak out moments. It’s taken 3 months to finish my process so that I have healed safely and not rushed any part. I know have a beautiful, healthy smile that I am so proud of. All the staff are friendly, considerate, patient, and very knowledgeable. My preteen was seen today by Dr. Jake Bateman and came home very happy and positive about the experience. They've always been good with kids and I'm happy to know that it hasn't changed in 3 decades now.

Fantastic experience: Everybody was really nice. Had a root canal done and didn't feel any pain at all. Dr. Jake talked to me and told me what he was doing during the whole process. Definitely recommend him for a root canal!!!

Fantastic experience: I have not had any work done yet as I just switched to them. I went in scared as I always do. Childhood fears. Everyone was really friendly and Dr Bateman is a Braves fan. I decided to use them because of the reviews and several people I know recommended them.

Fantastic experience: Awesome hygienist! Does what’s best for you each and every time. Wonderful personality and easy to talk to. Father/son Dr’s Bateman and Bateman are so good and enjoyable to talk too, you don’t even realize your in a dentist office. The best!! Been here 27yrs, still coming back as always! Fantastic experience: Dr. Bateman and his staff are truly a business of perfection. The process I have gone thru re: upper dentures has been a delight (something we don't normally say about dental work). I have driven over 300 miles (one way) 3 times to use his service based on another dentist recommendation, one more visit and we will be done. Professional, caring, he is a true artist and cares more about perfection than I ever expected. Using their service will have no disappointments. Fantastic experience: I genuinely enjoyed and appreciated the cleaning. The lady that completed the service did a thorough and detailed job, and was also very pleasant. Dr. Jake Bateman is one of the best, if not THE best, dentists I've ever known. His technical skills and practice give me confidence in my oral and dental health and his "bedside manner" is comforting and encouraging. UPDATE 11/17/20 - ANOTHER great visit. Best practice in town! UPDATE 2/10/21 - Kids' visit. It's extraordinary when kids actually like going to the dentist! UPDATE 5/17/21 - ANOTHER great visit! Why go anywhere else? UPDATE 7/14/22 - LOVE IT!

Fantastic experience: Outstanding experience. I had one dentist in CA for over 40 years and I found my dentist today for the next 40 years (I would be 105 years old... it could happen!). Young Dr. Bateman (Jake?) has a great bedside manner and Brittany was a thorough and gentle hygienist. I'm there for the duration!

Fantastic experience: Today was my first appointment with Bateman Dentistry. I went in for a check up and cleaning. The receptionist was friendly and efficient and my hygienist, Brittany, was excellent. She was gentle but thorough and gave me the best cleaning I’ve had in years. Dr Jake checked my teeth after Brittany was finished and gave me a overview of my dental health and some advice on avoiding future problems. I was really impressed with my first visit here. I had to wait several months for an appointment but I think waiting was a smart decision.

Fantastic experience: I got a cleaning done today and this place is WONDERFUL. I usually deal with social anxiety pretty badly but the ladies in the front office and the lady who did my cleaning made me feel so comfortable. Fantastic experience: My first visit to this office was pleasant and uneventful. Diane, the hygienist, is good at what she does and is very busy because of that. I met Dr. Bateman who seems very nice. My teeth are in good shape; so, I basically will be seeing Diane. This office is very busy and takes months to get an appointment.

I had a horrible experience years ago at another dentist so I developed a fear and avoided going anywhere for years!
