Negative experience: Schedule me for 2:30pm and they had me waiting for over 30 minutes while they took other patients that arrived after me in.

Fantastic experience: My family have been with Family Choice for over 15 years. We have had nothing but the best care from the office. They have always worked with us when accommodations were necessary due to disabilities and medical issues. I recommend them to everyone.

Fantastic experience: Hands down best experience ive had at a dental office. Front desk staff was kind and helpful, assistant was gentle and let me know what the process would be like from start to finish. Dr was knowledgeable and took the time to answer all my questions, making me feel heard. Absolutely recommend 10/10!!!

Negative experience: The girls in the front are very rude and unprofessional! It’s called family choice and they don’t even seem to have the patience for smaller children that are in the office with their families!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming for many years. Dr. John has always been so kind and helpful and done a great job on my treatment and his staff is amazing. I highly recommend.

Negative experience: Approximately two weeks prior to my appointment scheduled for July 18th, I received a call informing me that they were unable to accommodate me, even though the appointment had been arranged during my previous cleaning, about five or six months earlier. They inquired if I would be amenable to rescheduling for August 20th, which I agreed to. However, a week before the rescheduled appointment, I received another call stating they couldn't fit me in and would need to reschedule again. I will not be returning, as it was not the most satisfactory experience, and the only reason I continued going was due to its convenience. Perhaps I should consider going elsewhere for better service.

Negative experience: Dr male is unprofessional and so rude I would never take my daughter!!!

Fantastic experience: I am dreadfully scared of dentists. But Doctor John and his staff were amazing when I needed to get a tooth extracted. I'm definitely going to come back for all my other dental needs.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been seen at family choice for 23 years, I can’t say enough amazing things about Denise at the front desk. She is so helpful, so kind and has such a pleasant attitude all the time. Karina my hygienist was so gentle and considerate after I told her about wisdom socket tenderness I’d had for the last year. Dr John has been my doctor since my first visit at family (kids) choice and I hope they know how wonderful they are I consider this practice family.

Negative experience: Had an appointment this morning for a root canal, everything was okay they numbed me in the room for a good hour before doing or starting any work, the male doctor was very rude when he did come in, at one point he had ran over my hair multiple times with his chair didn’t apologize instead got mad when i moved my hands to hold my head from getting pulled more, he also pinched my lips and was just being very aggressive at that point from frustration because he had stated he was behind. It got to the point where he was pushing down on my face and was just very uncomfortable at that point that i had asked them to take everything off and that i was going to leave. This isn’t the first time i had problems with this same male doctor, the first time i had went he was very rude not only to me but the ladies helping him.

Fantastic experience: Dr John was the best, he did my molar root canal it was painless and he did a good job I would highly recommend if your on a budget and wanna keep your teeth they work with you it was 645 for my molar root canal plus another 895 for crown but trying to keep my teeth

Negative experience: Nice front desk staff!! All the dental assistants, hygenists and dentists are great. Doc. John is the best!! Update: May 2025. Service has gone downhill. The front desk staff is not friendly and too busy chit chatting and ordering food to do their job and not check me in which caused me to wait over 20mins for my scheduled appt. I had to go ask them what was taking so long. Only then did they check me in.

Negative experience: Someone needs to shut this place down already. It’s a complete joke. I originally took my boys from this place because they didn’t let parents go back which was a horrible experience for my kids. So I took them to a better kid friendly place. Unfortunately I stayed around (for just my dental needs) because I didn’t want to invest my time somewhere else. Today was the last straw. I swear I told myself when I pulled up why do I continue to do with this place!!! And sure enough I go in to some bullshit. Don’t waste your time here there are plenty more way better dental offices!!!

Fantastic experience: Been to a few dentists in my day and this one really is the best I’ve been too. My daughter and I both come to be seen, the staff is always so kind and reassuring for my daughter and so helpful and understanding with me. I love doctor john who’s so kind and educated and really impressed me with his knowledge. The office is always so clean as well just a 10/10 experience with this business.

Fantastic experience: Hands down this dental office has been one the best that I have been to. Not only are the staff very kind and patient, they work with you on getting scheduled quickly. I had couple high priced dental work that needed to be done and they helped me out with trying to get a good price so I could feel comfortable with my smile again. They are very informative. As someone who doesn't have the perfect teeth, I felt absolutely no judgment and that was always something I hated about dental offices. I would definitely recommend family and friends. A big THANK YOU to this dental office for helping me feel better with my teeth!

Negative experience: Horrible place would never go there again. They have horrible scheduling, they will make you wait over an hour for your appointment before you are seeing. They will constantly call to have you reschedule and you’ll have to make multiple appointments to get things done. I’ve had to have three appointments. They could not do my cleaning the first time and just did X-Rays, made an adjustment for my cavities and the another for my cleaning. Showed up for my cavities one which they had me push back and had to then had to cancel my cleaning appointment so I can schedule another cleaning appointment and cavity appointment because they could not get everything done the first time.

Negative experience: Took my son in and it was the most traumatizing experience for him and for me and my wife , 1. Didnt give us any other opption for hus teeth exept for 6 crowns . 2.didnt let us stay with him or comfort him before they put him under 3. Pre crowning they srapped him down letting him cry for his parents then put him under instead of leting the parents make sure hes okay before the procedure. Also treated us like we were ignorant and unedicated worse place for the kids.

Fantastic experience: Staff is amazing! From X-rays to cleaning and getting my crowns done! They got me in fast and have been amazing with all my dental work. I’m sensitive with going to the dentist and the dental assistants are amazing with making you comfortable. Office manager is awesome and I can’t forget Dr Jon as well!

Fantastic experience: We’re able to fit me in for a check up right away. Staff were very helpful and polite. Dentist was knowledgeable and straightforward (which is what I would expect from a professional). Scheduled me in within a couple weeks for my procedure. Which, I believe, is very quick considering the Thanksgiving holiday.

Fantastic experience: Dr. John and his staff are so incredibly friendly and professional. They saw me on short notice, gave me a dental exam x-ray and teeth cleaning for $50 and got me in the same day for an urgent orthodontic appointment. I’m so grateful for his care and special attention to my dental needs with the time constraints I got everything done in one day. Thank you Dr. John and all the staff at family choice dental!

The staff have really made going to the dentist office painless. I really have to give them credit for everything they have done for me and my son’s dental needs. I had been going to another dentist for years and they never addressed my problems. The first visit here they quickly let me know what was going on and came up with a plan to get it fixed. Negative experience: Worst dental office ever. Receptionist has an attiude, if you dont like your job quit... They can't get their act together and won't let parents go back with their kids. Ummm, I don't know any of you dental techs, and I will not let my child go unattended to a back office. Do not take your family here!!!!

Fantastic experience: Best dentist in the 505, Dr John. If you are like me and fear dentists he’s the one you need to go see. He helps calm your anxiety and walks you through everything that he is doing. Most gentle hands I normally bruise badly after dental work and I do not bruise with him. Can’t even feel the shot at all!!!! He has built my trust back in dentists and I’m recommending him to anyone who asks for a good dentist. Thank you to the staff as well for providing the environment that gives off great vibes.

Louisa the office manager is a sweetheart and explained very detailed every step of the way including the cost of every procedure. Totally spaced on the assistant that was in room with me but she was super friendly and helped me SO much with the anxiety I have of the dentist office she made my wisdom tooth removal a breeze along with the Dentist who is very fast and friendly and explained everything as he did it.. I have very high anxiety when it comes to Dentist office and visits due to a bad experience in past BUT will for sure be returning for all future visits

Negative experience: The manager at the front Desk is very rude. I was scheduling my next appointment and an older gentleman was wondering why he was paying more than what was quoted to him and she went on to say well since your complaining I will tell you that you should have actually paid more due to this and that. If she would have been talking to me like that I would have not been as respectful as this gentleman. You should hire another manager or have her take a customer service ethic course. To respond to your comment that wasn’t not the scenario your manager was actually trying to figure out who had wrote that quote because it was completely wrong stating the customer should be paying even more and like I said she needs a customer service course because people go to your business and should be treated with respect. Don’t worry if she ever encounters me with that disrespectful attitude I will make sure to bring to your attention right then and there. Have a great day ;)

Negative experience: Today we went back to see about my sons cracked tooth another Dentist before that had did his fillings there. My son is 5 years old and level 3 on the Autism spectrum. Mind you they have you consent to restraints for disabled children or beings and you cannot attend with them which is absolutely cruel and unethical. Well of course my son freaked out and when I went back there he was crying . They said they will have to refer him out and I said well what do you expect from a 5 year old autistic child???!! Had I been given the chance to be there this could have been avoided. Of course this is up to the doctors to decide to allow a parent. Dr Ruiz responded with a snarky comment in to which she responded with I have obligation to protect my staff with no empathy at all. Well you know what?!! I have the right to protect my son from money hungry agency’s ready to bill my son’s insurance but not accommodate because of his disabilities. DONT BRING YOUR DISABLED CHILDREN HERE THEY ARE NOT PROPERLY QUALIFIED TO BE HANDING DISABLED CHILD PERIOD!!! when I took him to Route 66 dentistry that same day they could not believe they put my son in restraints and were able to see all of his teeth. This dentist knew what he was doing and was nothing short of amazing and empathetic to us my son is being scheduled for emergency surgery this Friday! Shame on you DR Ruiz for the way you handled your self and treated my son!! You have no business dealing with children at all and I’m not done there. I will be making a complaint to his insurance for discrimination. All the staff and assistants and receptionists were amazing but not the actual Dentist Dr Ruiz!!!! Absolutely and completely unacceptable and unprofessional behavior. DO BETTER!!

Negative experience: The people are friendly, but some of their practices do not make sense. I will not return here for myself and especially not for my children. When I did go in I never met the actual Dentist. I have no idea who did my exam or my kids' exam. They just sounded very knowledgeable, but they were not the actual Dentist. They also require that a child goes alone to subsequent exam. That is outrageous and unheard of! Needless to say but going to anyway for review purposes, I will not be returning to this dental office.

Fantastic experience: I should of Never went for a quick fix at another dentist. They gave me a filling with No cleaning, The filling cracked within 3 months. I called Family choice on 98th St and they gave me a faster time to fix my cracked tooth by 2 weeks, even though the other dentist messed up. Family Choice also offered me my Insurance approved cleaning, And Family Choice Fixed my cracked tooth after my cleaning. the same exact day, on a Friday. Now I can eat for the weekend, without being in pain. Love this place. Thank you so much❤️

Negative experience: Myself, husband and daughter all went for fillings. We were all in severe pain afterwords and for several days. I have a scab on my gums from where they gave me a cut. They treated my daughter terribly because she was scared. Also the receptionist is very rude. We will never go back. I would have given them zero stars but that was not an option.
