Fantastic experience: My Doctors at Northstar Family Dental recognized that I had an infection. They were very concerned because of the pain and made my visit a priority! I was sent to their office in Westerville, and they made an appointment for me within the next 3 days! I am happy to say that, while I had to have the tooth removed, my pain subsided. I am very comfortable with the thought of an implant. I appreciate the professionalism, care and urgency the Northstar Family Dental staff provided!!!

Fantastic experience: I do not trust dentists at all. However, I can say that this office went above and beyond to earn my trust and make me and my daughter feel comfortable and at ease. They gave us a tour when we first got there to see the office and even gave my daughter a present since it was her first visit with them. They appeared to have the latest and greatest in technology and everyone there from the office staff to the hygenists to the dentist herself were friendly, caring and wanted to help you and to be honest, put me at ease. We were initially there for an problem, but I wanted to get my daughter's teeth cleaned as well and they told us we would have to schedule that for another time when I made the appt. I agreed, but when we got there and they looked over my daughter's situation and gave their recommendations they ended up having a spot open for a cleaning and ask if we had the time to get it done now so we didn't have to wait. They were really about putting the patient's needs first and I appreciated that greatly.

Negative experience: My family and I used to go here when we lived in Westerville. We’ve moved to Marysville but had trouble finding a dentistry that would still work with our insurance so we decided to make the drive and come back to Northstar. Upon making our appointments this week I asked if they still accepted our insurance and the answer was yes, no problem. We arrived today after loading up 3 kids, my husband taking off work, and then driving 40mins+, for them to inform us that, in fact, they no longer accept our insurance but we could still pay out of pocket?! Really?! Nice bait and switch. Very disappointed that they could not bother to call and tell me this over the phone. Poor customer care and very unprepared.

Negative experience: We really liked this dental office at first and had been patients for at least 8 years, but will now be moving to another dental office. While we have never rescheduled or missed an appointment during our time with this office, they decided to cancel the appointments of our two children the day of because we did not respond to one of their 50 reminder texts they send. They did this without actually speaking with us. As working professionals, we took the day off to have these appointments we scheduled only to be told we canceled it based off not responding to an automated text. It feels like they are more concerned with trying to grow this business too quickly than taking care of their patients. Constant attempts to upsell services for things like botox, etc. For this, they have now lost 4 patients. it seems like they are always short-staffed lately, probably because of how they manage their business would be my guess. I cannot recommend anyone go to this dentist now. This is not how you treat patients. The appointment was confirmed the moment we made it. I won't be cancelling the other standing appointments we have, I'm sure they will figure it out when we don't respond to a random automated text on a weekend.

Fantastic experience: Had my cleaning today with Mahi! He was very thorough and gentle! My teeth felt so clean when I left! The doctor was also very thorough and spent time talking to me and answering my questions! Highly recommend!

Negative experience: My experience with usual dental technicians is great, but I would like to say the male technician I had July 14th missed cleaning alot of my teeth and did not polish every tooth. He seemed to rush through the steps and I wasn't satisfied with the cleaning. He spent more time talking then cleaning.

The dentist explained my X-rays very thoroughly and the assistant who did the x-rays was very professional and made sure I was comfortable. Very unique experience starting with a gift bag of coffee cup to welcome me, to a neck pillow for comfort during the x-rays! I highly recommend Northstar!

Fantastic experience: Texted office that I had arrived and received return text to come in. Door opened for me to enter and did the health screening check, Hygienist was ready and took me back to her station. Made sure I was comfortable and started cleaning my teeth. The device used to keep your mouth open during cleaning is a little uncomfortable, but makes the process go a little faster and keeps your tongue out of the way. Discussed having my teeth cleaned more often as my insurance would cover 3 clearings per year. Dr K reviewed my teeth and advised of a couple of things they would be watching. Check out was easy and appointments made for future visits. Annual visit for X-rays, cleaning & exam. Greeted by name when entered. X-rays taken, teeth cleaned. Hygienist notice a troth with part of filing gone. DR K reviewed and advised that tooth should be crowned. Able to get it scheduled before the end of year. Advise of cost and insurance coverage. Will only bill when it is known exactly what insurance will pay. Dr K spent all the time needed to be sure I understood the problem and solution. 1/6/22 Visit to install crown. Everything went smoothly and was out of office in 20 minutes with instructions for proper care. 08/03/23Visit for cleaning. everything went smoothly. 06/05/25 Annual visit for cleaning and X-Rays. Discussion with Dr Kulisa on options for tooth that needs to be pulled. Took the time to be sure I understood the options.

Fantastic experience: Our son has a huge phobia of the dentist & reponds poorly to many medications.The dentist who he met with him was wonderful & the staff are really great & friendly with good communication. We did not realize our son is a "fast metabolizer" and DR. Kulesa identified his problem. It has been a game changer knowing why he reponds so poorly to sedation as well as our daughter. The office is extremely knowledgeable and our son was so impressed with his new dentist. I think his fear has decreased alot. Dr. Kulesa is extremely smart and caring. Thank you for your kindness & understanding of patients who have issues with dental work. She diagnosed his problem when not other dentist could ! My husband is a doctor and realized we had an issue with both kids but it just didn't click until Dr. Kulesa confirmed his suspicions.

Dr S who’s always kind, knowledgeable, & cheerful, came in to get my tooth ready for the crown placement. The hygienist quickly & competently cemented & placed my new crown. Dr S came in to make sure that everything was perfect, which it was. I am eternally grateful for everyone’s caring attitudes. This is why this practice has a 5 star rating. Fantastic experience: From the moment I walked in I was welcomed and my hygienist was so thorough but gentle at the same time, Dr Coughlin was warm and make me feel secure when sharing my diagnosis. And that Cheryl’s cookie was the icing on the cake. I love love Northstar and definitely glad i chose them as my dental office!

Negative experience: This place does a fine job of cleaning however it is quite off- putting to get voicemails and text messages that if you don’t confirm your scheduled appointment that it just gets cancelled automatically. How about giving your client/patient of over 5 years some grace that they will show up. It’s also extremely difficult to get an appointment even 6 months out. Frustrating!!

Negative experience: They tried to tell me my insurance refused to pay anything for a crown. Then they said it would only cover 35 %. I called the insurance company and was told that I was covered by 50%. But, unknown to me, they weren't in network!!!! They said they took my insurance. How was I suppose to know they were out of network..They wanted me to just hand over over $3000. BS. Going anywhere else.

Negative experience: Caused a lot of pain to my daughter during the regular dental cleaning, she was in pain rest of the day, her gums bled during evening brush as well. This was perhaps an inexperienced hygienist.

Negative experience: I am so sorry to write this review. I traveled from another state to Ohio, mostly because of the great reputation of this dental office. The courtesy of the staff at all levels was up to par. However, I ordered a gold crown for a dental issue that needed to be fixed. When I returned for the installation, the appointment was moved to another location (Lewis Center), which I interpreted as the first sign of a "change of plans." The doctor showed me a pinkish crown just before the installation, while I was lying down. Unfortunately, some materials cause me sensitivity, so I was really hoping they would stick to the original plan. I consented to the installation because it was not explained to me that the crown I was shown was to notify me of a change in the material. As I feared, extra sensitivity started immediately afterward. I found it odd to have such a severe reaction, until I received a letter from the insurance company stating that Northstar billed the procedure as a "porcelain" installation. I called the office, and they clearly remembered me consenting to the change when the crown was shown to me. I find it strange that they remembered the visual consent (but not the audio), and yet they don't recall me specifically ordering a gold crown. At the very least, I expected to be notified of the material change. This experience has been disappointing. They offered another appointment, but at this point, the relationship with Northstar is broken.

My assessment: OUTSTANDING. Hygienist Kenzie and Clinician Ashley were gentle, informative and gave me a "10" treatment on the 1-to-10 scale. I have seen Doctors Coughlin and Otieno. When Doctor Coughlin was working on my Crown, she would give updates as to how far along we were. It was relaxing enough I could have fallen asleep. NorthStar definitely will be my permanent dentist(s)

Fantastic experience: The best dentist office ever! They receive you like if you were a celebrity; with enthusiasm, kindness and professionalism. They even have a present for first visitors(I had one :D ). The lady who cleaned my teeth was exceptional. I did not feel pain and her ability to use those dental tools are remarkable. The doctor is also amazing. She explained in detail the next steps, answered all my questions very nicely and shared the different options I had. I’m glad I found them :)

I went to another dental practice for 20+ years, I wish I would have transferred to this dental practice years ago! Fantastic experience: I had my first visit to Northstar Family Dental a couple days ago. I was greeted at the door by Olivia. She gave me a quick tour of the front office which thought was very nice. They have a gift for new patients which is a very nice touch. I was hoping for some candy but seeing it’s a dental office it made sense there wasn’t. :) I don’t remember the hygienists name right now and I feel terrible about that. She was very professional with her explanations of their services and processes. Cleaning was a breeze! She’s did a fantastic job and I know I’ve found a new dental home! Over all it was wonderful experience.
