Negative experience: This place is a disgrace! One doctor tells me he can not help me while the other doctor says she can. Now I have been waiting 4 months to get a broken tooth fixed. Now that I finally have a referral for surgery can not get them to send over my treatment plan. No one there knows how to fax paperwork or do their job correctly! I will be reporting this to the better business bureau as well

Fantastic experience: Moving to PA from Jersey it’s a big difference. I found the perfect dentist Smiles 4 keeps they are awesome. They took care of my son really good he felt so comfortable and you can tell they care. They even talked to him about football . I would definitely recommend them. My son had no pain and had several procedures done. We will definitely stick with them. Thank you Smile 4 Keeps.

Positive experience: The dentist are nice here however the 3x that I came into this office you’ll see the front receptionist just talking. They can see you waiting and they will continue their convo & even talk in front of you. I think it’s rude. For a busy place with almost 4 girls in the front desk it shouldn’t be just 1 taking customers while you’re waiting even 1 minute to be called with 4 ladies in the front. They have to do better with receptionist.

Negative experience: I had a 3:30 appointment, showed up early, waited one hour before I walked out!!! She asked if I wanted to reschedule, I have never waited so long for an appointment! Would not recommend place to anyone!!!!

Fantastic experience: My nephew was so comfortable with Dr. Kathy and Ieesha Rosh. They did an amazing job and he never wants anyone else but them when he has a visit!

Fantastic experience: I want to personally thank Angel and Joshua for being super patient with my daughter today. They went above and beyond to keep her calm and reassured throughout the entire process. If she needs more dental work we will be requesting them to assist with her procedure.

Negative experience: My appointment was for a 6 mth check up for my child. I would like to begin this review positively by stating that the staff were very kind to my child. With that being said, the hygienist spent less than 5 minutes cleaning my child's teeth. It was very hectic within the exam room with multiple children being seen right next to you, with a half frosted glass plate in between each child, making you feel that your child was in an assembly line. Dr Albert La Torre was the dentist who evaluated my child at the end of the cleaning. He and the hygienist consulted away from me. He then began to question me related to my child's Tongue-tie (ankyloglossia). Explained multiple specialists we have seen, and per recommendations of ENT we have taken a more conservative approach to see if this would resolve. He instantly dismissed what I had to offer and began, in what I felt was an unprofessional, be lidding manor, on how he should have had a frenectomy awhile ago and what more evidence do I need to know that this needs to be done. He then stated that he has done hundreds of these and doesn't understand why ENT are so reluctant to complete the procedure. He then looked at me and said directly did you ever hear of a second opinion. Post the cleaning he left and then I was consulted by the hygienist who began to tell me that my child needed a silver crown on a baby tooth in the back along with a potential crown on another tooth which they will further evaluate when first crown is in place. Proceeded to tell me they will use Nitrous Oxide to put him under to complete the procedure. One would think that something like this would have been discussed with the dentist not be left to the hygienist to show xrays and try to identify the area in question and explain what I was looking at. Needless to say we now will be going for a second opinion but not to an ENT but to another dentist. My only advise to anyone, is to proceed with caution, always know you have the right to a second opinion and never allow someone to talk down to you.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday, I took my two children to the dentist for the first time, and I was truly touched by the experience. The office was immaculate and created a warm, welcoming atmosphere. One of my children is 6 and level 1 autistic, and the other just turned 4, so I was a bit anxious about how they would react. We were called back in about 13 minutes, and right away, we were met with such kindness from Caitlyn, Elaine, and Brenda. Their compassion and empathy were extraordinary, and I truly believe that if more dental professionals exhibited their level of care, it would alleviate so much anxiety in this field. They took the time to comfort my children, providing them with goodie bags filled with fidget toys to help keep them calm. Their patience and encouragement were remarkable. They listened to all my concerns, which made me feel supported and understood during what could have been a stressful situation. Honestly, this was the best dental experience I’ve ever had, and I wasn’t even the one receiving treatment. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone. Their commitment to creating a compassionate environment for families is truly unparalleled.

Negative experience: Terrible service upon wait time. Wasted 2.5 hrs in a routine cleaning. Dr Al is not punctual at all. Poor organization and scheduling management. Will not be returning to this location. Will resume the Bartonsville location which is much more organized and prioritize their patients in a timely fashion.

Fantastic experience: Priscilla went above and beyond today, to see my sons emergency bump on his gums.

Negative experience: I want to express my deep concern about the traumatic experience my 4 yr old granddaughter, endured during her recent dental appointment at Smiles 4 Keeps in Scranton. They referred to this facility by her dentist. The appointment was scheduled for 11:00 a.m. My daughter believed would be put to sleep for the procedure. Instead my daughter informed when I walked in that they already went back and Karmen was given Benadryl and she didn't know what was going on. This struck me as highly unusual. We then waited for two hours before any explanation. When I asked the hygienist, she said they needed X-rays first to develop a treatment plan and only one parent was allowed back. Her father and I sat back to wait for them. A little while after Victoria texted him that they were going to pull her tooth without putting her to sleep I was alarmed because she fears the dentist and might not cooperate. When they finally came out of the room both were visibly upset. My daughter told me they used local anesthesia on top of the benadryl but also restrained while she was crying and blood was smearing. She said the doctor wasn't comforting and looked annoyed at her response to the trauma they were inflicting on her. When questioned, the hygienist said, “It’s normal—kids act like this.” Upon check-out, my daughter was told the co-payment was $238. After asking for clarification because it was private insurance the receptionist looked it over again and magically the bill was now $141.00. I told her I would pay half and that's it. I felt like after waiting three hours to have my granddaughter tortured was enough. The entire experience felt abusive, and the combination of restraint, lack of clear communication, emotional harm, and billing issues was deeply disturbing. I have since learned that Smiles 4 Keeps, like similar pediatric dental chains, receives the majority of its revenue from Medicaid rather than private insurance. This raises serious concerns that children from lower-income families—those least able to advocate for themselves—are being subjected to unnecessary, traumatic, and potentially unsafe procedures in order to generate profit. I also understand that Smiles 4 Keeps and related dental chains have been connected to lawsuits and public controversies in the past, including allegations of Medicaid fraud and abusive practices toward children. This isn’t just about one bad visit. These chains have been in the news before, facing lawsuits for inhumane care such as extracting teeth without anthesia and adding noise barriers so you don't hear the children crying and screaming in the back. There has also been accusations of Medicaid fraud. Kids should never be treated like dollar signs. Parents, please be careful where you take your children. And for those who’ve had similar experiences, speak up — this type of abuse needs to stop. FYI- For a toddler, giving Benadryl (diphenhydramine) in combination with a local anesthetic like Novocain (procaine) is a matter for strict medical control and is not a safe practice to undertake without a pediatric dentist's supervision. While Benadryl can have a sedative effect and is sometimes used in pediatric dentistry, it carries specific risks, particularly in combination with other agents. The risks of combining Benadryl and local anesthetics Central nervous system depression: Both Benadryl and dental anesthetics are central nervous system depressants. When used together, they can have an additive effect, increasing the risk of over-sedation, respiratory depression, coma, and even death, especially in very young children. Paradoxical reaction in children: Toddlers and young children may experience the opposite effect of sedation when given Benadryl. This can cause agitation, hyperactivity, hallucinations, and convulsions. Overdose risk: Giving an over-the-counter medication like Benadryl on top of professionally administered anesthesia increases the risk of an overdose. The total dose of all depressants must be carefully managed.

Negative experience: DO NOT GO THERE! All they care about is making as much money as they can from your insurance. My son had unnecessary crowns put on his baby teeth which caused him a lot of pain. A few months later my other son had a simple filling put in and then at his 6 month check-up had a cavity under the filling. They claimed that he didn't keep it clean which is BS. They know they did a poor job because all they do is overbook and rush kids out.

Negative experience: Had an appointment at 10 and didn’t get to the room until 12. It seemed like they made everyone’s appointment at the same time and then just took kids one by one. Last week we were told he needed to have a tooth removed and then this week it turned into 3 crowns and the extraction. Seemed very unnecessary and I wish I never let it happen. My advice is get a second opinion so you don’t have to watch helpless as your kid lays there screaming in pain having work done that doesn’t need to be done. Don’t make a follow up bc we are switching dentists and maybe consulting an attorney.

Fantastic experience: Thank you Elaine for an Amazing experience!! Elaine took my X-Rays. She explained everything thoroughly. She also ensured my little brother was comfortable considering he was anxious of having to get “another needle”. She attempted to help me take my jewelry off and was very patient. Thank you Elaine!

Fantastic experience: I didn't see the pediatrics but the orthodontics in going for braces for adults and they were fantastic (make sure to get a morning appt because they get over packed). The orthodontist was hilarious and so personable and the techs answered all my questions. The braces are on payment plans and they do the consult and radiographs free. They were overall just wonderful.

Negative experience: I called to ask for them to fax the referral they gave me to the oral surgeon who would perform the removal of my wisdom teeth. They told me that since it's been a while since I received the referral that I'd have to come back to get a new one. WHAT??? My wisdom teeth didn't magically stand up straight and grow in fine just because I couldn't get them removed right away. This is going to KILL ME and it's all Smiles 4 Keeps fault.

Fantastic experience: My daughter was in for a cleaning and check up. She was seen by Dr Kathy, Amber & Antonella. They were so polite and helpful with questions she had . They made her smile & laugh very comfortable & pleasant experience at the dentist.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to smile 4 keeps for years now. It’s the only dental place I feel comfortable going too they are very sweet and kind people there. Today I had Kaitlyn and Karen they were honestly the sweetest and explained everything for me in detail. As well as the everyone else who has ever took in care of me here. If you have ever been scared of the dentist or have been scared before like me this is the best place go. 10/10 experience all the time.

Negative experience: This place is absolutely awful .. they do not prioritize their patients in anyway , they also bite off WAY more than they can chew ! Waiting for over 30 minutes to be told there is 2 children before mine ? Why set an appointment you cant commit too? But if i was 20 minutes late to appointment i would be rescheduled ! My child waited 2 weeks waiting for her cavity to be filled to be rescheduled because they over booked mind you its now 10am and my child is fasting and being told to wait over an hour longer to be seen ! Awful

Negative experience: Do not take your child/children here! They do unnecessary work. They love putting crowns on teeth even if your child doesn't need them. The last time I went here they tried telling me my son needed another crown. This time I was extremely skeptical and thank God I trusted my gut and got a second opinion. They were seriously going to cap a completely healthy tooth! I am serious! When my son was younger they told me he needed 3 crowns and I trusted them and thought I was doing what was right. Then when they told me he needed another one something told me don't do it - get a second opinion. My son is 11 now and still traumatized from this place. It took many visits for him to even let his new dentist do x rays. Why they would want to put an autistic child through unnecessary dental work is beyond me. Parents educate yourselves about dental work - whats necessary and what isn't. If you have a bad feeling, TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS!

Negative experience: i was told the whole process would be u def 3 months, i was told they would call me when every part of partial was ready.i drove a hour to be told dentist wasn’t in even though appointment was made day before.. not one thing they said was true n they blame other departments.. feel free to go if u wanna wait at least a hour each appointment to be seen.

Fantastic experience: My son was in for some work on Monday and had two teeth pulled. He was so nervous before his appointment, but once again, Smiles 4 Keeps exceeded all our expectations. Their expert staff put us both at ease and my son came out of his appointment completely relaxed and with zero issues. He has had no pain at all and has no anxiety for his next visit! I'm so grateful we found Smiles 4 keeps and I tell everyone they should take their children there!

Fantastic experience: The staff really deserves 5 stars. They are so patient with my anxious little guy. He has a million questions and Elaine and Laura offer him thoughtful answers. He’s able to choose his favorite cartoon to watch. These lovely ladies provided him with a squishy ball to hold and sunglasses to protect his eyes. They talked him through the procedure which helps with his anxiety. Dr. Katherine is an amazing dentist. She talked about my son’s interest in Ghibli movies and Harry Potter. It put him at ease and he was able to be braver during the cavity filling process. She gave me clear instructions on teeth sensitivities and what to avoid in the future. At the end, Elaine provided me with the school excusal note and carefully went through what to do at home. Laura held my son’s hand and took his vitals throughout to make sure he was comforted and healthy through the whole session. We really appreciate everyone at Smiles 4 keeps.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday on May 12, 2025 my daughter was having a bad toothache, that she was dealing with for awhile and smile 4 keeps in Scranton take her ASAP that same day thank you Ieesha Tonic you got my daughter in so fast and now she’s all good.

Positive experience: Love the place just not sure why I had to panic yesterday at work to try and call to keep an appointment I made? I was told in my voicemail that it’s very important to call back by 12pm to verbally confirm it or the appointment would moved? I was at work? I had to quietly call from the bathroom? And what if I worked somewhere and couldn’t have my phone on me? I don’t think that’s very helpful to us parents who aren’t allowed phone use at work. I was worried about my son not having his appointment over a confirmation that apparently wasn’t even needed because when I called the lady seemed confused and said to me “oh it’s for tomorrow” like yeah that’s not what I said I said “For some reason I have to call and verbally confirm or it’s removed and I’m at work right now so I have to be very quick” having waited already 6 minutes for someone to pick the phone up. Again great place just why are we making issues for parents arise? We do not all work jobs that allow us to have our phones handy and able to answer and some of us are still working when you guys close.

Fantastic experience: This review is for Ashley in the Scranton office. I have three boys all different ages. I obviously frequent doctors and dentist also optometrist many many appointments every year. I’ve never once met somebody as compassionate, genuine patient and just overall kind as Ashley. I’m not sure if management is aware of how kind and correct to. She’s never once goofed. Anything up on our family and has always treated us like we knew her our whole lives, she never seems to have a bad day and I’m sure she does does but she’s so professional and kind and genuine that I can never say that I have ever seen her be anything but A+ kind

Fantastic experience: everyone was helpful and so nice our daughter has had some bad experiences when she was very little so she was nervous with a new dentist after being comfortable with the dentist she had but she loved it here and is excited to go back!

Fantastic experience: I went in because a filling had fallen out. Everyone was super friendly even though I hadn't had a cleaning in a couple years (I had been bracing myself for a scolding). They ended up having a cancellation and we're able to fit me in that same morning. I don't remember everyone's name that helped me, but they were all very kind and talked me through each step of the process.

Fantastic experience: I have always had a good experience here with my kids. All of the staff are great, helpful, very friendly.
