Western Dental & Orthodontics: Reviews
Negative experience: Waited about two hours for my brothers appointment just for them to call us up to the front desk & say we needed to reschedule because they are no longer taking appointments for the rest of the day.
Fantastic experience: They got me in super fast. Same day they did x-rays they took the time to fix my broken tooth. The next day they got me in to do a cleaning. I would say when it comes down to needing work done on your teeth they get thing's done, therefore I recommend them and there team.
Thank you for your wonderful review, Salomon! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a positive experience with our team. We strive to provide prompt and thorough care, and it's great to know that we were able to assist you with your broken tooth and cleaning so quickly. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Negative experience: Terrible service and the girl at the front desk was extremely rude completely off putting, I waited well over 2 hours to be seen this place is a joke.

Negative experience: Do not come here. I waited an hour to not even be checked in and I did all my paperwork online. When I had gotten there 20 minutes before my appointment at 10 a.m. i was told that they would be going to lunch at 12 and for me to come back an hour later and expected me to wait that entire time and not even be seen. I walked straight out and will never come back. They are extremely understaffed clearly.
Dear Savannah, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced at Western Dental & Orthodontics. Your feedback is important to us, and we take it seriously as it helps us improve our services. We understand how frustrating it can be to wait without being attended to, especially after completing your paperwork online. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope you might reconsider and give us another chance in the future.
Fantastic experience: The entire staff is always so friendly and informative. They are also very accommodating which is amazing since I have to drive from Redding. But I don’t mind making the drive because I always make it a fun time!! Thank you Chico staff, y’all are fabulous!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Fantastic experience: Myra was very helpful and answered all my questions about my paperwork without hesitation

Negative experience: So I had an appt scheduled..after talking with someone telling them I needed to have lots of teeth removed ..then I get there after driving an hour and a half to make it to my appointment..I get to the front desk to check in...then they ask me if I have a refferal..I said no not for there office..I had one for another place ..they asked to see it..showed them..and after waiting several minutes..they come back and tell me they can't do what's needed..and they are supposed to be an oral surgeon place..I wasted 3 hours driving back and forth..now why couldn't they ask me if I had a refferal etc on the phone when I was making the appointment? Very disappointed..and a waste of gas and time .as for the 2 stars..place was clean, staff was friendly..
Dear Misty, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced regarding your appointment. Negative experience: came in for my 10:30 appt for an exam at 10:20. turned in my paperwork and sat down. after waiting an hour, i noticed only one person had been called back. after waiting almost two hours, i was called up by the receptionist and told they could only do my xrays and no exam today. with a tight work and school schedule, it was a waste of my time and i would have liked to been told i was getting just xrays that day rather than wait and assume id be getting an exam done like i had scheduled. i ended up walking out and will not be rescheduling or going to western dental for anything in the future
Hello, due to the sensitivity of this matter, we currently cannot provide a public response. Our team is looking into the situation and once we’re finished reviewing, we will address any questions and concerns. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve the situation.
Negative experience: Horrible practice . Scheduling issues , waiting an hour in the airing room and being forgot about, unhygienic environment , rude uncaring staff , and they make you sign illegal contracts saying you won’t sue for malpractice . I’d rather be in tooth pain than have my jaw fall off from a horrible practice so I won’t be going here anymore . Every single staff member should be ashamed of themselves for how unserious they take their role in medicine .

Positive experience: They NEVER answer the phone! That's my only complaint. The dentist is great & everything but just trying to call an cancel or make an appointment is so frustrating. Been on hold for 35 minutes, tried calling 3 different times, still not answering, still on hold . . .
Hi Cassandra, thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear you had a positive experience with our dentist. We apologize for the inconvenience with our phone lines and are actively working to improve our response times. Your experience is important to us, and we appreciate your patience. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!
Negative experience: The office staff was good at explaining everything about my planned treatment, but the Dr who did my impressions was not only rude to me, but was also rude to the other people working there. If this "Dr." tries to put his hands in my mouth again, he's going to get biten. This guy should NOT be certified to clean toilets let alone practice dentistry. Don't be late or you'll have to reschedule. Plan on a minimum of 30 minutes to 4 hours past your appointment time to even be called back to one of the filthy exam rooms.

Fantastic experience: The Dentist and the Staff are wonderful. The Dentist is very professional and was gentle during my Deep cleaning. I'd recommend Chico Western Dental.
Thank you, J. Sylva, for your fantastic review! We're thrilled to hear you had a great experience with our dentist and staff. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Chico Western Dental!
Negative experience: This place regularly just lets people drive from out of town. & tries to get you to reschedule. Not. Fair. So annoying. Been waiting to be seen for over an hour at this point. 2nd time in 5 days. Because only had "time" for xrays the first time. Grrrr tried to tell us we should reschedule again! Nope!
Dear Melinda, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced. Your time is valuable, and we understand your frustration. We are reviewing our scheduling process to ensure better service in the future. Please reach out to our office so we can address your concerns and improve your experience.
Negative experience: Zero.Yes they are thorough to those to whom they have to convince that your mouth is going to fell apart if you dont get some treatment from them, that you don't even need
Dear Nic B, we're sorry to hear about your experience. Our goal is to provide the best care and recommendations based on individual needs. We appreciate your feedback and would like to address any concerns you have. Please reach out to our office so we can assist you further.
Negative experience: I come all the way from Redding for dental care expecting the staff to know what they’re doing but 90% of the time i go there its hours i have to wait and when its finally time to go back there they don't even know what they’re doing, i expect them to understand what to do and not have me waiting hours for 1 filling when i was told before that they could get more done but no. The place itself is dirty and staff is not nice, now im not saying western dental is a bad place buts its the people working there, do your job right. Im also speaking for other people who go there because i know its not just me with this problem I've seen many other reviews and its mostly 1 star which is deserved, i have also seen people lose their shit inside the place so that should tell you something western dental.
Dear Alex, we sincerely apologize for your experience at Western Dental & Orthodontics. Your feedback is crucial, and we take it seriously. We strive to provide efficient and quality care, and it's clear we fell short during your visit. We are reviewing our processes to improve wait times and staff training. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope to regain your trust in the future.
Negative experience: They have slow service. When you check in early or on time people coming in after you go first. Poor service.

Our goal is to provide timely service to all our patients, and we are sorry to hear we fell short during your visit. We will address your concerns with our team to improve our service. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Negative experience: Absolutely appalled over how this place is ran. Back in July I scheduled an appointment for an exam. I get to my appointment I wait 3 hours they do my X-rays and then I’m told I would need to make an appointment for my exam as they are booked up and can’t see me that day. I’m very annoyed but I understand things happen so I make an appointment for 2 weeks later. I take time off work and I go to my appointment and was told I didn’t have an appointment and they can’t see me. I showed them my confirmation and the lady just said oh that’s weird we still can’t see you today. Well now it is October I’ve decided to never go back there and today I get bill in the mail for an exam I never had they also charged my insurance for an exam I never had. This place is awful and I wouldn’t trust a single thing that comes out of their mouth
Dear Izzy, we sincerely apologize for your experience and the inconvenience it has caused. Your feedback is important to us, and we are committed to resolving this issue. Please contact our office directly so we can address your concerns and ensure this doesn't happen again. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Negative experience: They have no concept of customer service. Waiting time is unbelievable. Appointments are apparently bumped back by walk-ins. They've been trying to fit my dentures for 2 years unsuccessfully. They upsell services so be sure you review every procedure before they start. My advice, go elsewhere.
Dear Ross, we sincerely apologize for your experience and appreciate your feedback. We strive to provide excellent service and are sorry to hear we fell short. Your concerns regarding wait times and service recommendations are important to us. We are committed to improving our processes. Please contact us directly so we can address your situation and work towards a solution. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Negative experience: We had a 3:30 appointment for a wisdom tooth extraction. It was made by their main office a week earlier because our insurance had finally approved sedation. We received 3 texts to confirm the appointment and 2 phone calls. Finally at 4:45 they called my daughters name and proceeded to let us know that the appointment was made by mistake and we had not received insurance approval yet. We wasted all of that time. I took time off of work and my daughter missed some school to be there. If there was a way to give a negative Star I would!
Dear Sherri, we're truly sorry for the inconvenience you experienced with your appointment. We understand how frustrating this situation must be, especially after the confirmations. We are investigating what went wrong to ensure this doesn't happen again. Please reach out to our office directly so we can address your concerns and assist you further. Thank you for your feedback.
Negative experience: Showed up 20 minutes early for my appointment just like they told me too, ended up waiting 4 hours just for them to call me up and tell me they were just now checking me in and that the doctor just went on a break and that I could leave and they would call me when they were ready to see me. Why did you even make an appointment then ! How ridiculous. I will never come back to this place. The people were so unprofessional too , had no idea what they were doing . What a joke. I hope they don't stay in business much longer .
Dear Arthur, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your visit. Your feedback is important to us, and we are addressing the issues you raised with our team. We strive for better service and appreciate your patience. Please reach out to us directly so we can make this right.
Negative experience: Not seen the doc after over 3 hrs waiting. Then they ask me to reschedule and come back some other time.

We appreciate your feedback and would like to address this issue. Please reach out to our office directly so we can assist you further and ensure a better experience during your next visit.
Fantastic experience: 08/01/2025 - I wanted to update my previous review. I finished my treatment today and cannot be happier with the outcome. The front desk staff as well as the Dentists and Dental Assistants have provided me with an overall positive experience. It appears that I became a patient during an extremely rough period of transition and made some unfair judgments. I was never treated poorly or unfairly after posting my previous review, the staff and Kelly (The Office Manager) was understanding of my feelings and very professional. I saw better wait times after my 4th or 5th appointment (late May 2025) and excellent organization. The staff seems happier too. I wanted to take the time to update my previous review as Western Dental in Chico has made a very scary process easier for me. I appreciate their efforts. They support a lot of our community and I would recommend them to others. I thank them for being absolute professionals. I’ve gone here a few times and have had poor experiences with excessive wait times, overworked front desk staff, and miscommunications. I unfortunately am not the only patient who experienced this disorganized chaos; I saw several other patients waiting hours for their scheduled appointments only to be met with dismissive responses and zero regard for their time. The three times I’ve been here have been an absolute disaster. It shouldn’t be this hard to get dental work. I have to go to the Western Dental office on Cohasset in Chico, CA with my HMO insurance plan so I don’t have a choice in providers. I have contacted my insurance for another option because I do not want to pay these people thousands of dollars for dental work that may or may not get completed. I will say that Dr. Aleta is amazing, she makes me feel comfortable, takes her time and is very knowledgeable. If you have a choice go somewhere else. If you don’t and have had a poor experience, advocate for yourself and contact your insurance provider to lodge a complaint, submit reviews, etc. Hopefully they can change their front desk, and organization as their providers seem decent.
We appreciate your review! It’s fantastic to see that you had an exceptional experience. We care about your dental health and always strive to make every appointment a positive one.
Negative experience: Worst dentist office ever. This is the third time having to wait over three hours just to be called back. Not to mention the hour it takes the dentist to treat you. If you do have to go here you better bring food and prepare to be here all day.
Dear Nate, we sincerely apologize for your experience. Your feedback is important to us, and we are addressing the wait times with our team to improve our service. We appreciate your patience and hope to provide a better experience in the future.
Negative experience: Our experience here for all 4 family members has been terribly awful!! The waiting time is ridiculous, they cancel appointments all the time, they’re unprofessional rude and so rough! And possibly scamming insurance with taking unnecessary XRays! I’m never going there again! Zero stars! I agree with all the bad reviews here I just didn’t want to write a whole bunch of detailed history because it’s so much but DONT GO HERE!
Dear Lizeth, we sincerely apologize for your negative experience. Your concerns about waiting times, appointment cancellations, and the professionalism of our staff are taken very seriously. We strive for high standards and appreciate your feedback, which helps us improve our services. Please reach out to us directly so we can address your specific issues and work towards a resolution. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Fantastic experience: I hardly ever give a five star review but I have to say that the experience I had today was very good. It's been awhile since I've been to a dentist and I was really nervous and I do have a lot of health problems but the lady who did the x-rays and the dentist and the lady who did the paperwork we're very very nice to me. The dentist explain things where I can understand it and suggested what would be the best so I just want to say thank you
We appreciate your review! It’s fantastic to see that you had an exceptional experience. We care about your dental health and always strive to make every appointment a positive one.
Negative experience: We were given a 2:15 pm appointment and we drive an hour to get there just to be treated rude by the front desk and then told we wouldn’t get treated for our emergency dental work. She told us the lady who scheduled us was overseas. We wouldn’t have minded if the lady behind the desk had been polite, but to drive so far to not be treated and be treated badly left a bad taste!
Dear Lisa, we sincerely apologize for your experience and the inconvenience it caused. Your feedback is important to us, and we will address the situation with our front desk team. Please reach out to us directly so we can make this right and ensure you receive the care you need. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Negative experience: Do not come unless you want to spend all day in the waiting room that had blood on the seats. Seriously one of the most uncomfortable and disgusting experiences of my life. Staff is rude, waits (even with appointments) are extremely long. And to mention again, blood. On. The. Chair.
Dear Saron, we sincerely apologize for your experience at Western Dental & Orthodontics. Your feedback about the waiting room and staff is concerning, and we take it very seriously. We strive to maintain a clean and comfortable environment for all our patients. Please contact us directly so we can address your concerns and improve our services. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Negative experience: It's an overworked clinic who does their best to answer calls and see patients in a timely manner, but that does not happen. The call center overbooks the main office leading into hours upon hours of unnecessary wait time even with appointment. This office does not send over prescriptions in a timely manner. Cheap for basic services, but crippling debt for more expensive services (even with insurance). The inhouse financing is 14.99%, which is okay, but their debt collectors are unrelenting. The staff could afford to be more professional. If you have another option, go elsewhere, but dentists are hard to come across and WD is an option for life's emergencies.
Dear Chris, thank you for sharing your feedback. We apologize for your experience regarding wait times and prescription issues. We strive to improve our services and appreciate your insights. Your concerns about our financing options and staff professionalism will be addressed. We hope to provide a better experience in the future. Thank you for considering us for your dental needs.
Negative experience: Always the longest wait times possible. Over an hour to be seen (still haven’t been seen as I’m writing this) and I’ve seen at least two other people walk out for the same reason. Haven’t been here in over a year and it’s just the samez
Dear Marc, we sincerely apologize for the long wait times you've experienced during your visit. Your feedback is important to us, and we are actively working to improve our scheduling to ensure a better experience for our patients. We appreciate your patience and hope to serve you better in the future.
Negative experience: I’m very disappointed with visit. When scheduling appointment, I told them this was a referral from my Dentist because the don’t due implants. Before scheduling I confirmed the referral was approved and was told I needed to call Chico office for appointment. Upon calling I told them I was in need of a dental implant for front tooth due to broken below gum line, and was told referral was approved. They kept trying to schedule me for cleaning and X-Rays. I was then told I had to come to office for evaluation first. So I traveled 2 hrs each way to be told they couldn’t see me because I had Dentist, I explained that this appointment was for evaluation first implant with approved referral. I was told they didn’t have referral, I explained I had called office to confirm the appointment and all requirements were set due to long drive and was told I was all set. In the end was told only the implant Doctor could see me with referral which they claimed to know nothing about. So I drove total of 4 hrs for nobody to know anything.
Dear Linda, we sincerely apologize for the confusion and frustration you experienced during your visit. Your feedback is important to us, and we are committed to improving our communication. Please reach out to our office directly so we can address your concerns and help resolve this matter. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Negative experience: One star is too much. On June 10, I scheduled for an emergency extraction because I had two exposed nerves making it impossible to eat. I took time off of work and drove 1.5 hours to get there. I go to check in for them to tell me they can’t see me because I had an xray within the last 6 months without even asking what insurance I had. After calling my insurance, I confirmed that was incorrect. So they told me they’d see me. I sat in the waiting room for about 20 minutes before getting called back which is great. I get called back and placed into a room where I sat for two hours with no type of interaction. Finally, the dentist came in and told me that I was not in fact getting an extraction just a plan for care. Sits there, pokes the teeth that were causing me pain and told me to go schedule another appointment. I went to do so where I was ignored while in pain. Finally scheduled my appointment. That was on 6/23. I took the day off and drove back again, get there and sat in the waiting room for two hours past my scheduled time. Get called back, they tell me they recommend a bone graft due to the location of my extractions to prevent further damage. Told me they have payment options, entered my email and phone number & boom I’m qualified for $1,180 which ends up being the exact amount of the bone graft (???). I decline. Then I ask to confirm that I’m only having two teeth extracted. She tells me she has me down for four. I’m confused at this point so I ask which ones. 2 molars, a wisdom, and one that had been extracted years ago. I should’ve ran. I get back to the procedure room where I tell the surgeon that I don’t numb easily. He numbs me, leaves me for a bit, comes back to check on the status of my numbing. 2 of the 3 were numb but the third I told him I could still feel. He told me it was pressure and proceeded to start the extractions. The first two were quick and painless. The 3rd was NOT pressure. Nor did it want to come out. He quiet literally pulled me down the bed by my tooth as I’m screaming and crying in pain. I go home, day 2 a lump the size of a gum ball forms on the side with 1 extraction. They had forgotten to send my antibiotics. Here I am on day 4 still in excruciating pain, unable to eat or sleep, let alone work. Everyone there was also extremely rude. Would NOT recommend even as a last resort.
Dear Shayla, we sincerely apologize for your experience and the distress it caused. Your feedback is vital, and we take it seriously. Please reach out to us directly so we can address your concerns and ensure this is resolved. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Negative experience: If I could rate zero I would. The front desk staff has so much attitude and they're disrespectful. The Dr seemed like she was high as a kite off pills or something. She was moving slowly dropping the tools on the ground wasn't able to hook up the parts properly. I had to keep helping her so I can just get my x-ray done. Went in for a cleaning and all they did was x-rays and booked another appointment for the actual cleaning and discuss further what needs to be done. They didn't even put the appointment in the system. This isn't my first time coming here and every time I come it's a hot mess. The staff doesn't care about the patients. The office is dirty! They're all they're just for a pay check pretty much. This is the worst western dental I've ever gone to. They really need to be shut down
Hello there, we'd like more details about this. If you'd like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we're more than happy to assist you.
Negative experience: Not convinced this is a dentists office at all, it’s actually just a pump and dump insurance scheme for x rays. You will never see a dentist. Every appointment they make is a “recall exam” appointment that they don’t have time to actually complete, so they just do the x ray portion and give you another appointment to come back. Except they are so booked out that the appointment will be beyond 6 months, which is, you guessed it, the time you need x rays again. You will wait for HOURS. Multiple hours. They somehow make their overbooking your problem. Make the fact that the appointment isn’t what you want your problem. Do not come here.
Megan, due to the sensitivity of this matter, we currently cannot provide a public response. Our team is looking into the situation and once we’re finished reviewing, we will address any questions and concerns. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve the situation.
Negative experience: The people are nice, but don't plan anything for rhe rest of your day. Absolutely ridiculous. Go somewhere else if you can. 3rd time I have been here. Over a 2 hour wait each time. This time I am going on 3 hours.
Danette, we regret to hear about your experience with a long wait time. We understand how valuable your time is, and this situation sounds frustrating. Your feedback is important to us, thank you.
Fantastic experience: I was very impressed by Dr. Aleta. She was very professional and cared very much about the work being done. Beyond thankful for her !
Thank you so much for your kind words, Consuelo! We're thrilled to hear that Dr. Aleta made such a positive impression on you. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we'll be sure to share your feedback with her. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you again at Western Dental & Orthodontics!
Negative experience: my partner had an appt for 10 am and they didn’t call him back until two hours past and then made him wait another 30 plus minutes to pull his cracked tooth which they left a piece of it inside. not a good experience at all
Annika, we'd like more details about this. If you'd like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we're more than happy to assist you.
Fantastic experience: Receptionists are very kind and understanding, even they are busy they do the best to assist you. Dentist stuff are very supportive and proactive, they go beyond to take care of you right. You do have to schedule an appointment given some time to assist you. Don't take it personal if they delay a little off bit. I definitely recommend it..
Thank you for the 5-star review! We’re thrilled to know you had an exceptional experience with our committed team of dental health experts.
Sincerely,
Western Dental & Orthodontics
Negative experience: I had a 3:00 PM appointment at Western Dental and showed up on time, but when I arrived, the front desk told me they were very busy and might not be able to see me before closing. I was shocked since I had a scheduled appointment, and this was my first visit. It felt like my time wasn’t valued, so I chose to leave. Very disappointed with the lack of organization and communication. I won’t be coming back.
Janet, we truly regret to hear that you had a disappointing experience. Please know it's important to us that our team is courteous and helpful during your visit. Your honest feedback is important to us, and we genuinely appreciate you bringing it to our attention.
Negative experience: I scheduled months in advance on their website, they called me the week of the appointment to tell me they are closed that day and they have no openings for 3-4 months, i was at work busy so it was a voicemail, but I called back 5 minutes later only for them to let it ring for 10 minutes and then say no one is available and hang up. Not even a voicemail option. Basically its just really poorly ran.
Your input is valuable, and we are dedicated to enhancing our dental services. Could you please share more about your experience? Detailed feedback helps us identify areas needing improvement and ensures we meet our patients’ expectations. Please reach out to [email protected].
Sincerely,
Western Dental & Orthodontics
Negative experience: If I could rate 0 I would every time I come here I’m waiting 3+hours freaking ridiculous western dental do better and at least have the tv on if your gonna have us wait almost 4 hours for x raysi have been waiting almost 4 HOURS for just x rays and results RIDICULOUS
Lisa, we truly regret to hear that you had a frustrating experience. Your honest feedback is incredibly important to us, and we genuinely appreciate you bringing it to our attention.
Negative experience: DO NOT go here! This clinic is so unprofessional and they make three appointments for just a cleaning. I drive from far to come and they always do the same thing and make me drive for nothing! The manager Kelly is the WORST! She is so rude and unprofessional. She needs to get fired!! She told me to go elsewhere if I didn’t like their procedures.
Crystal, we truly regret to hear that you had a frustrating experience and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Please know it's important to us that our team is always courteous and helpful, during your visit. If you'd like to discuss this further or there’s anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we're more than happy to assist you.
Negative experience: I usually never write reviews for places but I am highly disappointed and upset about the experience I had today ! I originally had an orthodontist appointment scheduled for today at 12:00 THEY CALLED ME AND SENT ME MESSAGES TO CONFIRM SAID APPOINTMENT!! Just for me to show up at 12 to a locked clinic there were multiple others waiting outside as well !!! I then knocked on the door at 12:10 because that is ridiculous. Just to have an employee come out and yell at me “ can’t you see we are closed for lunch “ and I tried to explain to here that I had an orthodontist appointment here at 12 she then continues to yell at me and the other customers who were also there for a 12:00 appt that they don’t do 12:00 appts THATS NOT TRUE WHAT SO EVER !!! Every other appt I have had there was scheduled for 12 and why would they schedule and confirm said appt if they don’t do 12:00 appts!?!? THEN SHE TELLS US THE ORTHODONTIST SIDE HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR A MONTH!!!!! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS WHY WOULD THEY MAKE ORTHO APPOINTMENTS IF THAT SIDE IS CLOSED!?!?!? She then proceed to roll her eyes and slam the door on us honestly never had a worse experience in my whole life !! That woman’s behavior was disgusting and honestly made the whole place look bad ! I’m never going back and I will be reaching out to corporate!

Negative experience: Please stop going to Western Dental for your appointment. Western Dental in Chico sucks. They are big time waster because I have been there a few times and have to wait for hours just to get an Xray done or deep cleaning done. Not professional workers and very bad communication. I went in today to check in for my schedule appointment time and the receptionist said she checked me in already, after waiting for 2 hrs i went to confirm if im even near to be up next, was told i wasn't even checked in.smh. I left right away. How can this simple check in mistake happen? Seriously rediculous. Western Dental sucks! I'm done with Western Dental in Chico. I would rate them lower then 2 star but google don't have negative star. Everyone choose your Dental place wisely. Have a great day!
Hello there, we truly regret to hear that you had a frustrating experience and appreciate you bringing it to our attention.
If you'd like to discuss this further or there’s anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we're more than happy to assist you.
Negative experience: The wait time is consistently outrageous here. I've been forced to wait--for over 2 hours-- on 3 separate occasions here. Whatever the reason or excuse, it should not be happening. The release form I signed did not state consent to this terrible business practice that completely consumes my entire day.
Danna, we truly regret to hear of your experience. If you'd like to discuss this further or there’s anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we're more than happy to assist you.
Negative experience: The wait time is...not good. Expect to wait a minimum of 1-3 hours before seeing your dentist. The most time I waited was 4 HOURS, EVEN AFTER I CHECKED IN WITH THEM. Not to mention I loathe having to schedule an appointment for this place, you have to go through a whole process just to cancel or schedule your appointment. And sometimes they don't even pick up- The staff are, okay, not great but not bad either but depends on who you get and the place is unorganized and clunky. Don't recommend.
David, we truly regret to hear of your experience and the extended wait time you faced. If there's anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we're more than happy to assist you.
Negative experience: Waited for hours to not get what I came there for. Do not recommend. I went in at 12:30 for my 1:00 apt for a cleaning to walk out with no cleaning and not get in that chair until 3.
Hi Ashley, if you'd like to discuss this further or there's anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we're more than happy to assist you.
Negative experience: Absolutely ridiculous service, prejudice front desk and staff, I had to wait 2 1/2 hrs to be serviced even though I came earlier than scheduled , they took a patient in before me even though they were late and had the same appt time as me and they’re trying to charge me for free services. I came in for basic xray and cleaning, and they couldn’t even do that. Never again will I come back here this is ridiculous I will be contacting their member services and filing a grievance.
Rose, if you'd like to discuss this further or there's anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we're more than happy to assist you.
Negative experience: Called in January, earliest they could schedule me was April. At my appointment they took x rays & had me sit back in the lobby, after an hour they asked if I’d like to reschedule since the doctors were about to go to lunch.
Hello there, thank you for sharing your feedback. If there's anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we're more than happy to assist you.
Negative experience: Wait time is always long. At least an hour of waiting in the waiting room. And then they call you to the back just to have you wait for another hour. I was at the office for 3 hours just for an exam.
Hi V, thank you for sharing your feedback. If there's anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we're more than happy to assist you.
Positive experience: Wait time was excessive. My wait was 3 hours even with an appointment. The staff need to do a better job at contacting patients if their appointment needs to push or reschedule.
Hi James, we regret to hear of your experience. Your honest feedback is incredibly important to us, and we genuinely appreciate you sharing your thoughts.
Negative experience: The wait is extremely long. I dint know if management knows and they don't care or what but its 2.5 hours average for me. Last time before this appt I waited almost 3 hours only to be told that actually they don't even have an x-ray tech there.. i was sent home wasting 3 hours of my life.
Daneng, thank you for sharing your feedback. If there's anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we're more than happy to assist you.
Negative experience: I Would Never Reccomend Anyone Go To Western Dental On Cohasset!!! They Have A Dirty Bussiness (AND THEY WORK IN PEOPLES MOUTHS WITH ALL THESE GERMS ) And The Heavier Set Young Girl Is Very Rude At Check In... Very Unprofessional For Her Job... If I Could Rate Beyond Zero Stars I Would. ENOUGH FOR THIS CUSTOMER TO WALK OUT
Hi Kristi, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. If there's anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we're more than happy to assist you.
Fantastic experience: One of the front desk girls were very nice. It was very busy but got done what I needed and rescheduled me to get the rest done
Thank you for the excellent 5-star review! It makes our team proud to know that they delivered on our promise of affordable, timely and compassionate dental health care. We hope to welcome you again soon.

Negative experience: Place is very unsanitary floors and bathroom is disgustingly gross. Drs assistant got pissed when I called them out about it and how there was a random towel or whatever on the floor in the room my kid was being seen in. Claims it was so patients didn’t slip on water but looked as if it’s been sitting on the floor for months. I have videos as google won’t upload them so look at yelp :) health department needs to go inspect all the western dental offices there all so gross an unsanitary

Negative experience: The receptionist is very disgusting her behavior is foul and the way she speak to patients is so embarrassing for this establishment do not go to them she always has a problem with her job they definitely should check her. She has a smart mouth.
Thank you for your review. Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to provide the best care and service you deserve. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your concerns further, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.
Negative experience: This is a long post but worth it. Where do I even start on this review? First of all this place is one of the worst places I've ever seen as a dentist office. It literally looks like you're in a third world country All of their equipment is out of date worn out paint chipped on everything dirty dusty the floor is dirty there's toenail clippings cobwebs the walls are dirty it's disgusting. I took my granddaughter here because she has medical thinking this was the only place I could go unfortunately I I continued with her appointment getting her teeth cleaned X-rays then scheduled her wisdom teeth to be removed. 7 days post her wisdom tooth removal she was in so much pain she could hardly function. I took her back to this Western dental with an appointment at 1:00 pm wasn't taken back to be seen till almost 5:00 p.m.. on top of that there was a homeless man sleeping in the waiting room on the floor with a pillow and his backpack no one did anything about it. The place was filthy in there I felt like there was nothing else we could do We were at their mercy. We get back to see the dentist he looks at her teeth like 30 times poking around with this pokey thing causing more pain kept forgetting what tooth she was even having problems with I had to keep reminding him it was the right bottom tooth that was pulled where she was having the pain down her neck and her ear. He requested her to get an x-ray so he sent for the technician to come and get her she gets back there and the lady is trying to take her x-ray another lady walks in and says and says Mary you're not supposed to be doing this You know you're not supposed to be doing the x-rays. So the lady that walked in did the X-rays and I'm like they got someone in here working trying to do x-rays that doesn't even know how to do x-rays. Then we get back to the dentist chair and he says the x-ray looks fine and this is just the normal process of healing I ask him could this be dry socket he says absolutely not. He says is she still in pain in the morning bring her back I'm like what is going to happen between 5:00 in the evening till 8:00 in the morning can't you do something now no I guess I could see if we can get more pain medication for her. The next morning my husband calls around and finds a place we can take her that accepts medical and finds Adventist medical in Paradise California that accepts it so we make an appointment that afternoon and go to see the dentist he within 5 minutes of him seeing her he says you have DRY SOCKET. He places a packing into the hole that's medicated and within an hour she was hardly had any pain. This is the next day she has zero pain in her tooth. Hope this helps you make a wise decision.
Thank you so much for your honest and thorough review.

Negative experience: If i could give this place zero stars i would. this dental office is, unprofessional, dirty, and just down right disappointing. i went there for a wisdom tooth extraction. and had i known that this place was so terrible i never would've stepped foot into this office. they had me waiting 4+ hours for an appointment i had scheduled days in advance. not to mention how absolutely FILTHY this building is. cobwebs, dirty water, and TOENAILS on the floor! a homeless man sleeping on the FLOOR in the waiting room, pillow & all! now i went there to get my wisdom teeth extracted, and 7 days later i was still in EXCRUCIATING pain, so i go back for my appointment, that i scheduled that morning and still had to wait 4 or more hours to be seen. just for them to tell me, "nothing is wrong there is nothing we can do" so i went to a different dentist to find out, something WAS wrong, it was dry socket and within an hour the pain was subsided and i was feeling much better. DO NOT EVER GO TO WESTERN DENTAL. If you need a place to go, and are like me with medi-cal go to Adventist Health in Paradise Ca. they are so kind, professional, and are actual dentist.

Negative experience: It's clear the goal of this office is to abuse the insurance system and not actually take care of patients. My fiance just needed a cavity filled. They made her go to 3 separate appointments for this. Each time making her wait in the waiting room over an hour. All this waiting to spend 5 minutes getting an xray or 10 minutes to have the doctor do the exam. Why would they need 3 separate appointments for an exam, x-ray, and the filling? Every dentist office I've been to does the exam, x-rays, and filling in less time than she's had to wait in the waiting room. I assume they do this so they can bill your insurance for 3 separate office visits on top of the services. Very shady business practice. Oh, they also double, triple, or even quadruple book patients for the same time sloy to cram as many people in as possible. This most recent visit they needed an updated insurance card. But they didn't tell her until she went up to the desk after an hour and half of waiting in the room. They probably would have let her sit there all day. This place is ripe with mismanagement, scheduling issues, and has zero concern for patient's time. I don't fully blame the employees, as I believe they are a product of the horrible policies set by this organization.
Thank you for your review. Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to provide the best care and service you deserve. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your concerns further, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.
Negative experience: Insist your insurance is verified as the appt is being made. Tooth broke on a Friday, and I was given an emergency dental appointment for a Saturday morning. I was in significant pain. Told the scheduler I had Delta Dental insurance, she reminded me to bring my insurance card. Drove 2 hours for an appointment the next morning and was told that the scheduler marked me as "cash pay" (despite me being crystal clear about my private insurance). I was never told on the phone that they could not verify private insurance on a weekend (why would she even schedule me on a day my insurance couldn'tbe verified)? Better yet, why would they not verify the insurance right then and there, as my insurance company was definitely open at the time of the call. It feels like they just wanted me in the door, assuming I would just pay cash. Never again, Western Dental. Never. Again.
Sarah, thank you for your review. We strive to provide our patients with on time professional, affordable, and quality services. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention.
Negative experience: Scheduled an appointment. Chico office called to reschedule me a month out due to no Xray Tech being there. I go in for the rescheduled appointment, complete the paperwork and waited for 2 hours. Staff called me up and said they were sorry but had to reschedule me because they were short staffed and the Xray Tech was assisting the dentist. This was after waiting a month for an appointment, an hours drive to the office and waiting two hours to not be seen. I won't be returning.

Negative experience: We had an appointment scheduled for 9:00am. It’s 9:20am right now and their door is locked and closed. We’ve tried calling, knocking on the door, and are still waiting. No one has responded. This is about the tenth time they have scheduled us to come and is one of many wastes of time. It’s Western Dental so I expect these things, but just thought other people should know it’s a waste of time and life. If you have the opportunity of choosing a different place for your dental health, you should.
Thank you so much for your honest feedback as we continuously improve. We deeply value your time, care and health.
Negative experience: I was led to believe that they provided pediatric dentistry, and they booked me appointments for my two daughters at 8:15am. I drive 30 minutes and when I arrive they inform me that they don’t do pediatrics. Why even book the appointments?
Thank you for your feedback, Arturo. We understand how frustrating it must have been to drive so far only to learn that the services weren’t available. We do have sister offices that provide pediatric dentistry. Please call (800) 579-3783, and they will help you find a location that can accommodate your needs.
Negative experience: Communication was poor The technician are slow and repetitive. I was there for 3 hours and never saw the dentist for the final assessment. I tried calling the office. I was on hold for 30 mins and finally said there was no one to take my call and hung up!!!
Sherrilyn, we understand how frustrating this can be and are addressing your concerns to ensure a better experience moving forward. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope you’ll give us another chance to provide the service you deserve.
Negative experience: Horrible service. NEVER ANSWER PHONE. DO NOT SCHEDULE CORRECTLY. DROVE 3 HOURS TO BE TOLD MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT SCHEDULED EVEN AFTER GIVING THEM THE APPOINTMENT CARD! THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. BEEN ON HOLD FOR 45 MINUTES. THEY PICK UP AND PUT RIGHT BACK ON HOLD! DO NOT EVER RECCOMMEND GOING HERE!
Brittney, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We understand your frustration with the issues around scheduling and phone communication, and we truly apologize for any inconvenience caused. Your time is valuable, and we are committed to providing better experiences moving forward. If you’d like to discuss this further, please reach out to the office directly. We hope you give us another chance in the future.
Negative experience: I’ve been here for over 2 hours , I got here before my appointment time and have not been seen. Though the front desk representatives are nice and helpful , they schedule you with the huge possibility that they’re over booked. I’ve seen 4 people reschedule and only two people go in since I’ve been here , you do the math. I’m not sure what they’re lacking whether it’s hygentists or what. ALSO. I made my appointment online and scheduled myself a cleaning as a new patient and as I’m checking in I tell them that I’m here as a new patient for a cleaning and they proceed to tell me that I need X-rays and if they have time they will do the cleaning BUT THEN turn around and have someone on the phone scheduling for them to come in today , how do they not have time for my cleaning what I scheduled in advance , not to mention traveling an hour away but they can schedule someone to come in and get seen for a non emergency (I’m assuming) appointment.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Shyann. We apologize for the long wait and confusion regarding your appointment. We understand how frustrating it can be to feel like your time is not being respected, especially after traveling a long distance. We will take your comments into consideration to improve our scheduling and communication processes. Please reach out to us directly so we can assist you further and ensure that your concerns are addressed.
Fantastic experience: My experience here is always very positive. Starting with the 2 receptionist up front Alexis of Veronica. They are always very nice, very positive and very professional. The lady they call Doctor A. Very nice Person very professional very caring.I feel comfortable when she works on my teeth. Other positive staff members such as Maddison and Mayra O. Always makes The Visit pleasant. Thanks to all the staff members there at Western dental in Chico, I am able to smile with confidence and my breath smells good too . Sincerely D Rock. a.k.a. Negative experience: Scheduled an emergency appointment to treat tooth pain, and had to wait over 2 hours, just to be told i needed x-rays that they couldn't give me. The receptionist was rude and didn't give me critical information that i needed, and i was still charged for the co-pay, if you go here, expect unreasonable wait times in a freezing cold lobby with rude staff

We value your feedback and would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further. Please feel free to reach out to us directly. Thank you for sharing your concerns.
Positive experience: Well today I left feeling unheard, confused and wanting to cry. The guy who did my impressions came up behind me and then spoke up and startled me not once or twice but three times which I thought was inconsiderate. The doctor se md nice but did not take time to hear what I wanted to say I asked her if she saw larvae in my mouth and she started speaking in a foreign language to the guy who took my impressions . I tried to explain but he said we understand and I said oh you know and he replied yes, diabetes complication see you in three weeks and I left without really being clear on anything and the roughness with which I was felt saddened ne

Negative experience: my fiancée had an appointment at 1pm. it is now almost 5pm and they just started his fillings around 25 minutes ago. this is actually mind boggling. he sat “waiting for the numbing treatment to kick in” for 35 minutes. no words worst place in chico.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Dani. We apologize for the long wait your fiancé experienced. We understand the frustration this caused, and we are working to improve our scheduling and wait times. Your feedback is invaluable, and we want to make sure we can provide a better experience in the future. If you have any further concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.
Fantastic experience: Dr Singh at the Chico office is Wonderful. I had a deep root cleaning and three fillings today and a virtually had no pain. The front office staff a bunch sweetheart’s and the assistance are very good at their job.
Thank you for the 5-star review! We’re thrilled to know you had an exceptional experience with our committed team of dental health experts.

Fantastic experience: Hello everyone! I recently had a great experience at Western Dental and wanted to share my thoughts. The doctor did an excellent job with my filling—everything was done thoroughly and with great care, making sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure. The doctor’s knowledge and expertise really put me at ease. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming, and the office has a pleasant, professional atmosphere. I had some initial scheduling issues, but I now understand it was due to the high volume of patients. Once everything was sorted out, my visit went smoothly. The office manager deserves a special mention for being very helpful and attentive, making sure all my concerns were addressed. Overall, I highly recommend Western Dental for their excellent care, skilled staff, and friendly, efficient management.
We truly appreciate your 5-star review! It’s fantastic to see that you had an exceptional experience. We care about your dental health, and always strive to make every appointment a positive one.
Sincerely,
Western Dental & Orthodontics
Negative experience: HORRIBLE CROOKED FRAUDS!! Chico Office It was clear from the beginning this EMERGENCY appointment had nothing to do with getting my daughter out of pain but rather fattening there wallets. Three and a half hours for x-rays and a follow appointment with a referral out of clinic for specialized care. My daughter cannot eat or sleep, she was told she did not have an infection and take otc Tylenol for pain. Second opinion dentist same day appointment said it was very clearly infected and that she needed antibiotics immediately and pain meds and scheduled a root canal for after the infection was gone. I am contacting the insurance company for fraud (was charged a $1 copay when it says very clearly i do not have a copay) and an attorney for malpractice...this jerk harmed my daughter today. BEWARE AND AVOID!!!
Negative experience: Unprofessional front desk staff and their manager. The western dental phone appointment line and this location is not in sync at all(even aftre being one of the western dental office). Receptionist in the center doesn't bother to clarify important fact even when calling for appointment confirmation and They don't care about patients coming from far for the treatment, seems like looking for the excuses to turn them away for one or more reasons and no empathy. Would only see them if they are the last dental facility on earth and i am dying because of the dental issue.
Hello Maulik,
Thank you for your comments. We appreciate your feedback and take it into consideration as we continue to improve our services and patient experience.
Negative experience: Anyone giving this trash 4 stars is a bot. Horrible call service even when patients are trying to plan ahead and make sure they bring everything they need for their appointment calling and double checking that they have everything they need they will have you drive all the way there just to say you didn’t bring the right paperwork and send you home waste of fuel, time and money.
Hello Jared,
Thank you for your feedback. We understand that preparation for an appointment is important, and we strive to ensure all necessary information is provided beforehand. We are continuously working to improve our processes to better serve our patients and avoid any inconvenience.
Negative experience: This is center is terrible. No system, no organization and literally no management. The center and the work they do isn’t clean. The lady who was doing the x-ray kept moaning the entire time like she didn’t want to work. We had an appointment at 8 but it took 3 hours to be seen and it was a disastrous process. It was just a crown replacement. What I didn’t like the most that the doctor wasn’t able to communicate well and it wasn’t good either. Avoid this place at all costs!
Hello Mohammad,
Thank you for your feedback. We understand the importance of efficient service and clear communication in providing the best patient experience. Our team strives to maintain a high standard of care, and we continuously work to improve all aspects of our practice.
Negative experience: Horrible service. Drove 5 hrs to be told we needed to bring our own referral ( which we were never told that) because they have to go back a month in the computer to look for the referral. What a joke! They need to find a better system to process new patient referrals. The people working here are not experienced in customer service either
Hello Tisha,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand how frustrating it can be when unexpected requirements arise during your visit, especially after traveling a long distance. We are always striving to continue improving our processes to ensure a smoother experience for our patients. We appreciate your input.
Negative experience: This place is a clown show. I traveled from out of town stayed in a hotel took time off work got multiple confrontation emails for my appointment, only to show up and told that the oral surgeon wasn't in today. The lack of communication and incompetence of the front desk is a joke. From reading the reviews I'm not the only one who is thinking this. Please someone send them some help
Negative experience: I’m beyond frustrated with Western Dental. They never answer the phone or respond to emails—seriously, not once. I ended up having to drive 8 hours round-trip just to get my transfer papers because reaching them any other way was impossible. Every time I managed to get someone on the phone, it was the same unhelpful response: “We’ll get back to you.” Spoiler: they never did. When I finally got there, I still had to wait over an hour despite having an appointment. Why even bother scheduling if they’re going to keep you waiting forever? The dentist rushed through the exam and barely explained anything. It felt like I was being shoved out the door. The equipment looked outdated, which didn’t exactly boost my confidence in the quality of care. And then came the bill. Somehow, the final cost was way higher than what they originally quoted me, and when I tried to question it, the staff was rude and dismissive. This place is a mess—terrible communication, subpar care, and shady billing practices. I regret ever going there, and I wouldn’t wish this headache on anyone.
Dear Javier,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand how incredibly frustrating it must be to encounter such challenges with communication, appointment scheduling, and billing. Negative experience: I had my wisdom teeth removed and payed for a bone transplant that they couldn't even do told me that I would get a refund and have called several times on the matter at the Chico office. They keep telling me they will handle it. It’s been over 2 months I have not got a call back about the situation. They say they are working on it BUT THEY KEEP TAKING MONEY OUT OF MY ACCOUNT FOR A PROCEDURE I DIDN’T RECEIVE!!!. It’s unacceptable and HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!.
Fantastic experience: Dr Aleta was wonderful. She's welcoming and easy to talk to. And besides personality professionally Dr Aleta excells. I love my new Dentures and I highly recommend western dental.
We’re delighted with your 5-star review! Your dental health is a top priority and we hope to welcome you again for more outstanding service.
Sincerely,
Western Dental & Orthodontics
Negative experience: THE WORST PLACE I WENT IN MY LIFE! I approached because my permanent retention had failed, I made an appointment and they took more photos and videos of what they resolved, since they called the orthodontist who apparently did not study his profession well since the only solution he gave was to cut the retention and It was left as it was, if I went it was because I needed the piece that came off to be glued or finally replaced, but not cut it and left it like that... I can do that at home and without having studied orthodontics.
Hello Deborah,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear that your visit did not meet your expectations and that you felt your concerns were not addressed appropriately. It’s important for us to provide effective solutions for our patients. If you would like to discuss your experience in detail, please give us a call, as we cannot address specific patient matters online. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
Fantastic experience: For the past year or so I have been having great experiences with Western Dental. There finally is communication between the office staff and the doctors/techs in the back who work on patients. Kelly is awesome and runs this process efficiently. I have had two implants put in on the bottom that snap in a denture. I've had this for over three years and have had no problems. Dr. Panem is awesome. His work is impeccable! He is gifted in his art, knows what he's doing. If you need implants this is a great place to have them done.
Thank you for the 5-star review! We’re thrilled to know you had an exceptional experience with our committed team of dental health experts.
Sincerely,
Western Dental & Orthodontics
Positive experience: Staff was nice. Wait time was long. Only real complaint is that entire place was filthy. Waiting area, rest room, exam room all had smudges and finger prints. Floors look like they haven't been mopped since spring. Made me feel nervous about the place.
Negative experience: This place is ridiculous. They take advantage of peoples time. I’ve been there twice with my mom on each occasion. She’s had to wait more than one hour past her appointment time. And then the procedures takes more than an hour and they don’t let you know that even for a simple cleaning and x-ray. I have gone to many dentists over my lifetime and nowhere has it ever taken more than an hour for a procedure unless it’s changing a crown and they let you know ahead of time. The only reason I was able to get my mom in and out of there once they finally sat her down was because she’s 91 years old and I said there’s no way you’re going to take another hour For her procedure and I want to know directly if she goes in right now are you going to make her wait an hour because if it is then I’m pulling her out. I said it’s not fair to go more than an hour past our appointment time and you still think It’s OK to have her wait in the chair because you don’t have enough dentists and you purposely overbook. At least with an airline majority of the time people give up their seats and they give them money for it. Not at the dentist. I feel like this is prejudice because we’re Medi-Cal. I don’t know if that goes for everybody but seems like everyone in there was Medi-Cal so just because you think our time is valuable., It is I’ve asked her if in the past has it been the same situation and she said absolutely every single time she goes in there it’s more than a one hour wait. Who do you think you are that you can sit there, make an appointment for us and then just have a sit there. We should be sat back in the chair within 15 minutes no more. If we happen to come early, that’s the only time we should be able to wait longer. And no one apologizes, no one says anything. They don’t give a status update, nothing. Atrocious, absolutely atrocious behavior. I’ll tell you right now, we’re on the waiting list for another dentist that takes Medi-Cal and we’re also going go look at the other one now who might be taking people because they just opened up a larger office. This is unacceptable at any level no matter what kind of insurance you have. How dare you treat us like this. Don’t over book. One day there was one dentist in there and she had five people waiting for her and everyone was sat in a the dentist chair waiting. To give the impression like she’s going be right there. But she wasn’t. And that is not fair to the dentist either. They’re overworked and probably underpaid and definitely underappreciated. Just disgusting behavior at every level. The audacity of the call center to make all these appointments without regard to humanity. I can’t believe it. It’s unbelievable the way you treat patients. And people are desperate to get their teeth fixed because that’s an important part of healthcare And they’ve already had to wait to get their dental appointment and now they have to wait again. Unacceptable. What about people who have childcare? My son was waiting in the car I had to go keep checking on him because I couldn’t leave my 90-year-old mother, she could barely walk. And here I thought we were going be in and out less than an hour because it was just a preliminary check up. She doesn’t like to go to the dentist because of the wait but now she needs it because of a tooth situation. Just despicable behavior. I don’t recommend them to anybody. Do not go there if you can not to mention how many times I’ve seen people come in just to be told that they’re coverage is not taken by Western Dental. That’s something that could be done over the phone. These people are coming from town half an hour to an hour away. You can’t check this before they come in? Give me a break.
Negative experience: If I can give it 0 stars I would. The lady working with me was very unfriendly. The solution for everyone I heard in the operating area for all patients was “extraction” (which is what they probably make the most money from). Went in there for a cleaning and my appt was at 10am. Got there early, they took me back to the operating area and I sat there for exactly an hour before I decided to reschedule because I had work. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
Negative experience: Every time I come here, I wait 2-4 hours before even being seen. I come in 20 minutes early for an 8:30 appointment and they couldn’t get me in until 12:30 due to short staff. They are ALWAYS short staffed and their front desk is extremely careless, rude and unprofessional. Myra at the front desk told me they schedule multiple people for the same appointment time (4 people scheduled at 8:30???) They are not gentle and do not care about their patients or their time.
Negative experience: Absolute worst dentist I’ve ever been too. Got there and filled out forms and waited 20 mins for X-rays and then after X-rays was taken back to the chair and waited 1 hour and 40 mins, there was absolutely nobody in site so I decided to leave, I had stuff to do this wasn’t even for something crazy, just an exam for my teeth
Hello Victor,
I'm truly sorry to hear about your recent experience. It sounds like it was very frustrating to wait for such a long time, especially when you had other commitments. We aim to provide efficient and timely service, and it’s clear we fell short in this instance. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will use it to improve our scheduling and communication processes. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Negative experience: I was looking for a new dentist for myself since I'm new to the area, and this place took my insurance. I'd been having some problems for a few weeks and asked on the phone if I could make an emergency dentist appointment and they said I could. The next day I go in 15 minutes before my appointment and the manager (???) At the front desk tells me that they don't do emergency appointments and since I've been seen by the dentist in the last 12 months they can't see me. I said I'm confused, I called on the phone and made an emergency appointment. She then says "that's what I'm trying to explain to you" ??? It was so confusing, and then she hands me paperwork to fill out. My partner and I sit down and my appointment was scheduled for 10:15am. I don't get my X-Rays until 10:45. I'm done my x-rays at 11:20. The person who did my x-rays told me to wait in the waiting room because they didn't have a room available yet. The manager calls out to me when I come out "did you get your xrays?". I said yes I did, and she told me to wait here for a room. The manager says "no, we can't do that. We don't take anyone back after 10:30" Im so confused and frustrated at this point. It's been super weird and the manager is honestly super condescending and really bad at communicating (not just with me, but literally every other patient she interacted with). So she tells me I can come back the same day at 1pm. I go do some errands and come back at 1pm and they immediately take me to a room. I'm excited to get this over with and thinking it won't take that long. It was 12:52 when I got into the room. I didn't talk to a single person again until 1:56. I waited back there alone FOR AN HOUR. My phone died and at that point I was about to walk out, when the dentist came in. The dentist got me wrong, thought I was a different patient. Then proceeds to tell me after 15mins of talking to the assistant and poking around my mouth that I have 9 cavities, 6 that are urgent. I was shocked. I hadn't been to the dentist that long ago. The dentist leaves and the assistant tells me they want to seal the 3 remaining cavities at 85$ EACH for a total of almost 300$. I went back to my normal dentist and he told me that while yes I did have 9 cavities, they were all small and could be managed just by maintaining them, and he wouldn't treat them. This was by far the worst experience I've had at a dentist, and I wouldn't trust them to come anywhere near my mouth with dental instruments. Oh! Also, my fiancé was in the waiting room the whole time, also getting frustrated because it had been almost an hour. So the manager finally comes back to my room (once the dentist is already there!) And asks "is that your boyfriend out there?" While laughing. I said, yeah that's my fiancé. And she goes "oh okay I just wanted to come back and check how things are going. I can tell he's getting frustrated because he keeps crossing and uncrossing his legs" and then laughs more! It just feels so unprofessional? And uncomfortable. Definitely will not being going back!
Negative experience: Called to schedule appointment for permanent retainer to be seen about as well as a cleaning. They told me that they could do permanent retainers, and also could get me in for a cleaning. I came in, with 2 hours blocked off for my appointments. I had a 9:15 and a 10:15. I finally got to the ortho chair and someone took one look at me and said we don’t do permanent retainers here. Cool, would have been no problems if someone hadn’t told they could schedule an appointment for it. And on the other hand, they didn’t even have a chart for me or anything about what I was in for, I was asked probably four or 5 times if I was there for a consult for braces. Just very unprofessional, and the staff don’t seem like they’re trained much. I finally got called back for my cleaning, got extensive x-rays, only for them to FINALLY tell me that the dentist had several people ahead of me, like I’m a walk in, and that I could wait over an hour, or reschedule. No I’m not going to spend three hours at the dentist. So I walked out of there having wasted 2+ hours and all I got were some X-rays and a bill for 169 dollars. And the lady who checked me out was very rude.
Negative experience: It was most definitly the worst experience of my life! Lies, lies and more lies throught the process, from corporate. They are in the business to collect your money, not satisfy you as a customer. Runaround company. Dont waste your time with them.
Dear Merle,
We hear your frustration and understand how disappointing your experience was. It’s concerning to learn that you felt misled and that our process did not meet your expectations. Our goal is to provide honest and satisfactory service to every patient, and it’s clear we need to do better in this regard.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and we are committed to making improvements.
Sincerely,
The Western Dental & Orthodontics Team
Negative experience: This facility lacks a sense of urgency. None of the employees care about their patients time. Almost a two hour wait past our scheduled time. I have never in my life been to a dentist appointment and had to wait for two hours and yet have not been recognized or greeted as a patient waiting. No one checked in on us to let us know how much longer. We’re sitting in the room listening and watching the lack of sense of urgency around the office. With the amount of one star ratings and sharing our feedbacks of how long each office visit is, maybe this facility or company should at least care enough about their patients’ time. I felt there was no organization in patient management either. Just overall not a good experience at all.
Negative experience: Terrible I have had multiple appointments canceled, was talked to rudely and the lady’s on the phone and call center was completely insensitive to my issues! If I could give them no stars I would!!!!
Hi Jaded, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We strive to provide our patients with on time professional, affordable, and quality services. Your feedback is important, and we rely on hearing from our patients to improve our services.
Negative experience: Just a heads up, the only reason this place has ANY 5 star reviews is because they beg their patients to leave 5 star reviews as soon as they see them! I just had the worst and most traumatizing experience here. PLEASE DONT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE CRAP I got to my appointment at 11am to get my wisdom teeth extracted, one of them which is currently decaying, waited 45 minutes for the doctor to call me in, put me in the chair, and numbed me before leaving me to sit there for an hour and a half. NOBODY checked on me. I was already anxious as it is and I ended up going back to the front desk to ask them what was going on. They told me the specialist will go talk to me so I went back to my room. When the specialist went to talk to me I politely complained that I was waiting for a long time and I was super anxious and didn't feel like I was being cared for. He hardly let me get a word in and gave me a bunch of attitude to the point of making me cry. Not to mention I'm also unnecessarily in pain now from the numbing injection..
Fantastic experience: Kelly and the other staff members are very kind and professional. The waits can be a little long but I'm usually out in a hour. There doctors are caring and very skilled. I will keep coming back.
Thank you for your kind review, Lili. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We strive to provide our patients with on time professional, affordable, and quality services. We look forward to seeing you again in the future!
Negative experience: I have never been to a more unprofessional medical office in all of my life. I went for my initial visit a few weeks ago to establish myself as a patient and get my X-rays and initial exam appointment done. I didn't get called back until 20 minutes after my appointment time and then proceeded to get my initial X-rays done and then proceeded to have to wait on a chair in a hallway for a pano x-ray for 30 min (the procedure takes 1.5 minutes to do, what was i waiting for). The woman who took my pano (I believe her name was Shelly) proceeded to damage my soccer jersey by dragging the velcro from the lead vest across my back. I was then put in a dental chair where I proceeded to wait for over an hour to see the Dr. for a total of 5 minutes. I was told I had 3 cavities so I scheduled an appointment for today at 11 to get them fixed and have a cleaning done. I get a call at 8:20 this morning asking if I can come in at 9 instead for my appointment. I told them as long as that ensures that I am able to get both my cleaning and fillings done still, that would be fine. The woman on the phone told me that would be "most likely fine". I then get ready and head to the office 2 hours early to help them. I get there and I am checked in and the receptionist asks to collect payment at which point she says "let me check with the Dr. to see which fillings are we doing today". I let her know that I would like to do them all as well as my cleaning l, and she let me know that they would only be able to do one side. I let her know of the issues that occured last time and that I would like to have them all done as I can't keep giving up my Saturdays to have these done one at a time. She told me that would not be possible (it would have been nice to have been told that from the beginning), so I asked her to cancel my appointment and I would not be coming back. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Your feedback is important to us and we will work on improving our services to ensure a better experience for all our patients. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. The clinic is disgusting. The wait time is outrageous. The staff is rude. They wrote me an incorrect referral for an oral surgeon for a root canal so now I have to jump through hoops to get a correct referral to schedule an appointment. I wouldn't recommend this office to absolutely anyone.
Hi Kalee, we're truly sorry to hear about your negative experience at our clinic. This is not the level of service we strive to provide. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and would like the opportunity to make things right. Please contact us directly so we can assist you with getting the correct referral. Jennifer, Mayra, and Kelly are truly exceptional team members, and we will be sure to pass along your kind words to them. Thank you for choosing us for your dental care, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Negative experience: The dentists were horrible. They cared more about selling a super expensive “gum disease” prevention treatment than what I came in to do. When I told them I was thinking about it because I couldn’t afford it at the time they seemed irritated and got mad because I was already “thinking about it” at my last visit. I was never able to transfer my X-rays to my new dentist when I decided to leave this place. The customer service over the phone was great but the actual in person employees were always in a bad mood and not helpful. Also super long wait the majority of the time.
Hi Glady, we are sorry to hear about your experience at our dental office. We apologize for any frustration you experienced with our treatment recommendations and transfer of X-rays. We appreciate your feedback and will work on improving our customer service and wait times in the future. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Fantastic experience: I support people with disabilities who receive services from Western Dental in Chico on Cohasset. I want to recognize Maria, one of the front office receptionists, as she is always professional, accommodating, patient, and helpful. The receptionists deal with a lot of personalities, issues with patients, and manage many details and coordinate a lot of tasks. Maria is exceptional and honestly makes the experience at Western Dental well worth it! Maria is awesome and amazing!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience with Maria at Western Dental in Chico, Sarah! We are thrilled to hear that she has been professional, accommodating, patient, and helpful in providing you with exceptional service. We will be sure to pass along your kind words to Maria and the rest of the team. We appreciate your recognition and look forward to continuing to provide you with excellent care.
Negative experience: My mother is 65 she had a appointment today. She has an abcess tooth that's really hurting her, and she's having trouble with her vision. The ladies were rude to her and said well if you can't sign the paperwork then you can't see the dentist. She asked kindly to help her they denied and proceeded to be rude to her. I really don't understand, would they do this to their own mothers? What's happening with customer service these days? Why do poor behaviored degenerates work in jobs that require care. I'm very disappointed and would like to speak with the person in charge there, if that even would change anything.. now my mom in pain has to find another dentist meanwhile her mouth is causing her so much pain. Just evil.. people here highly recommend not coming here.
