Since 1967, Jefferson Dental & Orthodontics continues to provide the most compassionate, high-quality, affordable and convenient dental and orthodontic care to our communities. We have over 70 offices throughout Texas and recently expanded to Oklahoma in 2021. We are the proud, official dentist of the Dallas Mavericks.
Our talented doctors, hygienists, dental assistants and team members are the very life force that allows us to care so deeply for our patients. Fantastic experience: Went a few weeks back to get a filling done and Dr. Shah was an absolute rockstar!!! My favorite thing was how she explained everything she was doing while doing it. I've never had provider do that before and it was a really nice change of pace. The ladies at the front desk were very polite. Everything is very organized and everyone had their own part to do like a well-oiled machine. I did have to wait a bit, but they ended up staying late so that I could receive care, so I'm very happy. 10/10!!!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Shah, was awesome! After examination and consultation, her knowledge and experience was evident. It provided total relaxation for the treatment that she prescribe! AB, the Hyginest, was confident in his recommendations, I was assured that I was in " good hands". Kathy, the dental Assistant, was quite an expert in taking all of the X-Rays. Doris, the Office Manager, went out of her way to ensure that I was going to use my benefits and offered Financing, that was a great help! Negative experience: TERRIBLE PLACE. Save your time, money, and energy. I arrived 20 mins early to my appointment only to be told that they were 2 hours behind schedule and wouldn’t be able to see me. I explained my tooth being cracked and the fact that all the information was sent in and confirmed due to the emergency nature of the appointment. The “manager” Myra rudely told me that the only they would do to help me is perform a routine exam and do the extraction if they had time while shrugging (she made clear they had no time for). Then had the audacity to ask me if I even have insurance. Which let’s be clear, I provided online and in person. I explained the nature of my visit and that I needed this done, due to having to return to work Monday and setting aside time for this to be done. Considering what type of work they do, stay away. Completely unprofessional and the customer service is terrible.

Fantastic experience: Went in kinda knowing what I wanted and left satisfied because I can get exactly that. All the ladies there where extremely nice . Dr.shah did a amazing job extracting 5 teeth with little to no pain . I would definitely recommend them . I can’t wait till I get my new smile thanks to them

Fantastic experience: Doris was the best. So caring February 9 appointment: Went in Glad I Had Doris again. She kept up with me until my Impression was correct. For a bridge, it took several times. I’m so impressed with this young Lady. I like Dr Shaw as well. With us older folks our teeth are failing. The Pandemic hurt a lot of us. But I’m glad I went back with these new young people in charge. Anyone who gets Doris is lucky. She’s more than words can express. I was very nervous for some reason. She put on music to help ease that. Thank you. So much. My procedure isn’t done but worst part is See you in the coming weeks. ! 6-17-24 Went in. I need a lot of work Today I had a cleaning and work for a crown to be put on. My old teeth are kind of failing. . Dr Shaw is so kind. Doris is always sweet. The hygienist today was super great. Hope I always get her. She didn’t hurt me at all . I have no complaints. I’ll need bridge work in the future. But can’t imagine doing everything at once. If anyone reads this. If you’re a young person take care of your teeth I didn’t when I was young . Now I’m paying the piper. 6-9-25 Had a cleaning done. My hygienist is super nice. Don’t know why I get so nervous at this stage of life. But today went well. I can’t spell her name but she is super good . I have no complaints. . Thank you for being gentle and kind! 9-24-25 Thank you Dr Shah. So nice seeing you again I like everyone there. But Dr Shah has been my dentist for quite awhile. I appreciate her skillfulness and patience getting things right. I’m in a new journey with my teeth so I need to have patience with myself too.

Negative experience: Diagnosed with a tooth infection but no prescription given to Diabetic patient by the doctor. The company printer didn't work and doctor couldn't send prescription electronically to pharmacy because the medical office didn't have that function available. Overpriced dental repair quote and misleading dental services. Staff left me a voicemail to go back tomorrow to pick up medication and the doctor didn't care about my pain and health problems.

Negative experience: If I could give a 0 I would it seems like they do not communicate with each other even though ortho and general in the same office, when your child is no longer even a patient they will still charge your card/insurance and then make it impossible to speak with someone to resolve the matter do your self a favor take your child anywhere else but here !!!!!!

Negative experience: Literally the worst experience since I decided to get my daughter’s braces . I was 13 minutes late to my appointment and they made me wait an hour and thirty minutes for my daughter to be seen. I tried to call the office but you can never get through.They only have ortho here once a month so these appointments are two months in advance.When I asked what could be done she told me she would see everyone here before me and when she did that she tried to continue to see people that arrived after us. I tried to tell her I accommodate them when they make mistakes so what was the issue with the other way around . Literally everybody in the lobby continues to state what is their problem with Ortho and they just keep ignoring.

The new manager, Mayra, is incredibly kind and always goes out of her way to find the best options for her patients. She has a gentle touch and makes you feel comfortable throughout every treatment. Negative experience: Memorial Herman's e.r. nurse practitioner says it was really dumb that yall gave nothing stronger then tylenol and ibuprofen for a wisdom tooth extraction. I'll be taking my buisness elswhere. Don't get me started on trying to get a follow up set up for another cracked tooth only for the front desk girl to ask what time I'm free IN OCTOBER.

Negative experience: AVOID AT ALL COST: Received an emergency root canal from this clinic. Paid $1500 for it. 3 years later I find out that I need another root canal because it was improperly completed and I now have an access with bone loss in my jaw. Absolutely horrid service that takes advantage of underserved communities. Predatory price gougers with no concern for their patients.

Negative experience: I arrived at 12:17 for my 11:30-12:30 appointment. They told me to wait until 2:00. I went in and they took an x-ray of my tooth. It's now 5:00 and they still haven't done anything. I have a toothache and no one cares. Instead of pulling my aching tooth, they said 6 of your teeth need to be pulled. This place is horrible.

Negative experience: HORRIBLE PLACE (Details below) One Star - Avoid at all costs. Went in for a root canal, and it was a complete disaster. Other work was fine, but the root canal was TERRIBLE. First appointment: 4.5 HOURS, and they didn't even finish. Had to come back a week later for another 5 HOURS. And after all that? They messed it up. Now I need a specialist to fix their mistake. They refunded me, but that doesn't even touch how much time I wasted. Seriously considering legal action. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Positive experience: The strangest Dr appt I've ever had. I needed teeth cleaned & 1 had a chip break off @ Xmas. My Medicare plan only covered routine cleaning so i booked appt for cleaning & have the tooth looked @ to see if a bigger problem was imminent. The people were pleasant & efficient, did x-rays, Dr advised of add'l work (crows, etc) in the future & then the hygienist decides that I need a "deep cleaning" (whatever that is). I told her that today all I wanted was the routine cleaning covered by the insurance & she left. After a while one of the staff comes & tells me about deep cleaning again, then goes to check my coverage & comes to tell me only routine is covered. Ok, fine, just do that. Nope, hygienist won't do it. I wonder how is it possible that she can't/ won't do the (simple) routine cleaning but can/will do the "deep cleaning"? I tell her it doesn't matter if I get routine cleaning or go home. It was the hygienist's way or the highway, so I went home.

Negative experience: I've been having good experience until about a year ago. My child had regular cleaning, crown and lately his braces. My last three visits have been terrinle/horrible. Wait time has been 1 hour and a half ir two hours. Their solution is to re-schedule, like I am able to take two or three hours of work just to meet dentist appointment just to be asked to reschedule, after wsiting fir two hours. December 26th I received three messages to confirm appoitment only to be told orthodontists were not to be at clinic until january 2nd.

Negative experience: I have left 6 messages and texted multiple times but can get no response. When you call you are routed to a generic answering service, who themselves cannot directly reach these people. I am in need of an antibiotic to prevent infection, and am extremely frustrated at the notion that I paid for an appointment, spend two hours at the office, and did not get a prescription filled and cannot get my request addressed.

Negative experience: Got ripped off of $400 bucks cause apparently a former employee didn't understand when I asked what was the full bill and gave me a different price and was treated as a down payment now a year later they asking I pay for it or I can't get the rest of the treatment I paid $7500 for. Don't go here they either incompetent or scammers neither of which you should let handle your teeth. Also in response from the owner, I spoke to your regional manager and all they could say is that they are sorry their former employee misspoke but I still have to pay the $400 bucks so I don't want to call just to be told the same thing. Negative experience: I’ve had an extremely frustrating and unprofessional experience with Jefferson Dental on Bellaire. I’ve paid $2,000 for my braces, and despite months of calling and being promised callbacks, I finally got in touch with someone only to be met with even more issues. When I showed up for my appointment today, they told me I needed to pay 50% of my remaining balance, even though I was assured during my initial phone appointment that my $2,000 payment would cover everything, including the removal of my braces. On top of that, one of the staff members claimed they had no record of me, even though I’ve been to this location multiple times and transferred from Dallas to Houston. The staff is completely unprofessional, disorganized, and the entire office operates with zero regard for their patients. This has been a nightmare from start to finish, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Negative experience: Scheduled an appointment for fillings for my kid plus extractions… they call several times to confirm the appointment, only for my kid to show up and wait and then they inform me that the procedure couldn’t be done that day… you don’t think that out of one of those five calls you gave that you could have told me so I wouldn’t have wasted my time or pulled my kid from practice… then the two weeks prior to that I took the baby in for his 1st appointment ever and we were legit the only 2/3 ppl there but for some reason they had a toddler waiting for over two hours before they even touched him, I mean I literally was about to walk out the door before they stopped me

Negative experience: Let me start by stating my opinion. These are competent professionals and the technology used in office is up to date. The staff were all pleasant and very friendly. However, I will not return to this location. The exam itself was unpleasant because the gloves they used smelled like they'd used them on a pack of wet dogs. Several of the the staff members didn't smell any better; I believe the hygienist farted while she was in the room with me, and she smelled like weeks of being unwashed. I personally felt disgusted by the time my appointment was over. Now If being bombarded with unpleasant odors and poor hygiene isn't an issue for you I see no problems with going here for your dental care.

Negative experience: This dentist office is horrible !!!! They only attend to their own kind which is Hispanic based, I had an appointment for 10:30am I even got there early just in case I had to do paperwork but my appointment was already made the week before. They attended to everyone else but my appointment was for 10:30 by this time I’ve already asked like what was going on to where I have to wait an whole hour just to get seen and again I been set my appointment a week prior. You’re not suppose to move on to the next person until the person who had an appointment before them gets seen. I didn’t get seen until almost 12 am & didn’t leave from their office until 3pm. Horrible customer service, when I asked one of the guys what was going on he started laughing in my face I’m clearly upset that I had to wait an hour just to get a x-ray done. AVOID THIS DENTIST OFFICE AT ALL COST HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS, just do away with the whole team…

Negative experience: Still waiting almost 3 hours for a simple dental checkup after having trouble with my crown. I also had an orthodontist appointment and was told I could not be seen at this location even though my appointment was confirmed the day before. I am going to cancel my Invisalign contract since no treatment has been given even though I already made payment. Each of these locations is in the worst parts of Houston and the staff doesn’t care about patient service.

They only care about getting you to commit to expensive services...I went in for annual cleaning and was there for 2 1/2 hours and all they did was take ex-rays so they can bill your insurance. I never got my teeth cleaned! I was waiting the majority of time. Very inefficient!

Fantastic experience: First I want to commend the office for their cleanliness! The waiting room and the bathroom was so clean and fresh. The staff was extremely kind and friendly! Negative experience: Ultimately during the visit I was taken advantage by the dentist and his staff. You would think that the dentist would find some issues due to not going to dentist for a prolong period of time. They said I didn’t have any cavities or any other issues besides the reason of my visit. The billing lady comes to take the payment for the treatment which would have cost me an arm and a leg for something I could have used home remedies for. In the end they charged me something I could have done at home vs could’ve checked on some more serious issues.

Negative experience: Not at all what I read about. Early appointment walked in signed in never acknowledged even after 4 employees came in after me. Not one of them spoke.Went for a cleaning and x-rays. After Dr visit billing receptionist came in discussed total amount for dental work, said I couldn’t get a cleaning unless I had some of the procedures done. Of course I had dental insurance for cleaning but never got it. Because I wasn’t ready to get full treatment I couldn’t get a cleaning even with insurance. Everything was explained but why I just couldn’t get a cleanings. Left without a cleaning and will never return again.Dr Shah was kind.

Positive experience: As I was dying from embarrassment from not having gone to the dentist since I was a child everyone was nice. I can't remember anyone's name but whoever came to do the x ray part and scanning was horrible! I have some kind of infection and inflammation going on in there and let her know in advance. Even explained my fear of dentist and she continued to JAM THESE INSTRUMENTS INTO MY MOUTH. Mind you the roof of my mouth is in severe pain that you can see. Expensive as idk what but the initial consultation was $29 for new patients but ya girl needs 10k worth of work my advice, DONT LET FEAR HOLD YOU BACK FROM THE DENTIST! And make sure your credit IS TOP TIER, who knew I needed good credit for a dentist appt. God Bless America

Negative experience: Beware of the scheduling- if you do not confirm twice they will cancel your appointment and give the time slot to someone else. I made the appointment, confirmed over text, but was not able to answer a phone call because I was working. When I did return the call, they had already given my appointment away. Very inconvenient when you're having to rearrange childcare, work schedules, ect. Dr. Shah is amazing, but it is obvious the staff is overworked and the dental assistants are learning as they go. The coordinator who goes over the treatment plan is not thorough. They just quickly list out the services and prices without actually showing you the service plan. I had to ask for it to be physically shown to me. As soon as I finish this treatment, I will not be returning.

Negative experience: Unprofessional. I scheduled an appointment weeks in advance and took the time to be there 30 min early for my appt. They cancelled my appointment because I "did not confirm it" They did not even offer to squeeze me in after they were the ones that had cancelled my appointment and were expecting me to choose another day entirely to reschedule, take time off work, etc. If that is going to be my experience on the very first visit why would I want to reschedule with them?

Negative experience: I just left from the Bellaire location and I am very dissatisfied. This is the second time in 2 years that I have tried to seek treatment getting bad results. I had an appointment today and my insurance was supposedly verified. I was checked in for my appointment and waited over an hour to be called back. I was never called and when I went to front desk was told I didnt have an appointment and did not accept my insurance. Upon speaking with the person on the phone yesterday when making the appointment, I was told she verified my insurance thus making todays appointment. When I got home I called my insurance and was told this provider is in network. I have left a message for the office manager to call me but I am sure that wont happen.. I will NEVER return to this provider. I was there 2 years ago and received bad service and overcharged. The only reason I decided to give them another try is because I am in severe pain and its a block from my home. Run do not walk! from this provider. Never again! I'll let all of my teeth fall out first! UPDATE: My tooth fell out this night! Saved myself $1000. Thanks for nothing but extended pain Jefferson Dental!

Negative experience: I received services at the dental office, paid my balance when I left, and they verified insurance coverage beforehand. However, nearly two months later, I received a bill of over $300. The explanation given, citing a vague insurance decision without specific details, was unsatisfactory. Despite numerous email exchanges, resolution seems elusive, prompting me to share my dissatisfaction with the billing process through this Google review. This was disappointing because I actually enjoyed the service but surprising someone with a $300 bill after will have me and the rest of my family choose another dentist.

After they finished all that exam. Hurry up start the most expensive deep cleaning first. Then start to charge everything else. We just go for basic cleaning. Negative experience: I had a really bad experience with this provider. I went in with my spouse and chose this provider based on their business hours. Our first visit went well but everything after that went wrong. On several occasions we would schedule appointments and the office would call us the day of the appointment asking if we could reschedule due to the dentist always wanting to leave early. When we are able to been seen and as we are waiting we witness many customers come in angry upset as well because their appointment being cancelled or regarding a billing issue which I also had issues with. While getting services done the dentist always seemed in a hurry and at times hurting my spouse mouth. My spouse had gotten two crowns done and my insurance and myself paid the contracted rate for both. The office was charging me for the second one when they were both paid out. After many phones calls with the collection agency I went in to the office to attempt to resolve the issue. That same day as I was waiting to be assist regarding the billing issue another customer came in upset because she was charged for services and supplies that she did not agree to get nor get. Later when I spoke to the lady in charge of billing I stated that my insurance had already paid out for the second crown and there should be no balance. The lady stated that I was not yet billed for my spouses second crown because they were waiting for the crown to be sent in to them which I clarified to her that crown was already placed in my spouses mouth. I asked the lady to please update their information as it is not being reported to the collections agencies correctly causing the billing issues. The lady stated she could do nothing and that their business office could see everything. I pushed back and advised they are the office rendering services and if they do not report the correct information this issue will not get fixed. She stated she will sent a request in to have information to be reviewed. I am a few months into this issue and they are still attempting to collect a balance that should not be owed. I was also charged around $200 dollars for a braces consultation that I never agreed to nor was advising I was getting charged for. They had still advised me they could do nothing about those charges and just to ignore the phone calls and emails that I get. This provider office is really unorganized and not transparent with hidden charges. I would not recommend this provider and this billing issue sshould be reported to the Better Business Bureau.

Negative experience: Very unprofessional. They overbook themselves and leave you waiting! My child had an appointment for 4:15pm and was not seen at all by the actual dentist until after 6pm. We were the Len told to come back the next day because the dentist was backed up. The dental assistants are RUDE. This is a last resort dentist for sure. Absolutely horrific experience.

Fantastic experience: Awesome people! Very affordable and they do not let you leave without making sure you’re fully satisfied! The office manager did everything in her power to make sure I was able to get everything I needed done with an affordable payment. As a child I struggled with confidence due to my teeth I went to a couple different dentist, but was let down every time with outrageous pricing and pretty much broken dreams. Jefferson dental has done so much more than just restoring my confidence.

Negative experience: I don't think I will ever recommend Jefferson Dental to anyone, especially the Bellaire/South Gessner location. You prescribed me medication and when I go to the pharmacy to pick up said medication; I look at the medication and and began reading information on the medication and realize this is not right. So I called the pharmacy to let them know my situation and they went and checked it in the system and they said, per the prescription, it was correct. The problem is Jefferson Dental, what y'all prescribe me had nothing to do with teeth, mouth, etc. And I can't even get my money back and not have medicine that I have no use for. So no, I'm not happy with y'all!

Negative experience: My first experience wasn't the best & neither was the second one.. first time there I had an appointment at 1pm got there at 12:45pm ( i thought maybe they ll take me in a little early or so) I did not leave that place until 7pm literally as soon as they closed I was able to walk up and leave. I was able to finance a certain amount for 2 extractions & some fillings but I didn’t even get my full treatment the whole day I was there. Sure the people are nice but on my second time going there I came out super bruised from under my tongue the guy that was doing the suctioning for the Dr that took care of me that day really bruised me he was literally stabbing me with the tool inside my mouth , I couldn’t tell if i felt pain were the doctor was working on me or were the guy had the tool placed but it was a non stop stabbing pain. I kept trying to push my head back because clearly i was uncomfortable but it wasn’t stopping him from taking out the tool … All i have to say is that they should be more organized , more considerate & more careful for sure.
