Fantastic experience: My daughter was very nervous about going to the orthodontist, but the staff was very welcoming! Ms. Jordan was pleasant and gave a tour of the place. Dr. Ruth was kind as well. It was so great my daughter went from not wanting to be there to disappointed she has to wait a few more months to determine if she should get braces.

Fantastic experience: The office is very nice The front desk receptionist Samiyah was very helpful and knowledgeable when I called to make my kids appointment. She asked me did I want to do their paperwork ahead of time and she walked me through each step and answered questions that put me at ease with my insurance. The office staff was friendly Budenia was super friendly with the kids and made them feel comfortable. Dr Ruth was so friendly and explained everything that she was doing and also talked with the kids to make sure they were comfortable and understood the situation of their appointment. This is a wonderful place to take your family for your orthodontists needs.

Negative experience: I set my and my daughters appointment weeks ago for the same day. I got four texts over those two weeks confirming our appointments at 9:55a today. I get there at 9:50a and apparently my first appointment was at 8:55 and it’s $100.00 to reschedule. The receptionist April was all smiles as she told me this and confirmed that no text was sent regarding the correct appointment times to my or her dads number so I opted to go else where and have my daughter seen.. now her new patient paperwork has to be completed or she has to be rescheduled…also never sent but April is still smiling. Great place! Really

Negative experience: 0/5 SHES MONEY HUNGRY Initially Everything started off great when she was receiving payments and finished treatment. I then called in office with a concern about my retainer, it was loose only in the back. I originally needed to reschedule my appointment but was told it’s a $50 fee to reschedule so I went ahead to my appointment. When I arrived at my appointment they canceled it and said she was about to leave but they allowed me to be seen. When she came in to see me, she instantly started asking me and my boyfriend how long we had been together and why we weren’t married. She mention that if she was in my shoes she would be looking for another man ( remind you we are in front of my boyfriend ) this gave a weird vibe. She then proceeded to correct my retainer and bent it over 3 times which made the fit of my retainer worse. When I explained this to her when she asked how the retainer fits… she instantly got defensive, stated she didn’t know what to do and that I needed to purchase another $500 retainer due to her causing the issue to be worse. She then walked out of my appointment and said my time was up. I had to report her to the state board.

Positive experience: I had a wonderful experience with Dr Ruth. April was awesome. She made me feel comfortable, welcomed and just was a ray of sunshine. The office has updated imaging services . I'm glad my friend recommended me.

Negative experience: Worst Experience Ever! After 4 years of wearing braces and strictly following all instructions and appointments, the results were extremely disappointing. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, Dr Ruth responded in an unprofessional and dismissive manner instead of taking responsibility or offering any solutions. Worse yet, her behavior during appointments was inappropriate and unprofessional. I do not recommend this clinic to anyone seeking quality treatment or professional service . The biggest issue was the unprofessional and discriminatory treatment I received. It was clear that I was treated this way because I don’t share the same skin color as her.

Fantastic experience: I recently visited Braces by Dr. Ruth for a consultation, and I'm so happy I did! The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff was fantastic. The best part? I saved $7K! It turns out I don't actually need braces "again". Dr. Ruth said if I wanted them, it would be purely for personal reasons, as the change would be so minimal it wouldn't even be noticeable. I was originally considering Invisalign through my dentist, but I wasn't keen on paying the full amount upfront or opening a credit line. What I wasn't told was that Invisalign wouldn't make a significant difference for me. So, I'm beyond grateful I chose Dr. Ruth for a consultation and found an honest orthodontist. Now, I get to keep that money!

I haven’t actually started treatment yet, but my initial consultation was incredible. I mentioned that I’m getting married soon, and they were actually excited for me—not in a generic way, but in a way that felt really organic and sincere. Fantastic experience: When we arrived at the front desk we were not prepared ! We didnt have our paperwork completed before being seen however The front desk who greeted us with the most vibrant energy at 730 am, She didnt reschedule my daughter and we were allowed time to complete the paperwork and still be seen. Nurse Beaudenia made our experience pleasant with what would be taking place that day and Dr. Ruth spent a good amount of time answering questions for my daughter and for myself. Very professional, clean, knowledgeable, and vibrant staff!

Negative experience: It actually pains me to write this, but after 4 YEARS and nearly TEN THOUSAND dollars between son and myself, I couldn’t remain silent about this disastrous experience. I started my orthodontic treatment in November 2020 to close the gaps between my teeth. In 2022, I moved two hours away, yet continued to drive to Nashville to continue my treatment (once every 3 months by the way). By November 2024, I still had significant gaps and made the decision to switch to a great orthodontist (Dr. Daniel Sawrie of Chattanooga) who actually gives a damn about my treatment. I should say this: Dr. Ruth is a good orthodontist and she knows her stuff. But I failed to ask questions and force her to take more than a cursory look at my situation and explore more in-depth treatment. I wore the bands, bought her products (a vibrating device that allegedly spurs tooth movement), her branded electric toothbrush and it led to ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Four years later and my son is still in his braces with limited movement. The problem with this practice is they seem to apply a one-size-fits-all approach to all of their patients. Nevermind the fact that strangers are lined up in the same space getting treatment, so everyone can hear your business. It’s the fact that Dr. Ruth spends less than 5 minutes with you during your visits. Most of the time, you’re being seen by a seemingly revolving door of staff (other than the awesome Ms. Eugenia, I never saw the same hygienist more than once). In the beginning, it’s going to be all good because they have to win your business. But over time, I had two specific areas where my teeth would not shift. The over-reliance on “power chains” created so much pain that my dentist advised me to tell Dr. Ruth to make adjustments. Another key difference? Dr. Ruth blamed my overly swollen gums on a nickel allergy (which I knew I didn’t have). Dr. Thomas Van Zyl of Chattanooga took one look at my gums and asked if I was taking blood pressure medication. After few calls between Dr. Van Zyl, Dr. Sawrie, and my doctor and we were able to switch to a medication that allowed that swelling in my gums to subside by a significant margin. That’s the type of professionalism and attention to detail that BDR lacks. But if you want to be in a TikTok or Instagram video, BDR is your place! Speaking of professionalism, I don’t know what the hell is going on, but I’ve had more than one instance where a call was not returned. I know times are hard when it comes to hiring, but I’ve seen friendlier folks at 7-Eleven than the people working the front desk. You don’t have to be bubbly, but you can at least be polite. Dr. Ruth, these folks are the face of your business. The lady in finance is a professional and she was very nice during every interaction; hire more folks like her! Of course, the reason I had to see her is because BDR absolutely made sure to collect their payments! I would’ve preferred to keep all of this offline, but the fact that I never got a return call one month prior to this review told me all I needed to know as far as continuing the business relationship. Sawrie Orthodontics of Chattanooga has been diligent every step of the way and showed me what a great orthodontic practice can look like, including more frequent checkups and staff that actually know your name. BDR can be a great option if your teeth and movement are “normal” and you don’t require anything above the minimum level of treatment. If you want TikTok videos, tokens, and aesthetics, then this is your place. For those who are looking for a more in depth experience where half the patients aren’t squeezed next to you, you might want to look elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I had a pleasant experience at Dr. Ruth's. I called for a free consultation on Monday, and I was seen the very next day. The office is so bright and cheerful as is the staff. Once examined by Dr. Ruth, she assured me that my concerns about my teeth shifting were unwarranted, and that gave me great relief. If you've been worrying about increased spacing between your teeth, go see Dr. Ruth. She will be able to address your concerns one way or the other in a very short period of time. And it will be time well spent.

April your energy is absolutely amazing. Dr. Ruth did not rush her time within my appointment she also listened to my concerns but also reassured me as well. Fantastic experience: Braces by Dr. Ruth is a fantastic place to get your braces done. The staff are very friendly, respectful, and insightful. They give great incentives for having a good checklist of things during your appointment. April was definitely helped out a lot during my first consultation. Dr. Ruth was very personable and breaks things down in great detail for you to understand how things work down the line for your braces journey. Kimberly (I'm pretty sure that's her name) did a great job with installing one set of my braces. Overall, a great experience when being there.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved everything about this place. The environment was very nice, from the front office to the back office the staff were very help and sweet. April Harris was an absolute sweetheart, I loved everything about her energy and professionalism. I have to give it to Dr. Ruth, I honestly see why her office comes highly recommended. You can tell she really took her time with the decor, her staff as well as new patient information. Nothing is left out! To top things off she got me reactive to be registered to vote. We've been in the process for about a year and it is always such a great experience. The entire staff is wonderful, the energy they have is always so down to earth, friendly, and professional.
