Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Dr. McKenzie for many years. The atmosphere in the office is always calming and relaxing. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Dr. McKenzie is professional, but also kind and friendly. He cares about his patients, and has always greeted me with a smile and kind words. I have always had a great experience!

Negative experience: I have mixed feelings about this clinic. I went to see Dr. Wilson two week ago about a toothache caused by a crown placement. I wanted to make sure there was no gum infection possibly causing the toothache. That appt went well. The staff I met two week ago (the front desk receptionist, the hygienist who accompanied me to the exam room and the woman who I had to pay) were friendly and personable. I asked if I could come back to have my teeth cleaned. I was told "Absolutely!". I scheduled my appt and received numerous texts within the two week period about my appt, to confirm my appt and the day of -recommending I arrive 15 min early. I arrived 10 minutes early (since I knew they already had my information). The girl who checked me in barely registered my presence, much less smiled (it was not the same person from 2 week prior). At my 2pm appt I noticed I was the 3rd person to arrive. Several people arrived after me. All were taken back before me. I had to wait 25 minutes to be seen. The hygienist that cleaned my teeth was an older woman. I had told Dr. Wilson at my appt 2 week earlier that I form tartar on my teeth easily...I guess from the chemical composition of my saliva...because I do brush twice a day, floss every day AND use proxy brushes. (I want to include I had gum grafting done by this facility in 11/23 on my 5 lower front teeth and 2 upper teeth costing thousands of dollars.) Said hygienist used a root scaler drill on all my teeth before she used her regular teeth cleaning instrument. Especially on my lower front. I didn't know this could be done and was concerned. I have had 3 other teeth cleanings (every 6 months) before yesterday at my regular dentist, where a root scaler drill was not used on my lower front teeth where the grafting was done. Said hygienist evidently was frustrated at the end of her cleaning, took off her glasses and told me "Sweetheart, you have GOT to start using proxy brushes in between those lower front teeth". Not only was it condescending bc I am sure I am older than her - if not, we're probably the same age. Also, she was telling me to put proxy brushes (however small) in gaps between my lower front teeth (that she just created with that root scaler drill) that were eliminated 23 months ago with the gum grafting surgery they had done. How is it that a place you go to fix your gums creates the same situation that made you go there for surgery in the first place? I expressed my concern about her using the root scaler drill on my lower front teeth when I saw the gaps. She irritatedly told me she has been working for Dr. McKenzie (retired 12/24) for the past 25 years and she knows what she's doing because I am having my teeth cleaned at a periodontist and before I was just having my teeth cleaned at a regular dentist. I thought that was so ironic that a periodontist hygienist would create the very gaps you come to them to fix. I have been in a similar experience at my regular dentist with an older hygienist who felt comfortable doing whatever and using whatever instrument on your teeth because they felt too comfortable doing it and no one complained. I was glad when she retired bc she removed actual gum (doing a cleaning) between two of my upper molars years ago that created a pocket that necessitated a new crown placement 3 weeks ago. So overall, it was a bad experience yesterday from check in to check out. I don't know if the morale is bad there since Dr. McKenzie left, but I did not experience the same friendliness I had experienced two weeks prior. I don't think I will returning.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Wilson and his staff are some of the most caring, friendly, knowledgeable and professional people I have ever known. Dr. Wilson is always honest and straight with me. My hygienist, Neida, does a wonderful job. She is encouraging, but she helps me understand when I need to do a little more work on certain areas. She does such a good job that my regular dentist's hygienist recognized Neida's work and skill! At Dr. Wilson, I am always welcomed with warm and cheerful smiles

Fantastic experience: Fantastic full of knowledge now I know I need to get something done with my teeth and I will be using them I would recommend them to anybody never go to clear choice no good and I'm not highly recommended them due to their error on my tooth that they implanted

Fantastic experience: Front Desk Ladies are very Welcoming and Loving , Chelsey is Excellent at everything she does. I Trust her with my mouth . She treats it as if it was hers. Very thorough. Dr. Wilson is Nice Too.

Negative experience: Very disappointed. I had Lanap surgery that left my jaw with discomfort and constant accidental biting of cheek and tooth sensitivity. Was told this is normal. Later, I had a cleaning down and same day the back of one tooth crumbled in a piece of plain sliced bread that I was chewing. I went back the next day because now my tooth is jagged and my tongue is constantly rubbing this area. I was told that it was just time for my tooth to chip. Dr Wilson said he could smooth it out, but I don't trust that I won't have greater issues that will be brushed off as normal. At least he did say I would not be charged for coming in for him to check the tooth. My confidence has been fractured by this experience.

Fantastic experience: Great people. Excellent expertise, very nice and patient oriented, and the office is outstanding design. The dental experience is very well handled, and Dr Wilson is excellent. He even called me after surgery.

Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with having my teeth cleaned. I have sensitive teeth so they applied something to numb my mouth a little bit so I could not feel any pain. I don’t like to have my teeth cleaned but they are so thoughtful and kind . So I don’t mind having my teeth cleaned any more. No more pain with having them cleaned. Fantastic experience: First time patient at Palmetto Periodontics - WOW no wait time when I arrived the appointment was right on time. Very pleasant reception at the front descend the dental assistant who prepared me to see Dr. James Wilson was outstanding. Dr. Wilson made me feel comfortable, was through in his examination and review of my history and the current problem. He explained the results of his examination and the plan of treatment clearly and in a way that I completely and easily understood it. The facility was spotlessly clean and there was more than adequate parking.

Fantastic experience: Diamond in the cut. Neatly kept. Very nice and respectful receptionist. Check-In was faster than jimmy johns. By the time I turned in my form I was walking towards the back. The Dr. was cool too very informative. My favorite character was Lori!!! She was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Very talkative and friendly. Talked me through my whole teeth cleaning experience. I think she got too excited to clean the plaque off my teeth but I could tell she enjoyed it. So if you know someone that needs a cleaning send em to Lori she gone get em right!!

Fantastic experience: Everything was going wrong in my personal life this morning and it caused me to be 27 minutes late for my surgical procedure. I was severely unprepared. The staff was more than understanding and welcoming. Their calm and helpful demeanor helped to reduce my anxiety. Dr. Wilson still took the time to do another consult to ensure that we were on the same page. They were extremely patient. Rachel and Dr. Wilson performed the operation and it was a success in his opinion, which is good enough for me. Everything was seamless. Tasha the treatment coordinator was also very knowledgeable and fast and got me squared away with a smile. I'll recommend them to everyone and I will most definitely be back. Thank you team!

Fantastic experience: Neida is awesome and has been for years. The only downside to the visit is that damn tablet thing that you have to fight with. Anybody over 60 shouldn't be forced to deal with that crap.

And because of their fear of God, their genuine care for people and job competency they are amazing. Dr McKenzie covers his patients in prayer before every procedure and that means everything to me. I absolutely love the environment, the staff and I have full confidence in their ability to make everything all right with every procedure. They make you want to go to the dentist!

Fantastic experience: It's not the most pleasant of experiences with this procedure but Dr Wilson and his assistant were very professional and efficient. There was no pain afterwards and enough Novocain was injected to greatly minimize pain through the procedure.

Fantastic experience: I had my teeth cleaned and, while not exactly a pleasant experience, I'm sure it was quite thorough (done by Chelsea). Dr. Wilson also checked the "stem" for my new back tooth and it checked out well and I am FINALLY ready to obtain the the new tooth! The Dr. also pointed out a few places I was "over-placking;" accordingly, I will be more cautious in those areas.

Fantastic experience: The dentist i saw was very nice and courteous. He did an excellent job with very little discomfort. Although dentists usually cause me some anxiety , I was able to control it because he confident and professional .

Fantastic experience: Had a follow-up with Dr. Wilson after an extraction 2 weeks ago had no problems return in March for for maintenance cleaning.

Fantastic experience: I was referred for periodontal work to see Dr McKenzie several years ago. I thought he was terrific. So naturally, he decided to retire and we were told that Dr Wilson would be joining the practice and eventually taking it over. So this was the third time I have gone to see him since he became the owner of the practice. I like him. First of all, he is a lot younger than Dr McKenzie but you can tell he is very smart and knows what he’s doing. I have other medical issues and this week he told me how those treatments will be impacting my teeth. I liked the way he patiently explained it all to me. I am 70 - looks like he will be around for a long time and I’m excited about that.

Fantastic experience: My first visit with Dr McKenzie went very well. He explained my situation in plain detail for me (several times). I appreciate the time that he spent with me. At the end of the appointment he gave me a special gift! No doubt we will work well together. I would recommend him highly to anyone looking for a periodontist. Loretta Hill 8/22/2022

Fantastic experience: Dr. Wilson performed a rather complex set of procedures, including extractions and bone grafts. He explained what I was to expect in terms of swelling and discomfort and prescribed the appropriate antibiotics and pain killers along with very specific instructions for post operative care. It has been three days since the procedures and the result has been exactly as he described. I am in awe of his talent.

Fantastic experience: I love my hygienist Neida Rodriguez, not only she's the sweetest, she's very thorough with cleaning my teeth. The transition from Dr. Mckenzie to Dr. Wilson is great. I was worried at first because I was a patient of Dr. Mckenzie for so long, but thank God he left us in good hands. Dr. Wilson is so nice, helpful and he knows his stuff. The whole staff is the best.
