Negative experience: Never going back here I find it super strange and weird that parents cannot go in with there kids unless its truly needed? Like what in the hell? Sorry but idk about you all but thats how kids end up getting hurt. Also they way they do things is just too odd. If not being able to go with your child works for you then go here. Smh

Fantastic experience: My experience at Smile Starters Greensboro NC, was exceptional. From the Desk to the Techs and Dentist, the entire staff was professional, no long wait, very prompt, detailed and efficient. I have not been to any Dental practice were the experience was even close to Smile Starters. VERY IMPRESSIVE.

Negative experience: On December 10, my daughter was denied dental treatment at Smile Starters after I requested a reasonable accommodation for her documented disabilities (Autism and Epilepsy). My daughter has been a patient here since she was 5 years old and has always been treated in a private room with me present. This accommodation is necessary due to her communication barriers, anxiety, and need for routine, and it has never been an issue until this visit. At this appointment, Dr. Flemming refused to allow me to accompany my daughter and stated I could watch her through a glass window instead. When I explained that this would not be appropriate for her disability, the office then refused to treat her and issued a referral, inaccurately citing “behavior issues.” My child does not have behavior problems—she has disabilities that require reasonable accommodations. Staff later gave conflicting explanations, including referencing her seizure history, despite the fact that she has safely received care here for years. It was clear that treatment was denied only after I declined to send her back alone. I am extremely disappointed that Smile Starters chose to deny care rather than accommodate a child with disabilities. Parents of children with special needs should be aware of this experience before scheduling care here.

Even with my daughter being anxious they work with her and get it done. There is always an action plan in place, caps is never the first choice which I like because there are so many other options before that.

Fantastic experience: I went to smile starter’s as a child & I take my kids here — they have been good to us & always comfort my kids being that I can’t go to the back with them now. They deliver information well & I love the friendly appointment reminders. I recommend smile starters. Me & my kids live in thomasville & I still travel to Greensboro for dental service. They referred my child to an office to get teeth extracted & I didn’t like the new office so smile starters handled it & I was happy with the results.

Negative experience: I left Smile Starters absolutely furious and deeply dissatisfied with the care my child received. I came in expecting a specific treatment plan that I genuinely believed was best for my child, and instead of discussing it respectfully, (I will not address as Dr.) Hodge refused to consider it based on what she described as her own personal “beliefs.” I’m sorry, but do we practice medicine based on personal beliefs or based on the patient’s needs and the parent’s informed choices? The lack of professionalism shocked me. Hodge even smirked in my face at the point I decided to remove myself because this could have went all the way wrong! Especially when dealing with someone child. Raised her voice from the other side of the door, which was completely inappropriate in a medical setting. This experience has made it clear: my children will never return to this office. I left feeling unheard, dismissed, and extremely upset about how the situation was handled. And to Hodge: if certain practices are based on your personal beliefs, they should be kept out of the exam room. Families come to medical offices expecting evidence-based care and respectful communication not judgment or confrontation.

Communication was horrible I had to go up and ask and still didn’t get a direct answer just i can reschedule. I have a job i cant keep requesting off to be waiting over an hour. (even after going back to get it corrected) I am not the first person to say this! Their poor work has caused me over 3,000 dollars to fix. triad dental is better I have been taking my younger brothers to this office.

Fantastic experience: New Patient here! I had a great experience. I was seen in a timely manner.Front Desk Workers were Warm and Friendly. Doctors were Attentive, Caring and Extremely Informative which I greatly appreciate.This dentistry is definitely more effective and catered to the young for cleaning and fillings. I (20) was directed to the correct place to go for my more serious case. Definitely recommend this dentistry for your kids! They have a play space and games, as well as safety handles for restrooms to prevent any mishandling or accidents. Fun seating & TV and the space is actually very quiet. Looks well kept and clean even with kids everywhere. Smells fresh and inviting, looking forward to my future appointments. Thanks again Smile Starters!

Negative experience: They need to update their policy, yall are going to lose a lot of business by not allowing these moms in the back with their children, especially under 4 … they don’t know you why would you think a doctor can calm a child better than the person who birthed them? The hospital allows parents in the room, why should the dentist be any different? Switch y’all kids to Triad Dental! They allow parents all the up til whatever age lol I love it!

Negative experience: Normally my experience is fine but today was a waste of time . My son had an appointment at 9 am for a fill only to get there and they tell me that he doesn’t have any cavities and needs to come back in six months for a cleaning.

Fantastic experience: I have been with dentist for the past 12. For both my daughters. They are always friendly & kind. They are awesome reminder systems in place so you will never miss an appointment. Honestly I wouldn’t take my girls anywhere else.

Positive experience: Great staff. Great service. But if they are gonna have a playground there should some rules posted because there was a game called bullying being played. No literally the game was called literally Bully Game. The one who suggested it (9 year old girl) said let’s play bully game, I’m the bully and yall are getting bullied, and immediately walked up to my child. 3 year old girl and said I had that first and took something from her. I intervened. No incidents with parent but it could be. Rules should be posted and the parent who allows their child into the play area should be near and guide their children because it could get messy when parents allow their child rent to bully. Also should be a posted age range. 12 and 13 year old shouldn’t be running in the play area almost knocking over and hurting the small kids who should be playing in that area.

Positive experience: The wait time today was crazy!! Appointment was at 1:45 and we didnt leave for a cleaning only until 3pm.

The girl seemed as if she had an attitude and didn’t want to be bothered ..Not being able to go back with my other kids is also something that bothers me.. However; with my toddler the Doctor and her assistant were both very friendly and polite they answered all my concerns. I do think I’ll be looking for some place else to service my family

Negative experience: I hate this place. Unfortunately it’s the only place in GSO that’s covered by my insurance. First and foremost my son is traumatized, he’s 2. They cleaned his teeth and Maria was hurting him with the mouth prop that wasn’t covered in any kind of sanitary plastic, it was bare and she put it in his mouth, ( I was too focused on my son to notice until after he stopped crying) he was screaming and shaking. So I stopped her. Tried to distract him with Ms. Rachel, it worked a little. I will pay cash OOP elsewhere before I ever bring my son back here as a toddler. I think it’s ludicrous and absolutely absurd that the parent cannot come back to the procedure room with your 2 year old kid if he has cavities (he’s a breast fed baby). I mean the worse is going thru my mind. Are u gonna hit him, retrain him in a straight jacket, pinch him, hurt him? How would I know? I wouldn’t bc I can’t see what’s happening to him. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!! They said they call the straight jacket a “blanket.” Its not! Its a restraint that looks Like a straight jacket. For a 2 year old?!? Are u kidding me??? IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. My son and I have a brushing teeth song where he would brush his teeth and laugh and smile as he tried to brush mine. Not any more. I try to touch his teeth now and he cried. We are BOTH equally traumatized. I left the office crying. I feel like I totally failed him. But 1 things for sure he won’t be back, definitely not as a toddler, or maybe even ever for that matter!

Fantastic experience: Came to the appointment early because of the snow and we were seen in a few minutes, they X-ray my son's teeth and saw that he had two big teeth coming in, so the loss of a tooth was normal.

Negative experience: The experience was just okay. Im a hands on mom. Very much involved in every aspect of my kids life. Not being able to go back with my son especially being that this is his first time at this dentist was mind-blowing. For one my son doesn't know them and I surely do not. I would have felt a bit more comfortable watching how they interacted with him.

Positive experience: I liked that they let me see the pictures of their mouth and explained to me what was going on. I don't like that I couldn't go with my kids in the back. But they did have a window you can look in. I do not like that the dentist did not come out to speak to me and let me know what was going on so I could ask the dentist questions the assistant couldn't answer. I don't like the fact that they only have metal fillings for teeth and no other options for people that don't want to use metal in their children mouths. Some of the staff was snobby .... Children running wild in the waiting room screaming and throwing things I had to sit in the other room so I wouldn't have anxiety from one of the children screaming in my ear. Other than that my children didn't have any problems. Im looking for a different dentist for my youngest for the fact that they don't offer any other covers other than metal covers. It's lames they don't don't have other options other than metal . What does that do to my child's brain in the long run. Couldn't ask the dentist that because they didn't come out so I don't know who worked on my children's mouth. I'm just suppose to have blind faith .. Not cool.

Fantastic experience: My oldest daughter has been going here for years. I had one issue but that was years ago when I had to wait for a very long time for my daughter to be seen. The staff is friendly. The two ladies who cleaned and checked my toddler's teeth did a phenomenal job. The wait was still long but not as long as it was before. The staff was still friendly.

Positive experience: My kids have gone here for years, love it quick, and clean, smooth process. Through experience I have learned it's better to have morning appointments, can get a little chaotic in the afternoons

Negative experience: This place is horrible I'm always here 2hrs or more for a simple cleaning Today my daughter xrays were done multiple times. After sitting for a hour I texted my daughter to see if she was almost done they haven't even started they were discussing when they were gone work SMH.. The guy get his people in and out with no problem I don't know what's going on with the other workers

Negative experience: We went for an appointment yesterday it was scheduled at 1 we were about 12 minutes late but we didn't leave until almost 5 when they were closing for some fillings because the doctor who was supposed to do it was running an hour and a half behind and my daughter still has to go back for them to finish I have never had to wait that long at a dentist office if the doctor was running that far behind why not just reschedule everyone then because we waited all that time and still have to come back very disorganized and displeased with the service.

Negative experience: Terrible experience son needed to be checked to see if teeth were coming in, I couldn't go back with him even tho he's only 2 and they took him out my arms kicking and screaming for me and took him back and put him in a jacket to hold him down instead of me going back to keep him calm. Immediately changed dentists will never go back!

Fantastic experience: So far so good it's my oldest daughter second time coming here So hopefully every time she has an appointment turns out to be just fine with me as long as the job is well done and no complications then I am Ok

Negative experience: The staff here is okay. Sometimes they can be rude though. It’s the long waiting times for me. Also the rude and disrespectful kids from other families. I will be looking for a new dentist.

Negative experience: If you want your child to be in a calming atmosphere and environment, do not choose this place. The lobby area is insane with people letting their kids run around, scream, hit other children, etc. loud parents yelling, not knowing how to conduct business or keep their children sane in a business area, etc. I know it’s not the staffs fault, it’s where this place is located and the type of crowd that they attract. Other than that, the staff was very friendly and nice to my daughter and I. However, I will be looking for another dentist in the future because of the way the waiting area is ran.

Negative experience: Don’t like the fact that you can’t go back there with your kids. They can treat them any kind of way. My daughter is 16 and told me they kept doing her and her 6 year brother’s x-rays over multiple times. Told me both my kids have 5 cavities each when I take them every 6 months and take very great care of their teeth and they have no pain and I can’t see none of these said cavities. No treatment plan was printed out for either one of my kids and they said their picture has to be taken for each appt due to insurance fraud. I wonder why.
