Fantastic experience: Absolutely love everything about this office. Upon entering I am greeted by friendly faces every time at the front desk and my wait is never long as they are always punctual. Dr. Nguyen is my dentist and she’s great. Her warm personality and humor really lightens up any anxiety you may have about dental visits. She is extremely honest and doesn’t try to get you to get various procedures done unless it is absolutely deem necessary. Also, I really appreciate how she always tries to do everything possible to resolve an issue before deciding to do a more serious procedure. The hygienists at the office as well are all very nice. I see Lan or Monika for my routine teeth cleanings and both are sweet and thorough! I actually look forward to my bi-annual teeth cleanings because they both make the process very therapeutic. They never scold me for not flossing as much as I should, but always remind and encourage me to do so more diligently. Overall, If you are looking for a new dental office where the entire office staff is professional and friendly, this is the office for you! I’ve never been a fan of going to the dentist growing up, but I actually look forward to all of my visits here because I know I’m in great hands. 10/1/2025: updating to share this dental office is still one of the best in town! The staff is very attentive and checks on you regularly. I recently had an appointment this past week for a procedure and because the staff and doctors work so efficiently with each other, I was out within a reasonable time.

The space itself is beautiful, with a calming aesthetic and relaxing vibe—you almost forget you’re at the dentist! They even provide blankets in the rooms, and the chairs are incredibly comfortable. The office uses state-of-the-art equipment, and both the doctors and hygienists were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Honestly, it felt more like a spa visit than a dental appointment. Positive experience: EDIT: They sold me a toothpaste for $36 that I found online for less than $20. Also, I was not informed that this cost extra money until leaving the chair when the toothpaste was already in my bag and I was in front of everyone. Always clean, professional, and gets me in and out super fast! Best dentist experience I have had in a while.

Negative experience: I have always enjoyed visiting Exceptional Dental for my dental needs until this last visit.

Positive experience: Nice office and people seem friendly enough, but I can't shake the feeling of being upsold without consent. It seems like they're finding ways to tack on $40-100 per visit with asterisk uncharges that aren't disclosed prior.

Negative experience: This was unfortunately the worst dental experience I've ever had. During my cleaning, the hygienist was cutting into my gums, causing them to bleed. I even mentioned my concern in the moment, saying, “I think you’re cutting into my gums,” to which she responded that the bleeding was due to plaque buildup. In my understanding, plaque removal should not involve cutting into healthy gum tissue. I never saw the dentist, either. There was nothing particularly professional or reassuring about the visit, and overall, I left feeling uncomfortable and dissatisfied. I wouldn’t recommend this practice based on my experience.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely LOVE this dentist. Very caring and thoughtful. Address all concerns. HONEST. They don't give a 9 page print out of unnecessary work to be done. One dentist recommended ALL of my mercury filling i started getting approximately 50 years ago be removed and replaced with the white filling; not sure of material, but probably porcelain. He said my teeth were starting to crack at filling lines and cosmetically would look better. Most are molars so you don't see them anyway. I had quite a few cavities as a child so you can only imagine the estimate. And, if that wasn't bad enough, they had to be replaced every 8 to 10 years. I begrudgingly let him do ONE. I was there 5 hours with my mouth locked open. When they finished my TMJ was exacerbated and the bite on the tooth was off. They even tried filing it down. I found Exceptional dentist and the dentist said that removing my fillings was not necessary and that some of them last a lifetime. He confirmed none of them were cracked. Had a cleaning and fixed a chipped tooth and left without a page of recommendations. Beautiful, clean interior, offer wine and water. Massage chairs for those waiting for others. On time. Above and beyond in courtesy and accommodating. You will not be disappointed AND, they are very good with pediatric patients and those with phobias.

Negative experience: It had been nearly three years since my last dental visit — not due to negligence, but because of a prior negative experience that left me with lingering anxiety about seeking dental care. When I found your office through research, everything I read suggested your team was understanding, compassionate, and patient-centered — exactly the kind of care I hoped for to overcome my fears. When I made my appointment, I was transparent about my anxiety and dental history. I took a day off work specifically for this visit, believing I would be in good hands. At check-in and again with the clinical staff, I shared my concerns, hoping for a reassuring and patient-focused experience. While the appointment began with routine X-rays, things began to unravel shortly after. The dentist made comments that implied my previous care was subpar, which felt unnecessary and unprofessional. Then came an extensive list of procedures that felt more like upselling than treatment planning. It left me feeling like my concerns were secondary to revenue. The situation worsened when the hygienist came in. I had something scheduled later that day, and we were running late — yet I hadn't even received a cleaning. As I tried to quickly send an email to reschedule another appointment, I was rudely interrupted and asked to stop. That moment broke any remaining trust I had. I was stunned to learn that I wouldn’t be receiving a cleaning at all. This is completely foreign to me; every new patient exam I’ve ever had has included a cleaning. I don’t understand why that wasn’t communicated beforehand. The hygienist’s approach was also rough, and when I flinched in discomfort, I felt more judged than cared for. What followed felt transactional: a treatment plan focused on costly procedures, with no genuine discussion about preventive care — like the cleaning I came in for. By that point, I was emotionally exhausted and declined to return. I was politely ushered out the door, but I felt dismissed — not heard or valued. Your website paints a picture of compassionate care, but my experience felt like a bait-and-switch. I came hoping to be treated as a person with real fears and needs. Instead, I felt like a dollar sign. That kind of environment is exactly what makes people like me — those with dental anxiety — stay away, even when we want to take care of our health. I hope you take this feedback seriously, not as an attack, but as a plea to improve the experience for patients like me in the future. Your practice has the opportunity to make a real difference, but only if your actions match your promises.

Negative experience: I strongly advise against seeking care at Exceptional Dentistry—a name that unfortunately does not reflect their service. My experience was marked by poor coordination, misdiagnosis, and what appears to be a prioritization of profit over patient care. During my visit, the dentist incorrectly diagnosed my concern and offered no clear path forward except to schedule four separate follow-up appointments—as a new patient each time—due to their inability to align their hygienist (booked out 6–7 months) and doctor (1–2 weeks) schedules. This is a blatant systems failure and a clear sign of disorganization within the practice. What’s worse is that rather than fix the scheduling conflict or streamline care, they expected me to disrupt my work and personal life repeatedly to accommodate their inefficiencies. It's a model that seems designed to increase billing opportunities—by dragging out treatment and racking up insurance claims and copays—at the expense of patients' time and well-being. This is not just inconvenient. It’s bad practice, and frankly, unethical. If a dental office cannot accommodate its own scheduling or provide consistent care, perhaps they should stop accepting new patients until they can manage their current load responsibly. There is nothing exceptional about this group—except, perhaps, their greed and disregard for patient experience.

Fantastic experience: Doctor Nguyen is an excellent dentist. She listens patiently and understands what you need. Dr. Nguyen is meticulous, caring and gentle. She is a perfectionist. Also, the dental hygienist is excellent. After she cleaned my teeth I felt great . Thank You for all your help.

Negative experience: My experience through the years: The dentist will not let you choose the color of your crown therefore you end up with a molar darker than the rest of your teeth. When you point it out you’re told it’s natural so no extra work needs to be done. Multiple unnecessary fillings on one tooth to color match because they couldn’t get it right or shaped correctly many times. Very unprofessional and rude desk service staff. Random cancelations on set appointments from months prior. Change of hours without notice and cancelation of appointments due to it without rescheduling opportunity any time in the following 6 months. Wrong hours still advertised online. “Lost opponents” on their system after having confirmation.

Fantastic experience: While vacationing near St. Petersburg I broke two teeth! Clearly an emergency situation. I was referred here by friends and was not disappointed. They got me in quickly, treated me like gold, all staff were informative about the process and were quite gentle in their treatment of me. I highly recommend Exceptional Dental of St. Petersburg and will be sure to go back to them as needed.

Negative experience: I am disappointed in that the only work done was cleaning. There was no XRay or examination by the dentist even though I informed the hygienist that a large chunk of one of my molars had broken off and was painful. She identified the tooth in question and said that the dentist would be notified. However, again there was no review by the dentist and I was not scheduled to see the dentist until December 2025. I am confused as to why this appointment only resulted in cleaning and not an x-ray or again examination by the dentist. Please let me know what can be done. Thank you, Robert Buchanan.

I have had much work done on my teeth and I have quite a phobia about going to the dentist. She understood my trauma and was quite thorough and concerned about my level of comfort. Fantastic experience: First time to visit and they were able to fit me into their tight schedule so that I could see about a crown. They made me very comfortable and took me right back in for some final adjusting to make it perfect.

Negative experience: Stunned by the fact I couldn’t get a regular cleaning I was not informed before hand that my insurance didn’t cover all of the X-rays 18 plus a 360 is a bit much nor was I told what a deep bacterial cleaning required (numbing) Insurance covered almost none and even though I was willing to return for the deep cleaning when I had time I was denied a basic cleaning. Unheard of and utterly ridiculous

Negative experience: My hygienist was friendly but was extremely rough and rushed. When she polished my teeth, she ran across all of them and instead of going one by one and she put it in full speed. When she flossed my teeth, she was rushing.

Fantastic experience: I was there for a cleaning, x-rays and Dr check. The hygienist did a great job. She was very through cleaning my teeth and checking my gums. The x-rays are much more comfortable and faster than the old way. They have the newer type unit that takes seconds. The operator stays and doesn't have to leave the room, so you're not ever left holding the uncomfortable film in your mouth each time she leaves the room. The dentist is very nice. She checked my mouth and adjusted my bite so my teeth hit more evenly as I had requested. I had a very good experience.

Positive experience: I really like Dr. Nguyen personally, but the office is way too busy for uninterrupted appointments, or to get you back in for urgent visits when needed. There tends to be long wait times because they treat multiple people at a time. I got composite bonding done on 3 teeth last Monday after finishing Invisalign treatment, and I’ve been dealing with bite issues and discomfort, which I feel is due to too many interruptions during our scheduled time. One of the teeth that was bonded also chipped the very next day, and in my opinion I should have been able to come in within days to have it fixed. I was able to get an appointment 10 days later only because I called them 3 times stating how uncomfortable my teeth were. Initially they had only offered me an appointment for the first week of January which is actually insane. So depending on your dental needs, this office may be too busy for you.

Fantastic experience: Going to the dentist is not my idea of a good time. I am trying to get healthy, so I made an appointment, and everything about this place was very nice. Stella took me back and she calmly explained how everything worked. Dr. Nguyen was amazing. I actually left the appointment not only relieved but anxious to start a healthy new outlook on my teeth.

Fantastic experience: Been coming here for about a year and a half now and had a bad case of sticker shock when I needed some oral surgery and my insurance seemingly sucked. Today after my regular cleaning, their office manager came and spent time explaining my insurance benefits and options to get the needed work done and got me scheduled on short notice for it. Exceptional Dental really is exceptional. The way my stress level dropped after that explanation was incredible. Thank you!

I unfortunately ended up having several issues after neglecting the health of my teeth for several years, but Dr. Nguyen, Dr. Delassen and the rest of the staff took great care of me in getting my oral health back on track! Fantastic experience: I made a new patient appointment with them about 3wks ago. The fact they got me in so quick as a new patient was awesome! When I got there, I was greeted by the friendly ladies at the front. Paige called me to the back to do my exams and xrays - and she was AMAZING! Paige was super quick and literally talked me through the whole process and got the xrays on the first try! Dr. Nyguen came in and was absolutely amazing! To have a Dentist fully listen to you and your goals with your teeth was so relieving! She came up with an exact game plan for me! Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I had an issue come up while visiting St. Petersburg. I found this practice through a Google search. They are professional, personable and the office is very nice. Dr. Nguyen was thorough and explained everything well. I would definitely continue with this practice for any dental needs.

Fantastic experience: My baseline new patient exam was the most comprehensive I've ever had! The high tech 3D scanner was quick and easy. It identified bone loss and other defects. Most of all, the dentist identified tiny cracks beginning in two teeth that need monitoring. I had lots of questions and he answered everything satisfactorily and in detail. He even had a little wand with a camera on it and he showed me the cracks on a 55 inch tv right in front of me. Paige, the hygienist, has a great personality and went over my dental care plan with me. The front office staff, Alex and Bren, are wonderful and were very much the reason I chose this dental practice.

Fantastic experience: I saw Dr. Thuy Nguyen as a new patient and she was wonderful! She was friendly, warm, genuine, patient, and thorough. She answered all my questions and went through each imaging to discuss the issues I'm having with my teeth. Sally, the dental hygienist did a great job. Stella, the dental assistance was wonderful. The front desk staff was fantastic, too. The check-in process was easy. I will definitely recommend Dr. Nguyen and her staff to those who are seeking dental care!

Fantastic experience: I discovered this dentist when I took my kid there. I was so happy because I'd been going somewhere else for years that I really didn't like, but it was convenient and I was lazy. Now we both go to Exceptional Dental. The staff is nice, attentive, and professional and they seem happy to be there. The facilities are lovely. It feels like you're getting thorough treatment and they're not trying to upsell you on cosmetic stuff. Glad to have found them.
