Fantastic experience: Jay did a very good job with my cleaning!

Negative experience: My mom was informed in advance that her procedure would be fully covered by insurance. After arriving for her appointment and waiting over an hour, she was told that coverage was uncertain and that the office would follow up on Monday. The office had three weeks prior to the appointment to verify insurance coverage. This lack of communication was unprofessional and inconsiderate of her time.

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted with the way I was treated by the receptionist at this clinic. I called on a Wednesday to set up an emergent appointment for Friday since that was the earliest they could get me in. I called at 11 AM on Friday to confirm my 2 PM appointment since I never received any new client forms to my email or a confirmation that I even had my appointment. I was left on hold for six minutes then hung up on I called back only for the receptionist to pick up the phone and immediately placed me back on hold without even saying a word to me. I then sat on hold for 45 minutes. I decided to grab my other phone and call the clinic ensure enough they picked up. I told the man that picked up the phone what had just happened at first he didn’t even apologize just asked me for my name and last name. I gave it to him and then explained to him what happened he gave me some monotone speech about how they care about their clients and pride themselves in being professional.. I decided after this experience to go ahead and just cancel my appointment. I didn’t feel comfortable going in after the receptionist was so rude to me. I will absolutely never come here. It’s a shame I didn’t even get any help. I’m sure the dentist is just fine though I never met them. But I will never really know because their front desk staff made sure to lose me as a patient before I could even come through the door.

Positive experience: My initial wait was a tad long but once I was seen, it was a nice experience. All of the staff was pleasant and professional. The office was modern and clean. I will be back in a few months for another cleaning.

Negative experience: Extremely poor customer service at the front desk. I have been a long term customer but it appears that the front desk staff is indifferent to the needs of customers.

Fantastic experience: Jay did an amazing job with my deep cleaning. He was friendly, attentive and really put me at ease. Dr Holloway was friendly and informative when going over what issues I had. The entire staff was nice and made the visit a breeze. I highly recommend Ideal Dental in Sunnyvale.

Positive experience: Everybody is real nice. The only problem I had was my appointment was at 2:00pm, I'm there during my lunch hour and I didn't go back for my appointment til 2:45pm.

Fantastic experience: The hygienist are always very gentle and honest. Yesterday I had the best hygienist ever and the dentist yesterday was very transparent on my recommended care plan.

Negative experience: My husband went in for treatment for a tooth that he bit into a piece of meat and he felt pain. After a visit a temp crown was put on,and came off not even 24hrs later. He was in excruciating pain. Told them that at next vist for the second temp crown. No xray and clearly not a thorough exam of his tooth. Yet, another temp crown came off. The tooth is cracked and they didn't notice on the last visit,but I did with eyes. My husband paid over 600.00 cash money. The tooth had to be extracted because of their incompetence, They go and pad a treatment plan so they would not have to do a refund. The extraction was 147.00 with the insurance. He calls today and they are waiting on insurance? For what? He didn't do any other services. Now they want us to wait on our money?crooks

Staff were incredibly friendly. Specifically, Sarah and Dr. Wakefield are the reasons I continue my services at this dental office. They gave me clear reviews over my dental health and clear instructions when ordering Invisalign and the process after. I trust them and no longer feel nervous about continuing services for my dental health. Every time I have a question, even if I don’t have an appointment, I can call them and they always help me out every time. Negative experience: I have been a patient at this dental office for well over 11 years, back when it was still known as Sunnyvale Smiles. Unfortunately, since the transition to Ideal Dental, my experiences have consistently declined, and at this point, I feel compelled to share my concerns. First, I understand wait times as a healthcare worker, but despite scheduling most of my appointments at 8 a.m. (their opening time), I almost always end up waiting 30+ minutes to be seen. This has been a repeated frustration. Second, the interactions with a couple of the ladies at the front desk have been very disappointing. On multiple occasions, I’ve experienced unprofessional communication both in person and over the phone. My insurance and CareCredit information have been on file for years, yet I am often asked to re-provide it. On top of that, I have been pressured into paying out of pocket for services such as fluoride varnish, with staff claiming my information “wasn’t on file” despite my CareCredit card being active (and in use for my Invisalign payments). Even when I provided my card number, I was told “nothing came up.” The most recent situation with my veneer was the final straw. I elected to have a single non-prep veneer placed, which required going to a lab for a color match. Despite reassurances that it shouldn’t take long, my appointment was canceled at the last minute because the veneer “wasn’t ready.” When it did arrive, I rescheduled for 8 a.m. after a night shift, only to be told at check-in that my balance was due in full, despite previously being given the option to use CareCredit with monthly payments. The young lady at the front desk was dismissive and unhelpful, and only after another staff member intervened was the mistake corrected. After waiting 40 minutes, the veneer was finally tried in, and it was completely wrong. The color was off, it was opaque, and it turned out the lab had made it in the wrong material altogether. This was a complete waste of time and effort, especially considering I had just gotten off of work. To add to my concerns, I recently witnessed a male dental assistant wearing Meta glasses during my appointment. This raised serious HIPAA concerns for me, as I had no assurance whether or not he was recording during my cleaning. After over a decade of loyalty to this office, I am deeply disappointed in the repeated unprofessionalism, lack of organization, billing issues, and now major clinical errors. I truly wish my experience had been better, but after so many negative encounters, I will be seeking care elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Ideal Dental going on over 2 years now. Dr. Wakefield and her are beyond amazing. They're always in an upbeat spirit and always assuring that every client is attended to. Anytime I have an issue or concern they get me in right away. I can honestly say this Dental office is by far the best that I've been to in all of my adult years!!

Positive experience: My experience is usually good but not today the dentist examined my mouth and said my teeth and gums look good and fine. Then the hygienist chrsti came in and scraped the crap out of my teeth and gums causing bleeding. She also chipped a filling of one of my teeth. It made no sense for Christi to be that ruff in my mouth with her instruments. This made the dentist confused and upset because she had to put in a new filling in my tooth. I hope the dentist will have a talk with her after I post my recent experience today with ideal dental.

Fantastic experience: Great experience as far as dentists go. Seems very advanced and great staff.

Negative experience: Make you feel great but they are intending to maximize the services they want to use vs the service you coming in for. Had a long term sports injury that left a tooth not there, not cheap. Instead of start on that. They wanted to run through 4-5 stages that would mean the service I’m requesting is done last after all insurance benefits are extinguished. They submitted 5k of dental services to my insurance after x rays and then a cleaning. Let that sink in. 5k for x rays and a tooth cleaning.

Fantastic experience: My visit to Ideal Dental was very pleasant. I hadn’t been to the dentist in years due to a bad experience but I decided to give Ideal a try, I’m so happy that I did. The staff were amazing and very accommodating.

Negative experience: Updated Review – New crown had issues. Dentist had me come in. Never saw me another dentist came in and said I would have to be sent to a specialist. Front desk offered no solutions. Warranty would not cover. Found a new dentist. The post was loose. Pair them to fix it and got a new crown. Tooth feels great. Glad I didn’t pull it. My experience with Ideal Dental Sunnyvale TX (part of DECA Dental Group) has been overwhelmingly negative, and I still wouldn’t recommend them for anything beyond routine cleanings, fillings, or services where the dentist has full control over the outcome. That said, I want to give credit to Dr. Herrera, who has been a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating journey. Recently, I needed to have a crown warrantied, and Dr. Herrera went above and beyond to ensure the process was smooth. They fit me in last-minute, explained everything clearly, and took extra care to save the tooth when it cracked along with part of the old crown. She spent more time than expected to ensure it was done correctly, and in the end, the tooth was saved without any additional cost to me. I genuinely wish she had been there from the start—maybe my Invisalign experience would have turned out differently. If you decide to try this location, I highly recommend asking for Dr. Herrera. That said, Ideal Dental as a company has been a nightmare. My Invisalign treatment, originally sold with a 5-year smile guarantee, stretched from months into years due to constant dentist turnover, mismanagement, and changes to the treatment plan. One dentist even filed my teeth without consent, leaving me with sloppy, uneven results. When I finally finished treatment, they tried to charge me extra for services that were initially promised, including retainers, trays, and whitening. After fighting to get what was owed, I went through their whitening process only to see almost no results. They ran out of whitening gel and made me return, where they attempted to charge me again. I reached out to DECA Dental Group, the BBB, and Ideal Dental directly, but received no meaningful resolution. I’m grateful for Dr. Herrera and her exceptional care, but my Invisalign journey remains unfinished, and the company has yet to honor its original promises. For now, I’ll leave this review at 3 stars, with room for an update if they choose to make things right. Until then, I would not recommend Ideal Dental for orthodontic or cosmetic work. Original review tldr Avoid Ideal Dental Sunnyvale TX for orthodontic or cosmetic dentistry. My Invisalign treatment was poorly managed with constant staff changes, broken promises, and sloppy work, including unauthorized teeth filing. Promised services like retainers and whitening were delayed or charged extra, despite being included in the plan. Efforts to resolve issues with DECA Dental Group, the BBB, and Ideal Dental were ignored. Save your time, money, and sanity—go elsewhere for anything beyond routine care

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience with my appointment yesterday. I’m terrified of going to the dentist because of bad experiences in the past but Dr. Herrera was very thorough and made sure I didn’t feel anything during my root canal!! I can’t remember the assistants name but she was very kind and patient as well and made sure I was as comfortable as possible❤️ 10/10 recommend!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Lorena Herrera is hands down the best dentist in the DFW metroplex. Thank god I found her because I was in the verge of giving up on dentists. In the past I’ve had dentists continue to drill even though anesthesia was wearing off, I’ve had dentists crack my lips from stretching my mouth open, and I’ve had dentists use brute strength and try to create leverage of my other teeth causing severe discomfort for many days after my visit. Dr. Herrera listens to her patients feedback and responds quickly and accordingly. She is patient and kind and uses her tools expertly to fix the issues instead of rushing or trying to get to the next patient as quickly as possible. Also, each time she has worked on my, she takes the time to explain to her assistant what she’s doing and why she’s doing it; I assume helping to mentor them so they can one day become dentists as well. I have had so many bad experiences at so many dentists that when Dr. Herrera moved offices I followed her. I met her near my home in Lewisville, where a dental office was trying to force more expensive procedures than I needed. She left there and I followed her to frisco, then Addison, and now Sunnyvale. Dr. Herrera is simply the best and she will forever be my dentist and the dentist of my 2 little boys.

Fantastic experience: From the first time we met Dr.Herrera, we knew she would be our dentist for life! She understands our anxieties and is so patient and caring. We would literally go ANYWHERE to keep her as our family dentist. Never in my life have I been comfortable at the dentist and avoided it for years due to fear and anxiety—no longer! Dr. Herrera is by far the best dentist ever and our family will trust no one else with our care.

The dental assistant who took me back to my room was very kind and put me at ease as they could tell I was a little nervous. Next I met with a Hygienist name Jessica who was very thorough and really took her time to breakdown for me my exam in a way that not only made sense to me but made me feel like she actually cared about what was going on with me. I was seen by Dr. Wakefield and I could not ask for a better doctor. I needed some work done and she took the time to walk me through it step by step so I would be as comfortable as possible. Even going over finances and checking out was a breeze! You can really tell that everyone here cares about the service they are providing to their patients!

Negative experience: The front desk moves your appointments without letting you know, they moved my appointment without me knowing, I scheduled online at 3:30pm and the front desk guy working there had called me to ask me to move my appt to 3:00pm I told him no because I had already took off work and could not come in at that time, being the reason why I scheduled my appt at 3:30pm, when I get to the office they tell me that my appt was at 2pm , and the guy at the front desk played dumb because he had spoken to me on the phone and I told him I would not be moving my appt. So don’t use them for any dental services unless you want your whole day ruined.

Fantastic experience: If you need work done, I can't recommend Sarah and Dr. Wakefield enough. They make a fantastic team! Sarah fixed me after a temporary crown broke from someone else and she did an awesome job. Seriously, hands down ask for these 2!

Fantastic experience: I really liked Dr. Wakefield, she was awesome and so was Jessica. I don't remember the young lady's name who took my xrays, she was great and very gentle. I would definitely recommend this group!

Fantastic experience: I had to change dentist after 10 years and new insurance. I was not happy about it at all. But once here all that changed Kristyn the dental assistant couldn’t have been more welcoming nice and attentive. Then the dentist herself Dr Stephanie Wakefield was so thorough she explained everything so clearly did a few fillings and i didn’t any discomfort. I would recommend them to anyone. And can’t wait to return to complete the small work i have left to address.

Negative experience: I have been a patient for about 10 years and I was always happy here until recently. Things changed and now this dental office is money hungry, dishonest, and have no integrity whatsoever. I showed up for my most recent appt for perio maintenance and they told me I owed $50 from my last appt. Yet I never got a bill and they never offered to print off the explanation of benefits. Any other type of Dr sends a bill in the mail if you have an outstanding balance- and I got nothing- in 3 months. They just expected me to have it when I showed up for my appointment. They always push antibiotics and irrigation for $100+ that insurance does not cover. I have to tell them repeatedly that I can’t afford the extra costs. The high pressure is stressful and anxiety provoking. At my most recent appt, I verified my coverage before I went and it’s a good thing too. I was told by my insurance company that my perio maintenance is covered at 100%. But they tried to tell me I had to meet a deductible of $50. I refused to pay it and asked them to try again. And they came back and told me that I was right. Fast forward a month later and I’m looking at my explanation of benefits and they billed my insurance company $1300 for damn perio maintenance and my ins company says my out of pocket cost is $1200. This company has turned into nothing but a bunch of scammers! STAY AWAY!!!!

Fantastic experience: Everyone was professional & friendly . I felt comfortable . Over all a Lovely staff . Great office to visit my dental needs .
