Fantastic experience: I have had extensive work done by Dr. Shadee after years of neglect on my part. This has included extractions, implants and crowns. Dr. Shadee and his staff have been excellent! I have had a fear of dentists for years but their professionalism and skill have completely changed my mind. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Once upon a time, I got a mailer about how they handle patients with dentist anxiety and I've been coming here ever seen. I can't say that the anxiety has completely gone away, but they handle it well, no matter who's working as my hygienist. The bedside manner is perfect, even when I'm being awkward. Positive experience: My nine children and I have been with Pennino for years. The doctors are wonderful both in personality as well as their work. The assistants and staff are also fantastic. The group is very detailed and takes time in their dentistry, including cleanings. The atmosphere is lovely, very clean and professional. The only reason I did not give five stars is due to the fact that they are significantly more expensive than most. I have personally found it worth paying the extra costs, as painful as it is, after years of nightmares with awful dentists. I have never felt that they have missed anything important, nor have they pushed for unnecessary work to be done. The cleanings are the most thorough I have ever experienced. If you are willing to dig a little deeper in your pockets to have the knowledge and peace that comes from having doctors you can trust- go to Pennino!

The entire office staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Dental assistants and hygienists are also knowledgeable and do great work.

The facility used an air filter to purify the air , temperature checks, sanitation as well as use of proper PPE. My DA Caroline is just the BEST! Makes my teeth sooo white and clean! Along with her confident handling of oral hygiene and radiation technology she has mastered the ability to communicate, that is the ability to anticipate and answer unasked questions. She prepared me for what I would hear, see or feel at each point and how to minimize and signal any distress. Her kindness, gentleness, thoughtfulness and thoroughness are qualities I always appreciate and look for when selecting healthcare professionals. Fantastic experience: Due to multiple ongoing dental issues, I have had to be at the dentist more than desired in the last 4 months. I have had nothing but a great experience with the three dentists I’ve seen so far (Drs. Shadee, Sam, and Chase), as well as their dental hygienist, Priscilla, and assistants Dulce, Alo, and Nicole. Everyone has been extremely professional, knowledgeable, and caring. My husband and kids will be switching to this practice as well as a result of my experience. I would highly recommend them!

Negative experience: I had a bad experience in the Pennino Family Dentistry located at 203 W Northwest Hwy, Barrington, IL 60010. Pennino Family Dentistry charge a lot. They provide a poor quality dental work.

Fantastic experience: Got a crown done by Dr Shadee and Lucy! They were both super great! Made sure I was comfortable, walked me through the whole process. They even had some extra numbing agent on hand after I had mentioned that I had an experience before where I needed some! So glad to have them as a team!

Negative experience: I am truly upset with how my time was taken advantage of and wasted by these people. Spoke with Amy and we were getting things sorted out and the day of she cancels on me. This wasnt the first time either. We have been going back and forth on some procedures, she constantly drags on responding. Just doesn't value your time or respect it either. Thankfully I have found a better office since that is also more budget friendly and people that actually take the time to get to know the person

Fantastic experience: Let’s be real, no one actually enjoys going to the dentist, and I personally have a huge fear of going (traumatic past experiences). But that being said, everyone in the office does an outstanding job of making sure you are comfortable and that your entire visit is as easy and as painless as possible. I can’t imagine going anywhere else. On this visit, Carol was a huge help with figuring out my insurance coverage and working with my insurance provider to get an estimate on what would be covered, so I can better plan for some of the dental work I need to have done. I had tried contacting my insurance provider myself with no success, so I really appreciated Carol’s effort.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Douglas Peninno and his two sons are great Dentists. I have been going to them for years and I am very pleased. They have a beautiful office and great staff. Another great experience today however it was a little disappointed to find out. I might need another procedure because I have great teeth. All this stuff has to do with getting older.

Negative experience: It’s with mixed feelings that I’m leaving a poor review here, as the staff is incredibly kind and professional, and it’s clear that they really care about what they do. However, transparency on billing, as has been mentioned on a few other reviews, is a really big issue, as has been upselling services during the appointments. That has left us with very high bills- a recent routine cleaning my wife had was charged at 622 dollars, almost all of it uncovered or rejected by insurance. Although we really enjoy the professionalism and service delivered by the practice, this lack of transparency and high cost is untenable for a young family- and we will have to make a switch.

Fantastic experience: Going to Pennino Family Dentistry is like going to the spa. The environment is really relaxing; they have a full comfort menu of things you can request, the whole staff is very welcoming and attentive, and they are so good at what they do that you hardly notice you are having any work done. Having the X-rays and cleaning done was such a breeze I almost fell asleep in the chair! Also, I really appreciated that the hygienist, Samantha, and Dr. Shadee went above and beyond to address my concern of teeth grinding. I will be referring all my friends and family here!

Negative experience: I've been a patient of Pennino for approximately four to five years. Initially, I was very pleased with the service and the team; they were exceptional. However, over the last two years, my experience has significantly declined, leading me to provide this three-star review. Firstly, I've encountered persistent issues with billing and insurance. Claims have been incorrectly filed on multiple occasions, and my wife was incorrectly billed under my insurance, despite not being on my policy. I've had to contact the office dozens of times to rectify these mistakes, which has been both time-consuming and frustrating. Secondly, the constant upselling has become a point of contention for me. While I understand the necessity of business growth, the frequent attempts to sell additional services, both in-person and via text, have been overwhelming and, frankly, off-putting. Lastly, my final visit did not meet my expectations, which, compounded by the previous issues, led me to reassess my continuation of services with Pennino. The value of any service is measured by the ease and benefit it brings to one's life; unfortunately, in this case, it has become more of a burden. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as my initial years with Pennino were met with satisfaction. It is with reluctance that I find myself looking elsewhere for services that once brought me peace of mind.

Fantastic experience: I am a new patient. I must say that they're all very friendly and thorough. Everyone took their time and especially Priscilla the Hygienist explaining things such as next steps for my smile. in addition, the doctor was extremely detailed in his explanations as to my next dental steps to improve my smile. She is always positive, interesting to talk with, gives excellent explanations, is very thorough, and encourages me to do all I can to keep my teeth/ mouth healthy. Carolyn is my absolute favorite hygienist :) she does very thorough and skillful work, which is accompanied by a beautifully contagious personality :) Never thought I would be excited for my next visit but this was a great experience and I will for sure be back.

Fantastic experience: It's been some time since I've been to Pennino Dentistry due to logistical issues. While the facility has been significantly upgraded @ a new location from ten years ago, the focus on customer care/satisfaction remains as it was... at a high bar. With the next generation Pennino boys in place, Pennino's Dentistry is the place to go for the foreseeable future.

Fantastic experience: I landed at Pennino Family Dentistry many years ago after having been in a bike accident at 16, having endured years of dental trauma. I have been through more dentists than one might imagine and have NEVER received the level of excellence, compassion and care that I have received from Dr. Pennino, his wonderful sons and his extraordinary staff. They each contribute more than I can say to turning what could be traumatic experiences into reasons for hope and joy. I also cannot say enough about Dr. Jeff Bonk who has joined them and literally rebuilt my mouth. Fantastic experience: Our family members are loyal patients (fans really) of Pennino Family Dentistry. We actually enjoy visiting because of the professionalism in area of the practice. The atmosphere is wonderful in the waiting area with the giant scrabble board, fish tanks, and kid friendly seating, and more. The reception are is inviting and the reception area is inviting and the receptionist are enthusiastic, friendly, and relationship focused. We feel welcome, important, and part of the family. The doctor, dentists, and hygienists are warm, friendly, engaging, and genuinely interest in us as patients and people. Their approach is wholistic, disciplined, and collaborative. Continuity of care is important to Pennino Family Dentistry and to me. I really appreciate the focus on creating ongoing plans for hygiene and any additional treatments procedures essential to optimal dental health. Fantastic experience: This was my first visit to the Pennino family dentistry, but I’m sure it will be the first of many. My mom, dad, and brother all go here and it was time for me to switch from my childhood dentist to an adult one. I figured with their good experiences I might as well give Pennino a try, and I’m glad I did. As a first time patient, they were extremely thorough and made sure to cover all the bases. I had a couple concerns regarding a chipped tooth and some sweetness sensitivity on my back teeth, and they addressed them completely. My past dentist basically ignored my sweetness sensitivity because it wasn’t a cavity, but these guys listened to my concerns and worked with me to try out some treatments. Everyone working from the receptionist, to the dental hygienists, to the Dr. himself (I had Connor) were all kind and courteous. Even though COVID is on its way out, everyone was wearing masks, and wearing them PROPERLY, which I appreciated. I originally had an appointment for a month out from when I called them yesterday, but asked to be put on the cancellation list. Later that day they called me and said they had an opening for today if I was able to make it work. I really appreciate that they followed through and on such short notice. Overall my experience here was 100% positive, as I felt they were all extremely pleasant and very good with communication throughout the whole process. I will definitely return here for my check ups.

My plastic retainer broke and Dr. Chase was so accommodating with me - scanning me for a new one and coming up with a custom solution for me. I left feeling like a very valued customer!

Fantastic experience: Cannot say enough good things about Pennino Family Dentistry. I have been a patient for many years and always feel very welcomed and extremely well taken care of. Dr. Doug and his Team take the time to not only be your great Dentist but he also genuinely cares about you, your family, our community, children with special needs, people that are struggling, and in my case United States Military Veterans. When I came back on combat leave from Afghanistan I had an emergency and was treated immediately. No questions asked Dr. Doug made the time for me. In fact, for several years now Dr. Doug, his wife Amy, and the entire Staff donate their time on Veterans Day to Veterans in need of dental care. I know several Veterans who were in dire need of dental care and I referred them for this wonderful opportunity. Each was helped and received the same VIP treatment that every patient receives. However, these Veterans were also given a whole lot of gratitude and an experience that many had never received. I can go on and on about the entire Team but Dr. Doug should write a book on leadership and management. It would be an instant best seller. He treats everyone including his Staff so well and they would follow him anywhere.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Doug and his team (ALL OF THEM) are the best! Great service, friendly, accommodating staff. From the moment you walk into the door until the moment you leave, everyone is very welcoming and very good at their job. I have been coming here for years and never once have I felt I was told I need something I didn't (which I have encountered several other places). Every person here cares about not only your health, but you as a person. And if you're one who doesn't like dentists? They have a whole menu to help make the experience and comfortable and painless as possible! They're just amazing!

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a good dental office and i googled the best office and Pennino came as #1 and I have to say they are definitely #1. The office is so clean, all the staff are amazing and nice and they make you feel welcome. I can finally say i am no longer scared to go to the dentist especially my kids. Amazing office and staff !!!!
