Fantastic experience: Yesterday, 11/10/25, I had an appointment at Port Arthur Smiles to get an extraction. I had put it off for over two (2) years because of my anxiety levels. As PTSD is a thing. So are the levels of anxiety when I visit a Dentist or a Doctor. This day was no different. However, the level of care I received from this group allowed me to have everything done without needing to be sedated. I was awake the whole time and the whole process took within an hour. I was able to drive myself home fully alert. Thank You! PORT ARTHUR SMILES. Dr. B. Burnett, you were wonderful and your Staff is very caring.

I have so much anxiety bringing my two littles anywhere, but they were so good with them I didn’t have the chance to spiral, lol. From the second we walked in the atmosphere was warm and inviting. They were efficient & they practice with the highest of standards. Every question I had was followed by a clear, respectful, & insightful answer from both the doctor and the wonderful staff. What more could you want? You’ll have to witness it for yourself!

Negative experience: 4 years ago, I got 2 crowns, went back they told me that dentist that did my job was no longer there, so far I went 3 times to get my tooth get glued back on.the current dentist said that I will a new crown for it to stop coming off, obviously something is wrong here, not only that, they charged me over $300.00 dollars yesterday to put it back on, ,which before X-rays was $75.00, I told dentist just glue my tooth on and that was the last time I was going back there, seems she thought I had a bad attitude, how can I not when you keep charging me for a job that you should honor!! I'll say this, they may be friendly, but their work is very poor I'll tell Al my friends and family to never go there, they just care about getting money from you, but the job quality is garbage

Fantastic experience: This whole experience was a great one! Our appointment was booked within the same week of calling for the appointment. Everything, paperwork wise, was handled via a text message link. I'm a pretty punctual person, so we got there fairly earlier, and they took all three of us back early. They asked me if we needed doctor's notes for the visit, so there was no worry of my forgetting it. My younger daughter has pretty bad dentist anxiety, so one of the lovelies there cheered her on and gave her affirmations throughout. There are TV in front of the beds to keep patients occupied with Netflix. I had the opportunity to meet both dentists today as each one worked with us to complete our visit. Both were extremely informative, welcoming, and seemed geninunely interested in our conversation and time there. My 19-year-old started coming here as it was close enough for her to be seen during the school day without missing the entire day. After being with the same dentist for 17 years, I didn't want to change, but we had moved out of town. Going to the dentist has never been a comfortable time for any of my children, and I was so pleasantly surprised with our visit today. The ladies at the front are upbeat, super sweet, helpful, and really are the face of this office. Thwy truly MADE the place stand out. Hands down, this is the best experience I have ever had at a dentist's office (if that was even a thing). Finally, the bathrooms were actually clean, and there was plenty of parking. 5 stars for this place and the incredible employees!

Fantastic experience: We LOVE Port Arthur Smiles… the dentists are knowledgeable and listen to every concern you have and make you feel at ease! But those Assistants sooooo GOOD ! I wish I knew how to spell her name, it starts with an S, she took care of my daughter and eased her worries, waited until she was ready, and helped her through every step !! My daughter has a loose tooth in the front (literally hanging) they gave her a set of gloves, gauze, treasure chest, and a certificate for when she pulls it out or if it falls !!! So thank you for your dedication and patience with my baby !

Fantastic experience: I was very impressed with the quality of my crown installed by Port Arthur Smiles. The crown was delivered fast, which hasn’t always been my experience with other dentists. The customer service is outstanding! Front office ladies were so helpful, friendly, and in a timely fashion communicated about the scheduling and payments. They went above and beyond to ensure I was satisfied and made me feel like I was in the care of my family. The doctor and the nurses competently made quick quality work of saving my tooth and installing the crown. They were also considered and compassionate, which put me at ease as I don’t usually enjoy the dental work. Highly recommended!

Positive experience: This was my first time there I love the lady in the front desk but they took a long time to call us in the room when we got there the doctor literally just walked in the rooom in open my baby’s mouth in said oh everything is good like did not even look inside of her mouth just opened it in that was it I really excited more!!! But I hope her next appointment goes better❤️

Negative experience: They told me my appointment would take an hour. After forty minutes past my appointment time they finally took me back. I got X-rays and then they left me in the room without any further information for another half hour. After I flagged someone down I finally got to see the dentist who told me I needed to pay an additional $80 more than I already paid for a deep cleaning. I asked if I could just do the regular because I already paid and already late for work and they told me no so I left. I prepaid for a cleaning and fluoride and afterwards asked if I could get a refund for the fluoride since I never received it. After four emails I still had not heard back.

Fantastic experience: I had a dental emergency and was in a significant amount of pain. We are new to the area and didn’t have a dentist yet. I had called several offices yesterday morning looking for an appt. & Although some had availability this week, they just seemed impatient and not very sympathetic or understanding. When I called Port Arthur Smiles it was very different. I was offered a same day appt and Tyra, the office manager, was kind and patient, I actually thanked her for being so nice to me on the phone! The front desk staff, the dental assistant and the Dentist all treated me with compassion and were very gentle with my tooth. I received a treatment plan as well as much needed antibiotics and will be going back in a couple days without any hesitation or fear. This was hands down one of the best dental offices I’ve visited. They offer just about every service there is, have great financing plans along with fair competitive pricing. I will be a patient for years to come. Stephanie H.

Negative experience: Went in for a regular cleaning, they took $99 for xray, consultation and simple cleaning. They said they won’t give me cleaning instead I need to get a $852 deep cleaning. I told them I didn’t have time for that so just do a regular cleaning for now they said no they can’t do that. Which is so ridiculous. I asked them for a partial refund they said they will credit $40 towards the $852 cleaning. I told them I am not coming to them so they gave me $40 refunded. Which they did. But I just feel that patient should have options to get a cleaning that they can afford. Apart from that the staff was alright.

Fantastic experience: Was passing through for work, needed a quick appointment because I broke a crown flush to the gum, my appointment was for 4pm, I was taken to the room at exactly that hour, had xrays done and got a diagnosis whitin minutes, and was all done in less than 20 minutes, this team is amazing, great Job guys, keep it up, let me not forget all the friendly faces and smiles that came with my visit. Negative experience: Disappointed with this location. I made an appointment online to get my yearly check in. Clearly if someone goes out of their way to make an appointment they will be here. I'm here and they said I did not confirm my appointment by text and that is why they cannot see me at this time. Does it not make sense to give someone a phone call and confirm? If I go out of my way to make an appointment then clearly I will be here at your establishment. If you were going to remove me off your schedule a call would have been a more professional route. I have no text message asking for confirmation and I work 16 to 18 hours a day at a job site in a remote area with limited service maybe that could have been the disconnect. I don't understand but I left my job site thinking I had an appointment and nothing. If I see missed call then I would have returned your call. Have a blessed day.

Fantastic experience: I called because I had a broken tooth and i expressed my extreme dental anxiety before going in “ and when I say extreme I haven’t been to a dentist in 19 years” they treated me so nice they were all so kind and understanding, it was a really good experience. I would recommend a million times over and even have a plan to go back and finish the dental plan they made for me.

Negative experience: I came in for a cleaning. I was called into a room as if it was my turn. I have insurance so xrays were taken. I waited a very long time after that until someone finally came and told me that the office was short staffed and they didn't want me to wait any longer it would be best to reschedule. I prepaid my portion and rescheduled. After I thought about how I was treated I decided to get a refund and go to another dental office but the office manager Deborah, made it very difficult for me to get a refund and would not release the x-rays to me so I could take to the other office. I had to make two additional visits to the office before I was finally refunded.

Fantastic experience: I just want to publicly rave on Port Arthur Smiles. This company and staff are the most amazing group of individuals I have ever met. My child came in with pain and left in no pain. The Dr was able to complete her treatment in such a caring and kind way that I want everyone to come check them out.

Fantastic experience: i had to have my wisdom tooth surgically removed this morning. As i am pregnant, i wasn’t able to be sedated like normal, so it’s safe to say i was pretty scared. But, Dr. Bob was amazing! he walked me through every step and eased my anxiety. i will definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: I was so scared to get my tooth pulled today. Dr. Bob made me feel so comfortable. He talked me through everything. He even left his phone in the room for me playing music to help me get my mind off of the extraction. He even came in on his birthday. Everyone there is so nice. All the nurses and dentists. My family and I will definitely be using this office for now on.

We love Port Arthur Smiles!! Update to add: (March 2025) my daughter is now 6 and we still love Port Arthur Smiles. My daughter had a bit of a rough time today (being scared) and everyone was so patient and encouraging! Kylah was beyond helpful. We can’t thank her enough!

Negative experience: Never got to have the entire experience but scheduled about a month in advance, drove the 40 mile round trip off work to be told they went out of network with my insurance since scheduling. Coulda called. And if your customer service lacks atleast that curiosity I cringe to think what else could fall through the cracks billing wise and leave me in a debt to the provider. Thankfully the insurance I use is the company i work for & knew the questions to ask. Not everyone does. Even though they still list themselves on the insurances site as in i’d still be stuck with it.

Negative experience: Make sure the doctor you're seeing is actually in your network !!! My husband had a bad experience, unfortunately. The place had come recommended as we have a friend who used them for their daughter . I looked to make sure it was in our insurance network, and it said it was on our insurance website. Port Arthur Smiles ,with a certain doctor's name. I mention this because I just recently discovered they billed us under a different doctor's name than was listed on my insurance website. Which resorted in us being out of network. I think that's extremely shady and just tops off this whole bad situation. My husband went in with a certain tooth, giving him trouble and in pain. They kept him there for 4 hours ! Because the dentist would do a little bit of work , then run to another room to work on someone else. The worst part of all was they gave him a price for the work. Yet when he went to pay, it was twice what they had quoted him. Apparently ,they had done a more extensive cleaning than they previously told him they were doing. My husband just wanted his painful tooth taken care of, and he got taken advantage of. We were going to just let it go and find a new dentist. But I realized about the billing situation today and chose to write a review to share our experience . So others could at least be aware. Again, make sure the doctor you are seeing is actually in your network!!

Negative experience: Ridiculous!!!!! When I got there everything was misconstrued. They called me 2 weeks ago to verify my appointment. But when I got there they said they didn't have my appointment scheduled. I had to leave work early and this was very unprofessional. They use to be amazing I don't know what done happened

I admit a lot of names escape me at the moment as I'm still tired from the appointment and having to deal with another late night shift, but everyone I encountered during my appointment are professional, polite, and careful in the hour I was there.

I have no insurance so She gave me a discount so I can get the work done that I needed. They also offer plans to pay off. I take all my kids and recommend any ages to go there.

Negative experience: Unprofessional. I originally booked a cleaning a month in advance, only to receive a call 48 hours before that a dentist and hygienist would not be available to accommodate me. I rescheduled the appointment for the following Monday and also let them know I had a crown that had recently came loose. When I was in the back before they cemented my crown I asked the dentist would I still be able to receive my cleaning, she replied, “yes”. After waiting a few minutes I was instructed to go to the counter and schedule another appointment. The only reason I took off of work and booked my appointment was for a cleaning. There was only one hygienist onsite and there were 3 other people waiting for cleanings at 4:00 pm, the business closes at 5:00pm. This is unacceptable and I will not be returning to this office.
