Fantastic experience: Another great visit! I have a complicated anatomy and the entire team here is patient, caring, and kind. They’re also extremely good at what they do. Four years ago I was callously told by another dentist I would have to have four teeth removed as they were “goners” - his exact words. I switched providers when I found this office and they’ve been able to save my teeth through a customized care plan. Highly recommend this team!

Fantastic experience: 10/28 Update: After my initial review, I received a call from the staff, and it was clear that they truly care about their patients. I returned for a second consultation, this time with Dr. Joseph, and we had an in-depth discussion about my options. We covered everything from the procedure itself to my retainer. Rather than tossing out my current retainer, he offered to reshape it to fit my new tooth! He took the time to explain his approach thoroughly and showed genuine respect for my goals. Anyone who’s dealt with a chipped tooth can probably understand the relief I felt when he provided a path to a natural-looking smile. Dr. Joseph’s empathy and expertise really stood out. He described his technique, and it was exactly what I hoped to hear. I left feeling optimistic and thrilled to have found a dentist I can trust for life. Normally, I’m not a fan of dental visits, and I work hard to keep my teeth in good shape. But for the first time, I’m actually looking forward to this procedure! I’ll update once it’s done, but I wanted to share this now to ensure my review reflects my experience so far. I also want to mention how wonderful the staff is! They are incredibly personable, considerate, and genuinely seem to enjoy working there. It’s such a refreshing change from other offices I’ve been to, where staff can sometimes be snippy or seemed unhappy with their work. Here, everyone is just so friendly. One of the assistants even took the time to stop by and say hello personally! They earned all the 5 stars ratings. 10/23 To clarify my 1-star rating, it’s solely for the dentist—not the supporting staff, who definitely deserve 5 stars. My chipped tooth was salvageable, as I’d saved the chipped piece, which could have been reattached. However, the dentist declined, claiming there was no literature supporting that option, despite there actually being research on it. I suspect he may have limited experience (possibly less than five years), and I would have appreciated if he’d sought a second opinion. Though he was polite and our conversation was cordial, I asked multiple times about using the original chip. Instead, he patched it up in a way that looks unnatural—like a flat cutting board rather than a natural, beveled tooth. I feel that my chance to repair the tooth naturally was dismissed, and the end result isn’t ideal. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this office for specialized dental work.

Fantastic experience: I had Invisalign over 10 years ago, but life got busy and I stopped wearing my retainers. When I noticed my teeth starting to shift, I went to Dr. Cho for a consultation. He recommended a short-term corrective treatment that not only restored my alignment and smile but actually elevated the overall look beyond what I expected. What impressed me most was Dr. Cho’s commitment to achieving true perfection. He saw potential I couldn’t see at first. I was ready to settle, but he wasn’t. Thanks to his precision and patience, my teeth now look better than I could have imagined. The entire process was smooth and efficient. The staff communicates clearly, appointments run seamlessly, and everything feels organized and intentional like they have their system down to a science. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I was lucky enough to “inherit” Dr. Khalil from a previous Dentist and I have been happy to go to the Dentist for 20+ years! I broke a tooth over the weekend and Dr. Khalil called me and worked me into his busy schedule! And he really is a PAINLESS Dentist! I was there for an hour + and NO PAIN! Fantastic experience: I am sensitive to pain, so when Dr Khalil Injected the Novocaine and asked if it was painful, I realized that he was done and that I have not felt it, he is that good. He takes the time to ask about the family and friends. It is not everyday you come across a dentist who truly cares for his patients. The receptionist, the accountant and all the staff are just wonderful and helpful plus they use the latest technology. Thank you so much!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming here for my dental cleaning for a few years, and have had a great experience each time. I am always greeted with a warm welcome by the front desk whenever I visit. Danny, my usual dental hygienist, is very kind, informative, quick and efficient. He’s great at making conversation and making you feel comfortable, even during times that he has to put some elbow grease in (at my own doing, make sure to floss as often as possible!) Dr. Khalil always comes around for a final check, which always goes smoothly. He is friendly and gives a careful outline of your overall dental health, and a roadmap for any services needed in the future. I can’t see myself going anywhere else for my dental needs, and can while heartedly recommend Arlington Dentistry by Design!

They told me in typical fashion that I grind my teeth but to my surprise my dentist just recommended buying off a shelf mouth guard rather than an expensive one. The office staff was friendly both on the phone and when I arrived at the office. The office was clean and inviting. Dr. Cho was great and made me feel very comfortable. Fantastic experience: Everything about this practice is excellent!. Dr. Cho is an excellent Dentist (I speak from experience, as my aunt is also a Dentist w/30+ years of experience). Dental Hygienist Brinton is fantastic! (I didn't feel any pain because she was very careful, Brinton was very thorough, she answered all my questions, gave great advice, & Brinton is very funny). In general, all their Dental Hygienists are great & are very careful to make things pain-free. The front desk staff are really patient, professional, & helpful. I highly recommend Dentistry by Design.

Fantastic experience: The Dentist was straight forward and driven by logic. Many just want to get you into their revenue stream but they do the complete opposite. I thought I needed a crown and he said it wasn’t necessary. That level of honesty is rarely seen and I highly recommend this place! If I ever have a broken leg, I’m going to Dr. Cho!!!

First of all, the front‐office staff is superb and professional. They answered all my questions about insurance, etc., and scheduling was easy. I had my appointment with Dr. Cho as my dentist and Dani as my hygienist, and they were both absolutely excellent. Dani provided a really thorough cleaning and put me at ease from the start! I'm glad I found my new dental practice!

Fantastic experience: I first found this dental practice about four years ago while searching for cosmetic dentistry—and I’m so glad I did! What started as a one-time visit has turned into my go-to dental office. I now drive from Woodbridge to Arlington for every appointment because they’re just that good. My husband is a patient here now too. The staff is incredibly friendly (Hi Caitlin,Dani, and Joyce!) and there are so many kind, familiar faces that make every visit a pleasant one. The office is clean, modern, and welcoming. Dr. Cho has even helped me through dental emergencies—I’ve told him he literally gave me my smile back. I honestly can’t say enough good things. If you’re on the fence, just book the appointment. You won’t regret it.

I spoke with Tipp, who instantly calmed me down, reassured me, and was kind enough to squeeze me in the same day. Dr. Khalil was thorough and clear in explaining my next steps. No judgment or scolding for my lazy dental care the last six months :( Instead, she offered tips to make it easier and consistent until next time. The office is nice and modern. My cleaning was probably the most thorough I’ve had in a VERY long time thanks to tech Danny who was excellent. Dr Chu was also really nice and although I didn’t have major issues to discuss at this appointment I feel I’m going to be in good hands for all my dental care needs. Definitely reccomend!

The atmosphere was clean and pleasant, and there was no "dentist office" smell. Dr. Khalil was generous with his time and impressed me as being reasonable, thorough and pragmatic. I think I've discovered an independent business with values I resonate to.

Fantastic experience: Not once, but twice did Arlington Dentistry by Design save the day. I live 600 miles from here and have been in the DC area for an extended stay. Three weeks ago and late on a Friday morning, an overlay on a back molar popped off. Not quite an emergency but with a weekend ahead, not something I wanted to see wait three days. I called a friend who recommended Dr. Cho without reservation. The incredible staff found a way to get me in early in the afternoon and I walked out 30 minutes later. My own dentist back in Atlanta retired recently and I have been needing a new dentist for some all too long length of time. The staff at Dentistry by Design helped me arrange my insurance and I was back doing a thorough (and I do mean thorough!) examination three weeks later. A cleaning was arranged 24 hours after that - and it was the first time in my life that i did not cringe even once. Rave reviews for the Dentistry by Design team - from the reception desk to the staff and right on through to Dr. Cho. These folks are so good that I will fly back up to Arlington twice a year because these folks are truly THAT outstanding.

Negative experience: I think the dentistry work is above average and quality work. Their bedside manner leaves something to be desired- I asked if the doctor could offer me a small discount as I had just lost my job. The answer was no and the dental staff was more than slightly irritated that I even asked. I paid the $2,600 and left. Happy to take your money but don’t expect anything else- not even- sorry to hear about your situation. Zilch! Nothing but eyes to rolled!
