Negative experience: Honestly it started with the fact that their front desk girl didn’t properly verify insurance and turns out they are not in network with my Cigna insurance. Then the same front desk girl tells me about Cherry that lets you break your payments up monthly interest free. Except it’s not interest free it’s 35% interest and after the same girl uses her pressure sales to push me into getting work don’t that day when I told her I just wanted to get the cleaning and then plan for the other services but she sold me on the cherry that low and behold wasn’t what she said. They call me as I’m pulling in to get my crown replaced they received payment from insurance 3 days prior but call me 10/31 to say I owe over $700 before I can get my permanent crown. Then the same front desk girl after I call asking for my break down of my bill she said give her a few minutes and of coarse days later I have to call and they said she shouldn’t have said that it takes them a day or 2 to send them out. It’s very disappointing and dissatisfied. The only reason I’m going back is to get my permanent crown from them. So they get you in by saying on insurance will pay this without properly verifying because they take out of network clients too. And then when insurance doesn’t cover what the dentist says they will they try and hook you into some credit situation to make monthly payments at high interest.

Fantastic experience: Mēgan did an amazing job cleaning my daughter’s teeth for the first time! She was so incredible at making sure she was completely comfortable and explained every step perfectly for a child’s understanding

Then completed deep cleaning during initial appointment. Would definitely recommend family and friends to go to Henson Family Dental!

I might butcher my favorite people’s names there, but I want to give a shoutout to Meghan and Kiara for always being professional and kind. They were also incredibly encouraging and empathetic about my personal life situations. I’m grateful to have had Dr. Ayala as well; she was just as professional and sweet when I walked into the dental office. Thank you! P.S,. The dental hygienists here are also exceptional. I have never experienced any discomfort or pain during my dental procedures.

The office is so clean, staff was so kind and helpful, the treating staff was also so detailed and made sure I was comfortable at every step. I left today feeling so happy and confident and I am so grateful! Happy to report I'm looking forward to my next dentist appointment!

Negative experience: I prepaid over $2800. Then they said they would deny me the treatment I need until I went in for a full medical checkup. Not easy if you don't have insurance. I finally managed this and went back in. Guess what the $2800 was only for the x-rays and a cleaning. Feeling ripped off and discouraged today.

Negative experience: I went here 2 years ago for a regular appointment. They did an X-ray and came back and Dr. Gonzalez told me basically all of my teeth had cavities and that I needed 3 root canals. I was shocked because I had no pain and had been seen a year prior by another dentist and was told my teeth looked fine. I was told if I didn't change my habits "my teeth would rot out of my head." I don't drink alcohol, tea, coffee, brush 2x a day, and regularly floss. I drink a few sodas a week. I was handed an estimate for $5,000 worth our work. When I shared I don't have the kind of money to do all that work at once and asked what can we start with I was told I'd have to prioritize what work I want done first and figure it out myself. I left my appointment in tears embarrassed by the condition they said my teeth were in, terrified of all the work I needed done, and stressed by the way the Dr. spoke to me. I got a second opinion. I needed 2 fillings, no root canals. 2 years later I feel great. If you get a quote from this place that you need an insane amount of work done, get a second opinion. 2 years later and I'm still so mad at the experience I had at this place. There are much better options out there.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Henson Family Dental today. I went in for an exam and x-rays, and I’ll be returning next week for a root canal and three fillings. From the moment I walked in, the staff and Teresa at the front desk were friendly and welcoming. Dr. G is who I interacted with and he was knowledgeable and took the time to explain each step of the process. The team all together worked professionally and made sure I felt comfortable throughout my visit. What stood out most was that the owner of the practice Dr. Henson personally spoke with each patient in the office, which made the experience feel personal and genuine. I left confident in the care I’m receiving and look forward to my upcoming procedures. Also you can talk about your favorite anime with Meg and Kiara.

Negative experience: Hello so I’m almost 60 years old and do not do this much but I felt the need to post what I’m told is a not fake review so here goes I’m a veteran and came to this dentist for thousands of dollars of work needed on my teeth. Yes the people there are friendly but not professional at all. The dentist came in did an so called exam on me never she never said a word to me to this day what she was going to do w all my missing teeth. When they scheduled my next appointment as I was walking out I had to ask what they were going to do to me at that point I asked what can I speak to the dentist which they said she was busy and she would call me to explain what the treatment plan would be this never happened so if you are looking for a dentist that makes you feel comfortable and professional about what they’re going to do to your teeth this is not them. I hope this helps some other people because I know I wish I would’ve read something like this. Before I decided to come hereThank you and God bless

Fantastic experience: Amazing facility. My wife has ptsd and the staff is very trauma informed. Super patient. We came in on an emergency and they still made time for us. Took the time to interact and talk about everyday life that really helped to calm her and made a terrible day into a pleasant experience. We found our new forever dentist. They even have roku with all the anime, so wife really enjoyed that.

Fantastic experience: I had a pretty great experience at this practice today. I had an emergency dental situation and was able to be seen within 30 minutes of my initial phone call this morning. The staff was super nice and very knowledgeable. I have a lot of anxiety surrounding dental procedures and this one was no different. I was nervous about not having any anesthesia besides the numbing agents and also not being given a script for pain medication other than motrin. The dentist was able to slow down when I needed and I made it through the procedure. I appreciate the staff taking the time to make me feel comfortable (and laugh!) and even show me how to use the goodrx app. Overall wonderful experience, I would recommend them to anyone needing dental work in Temple Terrace!

Also have been very accommodating in terms of payment as well. Please don’t hesitate to take care of your dental hygiene/health, they’ll figure something out for you. Also…my teeth/gums don’t hurt anymore!!!! No longer in danger of gingivitis. My jaw can FINALLY rest easy and I can’t wait to see them next year (and all the years) for my cleaning. :)

Negative experience: This is based on my experience several years ago but it still bothers me so I must share. I was adamantly told that I needed a root canal and crown. I’ve had one cavity/ filling ever in my 33 years of life so this came as a shock to me. She even tried to show me on an X-ray where my tooth was supposedly rotted, however I am not trained in reviewing X-rays so there’s no way for me to trust what she said. I was very upset. The severity of a root canal and crown is no joke to me. Once they take out that tooth and grind it down, you are never getting that tooth back and you have to deal with the maintenance for life. So, I chose to go back to my childhood dentist in St Pete (Jeff Scott Dentistry) which I had stopped going to out of the inconvenience of driving that far. Dr Scott told me that all I needed was the filling replaced as this was a filling I got as a teenager and they need replacing every ten years. Well, guess what? That was several years ago and I’ve had no problems. Basically, do not tell people they need to remove their teeth if it is not necessary to do so. I am so happy I didn’t go through with removing MY tooth and just drove the 45 minutes to St Pete to have a second opinion.

Teresa made sure all my information was correct and helped me along the way and make sure my visit was good at the end. Yisell and Dr Ayala work very well together and we're patient and very informative and good with their hands. Amy gave me a cleaning like no other! She was very informative answering every question I had. I could not have been more comfortable. Dr Henson even came and graced me with her presence! She made sure I was ok. Which there was no need she has a lovely staff.! She was also the one that made my appointment initially over the phone!!! If I didn't have no appointment coming up I would just go back and speak! This office is the bomb hands down!!!!

Fantastic experience: I am so glad I found Henson Family Dental. I’ve had poor experiences in past with other dentists and was apprehensive going to a new provider. But they really go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and informed. The front desk staff is welcoming and very kind, Teresa helped me today when I was running a bit behind due to an emergency and helped get me fit in with no hesitation. The rest of the staff is also so sweet, always big smiles and warm welcomes when I come in. They are informative, helpful and not pushy when talking over choices or decisions to make and I love that they are very honest about what things HAVE to be done for my health vs if a treatment can wait or how long if I need to move things around for finances. They have turned around my past negative experiences despite those not being related to them. And my teeth are much healthier!
