Aiken Family Dentistry

Negative experience: Made appointment as new patient, was scheduled for day before Thanksgiving weeks in advance. Showed up and no one there. Left message for return call, never called the following business day on Monday. Tried calling them, never answered the phone multiple times. Finally returned call, no apology or any word about me showing up with no one there. When asked to cancel other family member’s appointments, said she needed the dates scheduled, since I was at work had to wait to get home(who can’t pull up appointment with name and DOB??). Tried to call again…no answer. Finally sent email with photo of all appointments, including the one they made with me and were closed. Requesting confirmation because I saw very low Yelp ratings and reviews of being charged for services not rendered.

Fantastic experience: I enjoyed the customer service received. The dentist very nice and explains service needed and answered all questions.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Aiken Family Dentistry for the past 10 years. The dental hygienists are very sweet and professional. They get you taken care of quickly and Dr. Patel is attentive to any issues or questions that you have. Definitely recommend.

Negative experience: The doctor was berating his assistant the whole appointment. It was so uncomfortable, and I was getting a crown done. I paid for my daughter's procedure the same day I paid for mine. When it was time for her procedure, they stated that I owed another $165. I told them I paid and they insisted I owed. When they finally looked into the system, they saw that I had paid everything and owed nothing. If I had paid without questioning them, they would have probably made it hard for me to get my money back or even tell me there had been a mistake with the billing. No apology was given. I will never go back to this place.

Negative experience: Do not give them your money. I had to pay $90 to secure an appointment. I was told if I cancel the appointment I would receive a refund. I have yet to receive this refund after cancelling and multiple calls to this office. As of today it has been almost 2 months with no refund!

Fantastic experience: This was an excellent experience! I had not had a cavity in YEARS, and I’m glad that Dr. Patel repaired it. He was efficient and professional. I was particularly impressed by the finely tuned teamwork between Dr. Patel and his nurse. All in all, five stars!

She was so understanding and just showed me the best kindness that I hope all medical professionals give their patients. Thank you for eliminating my fears of the dentist. Fantastic experience: Overall happy with dental care from this practice. All the hygienists have always been kind and considerate. Angela cleaned my teeth today and was wonderful to work with. Wait for appointments has been reasonable/minimal. Previously had some issues with front desk staff related to scheduling, but have not had any recent issues with current staff. Dentist is thorough, presents options, but does not push unnecessary services.

She was very understanding of my concerns and Dr. Ayati was so gentle too. I for the first time in a long feel like I'm in good hands.

Negative experience: I had my first dental appointment in three years today and, like many patients, I was nervous. The hygienist was warm, wonderful and made me feel comfortable. She answered all of my questions with patience and helped ease my nerves. Unfortunately, my experience changed dramatically once Dr. Patel came in. His approach was judgmental, dismissive, and unprofessional. I was made to feel inadequate simply because I did not know the difference between certain types of x-rays. I had already taken the time to confirm everything with my insurance company before this appointment, but even if there was miscommunication, there is no reason for a patient to be spoken to with such negativity. What was most telling is that another employee felt the need to apologize to me afterward. That alone speaks volumes. As a result, I canceled the appointments I had scheduled for my children later in the day because I would not subject them to that type of treatment. It is disheartening to have such an experience, especially after working up the courage to return to dental care following previous negative experiences. While the hygienist was excellent, I cannot in good conscience recommend this practice under Dr. Patel’s care. I will be seeking a new dental office in the area.

She noticed I was kinda nervous, even though I tried to hide it, but she did an excellent job with putting me at ease. And the dentist, he was excellent as well. Made me feel comfortable, explained everything to me in detail about my situation and assured me that they would take care of me. I left there without feeling overwhelmed and that means a lot to me. Fantastic experience: Dr. Patel is hands down the best dentist I've ever been to. I'm in the process of fixing my teeth alignment with braces and had a tooth that wasn't going to be able to stay due to lack of room. Went in to have it extracted and it was a smooth process. Of all my years in the military, I have never had novocaine administered so well. Normally it takes up to 4 shots before it does its magic, not with Dr. Patel! And to top it off, it was barely a pinch when injected. Never have I had such a great experience. Love the office staff and love Dr. Patel!

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff, quality work, fair prices. All staff has been great during my multiple visits for cleanings as well as dental repair. Angela was extremely detailed and thorough when I had my teeth cleaned today. Dr. Patel did a great job every time and I had multiple teeth repaired. He is fast, efficient, and direct. Even the staff at the front desk are quick to respond, always follow up before an appointment, always friendly, and are always willing to answer any questions I have. By far the best experience I’ve ever had with any dentistry.

Negative experience: Scheduling and front desk is extremely unorganized, they will call and text about appointments that may or may not be yours. Updates, changes or billing, make sure you get everything in writing. Dr Patel is fine, good at making patients feel like another number or a dollar sign leaving. Could not recommend this practice less.

Negative experience: We have been using this practice for 8 years. Today, they informed us that we must pay $65 to make an appointment for work other than cleaning. And for today’s cleaning appointment, they wanted to charge us $107 even though we have dental insurance that covers it completely. They had never charged us before, and they know that our insurance covers the cleaning.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Aiken Family Dentistry for the last several years and continue to have great service. My annual cleanings are a breeze thanks to the attentive staff and I’m never kept waiting. This office also fought with my insurance company on my behalf to ensure my mouth guard was covered and I didn’t have to pay out of pocket. This has made a huge positive impact in my health as I’m no longer struggling with broken teeth from grinding and have fewer headaches from clenching my jaw. This is an office that truly cares about their patients.

Negative experience: 0 stars. Made appointments for specific urgent needs and full exams for my children. The lady gave the appointment times and the day of I received a text saying differnt times. I was told if insurance didn't cover then we would have to pay yet we had to pay up front anyway which made no sense. They didnt do full exams on either kids. The dentist was unprofessional and said spacing between teeth is cavities. Where did you get your degree? We ended up requesting refunds and filing fraud with insurance for all charges. We will not be back for NO reason emergency or not! God Bless this office and I pray for all patients seen here.

Negative experience: Just had a laughably terrible experience at this practice. Receptionist is incurably nasty and completely misrepresented what they'd be be able to do for me. She got me to make an appt. Under the false auspices of taking care of my filling. Then after I paid the "emergency visit" fee proceeded to do a basic new patient consultation, send me on my way only to tell me that the NEXR available filling appointment is in January. This is incredibly poor communication. You don't tell emergency patients that you can get them in for treatment when you know that no treatment is available. The doctor here is clearly more concerned with selling orthodontic apparatus and $$ than the patient experience. Classic shady behavior. Avoid this practice!

Positive experience: The staff was really nice, I was a little disappointed at first because I thought that a was receiving a temp crown today, but was told not to worry all things will be taken care of. This was my first visit. If all things go well than this will be my new dentist home

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming here since I moved to Aiken. The hygienists are always super nice and I usually only ever get cleanings here and exams to make sure I don’t have any issues I need to be aware of. Dr Patel had always been good to me so I’ll keep returning! The facilities are clean and relatively modern for a small dentist office. The location is quiet and aware from any large traffic so it’s almost peaceful being around here.

Negative experience: This place just tries to upsale you on absolutely everything they can. I went in there for a free insurance covered cleaning, they tried to upsale me to the next, got annoyed, didn't clean my teeth, charged me for the day as a check up, and sent me home with options for root canal, crowns, etc. I went in for a free insurance cleaning. Keep that in mind.
