Dr. Nelson and staff are extremely helpful, friendly, skilled, and professional. The dental work & care that I received was excellent! My only regret is that I didn't switch over to Nelson Family Dentistry years ago! Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: For me, as with many other people, the dentist is not a favorite place to go. I was greeted with a smile and welcomed. Appointment was timely and everyone from the assistant and hygienist to Dr John (he said to just call him John) was great. All of the equipment seemed to be new and state of the art. There is a reason in the waiting room there was 15 plus years of “BEST OF CHICO” plaques on the wall.

Fantastic experience: I had an unusual experience with a dentist who wanted to pull ALL my teeth and make me wear full dentures. I went to Dr. John for a second opinion. Boy am I glad I did!!! He told me I only needed 2 teeth pulled, 1 root canal, 4 cavities filled and regular cleanings. We review my treatment plan each time I visit. We talk about solutions for any issues I may have. He doesn't tell me what I have to do. He let's me choose which options to go forward with. All of his staff are exceptional people!

Fantastic experience: This was my first time at this dentist office, so I was more than a little bit nervous. That phased out fairly quickly. Everyone I interacted with was extremely friendly. They took the time to explain what they were doing and why. As well as made the effort to keep me informed of my options. It was a great atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: I've had over a decade of excellent care from both Dr. Nelsens which has all been cleaning, x-rays, and exams until recently. Dr. John just did some work. He counseled me with the options for anesthetic or going without (reserving the option for injection if I had pain). I went without and never experienced any pain. All went very smooth. He revised a decades-old incisor repair whose composite was badly stained and very visible. My wife now can't tell which tooth used to have the issue! I can't recommend them highly enough.

So, I was nervous when I first went to the Nelsen’s. But from the get it has been such an amazing experience. John and Missy made me feel so comfortable in the dentists chair and Briar is an amazing hygienist. She is so gentle and her presence is calming—both important for a nervous patient.

I had a crown and several repairs needed. Even had a little 'cat nap'. To top it off, Dr. John called me that night to make sure everything was O.K. What a great dentist!

Very professional; very kind and thoughtful to making sure I was comfortable. And Doctor John is a skilled perfectionist, and a very personable and kind individual. Both my wife and I have been patients Dr. John's for several years, and we feel very safe and confident with this great team and excellent dentist.

Fantastic experience: I recently cracked a tooth and called to see when I could get in. Dr John and his team were able to work me in the same day, quickly diagnosed the issue via x-ray, and was able to offer me a repair choice that excluded numbing agent to solve my problem. I walked out in less than a hour with a tooth as good as new and none of the usual accompanying numbness and drooling. Best dentist visit EVER!

My technician Bridgett; was very kind, gentle and walked me through everything she was doing. Dr James was my dentist, great first impression and overall experience. He was very gentle, checked on me and walked me through what he was doing. He was honest with treatment and recommendations. I couldn’t ask for a better experience. Had an appt 2 weeks later for a cleaning and filler replaced. The both Dr James and the hygienist Michelle, did an AMAZING job! Was not painful. Both checked on me while doing procedures and my teeth already look and feel so much better!

Fantastic experience: I went to Nelsen Dentistry for a second opinion on dental work needed and Dr John did not disappoint! He’s was very friendly, welcoming and upbeat, I could tell he loves his job and staff. To top it off, he even called me the same evening to check in, I don’t think I have ever had a dentist do that. His dental assistant Lindsay told me step by step what’s happening, I could tell I was in good hands. First time, in a long time, that I left a dental office happy about dental work. Full transparency….I can admit that I do not have the best dental hygiene but my goal moving forward is to fix that and get to a better/healthier place. When I tell you I was FLOOORED by the care, empathy, professionalism, and overall aura of EVERY single person in this office!!! Mel & Jamie were working the front desk during my first visit, and they would make you think that you can pay people to care. Mel had such an incredibly welcoming smile and demeanor and Jamie matched her every step of the way. If I could work with these ladies, it would be AN HONOR!!! I was also helped by Jesica (yes ONE S ) and another wonderful gal (I’m so sorry I can’t recall her name —-I was really nervous, and both eased my nerves by the time I was ready for Dr. Missy. Missy was BEYOND understanding and didn’t make me feel guilty for my current state. She was reassuring and both her and Jesica said they were proud of me for taking the first step to get to a better place. If ANYONE is TERRIFIED of going to a dentist, PLEASE JOIN THIS OFFICE! I was able to ask questions, get educated, and was NOT EVER made to feel like a POS. And honestly, I thought the outcome of the visit was going to be WAY WORSE! I learned that YES, there are some things I need to work on and I have the beginnings of something not fun, BUT ALSO, I could’ve easily received MUCH worse news…..if you’re still reading this, I hope you are smiling by now and ready to book that appointment! TRUST MEEEE, you will NOT regret it. This office will support you and put a smile on your face no matter how bad you thought yours was before opening their door! Fantastic experience: I had my first appointment here yesterday and one today and it was the best experience I’ve had at a dentistry. Mind you, I had to get a tooth extracted due to neglecting it for too long. (That’s on me). Nonetheless, I have to say I was very comfortable and felt very safe. They offered me a blanket, glasses for the bright lights, and even a snack. I didn’t feel a thing and it went by very fast. The best part about this place is definitely the staff though. They’re so kind and caring. So, for someone like me who has social anxiety, you feel like everyone is a friend here. This place is a walk in the park for dental work.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been looking for a good Dentist, since I moved back from Ashland it takes time and energy to find one that you feel you have confidence in, and I can truly say that the Nelson group is the Dentist I was looking for, very pleasant upbeats staff, high-tech facilities. Dr Nelson takes the time to understand your needs and answer your questions in a very pleasant understanding way. With a dash of humour. It does take time to get an appointment which makes sense due to their popularity, but once you’re in it’s like a special club. And……I usually don’t take time to write reviews, but I felt the Nelson group deserved a good review.
