Ideal Dental South Arlington

Fantastic experience: I went last week to get X-rays and a preliminary plan about what to do going forward. I had a basic cleaning, gum irrigation, and a root canal which was desperately needed. I was nervous because at the last dentist I went to I'd had a very bad experience with the root canal and it was very painful. But my dentist was Sangeetha Karunakaran and she was quick and efficient, complete and thorough, and it was done in less than an hour. And I have not had to take any pain meds since that. The only pain I've had is a little soreness in my jaw and that's from having to hold my mouth open for so long. It was an incredibly relieving experience to counter what I have experienced before with other dentists. I highly recommend this place. I have to go back for a permanent crown and several other things and I'm not afraid to go because of this experience. I'm so grateful!

Negative experience: I went there to get a full set of dentures. It required multiple appointments. I came back to get my final fitting before they are permanently made and they're missing. They have no idea where my set of molds are. No clue!

Fantastic experience: DIAMOND was considerate, patient and professional in helping fix a problem that I had from my previous Ideal Dental visit. It was my first time having Diamond so I was grateful. Diamond fixed the temporary crown I had since it appeared the previous team cut the side of my tongue with the dental tools and the temporary crown was also sharp so it worsened the cut on my tongue

Fantastic experience: Dr Ali got me in the same day, I thought I had broken my tooth. It was actually the temporary crown. But while I was there, she was able to fix it all with the new crown in less than thirty minutes, and it feels great! Special, thanks to Lupita, who was there to help make everything happen quick and efficiently, and got me taken care of while I was in the chair. No pain. No drama. No stress. Up front pricing. They made something that could have been horrible a quick fix in one day. Definitely 5 star care and service.

Fantastic experience: Ok people, Ideal Dental South Arlington is the very best! Went to get my teeth cleaned by Diana, who is knowledgeable and very kind. I get very nervous at the dentist but they all put me right at ease. The assistants and front staff go out of their way to make sure I understood everything and was comfortable. Both of the Dentists are kind and understanding with chickens like me. Everything is explained in terms everyone can understand. If you are looking for a dentist office to call home, this is it! My family comes to Ideal Dental. Give them a try!

Negative experience: Schedule a cleaning. "Sir, it looks like you have 2000 dollars worth of dental work we need to to and 5 cavities forming that we need to take care of" I call bullshit. Go down the street to another dentist. "Teeth look great. No cavities, floss a tiny bit more." Unethical doesn't even begin to describe it.

Negative experience: I accompanied my wife to her first dental appointment for x-rays and cleaning after her arrival in America from Japan, scheduling it at this location. Despite arriving early, we waited nearly two hours before we were seen, with very little communication from the staff about the delay. After entering the room, we observed used gloves on the floor, dust was present on the equipment, and there was debris on the floor. Ultimately the delays and uncleanness led us to leave before the procedures began. Afterward, I spoke with Jason, the area manager who happened to be visiting that day. Although our overall experience was disappointing, we appreciated that Jason took the time to listen to our concerns and discuss the poor customer service we encountered.

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing and alarming experience with this dental office. I was quoted $2,534 out of pocket just to have my wisdom teeth removed. Thankfully, I decided to get a second opinion. To my shock, the second dentist not only removed all my wisdom teeth, but also did a deep cleaning and four fillings – all for $0 out of pocket under the exact same insurance plan. This tells me everything I need to know about the priorities of this office. In my opinion, they are unethical, predatory, and not looking out for patients' best interests. Please do yourself a favor and get a second opinion before agreeing to anything here. I’m sharing this so no one else has to go through what I did.

Negative experience: Please do yourself a favor and get a second opinion before doing expensive or major dental work here. The people were nice but this place is like an unethical mechanic. I was told I had multiple cavities and needed a root canal. My girlfriend was told she needed 5 fillings. They have a sketchy membership program for people with no insurance. It would've cost around $12,000 for my treatment plan but if I got the membership it would've been around $4,000. They want you to think that you're getting a good deal but it actually costs way less than the $4,000. How can you say you would do the work for $12,000 but also do it for $4,000? Huge discrepancy! The plan and pricing are easily manipulated by their explosion codes which was explained to me when I went to get two different second opinions. When we went to get two more opinions at two different private dentist offices we were told we didn't even have the dental issues that Ideal said we had!!! They were going to cause irreversible damage to our teeth and rob us at the same time! My girlfriend didn't need any work done and I only needed 1 filling! I called them and explained our frustrations and we were given an excuse that each doctor is going to have a different diagnosis and see different things. Red Flag! How can you say someone needs 5 fillings and be completely wrong! Or a root canal and cavities and be completely wrong! Two other dentists said there was nothing wrong! The dentist at Ideal looked fresh out of school so I'm not sure if it's his lack of experience or that they are just money hungry. Most likely both. Ideal dental needs to be investigated and its truly sad that they do this to people. I saw other similar 1 star reviews. Don't trust them with your teeth!

Fantastic experience: Dr Shaw and diamond took very good care of me. Overall the entire staff including front desk is very friendly and helpful I was able to get what I needed done very fast and efficiently. Will definitely be coming back to get more work done as needed.

Negative experience: 0/5. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. They initially assured me that my insurance would cover the procedure, only to inform me weeks later that it actually wasn’t covered. If I had known this beforehand, I would have never gone through with it. On top of that, I got fill-ins for the first time and wasn’t given any aftercare instructions—I had to Google everything myself. I feel completely misled and misinformed. While the area is nice, the professionalism here is severely lacking. If you can look elsewhere. I don’t recommend here

Fantastic experience: My husband and I visited a few days ago for some dental work and a cleaning. We were so pleased to have Nema as our hygienist. She’s kind, polite, and very professional. My husband has some sensitivity, but he didn’t feel any discomfort because she was so gentle. When she showed us his teeth after the cleaning, the results were amazing since he had heavy stains. She’s also funny and made us feel comfortable. We also saw Dr. Merchant, who was awesome as always. Thank you so much!

Positive experience: Based on my previous experiences, the office deserves a 5 star. I only provided a 4 star due to my horrible experience at my last appt few days ago. To start off, I am a patient for the past couple or three years. Dr Merchant was Super nice and that reflects on his staff. The front office ladies are phenomenal and provide superb customer service. There is one African American lady that always stands out (wish I remembered her name), as soon as you walk in, she will greet you and tell you “I have checked you in “with a beautiful smile. In the past I had other Dental hygienist both Men and Women who were friendly, explain the procedure from beginning to end. Diane always goes above and beyond and will explain to you “you might feel this etc”, she is always a pleasure to deal with. My last week appointment was one for the books, the dental hygienist needs sensitivity, customer service and on the job training. I think she is new, I do not recall seeing her in my previous visits. First of all, it was obvious she did not review my file before my appt. She acted surprised at my Dental issue and kept repeating the same thing. She was rude and the manner she was talking to me was unprofessional. She might be related to the owner, that’s why she has the audacity to speak that way. The visit alone deserves a 0 star.

I can in today and the hygienist Nema really took the time out to make sure that, I was very comfortable as they all have been. I have no complaints at all and hopefully it stay like this again they are great! Nema you rock!!!!

Diana was incredibly kind and friendly, you can tell she loves what she does and that she really cares about the patients. She was the highlight of the entire visit. Dr. Shah was incredible as well, he made sure to thoroughly explain my dental plan and how we would be proceeding while explaining my options. Fantastic experience: Had Neema as my hygienist and was quite pleased with her meticulousness, professionalism and kindness. I’ve requested to have her as my permanent hygienist going forward. Also met briefly with Dr Shah and is quite a pleasant fellow as well. As happy as one can be going to the dentist with this practice.

Negative experience: If I could give them less than 1 star, I would! The first appointment was fine (though expensive, even with insurance). Every time after that, I went in for a fairly inexpensive procedure but they ended up wanting to do a much more expensive procedure. I kept getting whatever they recommended until I went in for a cleaning, but they insisted that I needed a deep cleaning and refused to do the actual cleaning that I had scheduled. I canceled any further appointments with them. During two of these incidents, the dental assistant actually laughed and joked with the dentist while I was obviously in pain. (Dr. Merchant was awesome on my first visit, but Dr. O and her assistant were worse than unprofessional!) Months later (almost a year), I got a bill saying that I owed them almost $400! When I called to ask why, they gave me some BS that the insurance rejected it because I had a crown on the same tooth twice in a year. This was the only dentist I'd seen in several years. So rather than trying to understand why the claim had been rejected, they now expect me to cough up the money. I can find no evidence that a claim for a crown was rejected by my insurance company. I am now convinced that these people do not care about the patient but instead are only interested in getting as much money out of the customer as they can. I would drive to Dallas to see a dentist before I returned to this one!

Negative experience: Do not book online received confirmation for an appointment received a confirmed email Called in to check the receptionist was rude told me I wasn't on the schedule despite receiving a confirmed email. Didn't apologize and treated me like a number. Take your business to a dentist that will appreciate you and your emergency dental needs

Negative experience: Terrible, horrible, will make your life a living nightmare because of how disorganized and incompetent they are. Little Shop of Horrors-esque sadists with no empathy towards people who give their last dime to have teeth pulled only to be dragged through the most inconvenient, hair pulling, stressful experiences ever.

Fantastic experience: My experience so far has been absolutely GREAT ! My doctor and her assistant , Dr. O and Tay, were absolutely wonderful. I’m terrified of dentist appointments, haven’t been in yeaaars because of that. But these ladies put all my worries at ease with their experienced hands ! I had a root canal done with absolutely no pain besides a small pinch here and there. Dr. O is very good at numbing the right areas. Super friendly, both Dr. O and Tay, and very thoughtful to even put Vaseline on my lips because they were DRY. I also previously had a deep cleaning done my last appointment and my hygienist was very friendly, soft spoken and gentle, as well as doing a great job on my cleaning. I forgot his name but it was the young male hygienist. I’m so glad I came to this dental office specifically and made it my go to office from now on. If you’re scared of the dentist, I recommend giving them a try because they know how to put you at ease about any pain concerns. Thank y’all so much !

Fantastic experience: Ideal Dental South Arlington is amazing! I always feel comfortable, informed and leave with a brighter smile. My favorite hidden gem would be Leon. He is incredibly sweet, mindful and affirm any concerns you may have. Thank you Leon and the entire Ideal Staff so much for helping me get the perfect smile.

Negative experience: The 5 times my family and I have been here they ran late by at least 45 minutes EVERY TIME. And we had appointments on different days so it’s not like it happened once or twice, it was every time. They broke my son’s permanent retainer when doing his cleaning and then charged us $150 to remove it. They told me I had 2 cavities and that with insurance it was going to be almost $400. Turns out I only had 1 cavity and with the same insurance, only cost me $65 to get it fixed. They schedule you for appointments without telling you and when you miss it they charge you a no show fee for an appointment we didn’t even schedule! My husband and I were both cut by different hygienists on our lips while they were cleaning our teeth. Not once or twice but on every occasion we got our teeth cleaned.

Fantastic experience: 5 Star and here’s why… I came in today with no insurance, Need a tooth pulled and was in agonizing pain. Google search and $39 new patient visit sounded good, so I booked appt online. The Service was Great and The Dentist was so kind and gentle, This is my First and ONLY positive experience with a Dentist. If I had to give one negative it would be the price. But even then they offer payment plans. If you ever need a tooth pulled in emergency go here you’ll thank me. They don’t yank or pull real hard or make you cry. He gave me the needle shot so good I barely felt a thing. In and out 21/2 hours

Literally Sitting in the chair right now and this experienced turned from scary and intimidating to comforting and informative in just a matter of moments with both dr o’s encouraging and calm tone! As well as leon’s and tay’s ability to be delicate when needed but also putting in the elbow grease when needed as well! The experience was phenomenal from the receptionists to the actual cleaning itself! Can’t wait for my upcoming appointment

Fantastic experience: Today was my second visit and I love it! Dr. O, her hygienist Diana, and the front-desk receptionist JJ were all super sweet! I only had a cleaning done both times but both visits were pleasant.

Negative experience: Very unprofessional!! I was looking forward to meet this dentist, the appointment went well, very detailed. Waited over 6 months they still haven’t called. I lost my $2500 benefit because the office failed to call me. Please go to a dentist office that the staff is experienced on insurance. This office does not focus on seniors or care of their benefits. A response of I’m sorry we gain absolutely nothing. Please don’t subject your family to this office.

Negative experience: Do not come here.. or come at your own risk.. I had a temporary crown put on not only was the crown one of the worst experiences I had because apparently the bite was too high, they fix the bite after a week of pain and them saying it still shouldn’t be hurting. I come back after a few weeks and the replacement doesn’t fit my tooth so I was offered to keep it in and have to floss very often or get it replaced. I opted to have it replaced. Came in for my new appointment to a technician sticking God knows what instrument to pull out a temporary crown, once again not offering numbing medicine but about to expose a tooth that has a temporary crown on it. Simply asking patients “do you want to be numbed” before you go digging in their mouth seems like common sense. There are way better ideal dental locations, please save your money and time. This place is far from making sure you’re comfortable

Positive experience: I had a pleasant experience at the dentist today. Everyone was friendly and patient. Kellie, the hygenist, was careful as she cleaned my teeth with cold water since they are very sensitive. Last year, I had to change dentist that I had been with for over 10 years because my job insurance changed but I have had positive experiences since I switched. So far, i am glad i picked this dentist's office. Yes, I recommend you give them a try.

Negative experience: I have been a patient at this place for at least 4 years and witnessed it move downhill overtime. They lack communication across teams between the front desk, schedulers and clinical team. No one knows why patients are being seen and as a result things are not ordered for appointments causing partial treatments to be done or people’s time wasted and having to be rescheduled. I was happy when I was just getting general cleanings and X-rays but I would not recommend coming to this location for any dental work due to the disorganization and lack of proactive communication to patients. The only reason I gave them a 2 was because of my past experience and the staff is generally friendly. My issue with the staff is that they don’t own up to their mistakes and apologize to the patients. Their approach is very much this is situation and how we can fix it and it is what works best for them and the doctors not the patients. Stop wasting people's time and be more sensitive to the fact that it is not easy for people to make time to come in for appointments. Get organized and communicate with each other to ensure patients are taken care of properly the first time versus through multiple bookings.

Fantastic experience: The dental team work together to insure excellent care. They take their time to explain in detail the dental plan for your child. All around outstanding care. I would recommend this location to friends and family.

Fantastic experience: Walked in was greeted by Megan and was immediately seen by Dr. O and she not only gave me a prescription to help with my pain she gave my multiple payment options for the procedures that she would perform. This facility is very clean, the employees are all smiling and I felt welcome from the time I walked in until I left. Oh and it took maybe 5 minutes before seeing the Dr. so no 30-45 minute wait.

Negative experience: My first annoyance was that I waited for over 40 minutes. I arrived to my appointment early to not be rude, but the establishment was running behind. That's understandable so I was going to let that go. After taking x-rays and getting all of my imaging done (which all of the imaging staff was very sweet) I had to speak with a front desk coordinator whom informed me that the Endodontist was not participating in my dental plan. I had already called and verified this information with my insurance and was informed they were participating; however, I filled out all of my online paperwork, I gave them my information when I called the office. There was an adequate amount of time for the front desk workers to inform me that the specialist I was referred to were not participating with my plan in the over 40+ minutes that I was waiting. I arrived for my 11:30 am appointment at 11:22 am. I didn't go back to the back office until 12:10. There was ample amount of time for someone to speak up and not waste my time with unnecessary imaging and further annoyance. I feel like they still wanted to bill my insurance for services even though they knew their Endodontist didn't accept my insurance. I should have been informed in order to make the decision if I wanted to continue to wait for an extended amount of time for essentially no reason at all. This facility charges $50.00 for a no show appointment because they value their staff's time, but could not show me the same courtesy. I am highly disappointed in this establishment and I never leave poor reviews but this should be addressed within the company to perform better time management skills.

Negative experience: This place is a scam. My husband went in for a routine cleaning, they told him he had 11(!) cavities and a bill for $300, after insurance!! They took advantage of him, and the system, performing high tech X-rays, which weren’t covered by our insurance, which he didn’t need! And then they were impossible to get information from over the phone after the fact. Save your money and go somewhere else! We did, and my husband was told “he didn’t have ANY cavities”

Negative experience: Check your claims if you get any root canals or crowns. They tried to over charge me by $328. If I had not called my insurance to question it they would have gladly taken my money. I reached out to them first and they were confident I owed them more than the hundreds I already paid. My insurance company had to explain to them that the charges were not valid. The front desk employees and the dentist are really nice but make sure you check your bills if you trust going to this location.

Negative experience: Avoid this office at all cost!! I’ve been using this location so long, I’ve seen it change from Milestone Dental to Ideal. So for 10 years or more. I’ve watched the service dwindle down slowly over the years. I really hate it, because I’m not one to hop around, but remain loyal and send all of my friends and family to that place of business. But take my word; it would be “Ideal” for you to avoid this place!!

Negative experience: The beginning of my experience went smoothly over time, they have been very careless with orthodontist scheduling. The manager April is a hit or Miss with her attitude and patience, at one point she recommended just going to another dentist as though she didn’t care about my issue. THIS IS NOT A GOOD PLACE. If you would like a friendly & speedy office this is not the place for you. Not to mention they will constantly cancel Appointments.

Fantastic experience: This was the first visit to a new dentist for my daughter, ISABELLA. The staff when we checked in were very friendly. Meghan came and got us from the front and took us to the exam area. During the whole process she was very informative and made us feel at ease with the procedure she might have to get done. Dr Merchant came in and explained the entire process while showing us the X-rays. I did not feel pressured to make a decision on any of the options. He gave us the pros and cons of each prior to our decision. The entire experience was very pleasant and friendly. I would recommend this practice to all my friends and family.

Positive experience: Everyone there is really friendly, but your overall experience largely depends on which dentist and/or hygienist you get. Dr. Merchant messed up my crown so many times he finally sent me to an endodontist to finish the job. It still broke a few times during the five-year coverage period. Recently, it broke just a few months past the five years, and Dr. Aguilar (he’s new, I might have his name wrong) implied it might be my fault and told me they wouldn’t cover it. I’ve generally had good experiences with the hygienist, but there is one named Kelli, who is a straight up annoying nag. Not sure if she still there.

Negative experience: Multiple reschedules. Seemed great at first got in and got work done on my teeth. Had to get two crowns. They did the initial work and I paid for the work and scheduled the next appointment for two weeks later to get the crowns put in. Showed up to my appointment and they had canceled me and put someone else in my time slot. I rescheduled. Got a call mid week with another excuse that they rescheduled me again. I can only go in on a Saturday due to work. My new appointment is for a month from now. 6 weeks after I got the initial work done here. It definitely comes across as they don’t care about patients as long as you’ve already paid. DO NOT GO HERE

Negative experience: I just had an unfortunate experience with Claudia, their receptionist. She called me around 2:30-3pm on Friday to verify insurance, stating in a voicemail that if I did not call back before 5pm that same day that my Saturday appointment would be cancelled. It is unfortunate that they did not factor in that I am a person with a full time job (the whole reason I need Saturday appointments, which I have explained to them MULTIPLE times) and work the same hours that they do. When was I meant to take a call from my dentist's office during the work day? I was given less than 24hr notice that they had an issue with my insurance, and I'd had this appointment scheduled for over 3 months. Why are we waiting until 2 hours before close on the day before my appointment to verify insurance? They had plenty of time to flag it/ verify and call me if it really was an issue. This entirely seems like someone did not do their due diligence and now I have to wait another MONTH to be seen for my scheduled service. I called this morning (Saturday) and spoke to someone from the Oral Surgery team who was as helpful as they could be and they informed me that the general team would not be in until 9 and that I should call back to verify things then. I called back at 9:30am and Claudia herself picked up the phone. I informed her that I had updated my insurance on the online patient forms Friday night, after work, and she replied that because she needs to verify insurance on a weekday and I didn't call the office back in the spontaneous 2hr window that she gave me yesterday that she went ahead and cancelled my appointment. I am very dissatisfied with the lack of tact and what feels like a scramble to rectify a clerical oversight at my expense. The complete disregard for the patients' given circumstances and time constraints is baffling. Could my insurance card not have been seen the day of? Could I not have been charged online until my insurance was verified on Monday? Again, why did we wait until the last second to verify insurance? And why punish me for something that they failed to take care of in a timely manner?

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience. I felt no discomfort and was done in no time. I truly had an amazing experience and forgot I was at the dentist which is typically a nerve racking experience. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Excellent customer service.
