Fantastic experience: This place is a God send if you are struggling financially and dealing with pain! I shopped and went all over town trying to get help. They got me in same day got me some pain medicine to get me thru to my appointment was all taken care of in less then a week! There in house financing is extremely fair and super straight forward! They are extremely straight forward about everything from costs to what to expect! I will be recommending them to everyone I know.

All questions were answered clear down till I walked back out the door I highly recommend these people in this dentist office to anyone who is looking for someone new. Fantastic experience: I had the perfect visit!! Awe from the time I walked in to the time I walked out!! I appreciate it and I’m so happy they got me in the same day and took very good care of me, I really thought it was nice how gentle they were with doing my x rays and very careful not to hurt me more than I was already hurting!! The dentist saw me and within in minutes had my treatment plan ready!! I look forward to seeing them for my extraction and they have the BEST PRICES!!!!!!

Positive experience: It's hit or miss and depends on the services you're looking for. The office itself and the building are very nice. The front desk staff is always friendly. For general dental care appointments, this location is actually pretty good. I've come, I've brought my kids, and I've always been pleased. When routine checkups get cancelled and rescheduled, it's still inconvenient but not a huge issue. However, for braces, at this point, I would not recommend getting them done here, and I regret choosing them over other options. I bought braces on a Black Friday special, and I feel like I'm probably getting what I paid for with the reduced cost. It's still quite a bit more expensive than Mexico, but I thought the more convenient location would make up for it, and, as I mentioned, I've always been pleased with the general dentistry here. There was no clear communication of the plan, timeline, etc. beforehand. I went to have my bottom teeth straightened. I had my first appointment, and I thought it might be a consultation explaining the process and maybe putting them on that same day. There was no consultation piece, they put braces on my top teeth only, then were like "deuces." When I mentioned again that my bottom teeth were the ones that I wanted straightened and asked why they didn't put both on, THEN a tech explained that they were going to have the top ones on for several months before they'd even put the bottom ones on. Information that would have been super helpful to know beforehand and would have slightly changed when I decided to start the process. So I got to have a worse smile with braces over my nice looking teeth AND still have the crooked teeth for several months. They also didn't explain very well how to clean them, wax, etc., so I had my gums all cut up for a while until I figured out about the wax and how to use it. Now I'm spending additional unexpected money every month for wax that's not a huge amount but, again, would have been nice to factor in beforehand (and would have been very nice to not have to figure it out on my own after a week of cuts all over my mouth and sore gums and difficulty eating). During the appointments for placements and adjustments, there's been little-to-no interaction with me. They'll sometimes chat with each other across me as I'm in the chair but rarely speak directly to me. Obviously I'm not asking for full conversations while your hands are in my mouth, but maybe acknowledge my existence and exchange some simple pleasantries, just low level patient care stuff. I schedule my adjustments about 2 months in advance at the appointments. Typically, braces are usually supposed to be adjusted every 4-8 weeks. They've called and cancelled multiple appointments. Then I have to call and reschedule, and by that point, they're booked out in advance and don't give any priority to people whose appointments THEY need to reschedule. I was supposed to have an appointment tomorrow for my next adjustment. They cancelled that one too, and now they can't get me in for an additional two months, so a total of FIFTEEN weeks between adjustments (assuming they don't cancel the next appointment too). Mind you, they already have my money for these braces, so there's little motivation at this point to provide good customer service, and they couldn't care less how long my treatment takes or whether or not my appointments happen in a timely manner. Since I've already paid for the entire process in advance in order to get the discounted price, I can't just take my business elsewhere. If I want to be seen somewhere else sooner, I'd have to pay their appointment costs and Risas would still have my money. Obviously, the braces are still on at this point. Your guess is as good as mine as far as when they'll be off, because I haven't gotten a clear explanation for that either, but I will update the review at some point in the future based on the final outcome.

Fantastic experience: We have been going here for some time for our son's braces and have always had a great experience! Today we went for an adjustment to my wife's night guard and were helped by both Fernanda and Anais in such a pleasant way! They brought in technician Erica from the back who gave us much insight into how to proceed forward. We thank you for your help despite the fact that my wife was not a current customer! We now have an appointment with Dr Hobson to get the work done!

Fantastic experience: I had a problem tooth. One that never caused me problems for years but I knew that the day it became a problem, it would be a big problem. And it was. I appreciated the fact that my dental assistant was so understanding. My dentist was definitely frustrated with the tooth, and if I were him, I would have been too. But he talked me through everything and made sure that I was understanding, comfortable and able to make the decisions I needed to. To the dental assistant - thank you for making me less uncomfortable and less shameful for throwing myself into a panic attack. I truly appreciate your kindness.

Negative experience: It’s been 2 years since I had my braces removed at Risas on Midvale and I don’t smile anymore! My teeth were left in terrible shape, not aligned and over jet to the point that one of my molars is now effecting my other teeth. My teeth were left extremely flared, and some of my roots exposed... My jaw pushed back and it cracks. I have lost facial muscle and facial fat because of this. I got a second opinion from another orthodontist and they said Risas did a terrible job and they messed me up that it will cost me $7000 to fix! I don’t have this kind of money Alittle back story- during COVID I decided to get braces to make space for a future implant. My teeth weren’t too crooked and I loved to smile regardless of some misalignments. They had a deal during November and I thought great! But it was one of the worst mistakes I decided to do! During my time at Risas, I saw 3 orthodontists-so a familiarity and relationship was never established. And when I thought Ok, this Dr is here to stay, I’d meet a new one a few months later and again another technique was introduced to align my teeth. I went through teeth filing, elastics and wires of all sorts for 2 years, and NONE said I had to get molars extracted. When the 3rd orthodontist (Dr H) that I met worked on my teeth for some time, I would bring up that my bite felt off, that my jaw was clicking, that my teeth and jaw did not feel right…he said it was all in my head, he wasn’t a magician and that my lips looked droopy because I was “aging”….ouch. But see this was NOT my first time in braces, I knew the process and the outcome and my mouth felt extremely different with Risas. Long story short, when it was time to remove my braces, they had initially said that my teeth were going to get cleaned and whitened, that never happened. When my braces were removed I freaked out to see in the mirror how SCARY they looked…when the technician walked out to work on my retainer, I teared up. The doctor NEVER came in to see my end result. I left home confused and in tears. A few days later I knew this was not ok. So I wrote to risas and asked for my money back! The folks at Risas who I emailed my pictures to, to express my sadness and their malpractice said my teeth looked “normal” but no they weren’t! After seeing the doctor again he said he made a mistake and I should have been seen before I left. He said that he could fix it but I needed 4 teeth removed! He said that if he were to tighten them anymore my teeth will fall! This was NEVER the case before when I had braces 10 years ago! I could not trust them anymore and in order to get HALF my money back I had to sign that I will not SUE! My thoughts and intentions were never to sue, they were kind to me but I want to make people aware that this can happen! my smile is NOT the same and it effects my mental health. Please be careful if you are going to Risas for braces. Maybe things have changed, maybe the Dr is paying better attention to your concerns and details, maybe their wait time in not over an hour and seeing them doesn’t exceed 8 weeks…. but I had a terrible outcome. I will mention that when I came back to talk to the office manager in tears, one of the dental assistants was so upset that my teeth were left like that. She said that was “not ok” and that she was very sorry . I wasn’t looking for perfect teeth but I sure was not expecting them like this. I trusted them because many of the staff was friendly and kind and respectful and so were all the orthodontists I met. Not sure what happened though-maybe Dr H was EXTREMELY overworked that all patients just started looking the same and all mouths were given similar treatments??? I went to them for affordability and I ended up worse than before. I miss my old smile and teeth before my experience with RISAS. Be careful and hope your experience is better than mine ❤️

Fantastic experience: I love it here, they make you feel welcome. I really appreciate them for coming in on Labor Day to give out free dental work. As everyone knows it’s not cheap for those who don’t have insurance. I’ve gotten my tooth pulled at this event last year, and a cavity filled this year. The process for both was so smooth. They made sure I was comfortable every step of the way! Thank you Risas Midvale Park for everything you do and for making each one of us feel special. We know you see plenty of people today and every other day, but each visit the energy remains the same.

Fantastic experience: Risas dental on Valencia is absolutely AMAZING!!! Their staff is exceptionally professional, courteous, and always willing to answer any questions you may have. Not only is the staff AMAZING, their prices for their services are way cheaper than any other place, especially Aspen Dental. My daughter needed quite a bit of dental work done, and Risas was 6K cheaper than Aspen for the exact same services. Dr. Sundberg, Alisve, was Jackie were beyond professional, and make us feel extremely comfortable anytime we come in. I will never go anywhere else for my dental needs for me and my family.

Fantastic experience: Had a chipped tooth filled before. Was very self conscious about it before but after the procedure I was given a mirror and literally cried of joy. I just called for another chipped tooth and the receptionist Flor was very knowledgeable, understanding, and patient which I really appreciate since having a chipped tooth is very personal to anyone with one. Thanks Flor and thanks Risas for hiring an awesome and caring person! :)

Negative experience: Review Estimated Timeline: March 2024 - My family and tried to book an appointment for cleaning and we could not get a appointment in a timely manner. Everything was always a month out due to this location only having one doctor. February 2025 - We were told they had a new doctor, Dr Sunberg. June 11, 2025 - I just got my braces off by Just Smiles Ortho. Great service and way cheaper than Risas. June 26, 2025 - I was able to book an appointment, and it was within reason. I was advised to have a mild cleaning and four crowns placed on tooth 8, 9, 14 & 19. July 14, 2025 - Dr Sungerg prepped tooth 8, 9 & 14. He did not want to start tooth 19 because he wanted me to get an evaluation for a root canal on tooth 19. NOW REMEMBER, I now have temporary crowns on tooth 8, 9 & 14. July 24, 2025 - Southern Arizona Endodontics (SAE) on Oracle Rd did a root canal on tooth 14, they also check tooth 19 and said there was no sign of damage to the roots. Aug 1, 2025 - Risas Dental put the permanent crown on tooth 14 and everything fit well. For tooth 8 & 9, Risas Dental lab in Phoenix AZ, who make these crowns gave me the incorrect size of crown for tooth 8 & 9 (two upper front teeth and there was a huge gap). Dr Sunberg rescanned tooth 8 & 9 and sent in for another set of crowns. We were supposed to start perp on tooth 19 but Dr Sunberg said he could start prep on tooth 19, because they have not received any evaluation from SAE. On July 24 - I called SAE to see if they had emailed the results of my evaluation. They said they mailed it to Risas. I asked Risas Manager to call SAE and get a copy of my evaluation by email, she said she would do that. The next day I called SAE myself because the manager could not get it done. Sometimes you have to do things yourself to get it done right. It literally took me 10 minutes. Besides whom in the hell mails out letters now and day’s lol. Aug 13, 2025 – At 10:00 – I called and talk to Anais, she said it was okay for me to do a walk-in (also they she barely told me she about my root canal evaluation). 10:15 AM - I LEFT WORK and showed up at 10:30 AM. I waited in my truck for 15 minutes, she called me into the office and said Dr. Sunberg could not start tooth 14 today. And I was just so irate!! I stood up out of my chair and walked out of the office shoving the door open leavening the building. From July until now Dr. Sunberg still does not want to start preparing for a crown on tooth 19. He said that three temporary crowns were to many. But didn’t I already have three crowns on tooth 8, 9 & 14…? My family and I are so done with Risas.

Negative experience: The only communication they had with me since the last time I was there in 2023 was a notice of a data breach in March 2024. I go to their website to set an appointment to get in for the cleaning I missed in 2024 and I keep getting an error code trying to create a client portal account, not to mention their next available appointment is in June. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Negative experience: Greatful they have later in the day appointments & even Saturday availabilites. Front desk staff is nice, the technicians are nice- other folks not so much. They overstocked fillings, I have to go somewhere else now to get them filed down. I now need several root canals too because of the shoddy cavity fillings. Other dentists asked me to schedule a cleaning, because it looks like I didn't receive one. I received one, half-assed in the middle of my filling by the person doing the filling. Not a hygienist. Was extremely painful, and lasted them 3 min. That's not a cleaning. Also very annoyed that I received such awful care, and was required to pay EVERYTHING upfront. Will not be spending money or time here in the future. Had expected better from the reviews. My sister had a similar experience, when she went into her 2nd session - in PAIN from the first. She was asked if she was given any pain meds the first time, she wasn't. They said that was weird. And proceeded to not get a prescription in for any the 2nd time around, and make things even worse on the next set of fillings. She now has several dead nerves, the teeth are completely loose. She also needs several root canals. Any attempts to get help from this location regarding it fell on deaf ears. Only telling her she'd be in pain for a little while, trying to shift any responsibility from themselves. A little while is a wk or so. Not MONTHs of it slowly getting worse, constantly in pain. Having to get antibiotics and high grade pain meds from ER visits because OTCs stopped working. Extremely disappointed, proceed with caution.

Fantastic experience: This was my child’s first time at Risas and from the moment we arrived the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The office was clean and presentable. Once in the back office the staff were attentive and made my child, who at the time was very anxious, feel comfortable. The General Dentist and Orthodontist were both friendly and explained everything well to me. Over all, it was a great first experience and I have now switched myself and my other children over to Risas. ☺️

Negative experience: Went in for a cleaning and they didn’t even brush or floss my teeth. They barely touched a few teeth in the front with the tool and polished my teeth. That was it! Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: When I first walked into the door of this establishment, I was met by a passionate and genuinely caring team of individuals who did beyond their best to help me when I was a patient in their hands. They treat you with respect, care, and integrity that is really underappreciated nowadays that I have come to respect from businesses like these. The staff was super open, non-judgmental, and helpful whenever I had questions or concerns that I wanted to address. Not only that, but they do exceptional work. In my appointment, the dentist was enjoyable to be around and he worked with purpose and commitment. Another person, I believe his name was Julio, exhibited a level of patience and understanding that I could only dream of! I could not ask for better service. If you are to choose any dental establishment to work best for you, I would definitely consider Risas.

Fantastic experience: This location has a team of friendly, experienced, and welcoming professionals. After my children had their braces removed, I decided to enroll in their affordable monthly payment program for braces. I continue to engage with Risas for teeth cleaning as I feel confident and comfortable with the staff.

Fantastic experience: Everyone is so friendly (and surprisingly beautiful??) at this place and they don't get annoyed when I ask too many questions Their prices are so so reasonable too! And they do zero interest payment plans which is craaaazy The dentist man was nice and really funny too and didn't give off any creepy vibes! He also took my pain seriously and gave me more numbing agent and didn't make me feel bad for needing it. Friendly and funny and relaxed, I really had a great experience here. Thanks Risas! Negative experience: I’m at my second visit and so far it has been great. Very sweet and kind clinic staff. I have had many issues at other clinics but I feel like they genuinely listen here. I’ll update later if anything changes UPDATE: I had to come back the next day after some fillings due to some discomfort. It wasn’t a scheduled appointment, it was a walk in so it was quite a wait. However they got me in, and took my concerns seriously. They even apologized for the wait and fixed my filling. Very kind and compassionate. I have had issues with dental offices in the past, so I was worried but honestly, I shouldn’t have. I highly recommend Risas on Valencia. Shoutout to the kind staff! Update almost a year later: After getting the filling fixed I still had pain and discomfort. For a week I waited. I called and came in as a walk in. They took some xrays, and said there’s nothing they could do, and that it was best to wait as it could still be pain from when I originally got my teeth done. I had come in one-two more times and was told they could not help me. I went and cried in my car. It’s been almost a year and I still have pain in my mouth. I cannot chew food on one side of my face and it hurts badly when food does get chewed on that side. This was the kind of pain I was experiencing after getting the filling done. And a year later it’s still evident. A key point here is that when I got my fillings done originally, it was not the dentist who filled them. He was in his office it seemed. I haven’t gone back to the dentist due to this and have been scared to get my teeth fixed as it can be expensive. I’m 21 so I no longer receive discounts for dentistry stuff. I’ve heard great things about them, and at first it was all great for me. I think I’d rather go to Mexico and get my teeth done in all honesty. I already disliked going to the dentist’s office and this cemented that more for me.

Fantastic experience: Today out of the kindness of their hearts they treated me to a free filling and it was an absolutely amazing experience. I was so scared and they made me feel comfortable and had me laughing during my visit I will definitely be going back.

Fantastic experience: Had a few event on labor day, they started early, came out smiling giving high five and provided donuts and burritos for the wait, very kind. I had Dr.gibbs and assistant estefanie and they were both very kind and high spirited, extremely kind and efficient staff.
