Fantastic experience: I’m deathly afraid of the dentist with good reason, I’ve had nothing but terrible experiences in the past. I always walk out with more problems than when I went in. Blue Back Square Dental completely changed that for me. From the moment I arrived, everyone was so kind, gentle, and understanding. They made me feel safe and truly cared for. They take the time to explain everything, and they never try to upsell or push unnecessary procedures. For the first time ever, I left a dental office feeling grateful and at ease instead of anxious or in pain. I can’t thank them enough for restoring my trust in dental care. If you’re nervous about going to the dentist please give this place a chance. Absolutely wonderful team and an A+ experience all around!

Negative experience: This office is a scam. They charge interest on their bills before you even get the bill from insurance, late cancelation fee of $66 when life happens. Before you leave the office they take you into a room to explain what you will owe for dental work before you are due back for the procedure. It is clear they are very focused on fees and your money. Office itself is outdated. Questionable dental work recommended + recommended Botox. My insurance no longer accepted my typical dentist which is why I switched to BBD. Will not be returning. Absolute scam of an office.

Fantastic experience: Blue Back Dental provides professional, excellent care. The staff is friendly. Dr. Liz Holzhauer is a gifted dentist who explains procedures in detail. Her dental assistant, Rachel, is kind, extremely competent and friendly. Rachel lets you know ahead of time exactly what she is about to do and explains how you may feel. She also offers helpful tips on dental care. She makes me laugh and puts me at ease. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I previously had a traumatic dental experience, which led to a fear of the dentist and in turn a long delay in seeking dental care. As a result, I developed some cavities. I expressed my fear to the amazing dental hygienist Donna and Dr. Jahved, and they did everything they could to put me at ease. I was so scared the day of the fillings, but the two of them created such a calm and peaceful environment, I truly didn't mind being there. Donna let me hold her hand during the numbing process and massaged my ear to distract me which was so helpful for me. She also had the heated massage chair going which really calmed me down. They talked me through everything they were doing and provided me so much comfort. They both kept making sure I was okay throughout the whole process and stopped if I needed a minute. Dr. Jahvid is so gentle and truly cares about her patients. I cannot imagine going anywhere from here on out for dental care.

Dr. Tim Holzhauer, Shannon, and the entire staff were so responsive, professional, and compassionate when I arrived. They were focused on diagnosing the problem and then coming up with an effective treatment plan to alleviate my pain. Throughout the process they went above and beyond by quickly coming up with a plan, contacting specialists, and making appointments for me. Their kind and supportive attitude toward me helped me stay positive and follow through with my plans to go on my trip the next day!! Many, many thanks!!

As an adult with severe dental phobia, Blue Back Dental dentists and all associates are amazingly kind, patient and understanding. They thoroughly discuss treatment options and coordinate with insurance on the patient's behalf so that you have a complete understanding of what they are recommending and why the certain procedures will benefit you. And, finally, you understand clearly what your cost will be, if any. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: The office was clean and neat. Receptionists were very friendly, and made me feel welcomed. My dental hygienist, Lucy, was awesome. She was very attentive and informative. I’m usually very anxious and a little jittery when I go to the Dentist. But Lucy made sure I was relaxed. She did a really good job on my teeth. Fantastic experience: My wife and I left Blue Back Dental about 10 years ago because of insurance changes and are glad to be back. We were both surprised to find out the dental care we’d gotten after leaving Blue Back, while adequate, was not on as thorough, especially in the hygiene area. We received the most complete and thorough cleaning in 10 years and can’t stop running our tongues over our teeth, just like after having braces removed! Fantastic experience: Blue Back Dental is, without a doubt, the best clinic in the world. I've lived in both Boston and DC, and I will travel from wherever I am just to visit Blue Back Dental in WeHa/Avon. If necessary, I'll even fly to get there. The level of service and quality is unmatched, and I can't recommend a specific doctor because I've seen about four different ones, and they were all outstanding. In DC, my husband visited a highly advertised dentist who served Capitol Hill's finest, hoping to save his tooth. They couldn't help him and told him it was a lost cause. However, Blue Back Dental made it happen with ease. Their hygienist staff is fantastic, and the front desk and billing teams are amazing. They are never late and always fast. It's a pleasure to see a business run this well!

Fantastic experience: My 4 year old had some trauma to his front teeth that we’ve been keeping an eye on. When we started to see some discoloration, I emailed them pictures and got a response within minutes letting me know our options. When the tooth started to become painful, they scheduled a same morning appointment for an X-ray. They referred us to an oral surgeon and we will hopefully have the tooth out before the end of the week, but in the meantime, my son’s pain worsened significantly. I called after hours tonight and Dr. Liz Holzhauer called me back within minutes Our experiences have always been too notch, but the sense of urgency and compassion is something I deeply appreciate.

Fantastic experience: I have had quite a road with dental work so I was very cautiously optimistic when I found Blue Back Dental many years ago. I am extremely impressed with their skill, professionalism and workmanship. I highly recommend them, especially to anyone who needs in-depth, detailed work. I also get the best cleaning… Maybe ever!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to this clinic for more than 5 years and my experience has mostly been great except one or two hygienists. The treatment is quick and the hygienists and dentists clearly explain what they are doing and guide me in my process to improving dental health. Recently I began Invisalign treatment that is going well too.

Negative experience: I cannot recommend this office. I had scheduled an appointment for a cleaning and had specifically mentioned experiencing discomfort with a particular tooth that I wished to address during the same visit. Despite waiting for three weeks for this appointment and taking time off from work, upon arrival, I was informed that the appointment had NOT been arranged for the cleaning, but solely for examining the tooth. It was disconcerting to learn that I would need to reschedule for the cleaning, and unfortunately, the next available slots were far out. The lack of prior communication about this discrepancy in my initially requested service was concerning and disrespectful of my time. Moreover, the manner in which the provider communicated the situation seemed somewhat patronizing. They implied a 'miscommunication,' subtly suggesting the fault lay on my end, despite my clear specifications during the booking. Furthermore, they asked twice who I spoke with during the initial appointment process - as though I was supposed to be taking notes when I booked the appointment. This resulted in an undue inconvenience -such as my taking time off from work for an incorrect appointment. Given these circumstances and the apparent difficulty in correctly scheduling appointments, I opted not to proceed with having my dental concern examined at that time. Trust in a medical service provider is paramount, and regrettably, this experience has led me to question the reliability of this office in providing quality care.

Fantastic experience: This was my initial visit at Blue Back Dental in West Hartford. From the moment I entered, there was a feeling of professionalism in a very friendly and caring way. The Dental Hygienist, Michelle, proceeded to do her work along with Laritza. They explained every part of the process and their teamwork was very careful and productive. Dr Wu provided a wonderful amount of time and explanation of my dental needs. It was a great first visit!

Fantastic experience: All the staff are extremely professional, their pleasant and warm manner makes you feel like you belong to their dental family, from the front desk to the providers, everyone treats you with respect, explains every step of your visit, and are very considerate with your all needs. Even my youngest son who has been going there since he was 4 has never been hesitant to go by himself to the exam room, I usually wait for him in the waiting room. They even make little ones feel comfortable. I love and respect my dentists and everyone who is part of the Blue Back Dental team.

Fantastic experience: I came to Blue Back Dental specifically for cosmetic reconstruction with Dr. Liz, after consultations with other practices left me discouraged. From our initial consultation, I was shocked at the quality of care as well as attention to detail. The initial consultation cost 1/2 of what other practices charged me, however was 2x as thorough. I have a complicated dental history due to a trauma and was set to get married 6 months after our initial meeting, needing a cap replacement, veneer placement, and chipped tooth repair. I was also in the middle of orthodontic treatment. To say I was panicking would be an understatement. However, Dr Liz coordinated with my orthodontist and came up with a treatment plan. Dr. Liz was So compassionate and thorough my entire time with the practice. (Roughly 6 months of visits) I visited the Avon and West Hartford practices numerous times and each time was floored at the service I received. I have never felt happy or confident with my smile because of the past trauma and not so great reconstruction work I’ve had in the past, and this is the first time in my life I’ve felt SO confident and genuinely happy when I smile. Dr. Liz gave me my life back! If you have a complex history or not , and are in need of cosmetic dental care- she is the GO TO! I am actually sad I don’t go get to hang out with her every few months anymore- as she is such a great Dr. And all around genuinely fun person to be with. 20/10 would recommend!!!!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Meltzer did a great job on my surgery to fix an infection under my gum around an upper implant. He was very kind and careful and did an excellent job. He was very gentle putting in the numbing agents, the surgery and the stitches. He explained everything step by step. I would highly recommend him for this type of dental procedure if needed.

Fantastic experience: Dental hygienist and dentist were thorough and excellent. Don’t care for the policy of photographing me against a black background similar to a mugshot, nor the photos taken of my mouth and requiring me to hold devices to keep my mouth open. Unnecessary. Parking garage: The entrance through the parking garage is unnavigable without on the spot assistance. Thankfully a delivery person helped a few of us out. There is an escalator that goes to the second floor and no further. There is an elevator in the garage area that goes to the third floor, only for the garage. There is no signage otherwise that will help you find the third or fourth floor in the office building. There should be signage at the first and second floor of the escalator that states; The 3rd & 4th floors of the office building are only accessible by the elevator directly off the escalator Floor 2.

Fantastic experience: 100% recommend going to this practice for your dental needs! The office staff were all very nice and knowledgeable and every hygienist was also very kind and helpful and made sure I knew what they would be doing throughout the cleaning. Dr. Tim was also very considerate of how I was feeling while having a procedure done and was very personable as well. He did a great job fixing one of my teeth and filling my cavities and the whole thing only took an hour. They even called me the next day to see how I was feeling. This is a great practice full of great doctors, hygienists, and staff and you will definitely have a great experience.

Fantastic experience: I had to have a crown put in today. Dr. Liz Holzhauer performed the work and let me know in advance of each step, what she would be doing and what I could expect to occur. She was very professional but friendly and made me feel very comfortable and that I was in good hands. The front office and support staff were all very professional and friendly as well. It made the dental office experience very comfortable and that I was having quality work performed.

Fantastic experience: If you have a phobia of dentists like me, go here. Every single one of the staff is amazing, I’ve been going here for years and have worked with a lot of different people and they’re always amazing. The tools and methods they use are waaay better/gentler than any other dentist I’ve ever been to. I could go on but I’ll just say it’s nice to finally not dread dentist appointments.
