Negative experience: Don’t go if you’re on Medicaid or need fast care. “Booked out a year in advance” and yet they never seen that busy…

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience. Ive been to a few dentists over the years that have made me eager to leave but the staff here made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Dr.Mike was great and the staff had very welcoming vibes. Even while dealing with an irate customer in store which I personally know can be a challenge. 10/10 would recommend

Negative experience: I hate this place,they lifetime ban you if you miss Apts they our horrible people they know if you pay cash your good but state Medicare patientst get treated like second hand citizens

Fantastic experience: Ive been seeing Dr Mike to have some things taken care of with my teeth, a lot of extractions, with partials to come in the future, as well as the remaining teeth all got fillings, and I have had the best experience, outside of the pain and whatnot that comes with all this work, and I hope that I can continue to see Dr Mike in the future. Im autistic and have avoided the dentist for so many years due to fear and anxiety but Dr Mike always remembers me and never uses that sharp pointed thing in my mouth, only fingers lol he makes me feel seen and comfortable and I'd recommend him to anyone needing a great dentist!

Negative experience: In August, I had an extremely disappointing and painful experience at the MCDC Sidney location with Dr. Houssein. Despite being in excruciating pain, he only took one X-ray and dismissed my concerns, saying it was “TMJ.” He didn’t even seem familiar with Botox, which is a common TMJ treatment in dentistry. I left feeling unheard and brushed off. Because my pain was unbearable, a family member was ind to pay for my emergency services and treatment. So I went to another dental office for a second opinion — and thank goodness I did. That dentist did a full panoramic X-ray and found a root infection that required a root canal and antibiotics. Had I followed Dr. Houssein’s advice, I could have ended up with sepsis or hospitalized. When I returned to Dr. Houssein for an emergency visit on the other side of my mouth, he was dismissive and condescending, asking “Why are you here then? Why not have the other dentist help you?” I explained that I didn’t have the financial means. He eventually confirmed I had an abscess but refused antibiotics, saying “Why poke the bear?” which made no sense since infections don’t just go away. I then called the Big Rapids location for help, but the receptionist and office manager refused to see me because I had been seen at Sidney. When I tried to explain my situation, the manager told me, “I don’t care to hear your story,” and canceled my future appointment, saying I’d never be seen there. I left feeling humiliated and unheard. It’s heartbreaking how patients on Medicaid are often treated as if they don’t deserve compassion or quality care. We work hard and still deserve respect and proper treatment. I ignored the negative reviews before, but I now understand them. I would strongly recommend avoiding the Sidney and Big Rapids MCDC locations. I hope MCDC leadership seriously reviews how patients — especially Medicaid patients — are being treated.

Fantastic experience: I’m highly impressed, I know I’m a little late but they got me in without judgement knowing my teeth aren’t the best. They did 4 extractions within 2 weeks apart and healed beautifully! Thank you. They came up with a care plan and instantly got into action, even though they’re booked out a little. You can always catch an emergency appointment or an appointment that’s open via message. Thank you all again!

Negative experience: Made an appointment for our toddler via referral to the pediatric dentist on staff. Waited 6 weeks for an appointment to be available. During the exam, the regular dds and rdh on staff stated that they no longer have a pediatric dentist on staff and would have to refer us to pediatric specialist. We drive nearly two hours to this clinic for an appointment with pediatric, and they did not have the courtesy to call or inform us that the pediatric specialist is not there. There is another My Community dentist here in town, without driving two hours… if I wanted to waste my insurance coverage without driving 4 hours unnecessarily I could have ….if they would have informed me. Now I have to pay out of pocket for another exam knowing our child was needing pediatric specialist to begin with. Ridiculous. Now we have to wait another unknown period of time waiting to get in to a different specialist, when they could have had their ducks in a row to call their pediatric patients to inform them that they could no longer serve them… rather then telling in person and charging for the visit. Our child needs to be seen now, their office staffs carelessness is now at the expense of our son’s dental wellness.

Negative experience: Medicaid patients beware: You will be discriminated against here. The office staff is horrible and extremely condescending if you question anything they tell you, including the office manager, who is more interested in gaslighting & talking over you to defend the way they treat patients rather than trying to hear and understanding frustrations. If you're a Medicaid patient and have a problem you need to be seen for, they will lie and say the only way to be seen is if you're one of their lucky callers in the 8am, "emergency appointment lottery" to get a same day appointment, but it's almost impossible to win one if these even if you call the moment the clock hits 8am and if you get frustrated, they say, "You're one of ten people who called, you aren't the only one not getting seen," which means that every day they're leaving 8 people without care. BUT what they won't tell MC patients unless you ask is that you can self-pay a mere $33 for an exam, instead of having to wait until your next scheduled cleaning or participate in their lottery. They often call the week before an appointment you've had scheduled for months just to cancel it because they, "don't have a provider available" and then only offer like 1 other alternate time up to 5 months later because by then, their schedule is too full to offer any flexibility, so your time and needs don't matter to them at all. They literally don't care. Their wait times in between seeing pediatric patients has drastically increased over the past few years - my 4yo is being forced to wait over a year between her, "6 month" routine cleanings, so preventative care isn't a priority here. They've claimed that's due to being short-staffed, but they've been claiming that for the last 3 years, hire somebody already! The cherry on top is that despite having over a year wait time between my 6yo son's regular cleaning, they were able to get my 2yo old in as a new patient in less than 2 months of me calling to schedule, so they'll prioritize you if you're a new patient... just to totally neglect your care after the first appointment to 12 months until her next one. Office manager and staff blames corporate for continuing to take on new patients while neglecting the current ones. The hygienists and dentists are great, but I absolutely NOT recommend this office to anyone who expects any real quality of care or having their kids seen twice a year for cleanings.

Fantastic experience: The warm welcome when I came through the door Greeted by Dawn made me feel at ease. I hate the dentist. Krystal My tech made me feel so comfortable with asking questions and having great responses and making sure and knowing that my anxiety was high, About the dentist when I use those creepy things and all the dental toolsshe just made it feel like it was OK and everything was gonna be all right and that we will come to a solution For my dental plan. Doctor Mike got jokes Made me second-guess myself, but just help me get more relaxed. And Christina is very thorough about explaining and helping you understand your appointments and what to do. I think this place has a great Staff and very friendly. I’m super excited to be working with them even though I hate the dentist one of my top Places I would recommend I think the only downfall is their waiting list, but if you are persist And won’t work done you will call consistently to get a opening and I didn’t know that and now I do so I can’t wait To be up there, but get an appointment cause I’m not waiting That long. Super excited though to get my smile back

Fantastic experience: It took a long time to be seen as a new patient, but so glad I hung in there! Super friendly people (front desk, dental hygienist and doctor!) I got a thorough exam with x-rays and was quickly back for a cleaning. I am sooo happy that my tea stains are gone! Fabulous job!

Fantastic experience: I was seen on 4/25/2025 for an emergency visit. I have been a patient for many years and it was one of the best visits I've had there thus far. They were able to get me in that same morning and I didnt wait very long in the waiting room. The hygienist was very professional and polite. Dr. Mike asked how he could help me and after listening to me, helped me figure out a care plan and even offered information that could possibly be of assistance to me. After this visit, they were able to move my next appointment up to only a week away. Before this emergency visit, I hadn't been to this location for a few years. New dentist, different hygienists and even office staff...new staff for this location has made a difference in the world in how I felt as a patient! Will definitely be returning to this location! Ty to all the staff at MCDC in Big Rapids!

Fantastic experience: My grandson/foster son is 8 years old and Autistic. He has communication barriers and sometimes has problems with following directions. Everyone, from the reception staff to the hygienist and the dentist, was super patient with him! They repeated directions gently and kindly, they were patient with him when he got a little impatient with the process and they treated him with respect and kindness at all times. He's excited to get to his next appointment! Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: Dr, Mike is amazing! I'm petrified of dentists...but this man is great! I just spent a couple hours in the office and now have a restored smile, able to eat properly again, and a restored confidence to smile once again! Thank you Dr Mike!!!!

Negative experience: Place isn’t the greatest by all means called yesterday for an emergency appointment they said call by 4:15 to 5 I did they said no appointments then I called again the next day they said call at 8am like what do I do then keep telling me different things

Wish there was a machine or something that could do the impressions for us. That was the only part that was a pain. Just nasty gel stuff and makes a mess. Other than that my experience was amazing. Negative experience: I called to see if my X-rays were sent over from Robinson dental. Christine answered the phone at the time. When I did ask she never gave me time to respond in a proper manner. She just kept asking "well do u know when they sent them ? Do u have any idea when they sent them ? When was they supposed to send them ? Again and again she just kept pushing without me trying to figure out the date. Well of course that set me off and I said nevermind I'm going back to Robinson dental. It might be an hour away but I definitely don't have to deal with pushy people. I also can get in within a week not months and months... Robinson dental has a lab right downstairs and can get anything I need done......I'm sure there are good workers there, but not happy with Christine at all...

Fantastic experience: For YEARS I have complained there was something stuck in the roof of my mouth. Dr. Mike is the one that believed me even though he couldn't see or feel anything. To be fare I could only feel it with my tongue. He decided the best corse was to make an incision and go fishing! With the help of the hygienist they found it!!! The gratitude I feel right now is beyond words! Thank you for believing me enough to help me!

Negative experience: It started out to be a pleasant visit but turned out to be painful and unbearable they had a problem getting the roots out which put a lot of pressure on my jaw and they told me they had gas that they could give me but when I asked for it it was no reply I'm really sore today I've been taking a Motrin and Tylenol but they don't seem to help a whole lot thank you for this opportunity to express my feelings about the tooth extraction Ed

Fantastic experience: the dentist an her side help are grate but the one Reception at the the desk that answers the phone an checks you out an older lady is rude i came in as an emergency checking out she was rude with me because I didn't have all my out of pocket money up front for my bill today I gave her my last $55 dollars an she got rude with me an said that she'd have to pay the rest of my bill because I didn't have all the money sorry I'm not rich or made out of money I have bills to lady she's snotty an asked if I'd have all my money for getting my two teeth pulled on june 11th 2023

Fantastic experience: These people are amazing. For ANYBODY like me, who has an overpowering fear of dentists , this is definitely the place to go. I had a mouthful of rotten teeth, at no point in time during any of my appointments, did I come out of the appointments in pain. They put you right at ease the very second you walk into the office .Dr. Stevens is an incredible dentist and no words can express how appreciative I am for all that they have done for me.

Fantastic experience: I had to personally come say how good my hygienist was, she knew her stuff. i felt very comfortable and she helped me with all of my needs. I dont remember her name but i know shes been there for 8 years. im very pleased with today with all staff. I've had bad experiences in the past , so this place went above and beyond. also I'm really impressed with how Christina the front desk person made my day better by her cheerful smile and attitude and even found me an appt to fix my teeth in a timely manner. Both of the front desk people do an amazing job. and the lady hygienist in the back is super amazing too!!

Negative experience: I had an appt that I had to wait a year for and the doctor they scheduled me with had moved to another one of their offices without warning. So when I showed up to my appt they couldn't do anything for me and told me to call the MCDC office that Dr transferred to. Well they said it would be a year and a half before I could be seen. So if you don't mind waiting 2 and half years and working with a medical office that doesn't communicate changes then this is it..

Fantastic experience: My three year old had to have a filling. I had her twin sister with me since I didn’t have a sitter. Due to policy, I couldn’t take sister back with her. They said they would try taking her by herself and see how it went. I was so sad and scared… but oh my goodness. She came out ALL SMILES and she was THRILLED! Telling me her teeth were all fixed! They said she did amazing! They kept me updated and did SO well with her. I love this dental office! I drive from out of town to get here and it’s totally worth it!

Positive experience: I normally have a good experience each time I am at this office. Today it seemed as though MCDC was understaffed and the Dentist I seen wasn't very friendly. I have oral surgery coming up and clearly my opinion on my treatment plan doesn't concern him. The ladies there were very kind and caring as they always are.

Positive experience: The Dental office is very good and very busy. It's taking a long while to get my top dentures but I'm sure that I will be happy with the results due to the system setup for the process. I like and trust my Dentist and the staff.

Negative experience: They do NOT listen or care what the patient wants; nor do they take the patients words into consideration. They have caused me more pain and simply are not a good place to go not even for emergencys.

Negative experience: It blows my mind a dental center that can run in this manner. It took 2 years to get an appointment, had one scheduled then 3 days before it they call to reschedule for a year away!! Wow...I keep the appointment cause I didn't have any teeth bothering me at the time. My appointment came, teeth were ok. Now 4-5 weeks after my cleaning/appointment I had a filling fall out, I call to try to schedule an appointment just be told I can't schedule an appointment for that because at my last appointment it doesn't show I need work to said tooth...well that's cause I didn't then! The filling fell out after that apartment! I'm just baffled at how a business can run in this manner, I'm better off going to Mexico for dental work. Very disappointed, if you have the option try to find a different dentist office.

She gave great suggestions on how we can move forward in a safe efficient way as my husband's medical conditions complicate things. Fantastic experience: Had to get multiple fillings and it went very well. The numbing shots didn’t even hurt and I didn’t feel pain the whole time. The doctor and assistant were very helpful with my jaw getting tight/not adjusting right and letting me take breaks to rest. Overall very good experience and feel less anxious to get my next fillings done.

Fantastic experience: The very best dentist I've ever been to, and that's something since I'm 75 years old. My dentist is Dr. Stevens and I really like and respect him. All the nurses and staff are really helpful and very nice.

Fantastic experience: Such a great experience - the office is decorated nicely for the holiday (and CLEAN!) and everyone there was kind and knowledgeable. Have been coming here for years- even with how far out you need to schedule an appointment , I will not go anywhere else!

Positive experience: Pros were that they were able to get all 4 of us in on the same visit! And she worked with me over the course of a couple of days to get insurance straightened out! Cons were that after waiting a year to finally see them, the hygienist was sick & they couldn't see 2 of us. And they only reached out 1x to try to reschedule. We were on a camping trip & not available for a next day appt. After that they never did reach out again to try to reschedule.
