Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Carolina Pediatrics Dentist – Wakefield. This was one of the most unprofessional and uncomfortable medical experiences I’ve ever had. The staff were rude, dismissive, and showed no patience or compassion toward my children. A pediatric dental office should make children feel safe and parents feel respected — instead, we felt judged and unwelcome. As a concerned parent, I asked questions about my children’s care. Instead of calmly explaining or reassuring me, they called me “rude.” That is completely unacceptable. Parents have every right to ask questions about their child’s health without being insulted. When I respectfully confronted them about their behavior, they told me not to come back. Rather than addressing concerns or improving communication, they chose to push a family away. If you are a parent who values professionalism, kindness, and emotional safety for your children, I strongly recommend finding another pediatric dentist. Your children deserve better treatment and a team that truly cares.

Fantastic experience: Great front desk service and love the dental assistants!

Fantastic experience: For the first time ever my son had a cleaning without crying. My son is on the spectrum and cleaning is teeth is challenging. His provider was considerate enough to use different tools that didn’t have noise to help ease his cleaning. His teeth look amazing afterwards. I can’t thank you all enough!

Fantastic experience: We’ve had such a wonderful experience with this pediatric dental office. The dentist and the entire staff are incredibly kind, patient, and welcoming. They truly go above and beyond to make kids feel comfortable and safe.

Fantastic experience: Everyone is always SO great at making my kids feel comfortable! The office coordinator and office manager are the brightest faces when you walk in and walk out! All the Drs and assistants are so wonderful with the kids and really do know how to make it a less stressful and less anxiety filled appointment! Highly Recommend!

Negative experience: I have been going on this location for the bast 11 years. It appears to me through that experience that the customer service and overall patient experience has declined. I doubt this is the experience of everyone. My personal experience is that once I dropped my dental insurance, I was treated like a problem not a client. However you get a discount for paying cash, and it works out to be roughly 5-7% savings with MetLife only paying 30% of the total bill. Here in lies the issue in my opinion, why treat a patient that is paying less with the same respect as someone they are over charging insurance. I hear the comment at least 2x ever visit “oh you don’t have insurance”. To top it all off. This time my oldest is 13 and my youngest is 12.. they charged me $120 more on a routine visit because “my child is older”(the reason I was given by the staff). Maybe this was a long time coming for me to leave. But I suppose it’s time.

Fantastic experience: From the moment we arrived we were welcomed like family. Everyone was so helpful and fantastic with my 17 month old. She did not want to leave. Dr. Johnson was so sweet and excellent with my baby. We left happy and excited for our next visit. I highly recommend Carolina Pediatric Dentistry for your child’s dental home. Updated: I now take both my girls there and everyone is excellent with both of them. They were both so excited to go to the dentist today. They happily go back and get their teeth cleaned without me. The office is extremely kid friendly. They have games to play while waiting, movies to watch during their dental cleaning, and fun prizes after they are finished. We wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Negative experience: 0 stars. Horrible experience! Never went back. Very rough with my 7 year old at the time.. I thought this place was great, people need to look at the 1 star reviews! Their all saying the same thing, very aggressive with children and don't let parents back, and not friendly towards kids yet the work as a ped office. We never went back after that incident. And this was a couple years ago but I still can't believe this is happening at a dentist office for kids.

Fantastic experience: Edit: brought my 1 year old twins in today for concerns about their teeth and the staff was great with them! My twins are screamers and super weary of strangers but surprisingly 1 twin let a staff member even hold her to take her to the back and they did their best to ensure they were comfortable & got a thorough cleaning. No issues & a clean bill of health! I really love this place for my babies!! Original review: Was told at my son’s original dentist appointment that he had 2 cavities. Was referred to this place & come to find out he has NONE, only has healthy teeth & gums. Will be cancelling his next check up at previous office and continue bringing him to this place! They had a fun waiting area for kids, gave him coins to get little prizes from a “gumball” machine for doing good, & even had a tablet for him to watch paw patrol while he waited for dentist to see him. They were great explaining everything to him (he’s 3 years old) so he wasn’t scared or worried.

Fantastic experience: Had a great first experience with Carolina Pediatric Dentistry today with my son. Everyone was welcoming and took careful care to make sure we felt comfortable.

Negative experience: Maybe you guys need to add someone else to help your new patients to make an appointment. It took me a half hour over the phone to make an appointment, but we ended up with sending a link to fill out all my info, which I'm still waiting and haven't got yet. UPD: got the link after two calls to the office, filled out all my info. And guess what? Next day, they called me to tell the appointment somehow disappeared and they can't make it up!

Fantastic experience: Been bringing my kids for over two years now. Service is always great! Staff is always friendly and attentive. They make my boys feel comfortable and properly communicate everything with me.

Negative experience: Don't come here if your child has special needs, they were rough with my child and aggressively push him down. He couldn't hear them because they had the music turned up a little louder than usual and made him watch tv on a ipad. My child has never reacted to any provider not unless something is being done to them. He was uncomfortable and they didn't seem to care. He pretty small, when they are very small you dont recline him all the way back. At our previous dentist they reclined him slightly because of how small he was, but this women reclined him all the way back almost fell out the chair and almost injured himself. The assistant didnt seem to have common sense nor did the dentist. I have never seen this before. Not only that, but he didnt want to swallow the fluoride he wanted to spit, he had so much in his mouth she told him to swallow it and I told her no and to use the suction. He swallowed it and got sick an hour later from it. You are a grown adult I shouldn't have to tell you to do things you should already know. At the end of it they told me to not bring my husband i have three kids he helping me, so if that's the policy why did i see kids with two parents in the back. You saw me with my three kids and my husband. when they took us back, they put my other two kids in a isolated room and it wasn't a room for patients,the dentist look confused as to why they put them there. Why not put them in the dental chair like the other children or take them back one by one. Im not upset because the assistants seems to be lacking common sense and dont know any better. But i shouldn't have to tell a grown adult what to do. Please listen to the other review they dont have the mental strength to deal with complex situations they dont seem to handle challenges very well at a workplace

Fantastic experience: What a great experience I have every time with my kids at this dentist! They are so caring, knowledgeable and kind to my special needs daughter and the others as well! They are patient and so efficient: I am so thankful they are a mile away because this is the only place I will take them!

Fantastic experience: Everyone was kind and patient with my 6 yr old. They made sure to show her the instruments and explain what they do. They also were very reassuring to her.

Negative experience: This place has a huge waiting list. I asked for information about my son's teeth, and only one person came out, then another, and they didn't give me the information I needed. I went for a follow-up appointment for his teeth, and they didn't give me any information either. There were too many people waiting to have their children seen, and that's why they don't provide good service. I strongly disagree with the service.

Negative experience: DO NOT COME HERE PARENTS. I am a former patient of this practice. If i could give this practice 0 stars I would! (This is my personal experience) Doctor Johnson is not a good dental hygienist. I have a pain disorder (I have a as well disability) and when I said it hurts she looked at me and said “you’re setting a bad example for that other little girl in the chair and I needed to act my age” That’s not how you treat patients with disabilities or special needs. everyone else in the entire office was nice she was the only one who was just awful. They also refused to have me as a patient anymore after they claim to allow people up until a certain age I was below that age. So parents with a special needs child choose somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: When we first walked into the office, my 4‑year‑old started crying because he realized we were at the dentist. Thankfully, the environment was so kid‑friendly that he quickly calmed down. The hygienist and doctor were gentle and patient, and everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. By the end of the visit, he didn’t want to leave! I highly recommend this place to anyone with little ones.

Fantastic experience: They have been taking care of my daughter since she was idk maybe 3-4 yrs old, and now my bf’s son for the last year. They make them feel Comfortable and are very detail oriented and always punctual! I would definitely recommend them to anyone again and again!

Negative experience: My daughter and i have been here for about a year now. Her last visit was concerning i had been waiting for this appointment to let my dentist know that she’s been having some pain on the side of her mouth where she had major surgery at, she is not eating or drinking on that side of her mouth properly they Xrayed the area and told me they didn’t know why because everything looks “good” this is an unacceptable answer to me because my child is in pain, and i still don’t have answers they brushed it off and scheduled a 6 month exam so next is the emergency room it’s like they just want to bill the insurance and does not care about the child!

Fantastic experience: Everybody was amazing here: The dentist, dental assistants, and other staff were all extremely nice and patient during our 4 year old’s checkup. They were great at explaining what’s going on, the status of her teeth, treatment options, and the next steps. Very professional!

Fantastic experience: We absolutely loved this dentist. I have a very nervous natured 4yo and a rambunctious little 2yo. The staff and dr was marvelous with how they handled both kiddos and very patient and knowledgeable. So appreciative for a great first visit.

Fantastic experience: This is not our normal dentist. We were referred to this practice for dental work for my eight-year-daughter! They made her feel safe and comfortable the entire time and what put them above the rest of all of my other experiences was that the office called later that afternoon to check up on her! It’s those little things that are the most important!

Positive experience: I visited this clinic today for my daughter’s emergency dental pain, and I’m very pleased with the experience. The clinic accepts Medicaid, which made the process smooth and stress-free. Ms. Rachael at the front desk was warm, welcoming, and professional. Dr. Reading was exceptional, after my daughter’s cleaning and treatment, he patiently answered all my questions and addressed every concern with full attention and care. I truly appreciate the time he spent explaining after-care and ensuring I felt confident about my daughter’s treatment. Positive experience: It was my first visit with my son. He is totally insecure about dentist; however, we both were pleased with the initial appointment. The staff was nice, the waiting time wasn’t bad at all, especially when it was a full house! Overall, it was a good experience. My son hasn’t had the visit with the needles yet.. So we will see!

Negative experience: Very disappointed! They did X-rays and applied fluoride even though I answered no " on the form they gave me. My son wasn’t a new patient.

Negative experience: I was recommended to this place by my children's pediatrician. So I had really high hopes. Upon entry I was greeted by the front desk staff and they were very friendly. When my child's name was called we both headed towards the back and much to my dismay I was stopped at the door and told my child only would be allowed thru at this point. My child is 4 and non verbal. I tried to relax but everything in me screamed get away from there but I decided to allow my child to go thru the process. After 40 minutes of waiting I was ushered to the back and told my child needed an extensive amount of work done...oral surgery to be exact. Mind you I was told this without seeing an X-ray or talking to the dentist for an explanation. Then I was told if I didn't go thru with the $18k oral surgery my child would be removed from the clinic. So guess what I went to get a second opinion at another place and that resulted in just two fillings.

Negative experience: This practice provided appropriate and unobjectionable care until my daughter turned 3 years old. At 3, they asked her to go back to the treatment area alone, despite the fact that I informed the hygienist she was afraid of the dentist. I was made to feel like a helicopter parent for wanting to accompany a scared 3 year old. A very predictable and preventable meltdown ensued, and I was then asked to come back with my child. They did not seem interested in letting my child calm down before continuing the visit/treatment. For people that work with children they were very brusque and didn't do anything to try to put my child at ease or explain what they were doing and why. At the end of the visit they told me she needed to come back alone on the next visit. There will not be a next visit. My child was shy enough she won't tell a strange adult she has to go potty, yet I'm supposed to send her back alone? Now I have a child that is even more afraid of the dentist than before and it was entirely unnecessary. Three year olds can't advocate for themselves. I know some adults afraid of the dentist. I feel it is entirely unreasonable to expect children under 5 to attend appointments without an adult. Also getting through to them on the phone is impossible. Edit: There is nothing to discuss. I'm sure your "no parents" policy is in place for a reason, but it will not work for my family. We are leaving the practice for a dentist that makes scared young children feel more comfortable and doesnt shame caregivers for wanting to accompany small children. My child will not return to a provider that makes her more afraid.

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough great things about this office! From the front office charm, to the tour around the facility before leaving your child for treatment, to the coffee room-complete with Bob Ross on the television- that parents get to wait in. Did I mention the coffee room! ;) such a nice touch. My child was made very comfortable from the start, and he loved the colorful paintings on the walls. Caroline was our dental assistant, and she was extremely kind and informative. Dr.Reading was my child’s dentist, and was so nice and knowledgeable-and reassured both myself and my child about some small cavities starting. Yasmine at the check out desk is a GEM. She made us feel right at home, as if we had know her our whole lives! I only wish they did grown up dental work, too! :)

Fantastic experience: We have been going here for about 4 years, but recently we had an emergency appointment. They booked us quickly, explained the process, and took care of my child so well. They really do a nice job of taking fear out of the appointments.

Fantastic experience: The office staff was friendly and punctual. This was my kids first time going back alone and there was no complaints! They understood sensory issues and Autism and made sure my kids weee comfortable. Everything was explained to me as far as care and they worked with me to set up next appointments with what worked for our schedule.

Negative experience: When I walked in with my three year old they had music playing in the reception area with explicit lyrics. My toddler repeats everything he hears, and I really don’t want him learning a cuss word from a pediatric dentist office. Front desk Staff either didn’t notice or care about the music. Like other reviews here state, The staff was also insistent that my son be seen all by himself at his next visit. I’ll find a more family friendly pediatric dental practice. That all being said the actual dental care was thorough and Dr. Jordan and Raquel the CDA were great with my son.

Fantastic experience: Great service ! Very gentle with my kids , I have a 2, and 5 year old. My 2 year told cried but they were still very easy and gentle. And helped make him as comfortable as possible. My oldest normally cries and screams but did so amazing ! I love this place 10/10

Fantastic experience: My kids have been patients for 13 and 8 years. We love Dr. Johnson and Dr. Morris and the new front desk lady Becky. What a superstar! Also Kimberly helped calm my little guy and was great! Jenny was also phenomenal! We love the practice! Also the insurance lady handled a very upset customer with such maturity and grace. And again the customer was then yelling at the front desk lady who also handled it well. The practice was busier than i have ever seen but I guess everyone was getting out after being shut in. Well done team!!!

Negative experience: Dissatisfied with my visit today. We showed at 7am for our scheduled time and my kiddo was taken to separate waiting room at 7:30. I was brought back at 8:30 with no acknowledgement of time we waited. We watched people who arrived before us get served and we are not new clients. The office was obviously overbooked, and I saw frustration of other parents. No regard to people’s schedules or know how on how to remediate. Checkout was also a mess and they were told we were made late. Terrible experience. I plan to go elsewhere in future. Beware of this shops operations.

Fantastic experience: The staff is overall wonderful. I was running a few minutes late from the daughter previous doctor appointment she got shots and she was not feeling well. The nurse said it was okay I was running late. As soon as I got there the nurse called my daughter by her name and everyone is so friendly. The staff made her 1st dentist appointment awesome. Fantastic experience: I love CPD, my son has been a patient for years now- the dentists are thorough and amazing, the office staff is courteous, helpful and they make you feel comfortable and welcome! Big shout out to Zury, Yasmine and Drea- they are so kind and down to earth- it feels like being around family! Highly recommend this practice!

Fantastic experience: We’ve been bringing both of my boys, ages 6 and 9, to Carolina Dentistry for three years, and it’s been an excellent experience every time! Initially, I was a bit worried about their policy of not allowing parents in the treatment room during appointments(especially wasn’t sure how my 3 year old will adjust) , but those concerns quickly faded. Both boys were taken together inside. After every visit, the staff provides a detailed summary of what was done and clear feedback, which has been incredibly reassuring and keeps me well-informed about my boys’ dental health. They’ve handled procedures like my elder son’s tooth extractions on the same day with great care, ensuring he was comfortable. They also consistently recommend sealants for permanent teeth, which I value for the extra protection. The office is clean and welcoming, with a kind and professional team that makes kids feel at ease. Scheduling is always convenient, fitting seamlessly into our busy lives.

Fantastic experience: The office is amazing!! The staff is so kind and patient with not just the littles, but the parents as well. My daughter has terrible dental anxiety and this is the only office I can take her to and you not tell. They were very thorough with the examination, explained treatment plans very well, and really made me feel comfortable with all of the work that needed to be done. And if you ever need to talk mom to mom to feel better, Diana and Sonia were so genuine and really spoke to the scared mother in me and made me feel so at ease with all of it. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: This place has been a Godsend for my son. He is autistic and non verbal and I think they met all his needs. I have tried other dental practices and no luck with services. This has been the first place he actually let them do the examinations and other services too. I would definitely recommend for any parents with differently able kids, this is the place that will take care of your child and you can truly trust them with your baby. Trust my son and I both have trust issues and he more than I. If he trust them your kid will be just fine!

Fantastic experience: Very friendly, my daughter felt comfortable, they were genteel and I could see they were outdoors and gentle with other kids, notably with special needs kids. Place was great for keeping kids occupied while waiting and doing the adult side of a dentist visit, the little clubhouse in the lounge was awesome.

Fantastic experience: I don't know where to begin with how wonderful these people are!!! They treated myself, and my children like we were family. It's hard juggling kids and appointments. They went above and beyond to make this easier for me. My daughter came in for a routine cleaning, which revealed complications that required somewhat invasive treatment. They took her right away and got it done for us with ease. They explained everything in a way I thoroughly understood. They took my 9 month old without an appointment for his first cleaning while we waited for my daughter! Evan walked us through most of it and educated me on how to better care for my children's teeth. office is clean and accommodating. I look forward to many more visits with CPD!

Negative experience: My husband waited almost 2 hours to be seen because of short staff. They quoted us $768 for two extractions and spacers, which is insane. Spacers are $0 on my insurance for in and out of network. Apparently they are out of network so things are 20%. We are going to another dental place because the cost is outrageous.

Fantastic experience: Dr.Johnson is the best. She is always so nice and pleasant. I know the children love her too. My daughter has seen her since she was 9mo and she’s almost 12 now. Love the office. Staff are great too!

Fantastic experience: Our 2 year old took a nasty tumble at 4pm on a Friday of a holiday weekend.. we needed to be seen immediately and Carolina Pediatric Dentistry made the time for us. The entire team was calming and provided thorough and immediate care for our son - would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Today was my sons first ever dentist appointment, we were treated very well, he was made comfortable for the treatments he had and I was assured and every single detail was explained to me and the dental assistant was amazing. Overall my experience was amazing and I would recommend this practice to anyone who’s looking for a pediatric dentist for their little ones.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday was my first time here taking my kids. The customer service here is top tier. Everyone is so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this place to family and friends. If I could give them more stars I would.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Barry-Blocker treated my daughter as if she was her own. My daughter had a dental emergency and wanted her to be seen by an emergency team before being treated. After going to the ER and being cleared, she encouraged us to return to the office to conduct the procedure, and this was after hours. This brought me to tears. I was so thankful for this as my daughter was going through so much. Thank you so much Dr. Barry-Blocker and her wonderful team!

Fantastic experience: Great place to bring your child if they have sensory processing disorder, autism, IDD, or language delays. They worked super fast, was able to get x-rays, and treat a small issue while there the same day. They also did everything they could to make my daughter comfortable. Would definitely recommend to anyone that is nervous about bringing their special needs child to a dentist. I will be bringing my child back for her dental needs.

Fantastic experience: They’ve truly mastered the art of making the dentist a fun experience for kids. The waiting room alone is a hit—with a two-story playhouse and tablets on the walls, our boys are entertained before the visit even starts. During the procedures, they let the kids watch movies on tablets (with parent consent), which helps ease any nerves. One thing that caught us off guard at first was that they take the kids back without the parents. It can feel a bit uneasy the first time, but it turned out to be a great trust-building moment. Now, our 3-year-old walks back like a pro without a second thought! We have three boys, and the office makes it easy to schedule all of their checkups at the same time—huge win for busy parents. Honestly, if I had gone to a dentist like this as a kid, I think I’d feel very differently about dental visits today. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: I really liked this place until i was told i couldnt get treatment for daughter because i had denied a mild treatment to her baby tooth that would eventually fall off. The lady who i spoke to was very rude; told me “i had to look somewhere else…”

Fantastic experience: Everyone is so nice from the receptionist to the DDS. The facility is very kid friendly. We love Dr. Johnson, but have also had a great experience with Dr. Morris. (We have not met the other dentists) They do a great job explaining everything to me and my son and help in anyway they can to make the teeth cleaning process easier at home and in the officer.

Fantastic experience: Today, was our fourth appointment and it was a wonderful all around experience from beginning to end once again. The customer service was exceptional. All of my questions were answered. Friendly staff and my kid felt welcomed. I definitely recommend Carolina pediatric dentistry to families in area in need of a new dentist .

Negative experience: Very poor experience! Worst experience I’ve had my kids have went there for a long time and they enjoyed it until today. We’ve had a six month cleaning scheduled for the last six months since their last time they went for one. I get there after driving 45 minutes to it and they told me that they cannot see us today. It would have to be tomorrow Because they messed up on their end as a mistake. Apparently, when they rescheduled their six month, clean and check up on my daughter’s spacer, they didn’t go far enough out for the insurance to cover it by one day. So I was very upset. I told them they could’ve at least gave me a courtesy call. They had all day from this morning until 230 when I got there to at least say hey I’m sorry. No need to drive up here or can we reschedule? There was a mixup on our end I would have understood, but they didn’t even Call or reach out to reschedule when they knew that they messed up. Some words were exchanged. I was trying to get a doctors note because I had to take off of work today. My kids missed school today all for this appointment for them to inconvenience us and then they discharged us from their practice as their patients which is probably for the better Anyway Just be aware of this dentist office!

Fantastic experience: They were patient, caring, supportive, and efficient! I am very grateful to them for helping my son with his teeth extraction. He has a great deal of anxiety about the dentist due to a bad experience. And they truly were amazing to him as well as myself!

Fantastic experience: Kayla was my stepsons dental assistant and she was absolutely amazing! She helped my son’s father and I with understanding everything we needed to know as well as walking us through everything that was done. Kayla you are the best!

Fantastic experience: My 2 year old had some trauma to his bottom teeth and we didn’t have an established pediatric dentist. All local dentist offices were closed on Friday’s but Carolina Pediatric Dentistry was open and got us in first thing in the morning! They were beyond helpful and so caring to my son which made him feel comfortable. He had to have his teeth extracted and they did such a great job and the recovery was a breeze! They called later in the day to check on him. I can’t say enough good things about the staff and practice!

Fantastic experience: We took a one and a half year old and a 2 and 1/2-year-old for their very first dentist visit, being foster babies, we were very concerned it would be traumatic. We cannot say enough about what an easy experience it was for everybody, including the toddler that required two teeth extracted. Kudos, thank you!!!

Fantastic experience: Such a great experience for my daughter and I! The staff were so welcoming and friendly. I usually have to go with her to the back, but she was so comfortable to go alone. That’s just how welcoming they were! Also, I greatly appreciate how they were able to get all of her dental work done in just the first visit. We live over an hour away and most would’ve made us schedule a separate appointment! So a big THANKS for that. The staff was all my daughter talked about on the way back home. If I could give 10 stars, I would !

Fantastic experience: Staff was quick to get my 18 month old son in. Kind, patient with my son, very professional and very reasonable prices (this wasn’t one of his twice a year visits, so I paid out of pocket). Highly recommend.

Negative experience: Made my daughter extremely uncomfortable at the get go, the only thing they said to her to get to know her was “I like your shoes” Other than that it was all forceful interaction. Not going here anymore. I did as a kid but they’ve changed

Negative experience: Won’t let parents or guardians go back continuously, only maybe on first visit, certainly not for over 5. Better to know know upfront and be consistent about it. Will drop you if you hesitate on that once notified. Edit: there’s nothing to discuss, if u allow a parent back, say that (they don’t and they won’t, that’s all most of you need to know).
