Fantastic experience: Initial consultation was great. People are fantastic! Wish I could get in a little sooner to have my tooth extracted but they are good so they are busy!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Allen was great to work with, treating the person not just the problem. Despite being a surgeon, he was willing to take a more conservative approach that avoided major surgery and allowed the issue to heal naturally, which was not the approach another oral surgeon was open to. His office was very nice, opting to help me after being charged hundreds of dollars by another oral surgeon where I was just a number on a spreadsheet. If another problem were to arise, I would definitely go back to see Dr. Allen and AZ Max Surgeons.

Fantastic experience: Dr Austin was very concise and clear about my treatment options, explaining why certain procedures were unnecessary and what was needed to correct my issue. All of the staff walked me step by step through the process so I would be ready on the day of my treatment. They listened to my special needs and made accommodations to help with my medication. They are truly attentive and empathetic-I highly recommend them for any oral surgery needs.

Fantastic experience: The intake nurse, Maureen as well as the O.R. staff nurses Heidi and Rosario were wonderful throughout the extraction procedure. Dr. Austin's expertise with general anesthesia and starting an I. V. are extraordinary, I never felt a thing! I highly recommend Dr. Austin.

Fantastic experience: Staff was very kind and caring. I needed to be sedated for an extraction because of past trauma. I felt very comfortable with the staff and the Doctor. Procedure was easy, I was waking up after like nothing had happened. I would highly recommend them if you have the same issues.

Fantastic experience: I have never been a fan of having dental work done, but my appointments at AZ Max have been so positive, I felt it important that I write a review for other apprehensive dental patients. I was referred to Dr. Allen by my dentist for an implant. The staff members and Dr. Allen are friendly, professional, and take time to explain the recommended treatment plan and answer questions. The road to an implant takes time, but I have been pain free throughout the procedure and recovery time, and I am confident that I have found an excellent oral surgeon. It is without hesitation that I recommend this group to you!

Negative experience: Horrible experience with Doctor Allen destroyed my smile and my life! He removed my good front tooth, so he can put two implants instead one to make money! I am still suffering to this date with a horrible bridge he made me do! I just went to do one implant, i already had one implant in. So to do two crowns for my own teeth and two separate implants, i was missing two front teeth, because of him now i am missing 3 front teeth! I have nightmares can’t sleep!! What a horrible greedy person Doctor Allen is!

I am a person that is scared to death to go to the dentist and with their kindness these put me at ease as much as I could be in that moment. They always asked if I was ok and if I needed anything. Positive experience: Lots of swelling and clear liquid coming from area of extraction. Return visit indicated no issue. Swelling persists after one month and drooling liquid. Somewhat arrogant and non-committal surgeon as to cause.

Fantastic experience: I had 2 molars pulled and then had bone grafts to fill in the gaps. This was done under IV sedation. The assistants who prepped me were caring, efficient and friendly and I experienced no pain at all before, during, and after the procedure. I highly recommend AZ Max Surgeons Tempe!

Negative experience: Horrible experience. I was referred for a cracked tooth. They got me in immediately which was great, I expressed my anxiety and they were so nice assuring me it would be fine. I move forward with the procedure. I get numbed and Dr Austin comes in, they put a gauze in mouth and pushed it back to behind my molar. That caused me to gag and the Dr became irritated. We tried again and he got it back but then said my tongue was in the way. I asked what I needed to do and he said you tell me what to do dear. He then grabbed the mouth block out of my mouth and abruptly said we’re done! I was shocked and began to tear up. He said I needed to be put to sleep he was not doing it. He then walked out and the assistants attempted to get me to reschedule. I said I would think about it. They ultimately refunded me and I left. I was able to get in today with a different office and it was a vast difference. I was not put under anesthesia. They stuck nothing in my mouth without warning and talked me through the experience. I did gag once and the dr assured me I was doing great. I was out the door in 15 min. In comparison the bedside manner was so horrible at AZ Max. If you are anxious I recommend looking elsewhere because I was even more anxious after this experience.

Fantastic experience: Just completed another post op appointment with Dr. Allen at AZ Smiles. All of my visits and care from day 1 have been incredible. I was always met at the front desk with great attitudes and respect. Additionally, the billing has gone very smoothly and explained in detail. The dental/surgical took the utmost care ensuring all safety avenues were handled and explained. And then there is Dr. Allen. What a kind and wonderful dentist! Fantastic experience: Everyone in the 2 offices that I have visited, have been awesome! They were all kind & respectful. I had to bring a 2 year old with me. They were patient with all 3 of us. The front desk people were efficient. They answered ally questions. The nurses have a lot of knowledge & if they didn't have the info, they either found out or got the person who knew how to answer. The woman who talked to us about the financial part, was calm & it felt like she understood where we were coming from. She didn't even look at us with pitty or disgust when we told here we had some things to look at with our finances. I appreciated that the most! Dr. Austin was amazing. He knows his stuff. I paid cash & they gave me a break on price for cash payer because my whole body was aching & did not want to wait for pre authorization time required for insurance. Fantastic experience: My dentist referred me to Dr. Austin for a tooth extraction and bone grafting to prepare for an implant later this year. Many patients get to do it all in one visit, but I was not one of the lucky ones. We went over all the options on the first visit and I felt comfortable proceeding. The surgery was so quick, and my post-surgery recovery went so well, that I almost wondered if Dr. Austin actually performed any surgery at all. I opted for general anesthesia and highly recommend going that route. Maybe it all went better than expected because I was prepared for the worst, but I think it was more the result of Dr. Austin's boss skills. His staff was also great - very friendly and attentive. I chose the right place for sure.

Fantastic experience: The doctors and the receptionists were very kind and gave me a friendly experience. They all seemed to know what to do and acted very professionally. I felt glad to have visited the place as they informed me with everything I needed to know for my appointment. I felt anxious at first because it was my first time visiting any surgical clinic but they treated me well and guided me through the whole procedure for my checkup.

Positive experience: Trevor Allen was wonderful during consultation. Price seemed fair based on other locations and staff were very accommodating. Had to go back as first operation was a failure. Also had difficulty getting ahold of someone on the phone sometimes.

Fantastic experience: Had my wisdom teeth removed here and the whole process was super smooth. Consultation was very straightforward, scheduling/working with the receptionists was clear and efficient, and the actual surgery was an experience that I couldn’t ask to be better. After the surgery, other than the expected soreness, I completely felt like myself with plenty of energy and totally coherent. Didn’t need a wheelchair to leave, didn’t need to nap when I got home.

He has excellent iv skills.I have small veins and he inserts my iv with ease on the first attempt.i worked ICU for twenty eight years and we would always put the ivs in for the doctors. Positive experience: I think the surgery itself was fine. However, communication could certainly improve. I work on the phone all day and figured I would work remotely after the surgery. After receiving and reading the book provided I learned I shouldn't talk much for a few days. It would have been helpful to know in advance so I could tell my employer. Also, I use a bipap machine and had to call and ask when I do could use it again as it wasn't covered in the post-op information. I paid for the entire procedure in advance per their policy and was told I would get a check from them after they received the money from my insurance. Over a month has passed and I discovered the insurance was never billed...the girl forgot.

AzMax has always been amazing when it comes to my teeth challenges.

Fantastic experience: 6 months after Dr Austin finished sinus lift / implant of the tooth on the left for my mother, the implant passed the stability test. She got the crown. Now she is due for doing implant for the broken tooth on the right. The initial X-ray didn't show the inflammation, so the plan is to do extraction / sinus lift / implant in 1 operation. But just before the procedure, Dr Austin found the inflammation and adjust to only extract the tooth, clean up the infected tissue and insert bone graft. Since the change is unexpected, Dr. Austin waived all charges for this operation. My mother will come back next Feb for the sinus lift / implant after the inflammation is gone and bone is healed. And same as last time, since we are paying out of pocket, Dr. Austin also gives us 50% discount. We are very happy with the results and I can see Dr Austin is always making decision in the best interest of the patient. I strongly recommend Dr. Austin.
