Positive experience: I’m disappointed. I had a crown completed by a dentist earlier this year. He is no longer with the practice, but it turns out the crown was not placed properly. I’m disappointed because I discussed the pain I was having during a follow up exam and was told (not by the dentist, but by his staff member) that the pain was normal and my body just needed to get used to the crown. I called to get an exam by the current dentist, Dr. Newsome, to discuss, but I can’t get in for a couple weeks. Also, the front desk person told me she wasn’t sure if I would be charged again since the former dentist left which is not the answer you want to hear. I’d appreciate transparency. On a positive note, the hygienist was lovely! I’ll update my review after I actually speak to the dentist. I want to like this practice but I’m on the fence after my cleaning today.

Fantastic experience: Appointment always on time. Quick in and out. Very nice staff, have always had a good experience there.

Positive experience: Disappointed that we were scheduled for dental appointments to have a routine cleaning done and the staff didn’t notice we had already come in twice this year and we needed to wait until January for our next cleaning. We had to reschedule our appointments once we got to the clinic because insurance wouldn’t cover the early appointments.

Fantastic experience: Let me give you my honest opinion! Dentist beyond scare me I get anxiety, i just terrified of dentist offices! This office and the staff and dentists are beyond amazing made me feel so comfortable checked in me! Explained everything in detail from procedures to costs so nothing was out of the blue! And this office is so compassionate honestly as long as i live this will be my dentist office!!!

Fantastic experience: Our family was looking to get established with a new dentist with a west side location. We also wanted to use our dental benefits before the end of the year. I called and the receptionist was able to get us scheduled promptly for dental cleanings. Went for my cleaning today and the hygienist was excellent and gave a thorough cleaning. The office was nice and clean and the staff were all super friendly. I highly recommend this office!

Fantastic experience: The staff are friendly and professional. They were able to see me quickly to deal with needing to replace a crown. All staff take time to let you know what they are doing. They do their best to make sure you are comfortable. The new crown fits well. Staff shared what they were doing throughout the procedure.

Fantastic experience: The level of care is excellent. Everyone is so friendly. They make you feel like your needs are the most important thing there is. I am 79 years old & just had bone graft & implants done. It was an extensive procedure. Dr. Newsome and his great crew were extremely supportive, always cheering me on while making sure I was focused on helping. I never felt a bit of pain. Pressure yes, pain no. The truly amazing thing is that by the time the anesthetic wore off, I felt tired but very little pain. I took a dose of ibuprofen & acetaminophen. That was all I needed, and I have not needed anything stronger at all. This is a level of expertise and caring that is truly outstanding.

Positive experience: The Doctor, Dental Techs, and front office staff are all very professional and skilled and they are warm and friendly people. I am happy with the care. The only slight concern I have is that they .talk a lot about insurance and maximizing the annual caps. I suspect that is true for other “for profit” service providers as they are a business.

Fantastic experience: The receptionists are very pleasant, organized, informed, accommodating, and helpful. They always send texts to remind me of my appointments. My Dental Assistant, was also very kind , careful, efficient and capable. She does a wonderful job cleaning my teeth and locating and assessing any problems areas in my mouth. The Dentist, Boyd Newsome is a very kind, friendly, capable, and informed Dentist. If he finds any problems that are not in his expertise he refers you to Dentists who are specialists in the field needed.

Fantastic experience: Gresian was my hygienist, and she was absolutely incredible! A++++ One of the most professional and gentle cleanings I’ve ever had. She took her time, explained everything clearly, and made the entire experience completely painless. I left feeling like my teeth had never been cleaner. Can’t recommend her highly enough!

Negative experience: I scheduled a wisdom tooth extraction here after confirming multiple times that the procedure could be done with local anesthetic only (as I had done before at another office). The dentist and staff all told me it was possible. I took time off work, arranged support, and confirmed the appointment a week before. When I arrived the morning of the procedure, I was told the doctor had canceled it because they didn’t feel comfortable with local anesthetic. This should have been communicated well in advance, not at check-in. I lost work time and money due to their lack of communication. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this office due to the unprofessional handling of scheduling and patient communication.

Additionally, I was not informed of the specific issue, never shown the x-ray, nor did I receive antibiotics for the infection (despite several attempts) as I continue to wait for an endodontist appointment...

I've had many routine cleanings, x rays and a few cavities taken care of, and it's always been great. We don't have insurance, and are self pay, and the prices are very fair as well.

Fantastic experience: After 12 yeara of being with another dentist it was time to switch, I had my Dentist appointment today with Dr Marshall here at river point family dentistry The office is so nice and clean and Dr Marshall was amazing, they do EVEYRYTHING in house, X-rays, oral surgeries, braces, whitening, literally everything, you won’t need to be referred out anywhere ever. He took the time to look at my teeth very thoroughly and showed me the X-rays and pictures of my teeth on the screen in front of me! I felt valued as a patient here and will refer my whole family to join me! I highly recommend!

Positive experience: The place is beautiful and the front desk staff and dental assistant and hygienist were super great! I really appreciated their kindness with me having my son there and how well they were with children. I am giving three stars because although the Dentist was professional in all that he did with me and my son, I did not appreciate how he treated the dental assistant when we were in the room. It was clear he does not treat his employees with the respect they deserve and if I was that person I would find a place that respects me. I felt so bad for the assistant and don’t wish that sort of treatment on anyone. I don’t care how little time you have to “train a new employee”. Belittling them in front of a patient is not professional.

Fantastic experience: We've been with Riverpoint Family Dentistry for 12 years. I would never go anywhere else. Dr. B and his staff are always friendly. They have a concern for you and the care you receive. I went for a cleaning only to discover I need a crown right away. Dr. B fit me into his already busy schedule. If you are looking for a great dentist this is the place to go.

From the ladies who helped me make my appointment (who went above and beyond to get me in) to the ladies at the desk, the lady who cleaned my teeth, and the dentist himself! They all made me feel comfortable, calm, eased my fears, explained everything to me, answered questions, and did an excellent job with my teeth! I will be bringing my fiancé and baby to see them too. I hadn’t been to a dentist in years, the common fear of the dental chair, but after my experience today, I look forward to my next appointment!!

Fantastic experience: UPDATE 5/15: Riverpoint is a very friendly and communicative business that shows compassion for their clients and care. While I still hold reservations about the Dentist who owns the practice, there is no doubt that the facility as a whole is a 5-Star business. They have helped my oral health journey in many ways and I am proud to say I am finally cavity free and my gums are back in good health. I highly recommend Riverpoint Family Dentistry. Update: while I wish to keep my previous experience updated, I would also like to revise my rating based upon the dentistry’s response to my concerns. I have since seen Dr. Snyder several times as he has been treating my failed fillings and residual cavities. The staff has been supportive and Dr. Snyder has been reliable and trustworthy, and he’s even helped my dental anxiety decrease. My only word of caution is to ask for Dr. Snyder and avoid Dr. Newsome unless you’re not afraid of dentists and are seeping money from your pores… Thank you to the staff and to Dr. Snyder for giving me the care I need while also being compassionate. I plan to continue my care at Riverpoint for the time being. I gave this place 3 stars because it is hit or miss and greatly depends on which staff members you work with. Dr. Snyder has been a careful and supportive force in my dental health journey. However, Dr. Newsome, who owns the place, is as good with patients as a screen door on a submarine. After a 3-month periodontal maintenance cleaning, Dr. Snyder was not working that day so Dr. Newsome came in to share his findings from a brief examination. He said “bummer” multiple times while evaluating my mouth, and then told me I need something like 4 crowns and all kinds of crazy work. Whether or not this is accurate, he should have made note of it and told me he’d like to consult with the doctor that I already have rapport with before bombarding me with the notion of thousands of dollars worth of work. To add salt to the wound, he told me that they will no longer accept Medicaid in the next 6 months or so because they don’t pay enough and that “this is a business”. While I understand that they need to make money, if a medical doctor told me they wouldn’t be seeing me because they don’t get enough money from me, I would run for the hills. It’s one thing if we are talking about cosmetics, but here we were talking about my dental HEALTH, not aesthetic. The following Monday, I spoke with someone named Christine who was very understanding and asked if I would feel comfortable continuing care with Dr. Snyder. Because it had been difficult to build a trusting relationship with a dentist, I agreed. About 30 minutes later, someone else called and basically defended Dr. Newsome’s findings, stating that a comprehensive exam hadn’t been done on me since last November. While Christine took ownership and was compassionate about the situation, the next person that called was not. This office is divided and their care is hit or miss. Do not go to Dr. Newsome unless you’re ready to take out a second mortgage. If Dr. Snyder leaves the practice, I will either follow him to a new facility or find care elsewhere. This country is already backwards enough when it comes to oral healthcare. I don’t need the professionals themselves doubling down and making it that much worse. And, for the record, since Dr. Newsome felt it was appropriate to insinuate judgment over my being on Medicaid, I’ll have it known that I am a single mother putting myself through grad school so that I can have the means to make a better life. Shame on him for basically telling me that poor people don’t deserve good dental health. This is the reason so many avoid dentists. My gum health has otherwise improved since going there and I’m hopeful that I can continue to get my dental health back on track. As if I hadn’t already had enough dental trauma, Dr. Newsome eagerly added to the laundry list of why many people like me are so hesitant about visiting the dentist.

Fantastic experience: They open super early and I like that today I had the wrong date my appt. I was supposed to be in next week. Thankfully they still received me! I am utmost carful for them fitting me in today. She knew I was embarrassed for making the mistake and she said as long as you’re here let’s get you in!!!! 100% accommodated me. Fantastic experience: My hygienist is the best I have ever had, she does a thorough job and explains everything, plus she is very kind and helpful explaining everything I need to know. I have never had a hygienist as good as her.

Negative experience: I called in the morning saying I wouldn't be able to make it on time. They explained that after 15 minutes there would be a fee. I specifically asked should I reschedule. She says oh no just get here as close to the time of appointment as you can. I explained my situation and side of town that I lived on. So I get there 45 minutes past my time which was already discussed and now I have the supervisor come out and drill me about being late. Listen to the call chick! To be a supervisor you need people skills.

Fantastic experience: Update: February 2024. I broke a tooth. Even though the office is busy and a full schedule, they fit me in. The entire process was efficient. They spent time discussing the different solutions and kept me informed. I felt comfortable and was confident I had the best help. Thank Dr Synder and Rose. You two were great and I appreciate everything you did for me. Including squeezing me into your busy schedule. Update: February 2023 Had a filling replaced. Fast, efficient, and cost effective. They were able to get me in and do the filling in record time. Thank you. Update: July 2021 Always great experience. Safe, Friendly, Helpful. I like coming here for my dental work. Convenient. And everyone is so professional. Update: October 2019 I love this dentist office. Caring, kind, thoughtful and fun. They take care of you. And are gentle about it. Plus they are into Halloween. That is cool. Update: Dec 2018 Again I had a great experience.This appointment was routine but I never feel routine. They take good care of me and follow up is exceptional. I highly recommend. Plus they take my insurance. I had a great experience. It is never good to have a tooth repaired, but I was taken care in a gentle and kind way. Thank you for being my dentist in ABQ.

Negative experience: I'd write a review lower than one star if possible I absolutely do not recommend this dental office to any young adult. Only one of the receptionists was professional and acted courteous. The other one was absolutely rude and unprofessional in every way possible as well as dismissive and condescending. As someone who's worked this exact job before Calling me babe just because I'm a young woman is absolutely unprofessional and inappropriate for the work place. I felt looked down on the moment I stepped into the office.

Negative experience: I had a disappointing experience at this office as a young adult patient. Even though I am 19 and fully capable of handling my own healthcare, they made comments implying I still needed my parents. Later, instead of calling me to schedule a follow-up, they contacted my father, and when he told them to speak with me directly, they asked for my mother's number instead. This was unprofessional and dismissive. If you're a young adult looking for a dentist who will actually respect you as a patient, I wouldn't recommend this office.

Fantastic experience: Had a good experience with check in receptionist. She was smiley and friendly. The hygienist Marlene was so professional and skilled cleaning my teeth and getting xrays. It had been a while and she did a great job! There is a special promotion and the price was great!

Fantastic experience: I just got a cleaning this time from Shauna. She is very informative, meticulous, and careful about my sensitive teeth. I feel that I am in good hands at Riverpoint. If you don’t get a spectacular view out the window, you get a beautiful Power Point screen of nature to relax by plus being made to feel very comfortable in the chair. I have had 4 crowns and 2 fillings over the past 3 years and so far so good!!! I recommend this dentist office with their wonderful staff! I must add Dr. Snyder did my last 2 crowns and he was wonderful in all aspects!

Positive experience: Nice hygienists. They're billing dept is a little wonky. They waited more than 6 months to bill me for s co-pay. I think was an error by the insurance Co. But it's too late to fixit now. They did a great job and gave me a break on my 3 implants.

Fantastic experience: What an amazing dental office I’ve been going here for over 15 years. I would not trust any other dental office for my dental needs. There detail to cleanliness professionalism friendly staff is over the top. They set a very high bar on taking the best care of you. And they always go above and beyond! Not many can say they love there dental office. But I can. I always look forward to my appointment! They just remodeled and it is looking amazing.

Negative experience: Although Dr. Newsome and his office assistants and dental assistants are usually personable and kind, Dr. Snyder and the dental assistant I experienced today were not. Being dismissive and rude toward a patient who is concerned for her mouth pain and tooth pain before she leaves to another location for a few years is not a way to keep a lifetime patient. I don’t know if I will go back if Dr. Snyder doesn’t improve his bedside manner, and if my problems are not addressed in a less dismissive way. Thank you. Good luck to any patients who challenge Dr. Snyder’s conclusions since he thinks he knows everything.

Fantastic experience: WONDERFUL experience at this dentist upon my first visit. I’ve been looking for a great family dentist for years. Previously was at TrueCare and it was a horrible one, quick in/out corporate facility. But Riverpoint is officially where I’ll be staying. The application process to request an appointment was easy. They were able to accept my insurance. And I was flabbergasted that they got me in before Christmas and within a week. I feel horrible I cannot remember my hygienist’s name, I want to say Jordan? She was fantastic! Very thorough with cleaning, made the X-rays go quickly, educated me on care for my personal needs. But the absolute cherry on top was when the Doctor said he’d smooth down my chipped tooth that had been causing me discomfort for months in a matter of minutes. Truly grateful he and the other ladies resolved that for me. They’re remodeling right now but it’s no inconvenience. From the first call to the final goodbye it was a very comfortable experience. My husband was scheduled the next day and also thrilled with it. Thank you team for taking care of us!

Fantastic experience: Very impressed with the attention and care I got at Riverpoint. I had an infection in a gum, and didn't want to have a holiday crisis so a friend recommended I call Riverpoint. They squeezed me into a very tight schedule, last minute,, took an x-ray and Dr. Snyder took the time to detail treatment options even though I was not a regular patient. I've been looking for a private practice for some time, (not a chain or franchise), so I was very pleased to schedule a full evaluation in the weeks to come. I highly recommend Riverpoint to anyone looking for a reliable and professional dental practice.

Negative experience: Okay, I updated this review to 5 stars, however, Dr. Newsome recommended I get two crowns at once, which I did. I have so much food stuck in between the two new crowns. I left a bad review initially, you'd think they would do the right thing. The crowns are now just collecting food, and fixing this is problematic. Please find another dentist. I gave the benefit of the doubt, talked at length with Dr. Newsome, and thought we agreed, now I'm back in the same situation where I can't chew, and more importantly, food gets stuck. This is not the dentist if you want problems fixed!

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit to this dental office and I was extremely pleased. Our Dentist moved out of State a year ago at Ivory Dental and it was bought by someone and we gave it a year, were really not impressed with the new dentist and the billing office. One of the dental hygienist Sally who had been with the other Dentist had stayed and she was excellent but it was time to find a new place for dental care. Researched and was impressed with the online presence of this dental office and when I called was impressed and pleased with the customer service so made an appt. The dental hygieniest was pleasant, knowledgeable and thorough and I saw Dr Parsons who did a great initial exam and said all looked good and he would see me next time. I felt they cared, were knowledgeable and they weren't just looking to see what they could do in order to bill my insurance. I was thoroughly impressed and their receptionists, billing folks and schedulers were all again pleasant and knowlegeable. I love the culture that I felt at Riverpoint and would highly recommend them.
