Fantastic experience: I think is the best pediatric dentist I ever visited, all workers are clean, me and my kids enjoy every dentist appointment.

Negative experience: Not good at all. My daughter went last week and they told her she had three cavities, instead of making an appointment sooner or fixing at least one of them then that day, they make her an appointment for September of next year?!?! Makes you wonder if they’re just going to let them get bad enough to where she needs a root canal and they can make more money We live an hour away and we drove all that way, just for them to tell her that she has cavities

Negative experience: Annual cleaning appts scheduled every 6 months and it never fails the week of the appt, the office will call and need to cancel our appt and the next available isn’t for another 2-3 months. My daughter is 8 years old and been coming here since she was about 3 years old. I’ve never been happy with the quality of care she’s received here. It just seems like an assembly line and there’s no bedside manner by the providers. I’d have to agree with another review that stated she felt like TennCare patients were treated differently/dismissed. I declined to reschedule the appt they called to cancel (no reason given) and will be looking for my daughter another dentist. Do not recommend.

Positive experience: Today, I drove an hour to the best pediatric dentistry that we have had for the past 7 years now. I pull up to the parking lot and no cars were there. I get to the door and they’re closed. I had a confirmation of my child’s appointment. So, I am not sure why we couldn’t have been notified of the sudden closure.

Fantastic experience: Staff is so friendly and patient with my son. They make him feel comfortable and he wasn’t scared at all.

Negative experience: I would Not recommend!!! My Grand daughter had to spend her Fall break in terrible pain all week. The Nurse did 5 fillings and was only suppose to do 3 . This child was in pain and they had to send her to a specialist today after a visit to Children's due to one of the fillings being over packed on her Nerve!! In that causing her severe pain and No relief!!!! They did NOTHING TO HELP WITH THIS !!! VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!!

Fantastic experience: We have been using Knoxville Pediatric Dentistry-Bearden since 2020 and love it. Staff is always friendly. They work well with my 2 year old who sometimes have a hard time and doesn’t want them looking in his mouth but they are very patient with him, don’t make him lay down, and very caring!

Fantastic experience: I had previously taken our daughter to a few unfriendly pediatric dentist offices. Now that I’ve found Knoxville Pediatric dentistry, she will go nowhere else . They even make fillings comfortable for the most uncomfortable situations! Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Elliot was such a great help. My 4 year old daughter was scared and acting up and she really calmed her down and got her teeth cleaned. The dentist was super great with her also. Highly recommend this place.

Negative experience: Im not one to leave bad reviews but this needs to be known!! Maddie the Front office person is great, very Respectful and willing to help and The Dr. not sure his name he is wonderful as well but the ones that clean the teeth, im not happy with! but we went back for our 2nd visit to this office and my Daughter had a few cavities on the front, very small but still there (more than likely from a pacifier) but we are supposed to go back soon to get them fixed but for the time being they put some kind of paste on them just til they can get us back in well the paste they used turned my daughters front teeth Black and they are supposed to use the paste that turns them white well they didn't! Im very upset over this! So be aware what they are using!

Negative experience: I don’t ever leave negative reviews because I believe everyone has bad day….but this review is necessary. Dr. Townsend is unbelievably rude and horrible with children. Particularly special needs children. My son is level 3 autistic and I advised the dental assistants multiple times that he wouldn’t let the dentist in his mouth but my pediatrician recommended at least taking him to the dentist to get used to going in and ease him into the process. I guess the assistants didn’t pass the message along because Dr. Townsend was very irate about my son not letting him look in his mouth. He left me feeling humiliated and my son more afraid of the dentist than ever. I thought to myself that maybe he (the dentist) was just having a bad day and that I’d try again at my next appointment and see if he was nicer.But at the next appointment, Dr. Townsend was just as angry as ever. So I decided to leave his practice and when I called to cancel our next appointment the lady on the phone told me that he gets complained on left and right for being horrible to children. This guy has a serious complex that he takes out on his staff and patients, please go somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking my son who is on the spectrum here for 8 years. They have the friendliest staff. No plans on going elsewhere.

Negative experience: I am not one to typically leave bad reviews… but this needs attention. My kids have been going to this location for nearly a decade. I’ve always had nothing but pleasant interactions here. That is until the VERY bizarre one that I had there today… the dental assistant (she was a very sweet black lady but I didn’t catch her name) veered towards topics of conversation that were entirely inappropriate while my son was laying on the table getting his teeth cleaned before and after his two fillings. Every time the dentist would leave the room, she would turn and talk to me, which was fine, but the things she started discussing out of nowhere were WILDLY inappropriate to be said in front of a nervous 9 year old at the dentist. She started out discussing Hulk Hogan and how racist he was, then veered towards Ozzy Osborne and was telling me about how he died by assisted suicide, then she told me about how her uncle is schizophrenic and her son is autistic and told me about how he was in a mental crisis and was hurting himself, which then had her discussing the time she caught someone huffing spray paint in a tree… which THEN led her to start talking about how schizophrenic people often use drugs to self medicate but will often turn homicidal because of it. She was talking about people getting their throats slit and people getting shot… She then started discussing how sometimes schizophrenia is just demonic possession and that the soul needs to be cleansed and that demon possession often manifests as mental illness. She was speaking so fast I could barely keep up and this is just the tip of the iceberg of some of the extremely weird things that were said in front of my child. I came home and immediately told my husband about how uncomfortable I was by the entire interaction. He urged me to notify the dental office but I don’t want to be the reason someone loses their job. Especially because she really WAS very kind and my son said he liked her a lot. But you do NOT discuss suicide, murder, drugs, demons, or schizophrenia in a setting with young children, PERIOD. My son was under nitrous oxide so maybe that’s why she felt comfortable saying the things she did, but… She needs to make sure she doesn’t speak like that in front of children OR their parents ever again. I was hesitant to post this because I don’t want anyone to be fired but I have thought about it all day long and cannot stand the thought of her speaking like that in front of someone else’s child, let alone mine.

Positive experience: I like this dentist alot . great with kids, and they all care bout the children. One thing could improve is if your child needs dental work done shouldn't have to wait as long as 2 yrs before they get to your child .

Fantastic experience: They was Awesome with my Artistic 5 year old!❤️ love them! They got him not be scared of the gas mask by putting bluey stickers on it and they get to pick a movie to watch while doc talks to mom and keep me posted during surgery. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Fantastic experience: I love this office. Parents are allowed to stay with their kids (an absolute must for me), the staff is wonderful. The drs are so gentle and patient. I appreciate the whole office working together to create great dental experiences for kids!

Positive experience: Interactions with staff were good. However, child was in the chair for over an hour to get one small filling taken care of. Well more than normal or necessary. This is after having to deal with the fact that the earliest appointment after identification of the cavity was nearly 6 months out, including having the original May appointment cancelled and rescheduled.

Fantastic experience: First visit for my special needs grandson to Knoxville Pediatric Center. They were awesome with him. Definitely found his dentist since moving to Knoxville!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Townsend and all the staff and great. They take the time to explain the procedure and tools to the kids and were super speedy with a cavity feeling which is extra appreciated for wiggly kids.

Negative experience: The first appointment we had, we were told my daughter had to be scheduled for anesthesia to put fillings on her teeth. We were told it would be april-may area, that time frame passed then we were told December-January. I have had to leave messages and call multiple times, always ending with no actual info or help. The woman I talked to last said she would send me an email with a list of places that could help and I never received anything. Just because someone has tenncare doesn't mean that they don't deserve the same help as those who don't. We won't be coming back and will be finding a better place where my child will be taken care of.

Negative experience: Staff is always rude especially when calling for appointments. Do not recommend Dr. Townsend, especially if you have a child with special needs. He lacks bedside manner and patience; he seems annoyed at having to do anything.

Fantastic experience: This was our son's first trip to the dentist. He is only 10 months old, so we tried to make him comfortable. Everyone was wonderful, they let him play, and the exam was quick. I would definitely recommend them.

They went above and beyond to make my children feel comfortable and at ease, which made the whole visit stress-free for all of us. It’s clear they truly care about their patients. Negative experience: I had an appointment. Got a reminder a month before. Thought it was strange I got nothing the week or day before, but that’s not my responsibility. Going to the appointment is my responsibility, so I was going. Load up all four kids and drive there, which is about 20 minutes from home. Closed. It was a Thursday during business hours. I triple checked my appointment time. Google said they should be open. Called and left a message—nothing. Then, the next morning I got a “how was your experience email” confirming the fact that I was supposed to have had an appointment. I’m confused and disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Love,love this place. The staff are all so kind and understanding. The dentist is so so good with the kids I've had the pleasure of seeing him with them. My 3 year old grandson talks about him for at least a weak after we take him. Awesome place.

Fantastic experience: We loved our first visit! The entire staff treated our daughter so nicely, that was so special and important to us. They even gave our baby, who was not being seen, a bag and balloon. So sweet. We are definitely making this our permanent dentist for both of our daughters

Negative experience: This is my three-year-old’s first cleaning, and they actually made it fun for her! She has been bragging about how much fun it was at the dentist. She said her favorite part was “when she brushed my teeth.” *shocked mama here* Also, we declined fluoride, and they gave us absolutely no heartache which is a big deal, since that can’t be said for every dentist. We do come on weekday mornings, but we never have any wait, and everyone is always really nice and professional. She was called a princess, got to play with toys, watch wreck it Ralph during the cleaning, given a new princess toothbrush of her choice, and a toy and balloon to take home. Without going into detail, I would like to edit my review to say we now attend a different dentist, and while they do have a fantastic manner with children at this dentist, I was not happy with the way they handled some of my children’s dental needs. This was over Covid, but the way I was spoken to, and the way my children’s teeth were handled, etc. was unacceptable. I’m only just now coming back to update this review as I looked through my Google reviews and had forgotten I had left this one. I would encourage caution around this practice if your children have enamel hypoplasia.

Fantastic experience: Great staff. They really know how to make it not so scary for the kids. They talked to my daughter in terms she understood. Very friendly and informative. I have no complaints. After my daughter woke up from her surgery the nurse told me I could wait as long as I needed till I’m comfortable to leave with her. I don’t remember her name but she was very compassionate and I’ll never forget her. Also, the doctor was very informative and asked me multiple times if I have any questions. He came out before and after surgery to talk to me. I couldn’t have asked for a better group

Fantastic experience: The staff was all so patient and understanding with my daughters (it was their first time at a dentist). I’m happy they’re able to look forward to seeing the dentist now.

Positive experience: Dental assistant and other technicians were extremely helpful and kind. Dentist was slightly less so. Very in a hurry and didn’t seem interested in talking or answering questions. Overall still a good place for kids.

Positive experience: I think Dr. Townsend is great. However, my daughter initially got rescheduled for her dentist appointment twice - on their end, not mine. Then when she went for her first appointment they only saw one cavity which personally in my opinion, they should have went ahead and did x-rays. They scheduled her for a fill and then when we got to this appointment I wanted them to look at a spot in between her teeth that looked like a cavity. They did the x-rays this time and found more cavities which I feel like should have been done in her initial appointment so that we could go ahead and get her scheduled to get her teeth fixed. So they didn’t fill her one cavity because she wouldn’t keep the laughing gas on which makes sense. They said because of her age she would need to be put to sleep so that they could get everything done in one sitting. Which was also fine, except when I went to schedule this appointment they told me it would be a YEAR AND A HALF wait! Which was absolutely insane to me. You would think they would prioritize situations like these. But a whole year and a half is crazy. Anyways, they did refer me to a different dentist which they got my daughter in the same day I called and got her in for the procedure for next month.

Negative experience: This whole practice is a JOKE. We started out at Tazewell Pike Clinic. Loved it. They shut down that office due to staffing issues. moved us to Bearden Location. We were seen there a few times and then had a filling appt and they canceled my daughters appt for a cavity stating that they aren't in network with my insurance anymore at the Bearden Location but the Tazewell pike one is on my insurance. called there to get back in that office and they told me "i cannot switch locations" YOU GUYS MOVED MY LOCATION THE 1ST TIME DUE TO STAFFING ISSUES! I asked to speak to an office manager NO ONE called me back. but then they want to call me 7 months later and ask if i want to come in for a cleaning?? You guys need to get your stuff together.

Fantastic experience: The staff were very nice. We hadn't gone in a while because my insurance ran out but my daughter(11) had a really bad cavity. They went above and beyond to check her teeth. They even worked with me on cost s because I was paying out of pocket for everything. Awesome place

Fantastic experience: Always a good experience. Gets you in, the assistants are great and the doctors are great! My little guy is 5 and he took the Litacain injection and crown placement like a champ! That wouldn’t be possible though with out the great staff!

Negative experience: Very disappointment with the service we received from Bo Townsend. He was short with us and made little to no effort to interact with our 4 yr old son. Seemed obviously annoyed with our questions and concerns and had very little patience and consideration. We felt very rushed each visit. The rest of the staff was lovely with our son and did their job well. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend.

Fantastic experience: All of the staff are super sweet & friendly! Anytime we are there they make my children feel safe & comfortable while reassuring them & getting on their level all while walking them through any procedure or the next steps with lots of patience if need! They are also very thorough & keep me updated with what is going on & what is best for my children to also help me to know & feel comfortable with them. Always a pleasant experience from the staff, it’s very nice to trust such amazing medical professionals!

Fantastic experience: Today my son asked me why we drive so far to go to the dentist. I said, "We know these people are good and it's worth it to drive farther to have a good Dentist." He said, "This is a good Dentist." He has had a very painful and traumatic experience at a Pediatric Dentistry in Maryville a couple years ago and he trusts the dentists and everyone at Knoxville Pediatric Dentistry in Bearden.

Fantastic experience: Very caring and compassionate, and willing to work with our schedule for school and outside activities; always polite and smiling; felt like our dentists and hygienists were all efficient and intelligent, and doing their best!! Actually, one of my little friends passed away from a medical issue, and this very kind dental office reached out with a personal card and wonderful, likely expensive gift box of goodies for his older sister who had also been a patient there before becoming too old to continue in this office. We know they prayed for this family!

Fantastic experience: Elliott was great!! My daughter has her teeth cleaned today and I had my grandson Sampson with me. He was so fascinated when Elliot was brushing my daughter 's teeth and he litterly was leaning in so much the water from the brush was spraying on him, but the best part she let him continue to watch. Great job Elliot!

Fantastic experience: Great communication from the dentist. They listen to the kids and have shown patience when my son refused to get a spacer removed. Them not pushing him lead to him trusting the dentist and now we have now he is more willing to allow them to do what is needed.

Fantastic experience: We love Knoxville Pediatric Dentistry - Bearden!!!!!! We are fairly new still and have gone three times. Once because my daughter was experiencing some tooth pain. I called they got me in same day and we didn’t even have to wait long for her to be checked in. We were in and out so quick. The hygienists - just the SWEETEST ever!!!!! Front desk assistants are warm and welcoming! The Doctors - so patient and gentle with the littles!!! We’ve had very good experiences every time and we hope to keep Knoxville Pediatric Dentistry - Bearden our home dentist for a long time!

Negative experience: Dental hygienist didn't act like she'd ever worked with kids before, especially not a little one. Too many patients scheduled at the same time and only one dentist. Simple cleanings and check ups took way too long.

Fantastic experience: Best Dentist in town! Friendly atmosphere! Clean! Lauren cleaned my daughter’s teeth and made her feel so special. She was calm and sweet and really gave my daughter the best experience. Marianna was so nice and accommodating to my schedule when trying to make our next appointment. Positive experience: The Dental staff were wonderful! They made sure my child was comfortable and was calm during the procedure and the dentist himself was very gentle. I have no complaints there! The office staff however is not that great. It took 5 months to schedule my child’s tooth removal and on top of that they scheduled the tooth removal and to get a cap done all in the same day. The Dental Assistant said they aren’t supposed to do that and also explained it unfortunately happens too often. So now we had to reschedule. The Dental Assistant came up front with me to make sure they scheduled us 6 weeks out and didn’t mess around. They definitely need more training and better communication with the dental staff!
