Negative experience: I am halfway through the process of dental implants and left the office today scared for the first time. I was promised they would work with me through the whole process to ensure I would be included in the process of making sure my implants looked as natural to my real teeth as possible including color. My second set is grey in appearance and bottom looks nothing like what was approved. Very “fake” in appearance compared to original plan. Very disappointed and they were unwilling to re-do bottom because it was not permanent set. This varies greatly from my original consultation and assurance that I would be included in every decision about the “look” . This is a big, big financial decision and once they have your money I am afraid their attitudes and treatment does a 360. Shocking. At this point I feel helpless and completely not included in the process anymore. I knew something was out of line today when I was not even shown the implants beforehand and the dental assistant’s first words when I got the mirror was about the color difference. My heart went to my feet when I opened and smiled. My bottom implants are all over the place and uneven. I compared to look of my last they just took out and they were nothing alike in appearance. I am still shocked at the unwillingness to re-do bottom at a $44,000 price tag. There should have been no hesitation if I was not satisfied. I am taking away the feeling that because it was only going to be a 6 week turnover that I should not be worrying and make due. This is 6 weeks of Holiday time where you want to smile freely without people noticing and biting my lip constantly. Please take your time and really get those answers and assurances before spending your money. I wish I had got more assurances on paper.

Fantastic experience: I have never met a better dental team ... from the staff to Dr. Malone, they set the bar for what that experience should be. I can't put into words how good they have been not only to me, but also how they care for my son. The front office staff are warm and welcoming; the hygienists and dentists are exceptional in their care for patients. I never want to go anywhere else!

Fantastic experience: Just moved to East TN from North VA where we had already experienced EMS GBT Airflow for our cleanings, as such had already narrowed our desired dental team to Knoxville Smiles. However we had not begun that transition to a new dentist. As Murphy would have it I had a dental emergency. K'ville Smiles was able to get me the VERY next day - would have been same day except I was on the way back from vacation. Team was the most caring and diligent I have ever dealt with - look no further. And if you don't understand why we insist on EMS GBT Airflow from our new dental provider - search it, once you experience it you will never let a hygienist put a pick axe in your mouth again!

Fantastic experience: My first visit with the hygienist and Dr Malone went smoothly. The new cleaning technique was painless. I will be doing some more extensive follow up procedures that have me excited to finally get answers. —Back for my third appt and it was just as great. I was impressed with how easily xrays were done with a handheld machine, videos of animals playing, soothing water teeth cleaning. In and out in 50 minutes. A joy!

Fantastic experience: This place basically cured my fear of the dentist. I couldn’t sleep because of tooth pain the last two nights. Ended up getting an emergency tooth pull and the crew was fully transparent with everything that was going on. I learned a ton of interesting things, and I was in and out of there within a hour and left with no pain. Thankful I found my new dentist.

Fantastic experience: i had to make a last minute appointment for a broken tooth, which i didn’t realize would turn into a dental surgery/extraction and implant. every person on the staff who was part of my experience was excellent. dr. costa took the time to explain things to me before my surgery, he was patient and kind and talked me through the parts i was nervous about, answered all my questions and was so positive. his assistant, whose name i can’t remember (i’m sorry!) was the sweetest as well. she told me each step she was about to take before she did it, gave me encouragement throughout the parts of my surgery i was awake for (right before sedation, and coming off of it after), answered any questions i had and was super friendly and kind. they both made a huge impact on my experience and made me feel very well taken care of, not just another person in their chair. i am very, very glad i picked knoxville smiles.

Fantastic experience: I got in quickly. Staff professional. Dr Malone did an excellent job repairing my broken tooth. He talked me through what he was going to do & exceeded my expectations. I immediately transferred my dental records from a practice where I’d been for 25 years.

Negative experience: I will give them two Stars for keeping the appointment on time. I’m not sure how the space gets five stars. The doctor and staff, they seem polite and knowledgeable, but I went in with a toothache and an infected root. Most of my 30 minute appointment was the doctor trying to upsell me on a treatment plan. I walked out of there with a tree complaint for $45,000. I am retired and on a fixed income, and I made them aware of that. The doctors may be good, but it is obvious to me that the best interest is not in the patient, but they are more focused on the Almighty Dollar That’s an expensive toothache to repair, And to make matters worse, I was in severe pain didn’t sleep all night, and the doctor would not give me anything for pain.

Fantastic experience: I initially went to Knoxville Smiles because of I broke my tooth and it was causing pain. They open at 7:30 which is very convenient. The staff is very friendly and the dentists are wonderful. They explained the treatment plan and procedure thoroughly. I recently had the molar extracted and went through the first step in receiving my new implant. Absolutely the best experience I have ever had at a dentist office in my life. I would very highly recommend them. Oh, and they are also very knowledgeable about Temporomandibular Joint Disorder.

Fantastic experience: I DETEST going to the dentist! Years of horrible experiences when l was a young girl, truly traumatized me, so consequently l delay and postpone, until things are way worse than they should be. A couple of times l found dental offices that do sedation dentistry, but either we would move, or the dentist would quit providing that service..so again, l'd look at that as a good opportunity just to forget about the whole thing. Stupid, l know, but honest, nonetheless. Things had gotten bad enough that l knew l really had to get serious and find someone l trusted, that would TRY to take the insurance we have (which in and of itself is another pain!) But, after searching l found Knoxville Smiles, and Dr. Costa. My first encounter with the office was with the receptionist, Wendy, via a phone call, and she was so sweet, and so understanding, never once making me feel like l was ridiculous for feeling like l do, and delaying things as long as I had. I made the appointment, and went in to the office, with nerves high! Wendy met me, was so comforting and kind, and promised to check on me during my appointment..which she absolutely did! Then l was passed over to Lauren, one of the hygienists who works with Dr. Costa. She got some Xrays on me, (which is another task as l have ridiculous gag reflexes!) She too, was kind and understanding, and never made me feel anything but safe. And finally, Dr. Costa. He too was just wonderful to work with. Never made me feel bad about my lack of dental care, and just wanted to find a way to make me as comfortable as l can be, given my extreme fear of dental work.. and that brings me to today. I am three visits into my plan. First visit filled cavities, and a deep clean. Second visit was two teeth extracted, bone grafts placed, and the today for stitch removal and a check to make sure everything is good to proceed. By mid December one side of my mouth will be fixed, and then after the first of the year, we'll work on the other side, with the same treatment for that. I WANT to have good dental hygiene, l WANT to not break out in a sweat when l think about needing things done, and honestly, l feel like Knoxville Smiles, and ALL the people who work there is the dental clinic that can make this happen for me. I will not be a patient who can have dental work done without sedation, but l am the person who can say with 100% confidence that THESE are the people who will take care of me! If you're a person like l am, who would rather do ANY medical procedure than dental work, then l STRONGLY urge you to call these people! Talk to Wendy, let her eliminate your fears, then let the rest of the team work their magic. You won't be sorry..PROMISE!!

Positive experience: I normally give this practice five stars--and I hope I'll be able to again next time--but, right now, the administrative communication and billing is an issue. And I can't seem to reach a real person by email or text to share my concerns directly. Hoping this will get someone's attention as they really are a great team otherwise!!!

Fantastic experience: Daughter had a minor dental "emergency" on her way to move in for college. We randomly called them as it was on the way to her school...and actually open on a Friday. Fantastic experience: I recently had a back tooth extracted under conscious sedation by Dr. Costa. It was quick and easy with zero pain during and after the procedure. No one wants to have a tooth pulled, but if you have to, this is a great place to go. Highly recommend Knoxville Smiles.

The doctor was very thorough on a plan to make my smile look natural and not like dentures, which is my biggest fear . Since it is a substantial investment , and you want it to look right , you need to feel comfortable that the doctor is listening to your concerns . I think this was addressed thoroughly and he listened to me . Now just working out the logistics of staying overnight , since it would be impossible to do this without an overnight stay . He also gave me suggestions on that aspect . I was very pleased with the consultation and I am comfortable with the idea that this has to take an extended time to get to your final result . Fantastic experience: Came for a consultation for missing teeth. First Impression everyone I dealt with on the phone was professional and knowledgeable. Hard to find these days. Then arriving at the office it was clean and just had a great all around vibe. Met with Dr Costa and did a preliminary X-ray. Then he spent the time to explain my options and answer any questions I had. You can tell when someone is actually engaged with you or just going through the motions. He was fully engaged and excited about what we talked about. Also very confident as well which put me at ease. Confident not cocky I should emphasize which is also hard to find these days. You can truly tell he loves what he does and helping people feel confident in their own smiles. Fantastic experience: Can’t say enough good things about Dr. Malone … just had crowns replaced for all my uppers (previous ones done by another office/dentist), and for the first time I can smile big with confidence! All the staff here are top notch - Wendy is by far the best patient care coordinator and the first to demonstrate genuine care from the moment I walk in. Negative experience: The dentist seemed great! However, the girl that spoke to me about the financials was not helpful and didn’t seem very knowledgeable. Very off putting experience. I unfortunately didn’t get any work done based off this interaction.

Fantastic experience: Had my teeth cleaned by Izabela using the AirFlow machine, and it was a total game-changer! She was gentle, thorough, and made the whole experience surprisingly relaxing. No scraping or discomfort—just a deep clean that left my teeth smooth, fresh, and visibly brighter. Highly recommend Izabela and the AirFlow treatment!

Dr. Malone treated my tooth with such care, pain-free, and used the newest technology. Tammy and Missy are so kind and accommodating. I would highly recommend Dr Malone and his office.
