Gentle Dental in Queens

Negative experience: I really don't understand how a good cleaning can result in zero blood being spit out. I know I have poor gums so no amount of sucking devices should have made that happen. Just saying.. I can't stand when hygienists go "easy" just to charge you for a deep cleaning every few years. You guys insisted on the rating! Im really sorry, just being honest.

The office has a welcoming atmosphere.The staff are very professional.The Dentist is really gentle, no pain,& no discomfort He's a miracle worker& knows his craft & nice personality. The office location is ideal: convenient to shopping, parking available & ADA accessible.

Fantastic experience: I previously gave a 1 star because of a situation that occurred during a visit. At the end of the day, I knew that this was proberly one of the best Dentist I've seen in a long time and the best hygienist I've ever had. I had 2 good one dentist that retired. I went to a couple others, well I'm going back! You know they must be good because I live out of state(smile)

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Gentle Dental in Queens. The office was clean and spacious, no overcrowding. The staff was amazing. They were friendly, polite and professional. State of the art equipment was used to illustrate how goals can be achieved. They explained my issues in a clear way and they executed the procedure in a timely manner. I left feeling good about the experience and would recommend Gentle Dental to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Usually it's a very good experience. But after I had a implant done with a bridge because it was always getting infected because I could not get in between the teeth to clean so the doctor who put the implants in took them out and said I would have to get them done again. And it would cost me again. I felt that this wasn't right

Negative experience: I made an appointment on the phone over one month ago. I asked if they accepted Delta Dental Dc37 and they told me yes. I went ahead and made the appointment. She said she'd call if I had a copay which I did not question because sometimes I do have one but it is very reasonable. I never received a call so I called 3 days prior and asked if I owe'd anything and to confirm my appointment. The person then tells me I owe 176$ each person that was coming to the appointment. She told me they accept the insurance but they are not in network and i'd have to pay a percentage. The person who helped me make this appointment over 1 month ago should've told me this and failed to. Very upsetting because I wanted to come to this office with all the good reviews I saw online.

Fantastic experience: The caring staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. They gave me a quick tour of the office and introduced me to a lot of of the doctors and hygienist. I was offered a free consultation and the technician that worked with me that took my x-rays was an absolute delight. I have already booked my next appointment with them before I even left the office. They are my new dentist now.

Fantastic experience: First of all, the office is absolutely beautiful and state of the art. Extremely progressive! I was there today for an emergency root canal and Dr. Gelfand was Amazing! No pain or discomfort during the procedure and left the office with hardly any discomfort. Everyone is very professional and extremely nice, they make sure you’re comfortable and really know what they’re doing. I am the worst patient when it comes to any dental work due to Anxiety and just hate having to get dental work done. . If I can say after having a root canal that it was an amazing experience, you know they are excellent! I highly recommend them!

We have had everything from cleanings to major dental work done and very pleased with everything they have performed They always treat us like family. I’ve been seen other dentist regularly every six months but I realize that I didn’t have the right care.. I thank my son and my nephew to recommend Gentle Dental. Negative experience: I would have given this assembly-line type of dentistry a zero if that was an option!...I had my front teeth splintered here about 3 weeks ago, to the tune of $500. About a week ago, the splint cracked , became loose and very uncomfortable in my mouth! I went back yesterday and found out that the dentist who worked on me initally was not there, but another dentist would be able to help me! I was ushered into an exam room with a TV on very loud! The technician insisted on taking another x-ray, even though I just had a full-set 3 weeks ago! I get it...more money! lol..... Finally the dentist came in ( I'm assuming this guy was a dentist, but who knows!)...I explained that I had just had work done recently, and asked him to tighten the split and smooth out the rough edges...HE REFUSED, telling me that I needed to get my teeth cleaned first before he would do any work...again, I asked him to just readjust the splint that I had just paid $500 for, and again he flat out refused! ARE YOU KIDDING ME or WHAT...I must have been in some-kind of parallel universe!...more money! lol. I have been in business for over 35 years, always making sure my customers are satisfied with my services!...Obviously, this urgent-care type "get them in and get them out" mentality, as well as I'll help you if you spend more money was on full-display! IS THIS PLACE FOR REAL Anyway, If your looking for a money-oriented business, shoddy dentistry and lousy service, then this is the place for you!...lol...Yale R. Tockerman

Negative experience: Usually this office is really good in just about every aspect, but yesterday’s visit was awful. I arrived 15 minutes early. I was put into a room right around my appointment time and then sat there for 45 minutes without a single person coming into the room. I then had to wait another 20 minutes until I was seen by a dr. The cleaning only took 15 minutes. That office has gone really far downhill. What a shame.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Dr. Gelfand and the kind and caring staff of Gentle Dental at 35-30 Francis Lewis Blvd. The procedures have been painless for me. Dr. Gelfand ensured clear communication about the procedures and answered all my questions. He made sure I was comfortable with the results. The whole office is beautiful. Fantastic experience: Extremely professional and skilled, I wish there were 20 stars to give you guys. Everyone in the office is very friendly and highly knowledgeable. From the receptionist, office staff, dental hygienist, and dentist. The hygienist did an awesome job cleaning my teeth and took excellent care of my highly infected gums. Very down to earth staff. The most impressive part is where they took the time to show me my problem areas on my x-rays. I have never ever had a dentist go into depth explaining every little detail of what was done and how to care for my teeth better. I never felt rushed. They all make it seem as if I was the only patient there. Highly professional. If you really love and want to have strong healthy teeth, then Gentle Dental is the number 1 choice.

Positive experience: Staff is patients friendly, listens to patients, seems to perform their job professiomally. While I may be satisfied with the work already done, the cost is not flexible, and my insurance is not accepted. Paying out of pocket delays my decision to complete the work that i anticipate to be done.

Fantastic experience: For a first visit I found it to be a positive experience with everyone very kind and helpful. Answered all my questions very professionally as well as thoroughly. Also continually made sure I was comfortable while being worked on. 6/24/25- It was a long session & a lot of work. The Dr was excellent by way of quality work and caring about patient comfort! Fantastic experience: My third time getting significant dental work at Gentle Dental. I could not be more satisfied with the whole experience and the final results. Both the dentists and dental hygienists do impecable work, from the meticulous cleaning to the perfectly fitted crown. First the front desk greets you in a friendly manner and attend to you as soon as they can. Once you are escorted to your treatment room the assistants work diligently to set you up, making the wait time pleasant. Their quality of work always surpasses my expectations. I will continue to come back and recommend them to my friends and family.

Negative experience: Insurance scam. Made an appointment online as it says they accept the insurance. Filled out pre-appointment paperwork only to have them cancel the appointment and I say I wasn’t in the system. Get to the office and they say they don’t accept the insurance and there will be a co-pay of 20% of the original amount. Just avoid.

Fantastic experience: I was in pretty bad pain, and I was able to schedule an appointment here same day on a Saturday, thankfully. They gave me a tour of the office and introduced me to some of the employees, and everyone was so nice :). The office is really clean and modern, and I loved the plants near the entrance lol. Also, there was a tv in the room where I got my service, which was pretty cool. But most importantly, they recommended me several different things to fix my issue (and I did everything) and it all worked! I’m feeling so much better after my second session. I wasn’t able to eat on the right side of my mouth and now I can! Special thanks to Jen, the hygienist who did my cleanings, she was so knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I can’t recommend this place enough, definitely my favorite dental office I’ve ever been too!

Negative experience: I will say that the office is beautiful and the hygienist/ doctors are amazing. However, I had an emergency and they offered me very little to nothing in support. Their credit card was pushed multiple times and I didn’t qualify and then it was like let’s get you outta here. I just wanted to fix a chipped composite and I was so taken aback and it made me look at the gentle dental brand differently I asked so many question to weigh my options and nope that’s it !

It’s all team work at this location with many people providing treatment and care, from a gentle tech doing my x-rays, to explaining what the visuals show and what work is needed. Negative experience: AVOID! The office is clean and modern but they charge way more than other practices and were suggesting services that I didn’t need. They seem to want to get every dollar they can out of you. Plus, the hygienists all watch Netflix while they are doing your cleanings. Would not recommend!

Negative experience: BEWARE! The office is beautiful, but my experience was concerning. I spent over two hours there, most of which felt like a sales pitch for dental services I didn’t need. Eventually, I was placed in a room with a “financial adviser” who quoted me over $2,000 to treat a supposed cavity. I was also told that once the dentist began, it might turn into a root canal—costing around $5,000. This felt like a red flag. Alarmed, I requested a copy of my x-rays and sought a second opinion. The new dentist took several of their own x-rays and confirmed that I did not have a cavity at all. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Gentle Dental Bayside.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Gelfand is the BEST! I needed to fix three cavities and a missing filling. I am usually very anxious in a dental office and embarrassed to say, I avoid going at all costs. Dr Gelfand not only made me feel comfortable with his calm and expert demeanor, I almost fell asleep while he was drilling my teeth! He is my dentist for life! This office provided the best experience I could hope for. The staff is lovely - courteous, extremely professional and friendly. The office is beautiful and equipped with the latest technology. Positive experience: Staff ALL greeted and welcomed me as a new patient. Place was immaculate clean with new equipment as well. Dentist and all staff seemed like they could be trusted and knew exactly what they were talking about giving detailed explanations of what was going on and what I needed. When it came down to payment, the prices are not what I expected. A bunch of options were thrown my way as far as how to pay, my head was spinning about all payment information by the time I left. Let's see what comes out of this but I need to do more research as far as prices.

Fantastic experience: From the friendly greeting at the front desk to the checkout at the end of my visit, I love Gentle Dental and I never felt this way about going to the dentist prior to experiencing Gentle Dental. The team is awesome and they consistently deliver prompt, friendly and professional service. Hands down the best! I trust them wholeheartedly. They're not trying to sell services you don't need, but they are taking care of your needs and their chair-side manner is phenomenal. Negative experience: They will try max out everything out of your pocket, in my case they maxed out everything from my dental insurance for the year… the service is ok, you don’t expect more than that. Place is quiet and nice like any others. I don’t like how they only do cleaning only one side of the teeth.You will have to come back again and pay again. FYI: MetLife is not in their network or sum, I paid nearly $300 for cleaning while I can do it free at other places. I can’t recommend from my experience

Fantastic experience: It was my first time and I was super nervous because I needed a wisdom tooth extraction. I was seen my Dr.Greg and his helpful nurses and I didnt feel a thing. I didn’t even realize he took the tooth out because of how quick and painless the process was. They followed up with me so kindly the next day about how I was feeling. I recommend 100%

Negative experience: This place just finds ways to bill you for something!? ... After they convinced me that I needed a deep cleaning, they wanted to bill me again for a follow up 'periodontal cleaning' even though it's the exact same procedure as a routine cleaning which should be covered. They werent even going to tell me , until i asked before the procedure ... Not going back here!

Fantastic experience: The entrance is light and airy. The greeters are polite and efficient. Dr. Choi explained the issues he saw on the (free) x-rays clearly and we set up an appointment to treat the immediate problem. His hygienist did a great job cleaning my teeth without.pain. It was an overall pleasant experience.

Fantastic experience: I will admit, I was apprehensive at first, I hadn’t been to a dentist in a while and part of me didn’t want to know if I had a bunch of cavities or perhaps something more serious. I had also read reviews here some of which were quite negative, and others stating that they didn’t take PPO and so I was hoping they would take my insurance. But after three visits I can safely say this is a very nice dentist office. Reception was very nice and friendly, and assured me that my insurance was indeed covered. They took meticulous X rays, and my dental hygienist was thorough about cleaning my teeth. I met with Dr Park and he seemed very kind and knowledgeable, he showed me my X rays and where I needed to get some spots taken care of, and also explained how to go about flossing and taking care of my teeth, as well as answering any questions I had. I went back a few days later to get some spots filled and Dr Park and his assistant were great, I genuinely didn’t feel a thing and my teeth feel much better now. Dr Park is a professional and knowledgeable dentist and he really knows what he’s doing. All in all, reading some of these reviews that were negative made me nervous so I wanted to address them directly. Yes they do take PPO plans, but as always ask the front desk ahead of time to ensure that you are covered if you have any concerns. No, they didn’t try to pressure me in any way to get any specific treatment, but it is always the right of the patient to refuse a treatment, so the reviews which stated “they billed my insurance for something without asking me for permission”, it is up to us to ask questions and communicate with the staff so that we don’t get any surprises. Definitely was not my experience, I would definitely take some of those reviews with a grain of salt. The staff were nice and it was actually the first good dentist experience I have had in recent memory. I had a very positive experience over the course of three appointments, and if you are looking for a nice, clean, friendly dental office this is a great choice and I would definitely recommend them.

Unfortunately, it appears that staff members are made aware of the follow up customer service survey you complete and if you point out issues with certain staff members, you become a perceived troublemaker for all. I have never initiated communicating concerns on my own, as it is the practice's protocol to present this survey as standard for patient visit follow up. As a result, staff members who normally greet me when I visit said nothing this last time around. This last visit was indeed my last.

Negative experience: I’ve been going here for YEARS. And now they want to start charging extra for random things. A standard cleaning they are putting through the insurance for a more expensive procedure. Just trying to get your money. I wouldn’t recommend this place anymore.

Negative experience: Looks nice on the outside, but they're really out for your money. I called to make sure they took my insurance (they claimed that they did but when it came time to pay, I found out they weren't even in my network). While I appreciated the detailed examination at the time. I don't appreciate the set up that comes with it. I came in to get a tooth pulled because the name assured me it wouldn't be painful (it wasn't). What i didn't expect or ask for was a whole invisalign consultation and 3D render (which is to set you up into getting the treatment done). Had I known that they would file these claims against my insurance without my knowledge, I wouldn't have came. I definitely won't be coming back. Paid double the amount I normally would have to pay to get a tooth pulled.

Positive experience: Finally Gentle Dental has lived up to its name. I had a pleasant "Gentle" cleaning with Cindy who worked slowly and told me what she was doing for every step of this procedure which is what I requested. I am an anxious patient which was why I originally chose this place over ten years ago. They don't take my insurance because I have a PPO and they only take HMO, so the cost is very high, but the actual work is excellent, Dr. Gelfand is amazing, and the computer easily visible and allowing me to see and follow along is calming for me. The assistant, Oxana spoke slowly and accommodated my needs quickly and efficiently. However, the Reception desk even though the staff has changed is still dismissive and uninterested, they do not tell patients their names nor do they wear identifying badges. Honestly through all these years I don't think I ever heard any of them say "Thank you." The billing experience is also the same "Take it or leave it" hardcore method. I asked the clerk if I booked the date today Nov. 14 2024 for my next appointment 6 months ahead if they could give me the $195 price I paid today in cash. She said probably not as prices are always going up and she left the room to "ask my manager" and came back saying No. Gentle Dental does not incentivize their customers especially those of long and in good standing. I did not feel properly valued.

Negative experience: I had an implant done on my front tooth and paid almost $6000 for the work, but when the final tooth was placed in my mouth, I realized that it was much smaller than it should be. I expressed concern at the time, but the staff convinced me that it looked good. Since I have had the work done, numerous people who know me have asked me what’s wrong with my tooth. Embarrassed to say that this is the final product of $6000 that I spent, I lie and say that it is a temporary. It has been some 3 years since the tooth was done, but I contacted the office anyway because I feel like the tooth should have been redone and would have been if they would have listened to me when I first complained. They told me that nowI have to pay for a new tooth, but I feel they should correct their error without any additional cost to me. I probably would have acted sooner, but I had a newborn at the time and Was very overwhelmed. I’m uploading a picture. You be the judge. In the picture of the tooth I’m talking about is the front tooth on the right (when looking at the picture). You can clearly see that the tooth is the wrong size and needs to be a bit longer.

Fantastic experience: I have always had a great experience at Gentle Dental. Their staff and doctor are extremely. Knowledgeable and experienced in their field of work. I would encourage the New York City population to check out Gentle Dental for dental work.

Fantastic experience: As a person very intimidated by idea of visiting a dentist, I can honestly say this office is beyond incredible. The staff is very friendly and professional, the atmosphere is comfortable, and it is impeccably clean. Dr. Kogen is amazing, and the entire staff deserves the highest praise. Thank you, highly recommend.

Negative experience: I went and did my re bonding here last week paid out of pocket my teeth were completely all different sizes had to tell the doctor to keep fixing the size and left with some what same sized teeth came home the bonding came off in pieces it is not worth it ! Horrible experience had to go and re do my teeth at a specialist all over again.

Fantastic experience: In my opinion, these folks are the best. I shall look no further. Modern huge office with numerous exam rooms, the most up to date equipment I've ever seen, including stuff I've never seen before, kind friendly staff, awesome dentists, hygienists, billing staff, everybody. Simply the best. On my 2nd implant now.
