Fantastic experience: Came in today for cleaning and was see by Carina. I’m not usually one to write a review but her customer service and knowledge was outstanding. She was very personable, explained every step of the way, and checked in often to insure I was comfortable. Thank you for the service.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a patient at Risas Dental for years, and now my oldest daughter is getting her braces there as well. The staff is always welcoming, professional, and so great with kids. We have been assisted by different employess there and they have all been amazing. Stefani at the front is always very welcoming and friendly. Ive been to other locations and this location has been the best so far. They explain everything clearly and make each visit comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I attended the Labor of Love event they held today, my experience was very positive, they supplied doughnuts, breakfast burritos, water, & coffee while we waited to be seen. Once inside they showed the utmost concern for why we were there to seen. They were able to take care of a cavity that I had formed over time, it was quick and painless and best of all it was done free of charge. Thank you to all the Doctors and assistants that were there for us today!

Fantastic experience: Attended the Labor of Love free dental day today and overall experience was excellent. Did get there early, so did have to wait. But food, drinks, and chairs were provided. All the front desk girls and assistants had great attitudes, really informative, and overall very organized. I selected a free basic cleaning and my assistant Julissa was amazing. I'm not the best at sitting in the dental chair but she made me feel comfortable and also ended the service with great advice for my future dental care. Would totally recommend this free service for all uninsured or under insured people needing dental care. Thank you Risas Dental, keep up the great work and thank you for giving back to the community.

Cari C and Dr Groscost are very concerned with my comfort and well being while I am here. They are often busy and it takes a little to get in sometimes, but worth it if you live in the area.

Negative experience: This place do not help people of my kind you can be bout to die and they will send you on your way this is the second time they just send me away with an exsposed infection and had no care at all and I feel like IAM going to die I have not ate in four days I can cry I’m in so much pain I can’t sleep my body is weak

Fantastic experience: I know I am in good hands with Dr. Millett. I have had dental work done at a previous provider/location and am still dealing with the long term ramifications from that poor decision. My hygienist, Cari, was even instrumental in spotting an abscess that was immediately addressed. I can't recommend this practice enough. It's never a hassle to get both myself and my husband scheduled on the same day and our visits are timely and efficient. I am so happy that this location is near minutes from our house and offers excellent service. I have found a dentist for life.

Fantastic experience: Update June 9th, 2025: Once again, I am absolutely thrilled w/ the entire Risas Dental team here in South Phoenix. Today, I was in for a crown prep. Dr. Millett, with Blanca assisting, took care of me. The entire staff here at Risas is exemplary; high skills and contagious smiles is the best way that I can describe this place. These folks obviously love their jobs/careers. - What a wonderful dental office this is. I have seen two dentists to date, Dr. Millett and Dr. Coleman; both are fantastic Dentists. The offices are pristine. And what impressed me as well were the many first class young people running the place with the Dentists. From the young people at the front desk to the hygienists to the assistants, there is great positive energy and work ethic at Risas. It gives me hope for our nation’s future to see these great people. I actually can’t wait to have a cavity so that I can go back. Okay, that’s not true but you get the gist .

Negative experience: 5/2025: I just realized I never posted my experience with Risas from last September. I do know that I provided the same feedback from the 9/2024 verbiage below to them via a survey they sent out -- and they NEVER RESPONDED. Now that I am getting this posted, I can include an update expressing further disgruntlement with Risas. After the subpar experience w/ Risas, I went back to my normal dentist this past May. Because it had been a couple years between visits, they needed a full mouth x-ray. I told them x-rays were taken about 6 mos ago at Risas. When they called Risas to request the x-rays, they were refused. When I called Risas, I explained to the gal on the phone why I was calling (to grant permission to release the x-rays & ask why they refused to send them). She connected me to another office WITHOUT EXPLAINING TO THEM WHY I CALLED, so I had to repeat the explanation. That 2nd gal explained they did not "refuse" to send the x-rays but instead were unable to because 1) Risas did not take full-mouth x-rays, which is what my dentist needed, and 2) Risas was UNABLE TO LOCATE my partial x-rays anyway. Oh, they had a record that x-rays were taken but they were not to be found. She blamed it on a system update. Quite frankly, I blame it on incompetency & poor business practice. Just FYI, that same gal explained that Risas does not even take full-mouth x-rays UNLESS THEIR DOCTOR instructs them to do so. So I blew $96 with Risas visit for a half-ass cleaning & lost x-rays. I will never recommend Risas to anyone. 9/2024: I had been to the same dental office for 15+ yrs, every six months like clockwork. They did so much more at my appts than Risas did: poked at my gums around each tooth to measure the gum line, offered / suggested fluoride treatments every visit, cleaned AND polished, and removed any plaque buildup. All Risas did was take x-rays, floss and "clean" -- the floss came first which was ridiculous considering the grit of the "cleaning" goo got stuck in my teeth after. When the friendly gal said I was done after only two things, I was shocked, and did ask about the plaque removal process. She said my teeth were healthy enough it wasn't necessary. Uh yeah, they are healthy because every six months at my regular dentist the plaque was REMOVED. Now, however, whatever she didn't remove will be part of the build up for the next dental visit (at a real dentist's office). On top of the underwhelming experience with the doctor and hygienist, the gal who took my info at the appt time did not ask me to review the data she was inputting in, just asked me to sign; the x-ray machines weren't functioning properly, and the so-called receipt I was given was bare-bones. It did not mention any of the treatments (x-rays, floss, cleaning); it simply says my name, "pay" and the CC total. I was also surprised to discover that if you are referred by someone, if that someone uses insurance, they do not receive the $25 credit -- which I partially understand since she is not paying for the visit, the insurance is -- but 1) she may have a co-pay to worry about, which can be reduced by the $25 referral bonus, or 2) you can provide those people who make referrals with a $25 gift card somewhere as a thank you instead.

Fantastic experience: My dental assistant today was Maria. She was very kind and helped to calm me down since I’m always terrified at the dentist. She really is the best!

Negative experience: When I originally started my ortho treatment at Risas I was super excited. I was told that I could come in at any time and get my color changed with my braces and would be considered a walk in. I went today to change my color and was told it was for emergencies only and that wasn’t allowed. I feel extremely mislead and would never have started my ortho treatment here if I knew this was the case. Overall I have had no other mishaps, I just don’t appreciate being told false information.

Fantastic experience: I had 35 years with my previous dentist and had to find a new one. I went to Risas because my back molar cracked. I also have Vertigo so I was pretty worried about a new dentist understanding my situation. I met Dr. Michael Millett and at my first visit I felt very comfortable with him. I ended up needing 2 crowns and when I went back he was so kind and compassionate...BUT... I felt NO pain at all ... Nothing... Shots to numb me were painless. I recommend him with all my heart. He didn't mind having to stand to work on my mouth. I personally found my new dentist and I trust him with all my heart. ❤️ UPDATE: I just can't believe how awesome Dr. Michael Millett is. I am telling you all. Dr. Millett just replaced my 6 tooth bridge. Not to mention it was my front top teeth. I had the old bridge for 35 plus years. My previous dentist use to always tell me that the bridge scared him and hoped it would last forever...Well it didn't and Dr. Millett took care of me as if it was not a problem at all to him. I am telling you all go see him. I am so happy with it and the color is perfect. He cares about YOU and your outcome... The staff is always very kind and the place smells so clean. I am very thrilled to have him as my doctor. I can say I had no anxiety when I would see him. I trust him with all my heart! God bless you and your family Dr. Millett and I will forever be grateful for the compassion and the way you care about my teeth. Thank you :)

Fantastic experience: We have had a great experience with Risas South Mountain location for my daughter's braces and now teeth cleanings. It's very convenient to get cleanings, while having braces, which were having trouble figuring out with her prior dentist. All the staff has been very friendly. We recently had a great experience with Cari, a hygienist there. The dentist and orthodontist are great too. The pricing can't be beat either. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: God for bid if you have problems with a temporary and have to walk in as a walk-in patient… was told I could be waiting for several hours. No appt with one person ahead of me. Temp Just need to be looked at to see if it’s stable enough until my appt which isn’t for another 6 days! All this money they charge they need a better system to accommodate working ppl that need a full paycheck.

Negative experience: I will NEVER recommend this Risas. My childs braces have been on for over 3 years (CRAZY)! Our appointment today was at 11:30am, we checked in at 11:35, it's now 12:58pm, and he's still not out. I will say the dental assistants are chill and the vibe is generally okay.

The office opens Saturdays and that's a big plus for me since I work weekdays and live far but it's worth the drive. Prices are exellent!! I totally recommend them.

Negative experience: I needed a lot of dental work done. Dr. Weir and the assistants were very polite, understanding and made me feel a lot less embarrassed and ashamed about it. They completed a lot of the work in a small amount of time and scheduled the procedures to where I would have breaks in between to avoid too much pain. The billing team was great with working out an affordable payment arrangement. It does get busy and sometimes I have to wait, but the customer service and dental work itself is the best I’ve had. Editing my review to reflect the horrible customer service from the Billing Department. I got a root canal from Dr. Weir 09/2023, and by 02/2024 it was giving me pain issues. They gave me a referral basically saying it may need to be redone and they can’t redo it, only oral surgeons can so I was a given a referral to an oral surgeon in 05/2024 who said that a root was missed when the original procedure was done and it needed to be redone out of pocket would cost me of $1500. I asked Dr.Weir and the Billing department for a refund to cancel out the previous procedure with the insurance since they wouldn’t cover it again in May 2024. I understand that things like this take time but I’ve called at least once a month since MAY and I’ve been given the run around by the billing department told something different each time from the insurance rejected the refund, to the insurance asked for more information. Each time I ask to speak with a supervisor I’m told I’ll be given a callback which means we happens. So for almost 6 months I’ve been walking around in pain from failed dental work from Risas. I can’t even get it fixed with our without insurance since I was charged over $600 out of pocket WITH insurance. I don’t have that kind of extra money laying around. I called today and was reassured I’d be given a call back but if not by 6-7pm call back again. I don’t have time to keep calling back and being given the run around. So I will be making a formal complaint with my insurance and Arizona Board of Dental and whatever else organizations can help get me my money back!
