Fantastic experience: Prior to becoming a patient at Smiles By The Sea Dentistry, I had developed a legitimate anxiety towards any/all dentists. After going an embarrassingly long time without seeing a dentist, I became a patient at Smiles By The Sea. Upon my first visit the entire staff quickly put me at ease and helped alleviate any anxiety I previously had. I have been back several times since my first visit, and I always come away from my experience feeling grateful that I have found a dentist who takes great care of my dental needs, while helping me feel relaxed and at ease. Overall my entire experience has outstanding and I highly recommend Smiles By The Sea Family Dentistry!

Fantastic experience: Sue is a wonderful dental hygienist, whose manner, professionalism and knowledge make the experience of visiting the dentist way easier and more relaxing than visiting a dentist should be. When our previous dentist retired, we followed Sue to our new dentist - Smiles by the Sea. We could not be happier. Obviously, we still have Sue as our dental hygienist, but Dr Shevchencko and her team are wonderful. The office carries all of the latest and UpToDate equipment and the staff explain everything prior to any procedures. You know you are in very good hands and we would recommend Smiles by the Sea Family Dentistry - and Dr Shevchenko to everyone.

Everyone in the office was so kind and considerate, and my visits never once felt rushed or impersonal. You can tell this practice genuinely cares about their patients and takes the time to make you feel comfortable. I especially want to thank the hygienist Sue! She is genuinely amazing at her job and making sure you feel comfortable. She cares about how you’re doing far beyond just routine dental treatment, and does her job with excellence! She has a gentle, thoughtful touch that can’t be overlooked, and I really appreciated how she explained everything and made sure I felt at ease the whole time. It’s rare to find someone who combines such professionalism with so much warmth, and I left feeling so well taken care of.

Negative experience: Terrible experience, first of all they made me do a 5 star review the second I sat down in their chair before doing anything and then show them I did it. I am a younger girl and I just went in for a cleaning before my insurance ran out. They told me I needed all of my fillings replaced asap & made me panic and book. When I cried because of the cost the dr told me what you don’t have anyone who can pay for it, don’t you live nearby in hampton…. Fast forward I wanted to get a second opinion who ended up telling all of my fillings looked great & I didn’t need work on any of them. It’s two years later now and I’ve had no problems with my teeth or fillings and every time I go in they tell me my teeth look beautiful. Run from this place.

As far as hygienist and dentistry work goes, this dentist has outdone themselves with care, patient priority, and educational tips and tricks for a healthier mouth. They are also very cooperative and patient with kids. My son is just about 2, and can become very unsure of the dentist. However, the staff here is quick to help and comfort him in all ways! Negative experience: Good things to note: friendly admin staff and clean practice However, would recommend new patients get a second opinion before moving forward with expensive treatment recommended by Dr. Shevchenko. I scheduled a visit here out of curiosity from an online ad heavily pushing out an Invisalign deal. In hindsight, this should have been a red flag - quality dental practices shouldn't need to push so hard with online ads to bring in new patients. My appointment started a half hour late, and upon my visit, I was told that one of my molars needed a crown as it "could break any day" leaving me fearful of eating hard foods and anxiously researching how much a crown might cost. I followed up with my trusted dentist I see for my routine cleaning and was told my tooth is perfectly fine and likely wouldn't need additional treatment for decades with regular monitoring. I also take really good care of my teeth. I think this practice is willing to instill fear in potential new patients to get them to spend big $ on expensive treatment, even if unnecessary, which I find unethical.

Fantastic experience: I had a terrific experience with Smiles By the Sea. I was in horrible pain, but since I've had my tooth pulled, I'm out of any more of that pain. Tooth pain is the worst, but Smiles By The Sea made my pain completely go away. I would highly recommend them to everyone! I'm not a very big fan of going to the dentist due to unpleasant experiences in my past, but Smiles By The Sea made me feel comfortable, and I'm not nervous about going back. They have a very helpful and pleasant staff.

Negative experience: Adjusting my 5 star to 1 star. Over the course of 2 years I have seen many staff leave, probably due to having a conscience. Reading other reviews I feel like my story is validated, this place starts as a warm welcome, but slowly turns into a painful money-centric experience. They have taken every opportunity to try and shove invisalign down my thoat. Harping on old teeth wear (from when I had an cemented interior retainer) as a serious need for invisalign, up to the last visit where they pointed out a crack in my tooth (I recieved a very heavy blow to that tooth and cracked it). Again trying to use this as a scare to purchase invisalign, which I have denied on my last 4 visits and made a point to mention I will never purchase it and to please stop asking. The Dr. came in after a cleaning and after looking at the screen for not even .5 seconds proceeded to go into her condesending and rather unsettling sales pitch for invisalign... again. I took both of this issues to another dentist recently, without mentioning these experiences, lo and behold they correctly identified what actually caused them. It's become exausting and I am definitely finding a new dentist who cares about my well-being and not my wallet. Please don't contact me, I'm not changing or removing this review.

Fantastic experience: I can't recommend this place enough. The staff and equipment is the best iv ever seen. I had a tooth break on Sunday and they got me in and fixed me up first thing Monday morning. Very professional, kind and caring!!! This is my go to place from now on. I wish I could give 10 stars. Negative experience: Went for a “free consultation” for Invisalign only to essentially be told I was wasting their time since I had questions and wasn’t yet ready to commit thousands of dollars for the procedure. Owner was extremely rude and condescending. Update: I was sent a letter threatening legal action unless I delete the above review. It is an honest assessment of my experience. Negative experience: Recently posted how unhappy I was with this practice . Just received a letter from the practice threatening legal action if post was not removed. I guess they only want a certain type of review to be posted. (They are constantly asking patients for reviews when checking out after an appointment) Im hoping the practice will quickly define exactly what they considered “libelous and inaccurate” in my initial post. I will soon repost about my experiences with Smiles by the Sea and this time also include a photo of their letter for all to see. I know many kids can have a fear of going to the doctors or dentist (even adults) but here you don't have to worry! Negative experience: Editing my review after a recent experience. First visit was great, didn't meet the owner of the practice. During my second visit I met the owner and it was an intense Invisalign upsale. Told me my teeth were chipped because I need invisalign which was strange because I chipped my teeth on a trampoline. The pressure to agree to a 4k procedure was insane. Very uncomfortable. Got a second opinion and the dentist agreed there is no reason for orthodontia. Also, they give you a gift card for a 5 star review so take the good reviews with a grain of salt. Proceed with caution.
