Fantastic experience: Highly recommend. From making the emergency appointment which they were able to accommodate the next day, to walking out I was very impressed. The girls in the front were kind and accommodating. They called me back for my appt just two minutes after I walked in, Dr. Moore was understanding, none judgmental and very easy to talk too. She looked at my X-rays and explained everything I had going on and gave me multiple options and answered all my questions. She got the work done quickly and efficiently, made sure I was comfortable and not in pain always checking on me . As someone who is terrified, and anxious and generally hate the dentist , my whole experience here was amazing. Will be returning for continued , long term care.

Fantastic experience: Dr Wakily is the best dentist I've ever had and I've had a few winners in the last 60 years. He's the ultimate professional. He remembers and discusses conversations we have had in the past and he always has a calming demeanor that relaxes me, even in times of dentistry stress which we all have. Fantastic experience: I've been going to this office since the late 1900's, long before it became The Smilist. The new practitioners are every bit as capable as the old. A request for a consult at 8:15 am yesterday, resulted in my being seen at 1:00 pm yesterday, and my work already complete between 2:00 and 4:00 today. Dr. Daniella Apostol is brilliant, as artful as she is technical. The same may be said for Dr. Michael Wakily, who treats me regularly. I've had a painless procedure, with remarkable results. Kudos to P.A. Brenda. I highly recommend this dental practice.

Negative experience: This place is the biggest scam there is nasty staff. I went for a consultation they come in and say I need to do x-rays no problem. How much is it $49 OK let’s do it. The doctor comes in and says we’re doing a full panel of x-rays. Then the nasty office staff comes in and says oh no we’re only gonna do the bottom. I said the dentist said that we’re doing a full panel. She goes. Oh well we’re only doing the bottom now. For a customer I was going for a free consultation could have cost them thousands of dollars and work. I was looking to get everything done. This will not be the place. I’m getting it done at.

Fantastic experience: i originally tried to book online but it didn’t go through on their system and though i got an email about my appt, when i came it wasn’t in their system. but they kindly fit me in later that day, so better to book over the phone. i had dr apostol and she was wonderful! i was very nervous about getting a root canal because i have sensitive teeth, and they not only gave me options but she explained each step and very efficiently got it done with no pain. she listened to my concerns and kept checking in that i was doing ok. i really appreciated that, and it was a completely different experience from what i was used to. great communication, they took time to address my concerns, and did great work!

And everyone is so nice and personable at the east Islip location. The women that did my cleaning talked me through everything and took breaks when I needed ,.immidiatley made me feel comfortable and explained to me step by step what I needed .. I would recommend to everyone Iknow. 10/10

Negative experience: They Scheduled us for the wrong type of appointment. Then had us wait 45 minutes for a consult and we had to reschedule. I called twice and left messages with a person to change the type of sedation for wisdom teeth removal that we were scheduled for because they had pushed us into the laughing gas instead of general anesthesia and they never called back. Terrible service and disrespectful of people’s fears and individual preferences.

Negative experience: Beware! They billed me for an extraction which they said they couldn’t do, they sent me to another Dentist to schedule that procedure. Then after that they said a certain procedure wasn’t covered by my insurance but they wouldn’t submit the procedure paperwork to my insurance company. Why do I have insurance if you won’t submit the paperwork? After you made a mistake on my bill maybe you made a mistake in saying my insurance won’t cover this so please submit the paperwork so I can have the insurance response in writing and follow up with the insurance company myself. Nope won’t do. Won’t even discuss. They said they would call the insurance company to double check while I was there but I was standing right there and they never called, just said full stop you aren’t covered. Maybe I am, maybe I’m not, but please submit. Nope won’t do. Stay away.

Her professionalism and work ethic are such a gift to her patients. From start to finish my dental experience was flawless. I literally traveled all the way from Florida just for the privilege of having her clean my teeth. Yes, you read that right – FLORIDA. I heard whispers of her legendary skills and knew I had to experience it for myself, and WOW, was it worth it! Monica is an absolute miracle worker. From the second I walked in, she treated me like royalty, making me feel completely at ease with her gentle, almost magical touch. The way she cleaned my teeth was nothing short of art. I felt like I was getting a spa treatment for my mouth – every single tooth felt like it was getting its own VIP treatment. If I had known how incredible this cleaning would be, I would’ve flown in from California, Hawaii, or anywhere in the world to see her. My teeth have never felt so pristine and refreshed. Monica is the undisputed champion of dental hygiene, and I’d travel to the ends of the earth just to get that sparkling clean again. Do yourself a favor – book with Monica. You won’t regret it. She’s a dental angel!

Negative experience: The guys I saw was great. The company as a whole trash. Needless bill padding. I didn’t need X-rays but got charged for them anyway . 3% extra on a 1500 bill cause I don’t walk around with that kind of money. If I were you shop around a little more.

She also was gentle when typically I am super uncomfortable during cleanings. She made me feel good about my teeth and good about going to the dentist. Negative experience: I had a deeply concerning experience at The Smilist. One of the dentists recommended two root canals, which immediately raised red flags. Thankfully, I changed jobs and my new insurance wasn’t accepted here, which led me to get a second opinion. Since then, I’ve seen three different reputable dentists, all of whom confirmed that I don’t even have cavities. It’s extremely troubling to think that such an invasive and expensive treatment was suggested without cause. This kind of behavior erodes trust in the dental profession and puts patients at serious risk, both financially and medically. I urge anyone considering this practice to seek a second (or third) opinion before agreeing to any major treatment. “The Smilist” might sound like a friendly name, but after my experience, it felt more like “The Swindlist.” Stay cautious.

Fantastic experience: I called on a Friday evening hoping to get an emergency visit as I cracked a tooth and I was in pain. My regular dentist would not see me for 2 weeks. I was told to come right in and was taken care of immediately. The office was state of the art and all the employees were very kind. The dentist and her assistants were fabulous too! Fantastic experience: My first visit to the Smilist in East Islip was great. The Dental Hygenest was detailed and thorough. My teeth never felt so clean. I'm so happy I changed Dentist.

Negative experience: I have had many issues with specific dentists and there assistants. The issue is there poor cross contamination between each patient. They do not wash there hands going from room to room. They touch things in the room that are contaminated from previous patients. They touch instruments that come into direct contact with the blood in your mouth with there hands with no gloves.

Fantastic experience: Even though I am an employee of the Smilist, today I was a patient. Dr. Apostol and her assistant Anthony were an amazing team in the operatory together. They worked seamlessly with eachother with wonderful choreography through out my entire procedure. Their bedside manner, care and concern for my well being was present the entire time. 10 out of 10 for this duo!

Negative experience: Front desk staff very nice but the person work on my teeth , she was very harsh on my teeth . Feel like she is scrubbing metal not cleaning my teeth , still my mouth hurt and I have cuts on my mouth . I wait for my appointment almost hour even I was 1/2hour early. This happened with me 2nd time . Not happy but yes front desk staff very very nice.

Negative experience: Not recommended. After my spouse went in for an initial exam, she received an x-ray of each tooth and was recommended to have 5 cavities filled. The dentist recommended that she have all cavities filled at one visit. This was a terrible recommendation and the dentist did not properly align her teeth. This led to 3 months of toothache, even after going in for a re-exam and alignment. Their schedule is inflexible if you need to reschedule an appointment. I would not recommend anyone visit the Smilist. This is a corporate dental office that does not put the needs of their patients first.

Fantastic experience: Monica at this location was very compassionate. As a middle aged woman with fear of going to the dentist, she did not judge me and was very considerate of my feelings. As a gagger, Monica understood that x-rays this visit would not be possible after a few attempts and did not force them on me. She did a thorough cleaning allowing little breaks for me to rest a bit. I have already recommended a friend who had a visit in March and she was very happy as well with this East Islip office so much so, she made her next appointment on the spot!!.

I used to be terrified of the dentist but the staff and MD made me feel so comfortable and they talked me threw every aspect of the procedure and I had zero pain or discomfort.

Negative experience: I'm a new patient and have been there 3 times in the last 6 months. At first I was happy I switched and found the staff and dentist to be welcoming and professional, but every time I went, and paid the required amount, I would get a bill for additional money due. The last one was for a treatment the hygienist recommended. I asked if it was covered by my insurance and she went to the front desk and confirmed it was, so I agreed to the treatment. Now I am being billed for it.

Today, I had to have the root canal done. Listen let me take this time to tell you, if you need an orthodontist this is where you need to go. The number one dentist in Long Island the Smilist Dentist in East Islip. The dentist was so passionate and warmly considerate, professional and she explained everything that she was doing while she was doing it. .I needed that. I tell you I didn't even feel any pain, it was painless. I cried after the procedure because I was so grateful and appreciative of the work that was just performed in my mouth I didn't feel any of it . I had no pain. I was very scared but the doctor was so cool and magical , seriously she's the best. After the surgery I just wanted to give her a big old hug because I couldn't believe that she did surgery on my mouth and she saved my tooth .. I am a New York City correctional officer and I'm telling you this is the place you want to go if you want to keep your smile looking sweet baby, thank you to all of the staff they're very considerate and respectful and I didn't have to wait my appointment was at 3:30 I went in 3:30 I like that I went in with a frown I came out with a smile

Fantastic experience: I have been brushing my teeth too hard for a long time and it seems that it has caught up to me. My gum is receding in one small area and it’s causing some serious sensitivity. Before it got any worse I thought it would e smart to seek professional advice toward fixing it. The front desk staff was welcoming and polite. Dr. Crivello was very friendly and knowledgeable. He gave me a referral to a local periodontist who is going to get me squared away. I would recommend this place for sure. Great experience. I’m going back for a cleaning in July.

Fantastic experience: I had a filling done today by Dr. Apostol. I can say that she made the dental process so easy and comfortable. Dr. Apostol is very gentle and aware of her patients comfort . I would definitely recommend her.

Negative experience: This office was great until I switched doctors within the same facility some work was done in December and I have not recovered since. Went back so It could be examined again and was told it would go away. Now I'm taking NSAIDs 3-4 times a day. Very disappointed! What upsets me the most is that I express that something is not right and I keep getting brushed off “This will go away with time” It's been a month. All I did was a filling replacement!

Fantastic experience: I'm so grateful that Dr Apostol could fix the space between an old implant and another tooth. What a big improvement after eating! She worked so neatly and quickly, explained every step, which I like. Thank you Dr Apostol, it was fun meeting you and Emily the assistant.
