Fantastic experience: Mills River Family Dental has a very friendly, professional atmosphere. Sarah Diane is an outstanding Dental Hygienist. She is very thorough with her exams and cleaning.

Fantastic experience: I just had my second visit at Mills River Family Dental. The whole team is warm and kind. During both visits my appointment started right on time. The hygienist and assistance are so thorough and attentive. It had been several years since I went to a dentist and Dr. Mayer helped create a game plan with me to get my teeth back to optimal health. This place is top notch!

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful experience we had this morning with Dr. Dolezar! She was absolutely amazing with our son during his very first tooth extraction. She put him at ease right away, explained everything so kindly, and made the whole experience feel calm and positive. As you can see, he was so excited afterward—and every single person treated him like the brave little man that he is.

Fantastic experience: I had my wisdom teeth removed and was SUPER nervous, but luckily I had Shauna and Dr. Dolezar. They were the most caring, calm, and respectful duo I could have hoped for with my wisdom teeth removal! They were very informative and made sure I was doing alright, I felt virtually NO pain whatsoever, and they were efficient and kind! The healing process was wonderful and very short lived, I barely swelled and healed very quickly. I’m very grateful to them and the whole team here at the Mills River Family Dental! :)

Fantastic experience: I am so grateful to God for Mills River Family Dental. I prayed for God to help me find a way to get my teeth taken care of, as it had been several years since I had the money to get a check up, X-rays and cleaning. The next day a lady just so happened to tell me about how this practice offers free care to veterans on Veterans Day, which happened to be a few days from then. I went, and they indeed were so kind to all the veterans. They did free X-rays, check up, a cleaning and filled a cavity for me at no charge. I praise God for them, as He directly answered my prayer through them. God bless you all!

Fantastic experience: Great experience. Called for a new patient appointment. At 8:30 on a Friday am with a toothache. To my surprise they got me in at 11:00 that same day. Friendly staff from front to back, gave me several options to fix my problematic did the major work that day. Couldn't have asked for better service

Fantastic experience: Mills River Dental is wonderful. They couldn’t have been nicer. They open daily at 7am to accommodate early people like me. They were also offering an incredibly affordable new patient plan when I joined up. A family of three children was all getting taken back together as I was waiting five minutes to get called back myself. At least two of the hygienists have been there 10 years or more. Sarah, the hygienist, and Dr. Mayer were especially great. I would recommend Mill River Dental to anybody.

Positive experience: I've been going here for a few years. Alicia cleans my teeth every 10 weeks. She does a good job. Overall I like Mills River Family Dental. I'm not happy with this year's upcharge for using a card. I don't carry a checkbook or much cash. It's very disappointing. I drive 40 minutes to get there so paying another $7 or $8 adds up. Update. 12/4/25. I still visit Alicia every 10 weeks or so. I'm still not a fan of the credit card fee, but overall they do take good care of my teeth. I had a billing issue this past visit, and Alicia cared enough to follow through with getting it resolved. I do appreciate that a lot. I stay booked out a year or more and was thinking of switching to a dentist closer to home, but after her actions I will continue to make the drive to Mills River for my cleanings. Thank you very much! I highly recommend Alicia and Mills River Family Dental.

Fantastic experience: I am absolutely appreciative of the wonderful care that I receive at Mills River Dental. dr Mayer and staff are very careful and caring. The fact that they are not in network with any insurance is a drawback. And the fact that they want a cash deposit for an elective procedure (Descaling) bothers me.

I Truely love these guy's and the things they do for us Veterans it's Amazing. They explain things and actually help us to fully understand what needs to happen. Fantastic experience: I had an old gold crown come off late Monday night. Early Wednesday morning it was cemented back on! No pain. The dentist had to scrape all the old cement off first. I was very pleased with scheduling to get me in quickly and for the dentist to resolve the issue. No more chewy caramels for me! Thank you Mills River Family Dental!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely generous program for vets. Entire day (Veterans' Day) devoted to providing free services to all vets. I expected having to wait hours for service; however, after a short wait in the reception area I was given an appointment time for several hours later. Went home, came back at the appointed time, and was seen immediately. I had a filling replaced. I really hope they continue this program in coming years. Thank you Mills River Family Dental.

They were very busy but very happy and enjoyed the work they were doing. I have always been hesitant of being in the dentists office, but this location makes the hesitancy go away.

Fantastic experience: I had a great lady names SD and she was very kind and thoughtful! A great feature I appreciated was I got to pick some accommodations while getting my teeth cleaned. I chose an eye mask and headphones to keep myself relaxed during the cleaning.

Negative experience: Nope. This firm is not customer focused. At every turn it was like pushing a rock uphill. They didn't handle billing accurate or efficiently. When we switched to a new dentist they said they would send our x-rays over, they didn't. While we were patients they were very slow in their service and had to reschedule us due to 'vacations' and other staffing situations. Also, they 'take' Metlife Dental, but never mentioned that they are not 'in network'. Thanks for that. I've been going to dentists for decades and this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. YMMV. Good luck and don't forget to floss.

They also have non standard operating hours where they open early some days and stay open later on others, allowing 8-5 workers to schedule before or after work.

Fantastic experience: After my cleaning I had to go back to repair a chipped tooth. Dr. Dolazar and her assistant were great in the prepping, explanation, and execution/repair. As the son of a dentist, I am very particular. Dr. Dolazar has a great touch and “chairside” manor.

Fantastic experience: I had the BEST experience today at Mills River Family Dental. I had chipped a front tooth with a composite veneer. I kept getting suggestions from dentists to get porcelain across the top. 8 teeth, to the tune of 10-20 THOUSAND dollars. I just needed this tiny chip fixed in ONE tooth. Replace the veneer with more composite material. MRFD listened to my financial struggles, fixed my tooth. After insurance, only $56 out of pocket. They numbed me with numbing gel on my gums but I probably didn't even need that. They were kind, skilled and friendly. I love getting my teeth cleaned here! They offer pillows and blankets as comfort measures. I am cold all the time so I took a soft warm blanket. Every single staff member treats you with respect and kindness. Highly recommend. Today, they gave me my smile back and I am so grateful. This chip had caused me a great deal of self-esteem lows and now I can smile with confidence! Thank you, MRFD!

Negative experience: I don’t like the additional cost associated with using a credit card. The credit card I use is my HSA card and I have no way to withdraw cash or write a check

Positive experience: Very thorough review of my dental health. They took a ton of pictures of my teeth along with xrays and went over each of them in detail with me. They didn’t recommend any unnecessary services. The only reason I’m leaving 4 stars is because it was a bit pricey but you are getting a lot out of it.

Fantastic experience: I always have an excellent experience with MRFD. The techs are gentle and the dentists are knowledgeable. They use the sonic style tools, so minimal picking and scraping is done like with manual tools. I'll always be thankful to them because they gave my mom her smile back.
