Fantastic experience: Dr. Essenmacher and her staff at Essenmacher Family Dental excel at dentistry. They are professional yet sensitive to the patient’s anxieties and preferences. The quality of care and the latest technology they use is top notch. I highly recommend them for all your dental work.

Negative experience: I've never had such a rough experience during a routine cleaning. Six days after a new patient appointment I still have pain from the X-ray appliance cutting and bruising the roof of my mouth. In addition, the dentist didn't talk to me, but rather about me with the hygenist. I found this to be impolite and disrespectful. Finally, I don't care for a dental practice trying to sell floss, tooth brushes and mouthwash as part of a visit. The dentist could have easily written a Rx for the Prevident I requested, but instead pushed some other similar product. This practice is not for me.

Fantastic experience: Dental hygienist was careful to explain to me potential areas in my mouth, particularly gum tissue that could benefit from regular stimulation. She was very positive with giving me suggestions. Appointment was right on time as scheduled.

Now I have seen a great number of Dentist in my time, I must say they were very kind and Professional and warm people. Very knowledgeable too. They helped me in a number of ways. Fantastic experience: Our retired dentist recommended Dr. Essenmacher. Today was my first visit. I was welcomed warmly by the receptionist. My dental hygienist explained the concept of care at this clinic, asked if I had any problems and reviewed what services she would provide this visit. After my x-rays and cleaning, Dr. Essenmacher came to meet me. She reviewed my x-rays and did an exam. She was very personable and made some recommendations. Afterwards the receptionist checked me out. Everyone was very professional and efficient, but made me feel that they were concerned about me. It was a very pleasant experience. I look forward to continuing my care with Dr. Essenmacher and her staff. This was an earlier post, but since then, I have had continued great care from the team. Alyssa is gentle but thorough in her cleaning and maintenance activities. Dr. Essenmacher checks me and reassures me. I have every confidence in their care.

Positive experience: Love the hygienists and the Doctors. My family and I will continue to be patients here, as we have for years. I would just like to note that the small woman who manages the phones/front desk, with the messy ponytail on her head, is completely obnoxious with her fake voice, telling anyone and everyone to "have a blessed day" as if we live in The Handmaid's Tale. She ruins the entire calm and welcoming vibe here. I've had conversations with her over the phone and in person where she has a very condescending tone in the same tiny mousy fake voice she says "have a blessed day" with.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at Essenmacher Dental is wonderful. Dr Goyal and her staff are more than happy to explain everything and care to ask how I was doing through a long procedure. The rest of the team from front office to back office all are very helpful and always pleasing. As to procedures, I have undergone a pretty deep periodontal cleaning , a root canal and the first half of a crown and I must say; for never having had any of those procedures, the amount of discomfort was minimal (I was warned of the root canal post pain and dealt with it). The ease I feel in the chair throughout it all- even the anesthetic with the needle was encouraging. It’s like a spa for your mouth! Thank you for giving me faith in dentistry again and getting back on the road to good oral health!

Fantastic experience: I have suffered with TMJ dysfunction for 11 years. I was determined to get the right help after previous dentists did not offer services beyond the basics or did not seem educated regarding helpful referrals or worse wanted to send me to a surgeon. Dr. Essenmacher, her office, & personnel are welcoming, kind, on-the-ball, totally client-focused, professional, & good at what they do. Dr. Essenmacher worked closely with me to complete a thorough evaluation, diagnostic testing, & written report outlining the outcomes of my exams & tests (MRI, CBCT) regarding my TMJ Disorder. The report provided many various interventions (from basic / low-cost to more involved / higher cost). Even though TMJ Disorders can be excruciating & debilitating, sadly my experience is that most services are not covered by medical or dental coverage - falling through the crack. Yet, Dr. Essenmacher offered the tools & resources in order for me to make informed decisions on how I wanted to proceed. As part of my eval, I learned so much about how my mouth, jaw, tongue and other anatomy were or should be functioning. I have experienced medical environments where providers just want you to wear a CPAP and move along; however, that is not for me! Instead with Dr. Eessenmacher's interventions, I am avoiding the CPAP with a custom appliance that helps me breathe at night and protects my teeth from intensive, damaging clenching, learning about how the mechanics of my mouth, tongue, jaw, etc. should function through oral myofunctional therapy, mouth taping, & much more. Dr. Essenmacher has extensive knowledge & resources that can change your overall health & well-being vs. having a CPAP machine delivered to your home without detailed explanation of why or addressing your other individual underlying issues. I'm grateful for the options I have due to Dr. Essenmacher's extensive knowledge and her strong desire to help minimize the life-constraining pain I can experience.

Where most dentists during checkups don't even look at my teeth, Dr. E. spent an hour with me, inquiring about my complex dental history and listening intently. Finally, I feel like I'm in good hands in Albuquerque. I used to travel to see my dentist on the east coast, but I won't be needing to do that anymore because I've finally found a dentist who gives me the extraordinary care my mouth needs and deserves. Also I must comment that the technology supersedes that of any other dentist office in town. They took close photos and X-rays of my teeth so that Dr. E. could see every nook and cranny and treat my teeth accordingly. I finally feel like I can relax and don't have to constantly advocate for my own care, which was beyond tiring.

Negative experience: I recently moved here and was working hard to get established with a dental practice that I was comfortable with. I came here and was so excited as their facility and staff were superb! I became a member, signed on for it all! Very happy with everything.. Then…it all changed when I told them I could not afford two new crowns during my 2024 visit, and was surprised at the pressure that was put on me to sign up for financial assistance to get the work done now. After my cleaning, I was escorted to an office, with no explanation whatsoever, told to wait. Lo and behold- not the checkout person but, the financial options person ready to discuss how I could get the work done NOW! I was put off by their aggressive approach and informed her I didn’t have time to meet with her as it was unexpected, and I left. For the record-I have had NO ISSUES whatsoever with ANY of the teeth/crowns they are insisting I replace ASAP. I left feeling bad that I was unable to get everything done that they said was needed. 2025 visit-Hoping for a cleaning with no pressure but, that did not happen. Immediately reminded of the two crowns that needed replaced and was told doctor would be in to exam those crowns again for any further developments.Told by hygienist that I needed a prescription toothpaste which I said I would consider. She proceeded to clean my teeth, while water dripped down left side of my chin. I wiped it off and her comment was “too much water??” while laughing. Almost as if intentional…After cleaning, the doctor came in and completed examination while reminding me of the two crowns needed and informing me there are now two more that need replaced, so four total. I told the doctor I was now aware and would have them done as soon as I could afford it. The hygienist escorted me out to the front stating I needed to check out. I told her I should not owe anything as I was a member, but sat down to wait. The hygienist came back a few minutes later and told me that she would be sending me a form to sign for my refusal of services and I could go ahead and leave. Summary: If you do not have the financial ability to have all procedures that they recommend done asap, then do not go here. I am a retired person with limited funds and was made to feel LESS THAN -TWICE by the doctors and hygienist. Plenty of other dentists that do not exert pressure on patients to have procedures done that they can’t afford at that time. They have a beautiful facility and now I know why. 7/2/25- Thank you for your response, however the treatment I received begs to differ. The ONLY concern you showed was the replacement of my crowns. After my last appointment, I left actually crying because of how inadequate your staff made me feel. Definitely less than, but never again. At my first appointment, your staff USHERED ME into a discussion with your financial options person THAT I DID NOT REQUEST. Pressure intended. Perhaps a different approach would be to ACTUALLY ASK if that would be something a patient MIGHT be interested in. With all due respect-You knew EXACTLY what you were doing. You are running a well oiled machine that is designed to rope individuals into a feeling of comfort with your staff/services and then making them feel less than when they cannot afford those services that your staff recommends. PERIOD! I’ve lived it. Notice no comment about your hygienist lack of professionalism. Again, if you don’t have the unlimited financial means to do EVERYTHING THEY ADVISE, WHEN THEY ADVISE then do not go here.

Fantastic experience: Dr Nikita Goyal is very a talented dentist. She built 2 very nice well fitting crowns for me. The whole staff is just wonderful. Elisha my hygienist is just as sweet as can be and does an excellent job cleaning my teeth.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Essenmacher and her team went above and beyond by fitting me in on the same day after getting worrisome results from a bone graft and implants performed by a surgeon in Mexico. They were exceptionally generous in making calls to ensure I could see an oral surgeon quickly, and they arranged for me to be seen just two days later. Dr. Essenmacher is both a talented and compassionate dentist. I am extremely thankful.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Essenmacher and Dr. Goyal are amazing dentists. They are not only superior dentists, they are wonderful people. They create a safe and comforting place as soon as you walk in the office and check in with the team. It only gets better when you go back for your appointment. I can't say enough about these folks. I am someone who has anxiety with dentists since i was young. From day one they made me feel calm. Everyone else in the office are superior to all others in the business.

Fantastic experience: Marvelous staff, very polite and helpful. Dental assistant was great, informing at all stages of the visit. Dr. Goyal is very knowledgable, very positive in her analysis of my conditions. Dental Hygienist did suburb teeth cleaning, no painful scrapes, no bleeding and very helpful in the prognosis of my mouth. Everyone has tremendous personalities, great knowledge of the teeth and mouth. In short, I will recommend the office and staff to anyone I talk to about this wonderful Dental Office. Fantastic experience: We went for our first dental appointment yesterday and were very impressed with how thorough the hygienists and dentist was. They were very professional and really seemed to care about our dental health. Update 3/18/25: Have been going to Essenmacher Family Dental for a couple of years now for cleanings and I am very pleased with this group. They are not pushy as I've experienced in some previous dentist's offices. I have only had cleanings until yesterday when Dr Goyal replaced a crown that was in need of repair. Dr Goyal and her technician could not have been better. They were so nice and made me feel very comfortable and explained everything before and after the procedure very well. I totally trust this dentist with my oral care.

Fantastic experience: Best dental office I’ve ever been to (I’ve lived all over the country) maybe even best health service I’ve ever received in general. They are on top of billing and insurance (in a good way). The office is impressively up to date and modern, not to mention friendly and comfortable. Very impressive! Shout out to Elisha, my dental hygienist, who helped me overcome gum issues that past dental offices ignored. We moved out of state and I’ll miss this place.
