Negative experience: This is the Jiffy Lube of dental offices. My husband and I both went in for the first time this past August (2025) and were told we needed services that were not covered by insurance; he was not warned for his service, so ended up going forward with it then having to pay an unexpected bill after. When I was offered the same service by a different hygienist, they did warn insurance usually did not cover it, so I denied the service. But they got me when they told me i needed Xrays, and told me they're usually covered every other year. They said they'd check to be sure. They told me my insurance covered the service - just omitted the fact it is only covered every *5* years and given I had this service 2 years ago, that I'd be charged for it. They would have known this given they had my records. When I contacted the branch (Dec 2025) to figure out why they do this to people, the Senior Manager accused me of yelling at her (I did not), was very shrill with me, kept bringing up the recorded line, which made me laugh because I hadn't done or said anything offensive while trying to state my case. I asked to escalate this to someone else as she was not listening to me, and I was refused as she claimed to be the highest person in the office. It was an incredibly embarrassing conversation. I have to deal with medical and insurance issues on a very regular basis and this was a very simple inquiry that was only met with defiance; no listening, no attempt to understanding. As I told her, I'm not sure if it's because this office is in an affluent area that they're not used to getting push back over a few hundred dollars, but it felt like a total swindle. On the other hand, given how excited she was the minute I brought up my issue, it gave the impression this happens more often than not. There are many dental offices within just a few miles of Konikoff Shore Drive and I implore anyone to choose anyone else.

Fantastic experience: Great first office visit. Hygienist extremely knowledgeable and gentle. Didn't try to upsell after cleaning ( prescription toothpaste, prescription rinse, electric toothbrush...) like some other dentist chains do. So easy to make an appointment and be seen, in fact I made the next two appointments before I got out of the chair. The dentist was super friendly but I did not need any dental work yet. 5 STARS. Fantastic experience: I recently had a visit to my dentist - I had several cavities. Dr. Dobson had me in her chair for over 2 hours. It wasn’t fun but Dr. Dobson and her assistant made me feel very comfortable. I’m always greeted with friendly smile when I arrive at the office. Most people hate going to the dentist, I’m not saying I like it but I don’t dread it and I don’t fear it because Dr. Dobson is very gentle.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Konikoff Dental for several years now after my last Dentist office closed. Outside of the excellent care I receive from the Dentists and Hygienists (shout out to Doctor Dobson and Kayla!) the administrative staff is top notch. They bill both my primary and dental rider and are always spot on for what my out of pocket expenses on. They also are able to fit me in for the occasional emergent filling repair on relatively short notice. Very refreshing when this is not the case at so many other medical offices. Keep up the good work guys!

Negative experience: I’ve been happily going to Konikoff Dental since I was 10 years old, over two decades of loyalty, and I’ve never had a cavity or needed anything beyond standard cleanings and X-rays. They provide a great service and have friendly staff. Unfortunately, they recently decided to stop supporting the Dentrite plan (which they encouraged me to signup for and worked great), which increased the cost of my regular quarterly cleanings six-fold to $1,200 per year. It’s really disappointing to see a practice I’ve trusted for so long move away from supporting long-time patients. I’ve cancelled all future appointments and will be looking for a new dentist. Sad to leave after 20+ years, but it’s clear the priorities have changed.

Positive experience: My experience 9/22 at the Shore Drive Konikoff dental practice. I was greeted by the receptionist with yearly forms to fill out. I’m a returning patient. Why wasn’t this information communicated before the appointment so I could have filled out the paperwork ahead of time. Additionally there were separate additional charges for a laser treatment to reduce bacteria in the mouth, and an oral cancer check. It would have proactive if that info was sent out ahead of time instead of find out out about this at the appointment. The dentist who saw me was barely in the room and did not speak to me directly. She did a bare bones exam and said you’re good. She did not ask me if I had and questions or concerns. By this time I was angry with this practice. The dental hygienist did her job well and was the bright spot of the visit. The larger issue I have is that dental cleanings are scheduled 8 months out so goodbye to twice a year cleanings. I have been told the scheduling issue is due to a hygienist shortage but I suspect the main reason is financial reimbursement by insurance. So would I recommend this practice to others,? Not anymore.

Negative experience: I arrived at 10:37 for an appointment at 11:20, 17 September 2025. Went to the desk and was asked my name. I gave my name and was told I would not be seen due to computers being down because I needed X-rays. I asked why wasn’t I notified, I just drove two and a half hours and paid a $16.00 toll. The person who waited on me turned and walked away. Another person came out and asked if they could help, I gave her my name. The person responded “we will not be seeing you today our computers are down. I said okay and walked out the door. No compassion or help, when I got home there was a phone call on my home phone, the message was left 10 minutes after I had left the office. I received an email at 7:35 pm that evening stating they were glad to see me, if I had less than a 5 star experience to notify them directly so they could make it right. I have not heard anything back from the office. I felt disrespected and unwelcome.

Fantastic experience: I needed a crown on a tooth that had developed a hairline crack and periodic sensitivity. Dr. Latta and his assistants took me through a completely pain-free experience — a rare occurrence for me since I typically need multiple shots to achieve the numbness required for extensive dental work. The temporary crown worked well as I waited for the permanent one. I was called as soon as the permanent crown came in and was offered an immediate appointment. Then they worked with me to adjust the crown until it was perfect. Highly recommend Dr. Latta and all the excellent professional staff at Konikoff Dental!

Fantastic experience: This office is very professional, the employees are kind and considerate. I love that they have a laser type probe to pass by all sides of your gums to decrease bacteria before they clean your teeth. People don’t realize how important it is to have good gum and oral care. Teeth cleaning is imperative but it can increase bacteria from the gums directly into the blood stream. Cutting back on the bacteria with this new probe is smart and vision forward dental care, it’s worth the minimal cost to have it done,

Positive experience: I followed Dr. Latta to Konikoff Dental Associates from his former practice, where I was already in the process of preparing for an implant. After a somewhat unpleasant initial telephone conversation with a receptionist, which was later resolved by a manager and a callback from Dr. Latta, I was able set up an appointment for the crown. Bruised, but determined, I kept my appointment and, I was glad that I did, because I found a very competent and professional staff. Konikoff is a large and diverse practice that has some "interesting" personalities. However, I appreciate their "hustle," and skill ... and of course, reconnecting with Dr. Latta.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I sought out the Konikoff Dental Associates on Shore Drive to find a dental practice that accepted our current dental plan. The reception staff was very welcoming and set us up for appointments immediately. While the time period for any initial new patient appointment is often long, ours were not overly lengthy. On each of our initial visits we were checked in by a welcoming receptionist and in the treatment area after a very brief time in the waiting area. The dental hygienists were extremely cordial, welcoming, and professional. While both my wife and I went to the practice on different dates both of us received excellent care from the hygienists and Dr Latta. Unlike past dental practices my wife and I utilized, this Konikoff Dental practice did not delay our cleanings or refer us to more extensive and expensive cleanings to be completed at later dates. In other words, this Konikoff practice looked out for the patient first which was very much appreciated. Another welcome feature of this practice was the recommendations for future treatments were made with regard to staying within the confines of our insurance plan. The administrative office staff was very efficient in answering questions about billing and future treatment costs. Overall, Konikoff Dental Associates Shore Drive receive high marks from us and they have eliminated (for us) the anxiety of going to the dentist.

Fantastic experience: Love this practice. I go to the one on Shore Drive and Great Neck. I've been going for years. The only pain I've ever felt is from the shots, and even that isn't too bad. They do great work. I've had a bridge and crowns done there also. Most recently was a crown. Everybody there is super friendly.
